I came here on a Monday and asked the guy, who I find out later is named Mike, a shipping question. He did not give a straight answer and was totally unhelpful. I decided not to patronize his business because of this lack of customer service. As I was leaving, I heard him say something under his breath which was aimed at me. Totally unacceptable business practice. I spoke to someone regarding this business and my experience with them. The person said that this Mike has a huge chip on his shoulder because he was once a Chargers player--Played one season in the mid-80s. I guess it's hard to have that in your past, and now pack and ship other people's packages. Now that the Chargers are set to leave San Diego, maybe it won't be too hard on him. I hope he finds his peace and just focus on his present life. Any work is worthwhile and honorable if you make it so. read more

I was hesitant going in to return unused school books because of the limited time I have. I just kept putting it off and putting it off. I finally got in to taking care of it and upon walking in the door, the sweet man behind the corner greets me with, "Ya got a book return hun, that will just be 3.95, and don't worry I will package it up for you, do you have the paper work?" I just handed him everything and he says, "OK just keep track with your emailed tracking number and it will tell you once they re'ceive it." "Have a good day." Dang! I would have gone there sooner! Every time I stop in, I get awesome customer service and take it out of your hands we will do it kind of help. Fantastic customer service. It is a bit busy at times, however worth the wait! I went in to asl about a passport photo and he encouraged me to bring in my renewal forms. He would double check them and make sure everything was correct so it wouldn't get kicked back for a mistake. He was knowledgeable of the photo and back up document criteria. I've just come to the end of a long, drawn-out saga involving UPS, but I had to write to let you know how honestly and respectably the owners of the UPS store behaved in a very difficult situation. Long story short, I brought in a heavy package (already paid for), had this UPS store pack and ship it, and it was summarily destroyed during transit by UPS. Another long story short, UPS refused our insurance claim ($2000), saying that the package was improperly packed. The UPS store is a franchise, not a part of UPS themselves, so UPS isn't responsible. I was very concerned at this point that I'd never see that money, and that I'd be out of pocket for a pretty large sum. Once I brought all this to Jeff's (one of the owners) attention, he had me contact the insurance carrier of the shop, who actually handled things very attentively and quickly with full cooperation from Jeff and the UPS store. Just today I have received full reimbursement for my damaged item, and I wanted to thank Jeff and the UPS Store on El Norte for helping me come through what could've been a very difficult situation. A true display of integrity in business. I will certainly be back! (And, BTW, I used to need to print 11'x17" plan sets fairly frequently before I got my own large format printer, and this shop was far more reasonable than FedEx/Kinko's for printing those things!) read more

Horrible customer service from their employee, I usually don't say anything but she was so rude I even asked her to stop right then and there. I walked in on a Saturday to overnight a document, not knowing that this could not be done unless it was sent out earlier in the morning. When asking questions, the employee was visibly annoyed with my lack of knowledge about the time cut offs, she was scoffing, rolling her eyes, and speaking with a very negative attitude. I was just asking questions to find the best solution for my problem. I stepped outside to make a phone call and came back in to send the document, thinking it would arrive Monday. She scoffed at my request and said she already told me it wouldn't arrive until Tuesday. I could not believe her poor attitude as a customer service rep. I asked her to stop her rude attitude and be more understanding that I don't work at a UPS store, so I might not know all the time cut offs and rules, and that's ok. She needs to be patient and provide good customer service instead of being rude just because I didn't have the knowledge she did. I wish I caught her name badge so I could include that information. This visit was 10/5/19 Saturday afternoon at 4:15pm. A 1 star rating is more than she deserves. read more

Walked in. Chick was sitting down drinking a soda. She saw me. Asked me if I was dropping off. Still hadn't moved nor said hello. I responded with "not really!" So. She got up, said the crummy bag I had my two items in would suffice, and I busied myself trying to pull up the two codes I needed from my email inbox. A lady walks in. She's immediately acknowledged. While I'm trying my best to pull up the codes quickly, whilst mumbling my apologies, she helps the lady behind me. No biggie !! But. When I had a question about the receipts that were laying there, the worker talked over me, said the info I needed to hear and then turned back to her maybe friend, and quickly said to her "sorry about that". Keep in mind I'm still standing there holding receipts... So I left. Still mumbling. And decided to get my frustration at being looked over and made to feel like a nobody out to the internet. This won't deter anyone from frequenting this place, I suppose...we all have packages coming and going...but maybe you'll watch out for the younger chick with thin blond hair. Every time I come here I regret it. Mike is very nice and *seems* helpful, but I am routinely overcharged for shipping. He has tacked on extra packaging fees and then tried to fold the receipt and stapled it so I don't notice. He has tried to charge me more than the actual postage for regular mail by just typing it on his calculator and having me pay without actually seeing the amount of postage going on the envelope. If I take it to the post office, the actual postage is several dollars cheaper. Like I said, he's very nice, but he's trying to skim a few bucks off everyone that walks through the door. Not cool. It's the principle that bothers me. It's dishonest. I will not use this UPS store anymore. read more

Mike was so helpful with my package that got delivered to my daughter in Colorado all smashed up and everything broken. He helped me with my claim.When UPS took too long to respond, he followed up with them and they asked for pictures of the broken items. Instead of calling me, he looked the items up on line and submitted the pictures. He just emailed me and called to say that my refund check is on the way. First of all, ignore the one-star reviews because it's under the new ownership of Mike, Yvonne, and Melissa. Mike just bought out his partner and the place is really well-run. Today Mike performed a Christmas miracle for me. I needed to get documents to an escrow company by Tuesday and did NOT realize that the last pick up this week was Friday (due to Monday being an official holiday, no pickup on Saturday). My heart sank and I think Mike saw the panic on my face. Come Tuesday and those docs are not there, I was going to have some very angry escrow clients. Mike called the main UPS office and asked the regional manager if they were shipping out Express and overnight packages from the main office. They were, and then he asked if they could make an exception and spare someone to come do a pick up at his location. They said they would try. So then Mike said, leave the packages here, if they pick them up I'll let you know and if not, you can come get them so you can courier them up to Irvine. I stopped in once again later that morning to check if that truck had come yet (it had not) but Mike assured me that even if he had to do it himself, he would drive the packages to the main office in San Marcos. ON XMAS EVE. Who does that?? Well, the good news is the UPS truck did come (and major props to UPS for doing that too!) and retrieve the "desperate packages" after I left. But Mike went even further and called and left me a voicemail letting me know that my docs were picked up and scheduled for delivery on time so I would not be crazy with anxiety the next three days. I can't express how grateful I am to Mike for saving my hide. It just goes to show that great customer service is always so appreciated and I will ALWAYS single his place out for my UPS needs. DO NOT go here for notary or shipping services!! They charge $10 PER notary stamp, which is a total rip off! I had a document I needed notarized that had five spots to sign and they charged $50!! The notary in San Marcos charged me $5 for another entire document with just as many stamps. I also needed to send the documents overnight and the guy convinced me that UPS would be cheaper than FedEx. Really? $50 for UPS to overnight an envelope! So total comes out $100 of wasted money. Went in with two very large packages for an Amazon return. I told the gentleman working there that I needed to print out my shipping labels from USB and he told me it would be three dollars each. When I looked at the advertised rates for black and white copies and saw that it was .10 each, I said all I needed was an 8.5"x11" black and white copy and he still maintained that they charge 3 dollars each for "computer related" things. Looking at my 40 lb box that I assume they would be compensated pretty handsomely for handling, whether it was by me or Amazon, he said, "You're going to need a three dollar tape job too, so you're up to $9." I left, and called him back about a half hour later and, very politely, said "I just went to Staples and paid .11 each for the two shipping labels and they didn't charge me anything for tape, so I just wanted to let you know what a superior service your competitors are offering." He replied, "Well, you were a little cheap, my friend, so I thought you'd be leaving." I'm a pretty easy going, polite person so I've literally never had such rude service from any business. Save yourself the trouble and just go to Staples, they ship UPS and have much friendlier people that don't try to rip you off. read more

I agree, there is something not right about the fees that get added onto a shipment. I shipped a 5 lb package to a friend in Mississippi and paid almost $40. But I didn't know, because I rarely ship, but when this friend came for a visit last month and wanted to ship something home to her mom, she came out of there very confused as to why her package was so expensive, and she ships all the time. Overcharge you? Oh yes they will. They depend on you not knowing your cost. The employee told me my box was NOT 22 X 22 X 13. She said it was 1/8 -- yep, you got it, one eighth of an inch over on one side (22 1/8 X 22 X 13) and that added $9 to my bill. My box wasn't over the measurements and it wasn't bulging like she said. It was a perfect square box. I had calculated costs at home before going to those THIEVES because I knew better than to trust them. I told her she was obviously padding their bill and that I would call the manager when he got back. She stood her ground and was a total B! I paid $74 to ship that box friggin' GROUND...at home calculations said $63. Update - 2 hours later: The manager called to apologize and said to come in for a $9 refund. Update - 2 hours & 10 min. later: The manager called again and said I was due a refund of $5, not $9. I told him, "At this point, I'm totally fed up!" He said, "It's 1/16 of an inch over." Check your rulers everyone! Can you even see 1/16th of an inch? This all seems like a stupid joke. Now I know I will always go to FedEx because I checked prices with them after going there and was quoted $51.75. I could have saved $22 and ground delivery is 4 days, not 5. This store seems to be under attack and I don't trust the reviews at all. The store is a little out of my way but I have been going there for years for all my shipping. This is my first and last time bringing my business to this location. I walked in the store to just drop off a package and get a receipt for it. There were two ladies behind the counter with their backs turned from me. I politely said, "excuse me", and they turned around. I then said, "I need to mail a package." One of the ladies, who had a very short hair cut, (wish I had got her name) said VERY RUDELY to me, "can you wait a minute?!" My facial expression I was soo taken aback I couldn't say anything other wise I would've had a couple of choice words for her. I was in no rush and I wouldn't have minded waiting had she asked me the CORRECT way. I'm not sure if she spoke to me the way she did because I look like a teenager and she thought I was just a kid (I'm 22 btw) or what. As far as I know, it doesn't matter if I look 2 or 22, I'm a CUSTOMER who's helping to keep your business open so there was no reason for her to speak to me in the rude manner she did. Anyhow, continuing with the story, about 7sec later, she called a guy out from the back who came to help me. He was very helpful and polite. However that's not enough for me to give a good review or come back to this place. If they think treating customers like sh*t will contribute to the success of their business, then good luck and good riddance, I'm headed over to the other location on valley parkway. read more

Got amazing, personal service. Had to travel out of state to go through and ship a relative's furnishings. Some items would be shipped out through this store, and some of the items would be shipped out later on a pallet. As I had to leave back home that day, they offered to personally drive to my mom's home in Escondidio and pick up all of the items, holding the larger ones at their store until they could be picked up by the freight company. They packaged all the items up (lots of fragile nick nacks, stained glass, furniture, etc). Everything was packaged well, and in great condition. They followed up all along the way with delivery times. Great, great to work with; really relieved what could have been a very stressful situation. read more

If I could give negative ratings I would. I went into the store on Dec. 31, 2012 to send my daughter her glasses. She starts back to school on the 7th of Jan. She was staying at her father's in Granger In. and leaving to go back to school on the 6th. I asked the man at the UPS store if we could get it to her dad's house by Friday the 4th. He assured me UPS could but it would cost me $29.99 for the 2 day express service. I said that was fine. He asked me the address and I gave it to him twice so as not to get it wrong. He started talking about family back in that area and telling me about his cousins in Michigan, yada yada. Needless to say he entered the address wrong, unbeknownst to me. He charged me the 29.99 and then almost threw away the receipt. My Daughter waited all day for the pkg and when it never arrived, I called the 1-800 number on my receipt and they told me the address was incorrect and would have to go through the store here to get the error corrected. Meanwhile, my husband was on the phone with the owner of the store and he said that he did not work on Monday and therefor didn't know the situation. We got in the car and drove down there and the guy my husband talked to was the guy who worked Monday( the owner) and we realized he had lied to avoid helping us with fixing this. When he realized he was caught in the lie he told us that he wouldn't eat the cost of fixing the address and tried to charge us an additional $17.00 on top of the $29.99. Needless to say, I am having my ex-husband pick up the pkg from UPS in South Bend and take it to the USPS to have it delivered to our daughter at school. UPS couldn't help us either. We (a caregiver and myself) packed up my quadriplegic husband to go get some papers notarized. I had called this UPS Store and he said to come on in...no appointment. When we got there I told him what type of papers they were and that the acknowledgements were attached. #1 he actually flipped through the papers scanning and reading - I don't know why. I told him that we had identification and that my husband would need a little help. He then told me that we couldn't help my husband sign. My husband is paralyzed. He signs with a mark which is addressed on page 17 of the 2011 California Notary Handbook. NOWHERE in there does it say that you cannot help a disabled person. NOWHERE! My husband had two witnesses, and two valid forms if ID (a California ID and a Retired Military ID). A notary uses the ID and the witnesses to notarize a signature or mark proving that the person is who they say they are. It doesn't matter what kinds of papers they are. This owner was told what they were. A notary is notarizing the signature or mark. This guy summarily disrespected us, discriminated against my husband and says he's been doing this for 30 years. We will never go back into his store and are encouraging others to not go there or to at least be aware so they are not disrespected, discriminated and stereotyped too. To often people use their own personal opinion to make decisions for others. This owner has access to written instructions in order to perform his services. He CHOSE to use his own biases to turn us away - A paralyzed disabled veteran, his wife and his caregiver. We were not asking for favors - we just expected an honest business transaction. The owner told me that I should have known I couldn't help my husband make his mark. I've been helping my husband and other disabled people for 10 years. This owner says he has been doing business this way for over 30. Maybe this poor owner needs help as well! He certainly needs another notary class. Oh while were there the ownwer clearly took advantage of an elderly man sending HoHo's to his daughter charging him $25.00 as the best rate. read more

Do not go here. You will be robbed blind, especially if you're a trusting person. I wish there were a half star option because this place doesn't even deserve a full star. The owner was very pleasant, but most con-men are. He wanted to charge me $30 to mail to an APO and when I asked about a flat rate box he said it was 'pretty much the same.' (This was for a small handful if items) He took advantage of the fact that I had a small infant with me and was new to military shipping. After I left I called an Army friend who told me I shouldn't have paid more than $15 via USPS. So I went back, did a return, and took back my box. He insisted he had to charge me for the used box, which I was fine with. According to his posted price chart, the box he used should have only cost $3, he insisted it was $5.95. Like I said, this place is a rip off. It wasn't worth it to me to argue. I paid him and left and will NEVER go back. read more
