I used to do business with this store. Looks like I'm not alone, reading others reviews. The staff in this store are horrible and hateful. They act as if every customer is really annoying, and putting them out, while observing and experiencing my last few visits with this store. Maybe they should check into seeing if UPS would raise the hourly wage to help retain and keep more pleasant owners, staff, and employees of working age, to help create smoother transactions that don't irritate the job working day. I highly recommend going to another store, even in another tow, to help you with your UPS needs. Shame on UPS, for not keeping up with who is representing their company. read more

We had a terrible customer experience with David, the Owner, when he repeatedly refused to redo or make right a $120 print order for a book that he was having his nine-year-old daughter print, behind the counter. During the course of this interaction, David insulted me multiple times and attempted to intimidate me by glaring at me to show his displeasure that I was asking for my order to be made right. We had to return to this location multiple times and insist that David follow through on what he had already accepted payment for (and refused to refund at the store location.) David finally corrected the mistakes, but David came off as both condescending and misogynistic in how he chose to handle this customer service problem. The whole experience was so unpleasant that we'll no longer use this store location. As a person who grew up here, graduated CHS, and returned after Covid... I recommend that you AVOID this business purely because you could run into this Owner. If you're looking for shipping services, FedEx is available across the street, in the plaza on the south side of Indian Boundary road. read more

I've always been happy with UPS employees at the Chesterton Indiana store. All the employees were friendly until today. The really shocking thing is that the man's name tag said Owner! Either his 1st or last name is Luther. I think it may have said Mark Luther. He was not only unfriendly, but has a very gruff voice and intimidating manner. I am a very short woman who is almost 60 and I expect to be treated with respect. I would rather drive out of town to a different UPS store than have to deal with this owner. read more

I used this UPS Store recently to sent a package overnight. The delivery was critical. They took my $72.00 and off it went on a Thursday. Next day ... nothing. Although frustrated, I waited (I couldn't get the tracking number to work). Friday ... nothing. I was sure it would get there over the weekend. Monday ... nothing. So I called. Gave them the tracking number. "That's not our tracking number, sir." "Well," I said, "It's on your company's receipt under 'Tracking Number'." "I don't know what to tell you". She actually said that. I won't bore you with every detail. The manager got involved. She didn't know what to do so she went to the owner. Two days later ... nothing. Called the manager. "Nothing yet. We'll call you when we know something (I knew THAT was going to be long wait). Eventually the package was delivered. SIX DAYS LATER. The people who got the package told me. I'm still waiting for the UPS Store to call me "when they know something". I went in to get a refund for the $72.00 overnight fee and pay the cost for a normal week long delivery. The clerk told me that the package was sent via the Post Office. I explained that it was a UPS Store receipt, not a Post Office receipt. She frustratedly explained that she knew that. (Apparently I was starting to annoy her. Yes, disgruntled customers can be annoying, I know). She kept telling me that it was supposed to have been delivered by the Post Office. As if that mattered somehow. I paid the UPS Store, not the USPS. I asked if she was suggesting I ask the Post Office for my refund. She suggested I take the matter up with the manager who was expected at any moment. I came back. Ah, managers. Solver or problems. Finder of facts. Trained to get to the bottom of all things down there at the bottom. "I can't do that, sir. We don't just hand over money like that." It was as if the concept of refunding money for services not delivered was an unknown concept in halls of The UPS Store. She went on to explain that one must submit a request to get a return of money for services not rendered. "Would you like to do that, sir?" She actually asked me that. I admit, that made me chuckle just a bit. I toyed with a number of responses but it was clear sarcasm was going to be lost here. Stunning. The whole time I was made to feel as though it was all MY fault and NOT their problem. Several insincere apologies were offered (apologies not dissimilar from the ones delivered by utility companies after they accidently blowup your house). I would not be surprised to find my refund is given the same priority as my package. And with a resounding: "I don't know what to tell you, sir. I am really sorry. No, really, I mean it this time. Honest, Miss. I'm so sorry. By the way, have you been helped?" Exhausting. read more

I usually have no issues at this place, but I think one of the associates that works there needs to be refreshed on the actual policy when it comes to pickups. I'm new to town and hadn't gotten an ID that matched my address here, yet. However, I still had a valid ID. Despite my name on the package matching to my driver's license, the associate still requested that I show mail that pertained to the same address. Now tell me why would that make sense to her or anyone? If I was anywhere in the world and had a package ready for pickup, I would have to show ID for ANY address it was being delivered to? (My girlfriend's, a hotel, etc.) Yes, I had the tracking number, so once again, not sure why I had to prove residency. Looking at the UPS site, it clearly states: Option 1: Present a government-issued photo ID, such as a driver's license, passport or ID. The full name on the ID must match that of the package label. The only time UPS.com mentions showing documentation that's connected to the address is when someone that is not named on the package is picking up: If you need someone else to collect your package on your behalf, they'll need to bring a valid government-issued photo ID or another valid photo ID containing the full name along with a utility bill, tax bill, or bank statement with full name and proof of connection to the address on the UPS label or to the named person (named person's valid ID or photocopy). Also accepted as proof of connection is an official notification (from the shipper or UPS) that provides the shipment/order details for the parcel (recipient name, shipper name, UPS Access Point location address and tracking number). Notifications can be printed out or provided on a smart phone. If your shipper provides a package release code for your delivery, your friend or family member can present their photo ID and the code to pick up your package read more

Unfortunately this UPS store 4043 has changed hands. I was in before closing time and all I needed to do was tape my labels on my return. Owner got more and more aggressive until he actually threw me out of the store telling me that if I didn't leave he was going to call the police. I would get served with a "no trespass". Even when I had left the store he stood outside on the path telling me to leave. Seriously if you are going to have a psychotic break over someone just needing to tape up their package, you should not own a service business. UPS I am sure the whole interaction is on his security system. UPS should more carefully vet the people they franchise to. I didn't even need anything from him. He could have put the shutters down and closed up. He just wanted to be combative. Never seen anyone fly off the handle quite like this. I would advise to go to the nicer people at the surrounding UPS stores. No need for a "no trespass", I certainly will not be back. I would suggest everyone stay away. Went to this UPS store yesterday to ship a horse saddle. Of course I went at the busiest time of day... after work. Wes, the clerk, was really multitasking. The phone was ringing, people were coming in to pick up their mail, a UPS driver came in, and someone was having trouble using the copy machine. Wes handled it all with a smile. I have been a customer at this UPS Store since 2016 when it was under a different ownership. The previous owners were super nice and I never had any problems. A new owner had purchased the franchise in 2019 and though the girls at the front desk are super nice, that's not the case with this new owner. He clearly lacks customer service skills and whenever I needed to make a call, he would be rude on the phone and would say things like "we don't do that anymore." Besides being as friendly as a prison door, I got a notice in my box last year warning me of my behavior and frequent phone calls, which I only called to ask about a delivery or mail I have received. The latest incident with the owner of this establishment happened yesterday after I called him about a delivery that was delivered and accidentally picked back up by the same driver. He called me back last night while I was on an active GrubHub delivery and had a mental meltdown. He accused me of being "obsessive" and again threatened to close my box. So though I got my package today, I decided to open a box at a different location and closed my box here. I would not give him the opportunity to treat me like crap. I would suggest UPS's franchise dept to teach him customer service skills because the way this man acts with customers is real bad company image. I would recommend avoiding this store for any shipping or delivery needs. I just feel sorry for the employees who have to put up with him. read more

My wife was in the store today to drop off some packages that were a returns due to shipping damages. We had originally requested a pick up but were told by UPS that because they were Amazon returns we could not reschedule a pick up date and since we both were out the day given to us by UPS. Therefore we were forced to bring the packages in for drop off. The items were larger parcels but well with in the 150# weight limit as they were originally shipped by UPS. Upon arriving, a gentleman rudely assisted my wife, tried to publicly embarrass her in front of other customers, and then left her to off the the boxes without assistance! All because he didn't want to deal with the larger packages! His several comments were rude and persistent throughout the entire process. His behavior was even noted by his other coworkers, whom I'm certain were embarrassed as well. Unfortunately she did not get his name. Nevertheless, I filed a complaint with the UPS cooperate headquarters. read more

After renting a ups box at this store for the last 6 years, I attempted to close it in July. The associate had no idea how to complete the closure and I was forced to return when I got back into town 3 weeks later. When I asked about the forwarding arrangements, I was informed by a different associate that my mail would be held for 6 months and I was instructed to come in and pick it up as needed. I was also told that there would be no fee associated with this. I was perfectly willing to pay any fee, I just wanted to know what to do. I followed the instructions of the associate for the last 3 months, until today, when the owner was present (which he RARELY is). He informed me that I could not get my mail that he was holding in his hand, nor would he even let me look at it, unless I paid him $25!!! He further BERATED me, by yelling that he was "not running a charity"!!! I told him that I never suggested he was and that his employees had laid out the exception as outlined above. He was yelling so loud over me, that I'm sure he didn't hear a word I was saying. It would be nice if this owner actually managed his store and trained his employees properly. The staff is very nice and accommodating, but this man is CLUELESS when it comes to customer service and management. He should also seek help for his anger issues!!!! AVOID THIS PLACE!!!! read more

Everyone is so friendly and very helpful. I just went in yesterday with my 2 kiddos and I was ready to purchase an envelope to send my items in but I already had a ups shipping label printed. The lady informed me that I didn't need to purchase an envelope that one would be provided. Then I told her I brought my own tape to fix the label to the package. She said don't worry I'll do that! Usually people are wanting to make a dollar or two when you come in their store. This group is so wonderful and are just about the customer experience! Thanks for being awesome! read more
