I've been coming to this UPS location for the past 3 years and have never had an issue, until now. I walked in recently and stood behind the only customer there at the time, an older woman, to form a line. Two other groups arrived afterward and formed a separate line on the opposite side. When the staff called out, "whoever's next," I spoke up to clarify that the line had been forming where I was. I wasn't trying to cause a problem, and I was communicating the order, since neither of the two staff members stepped in to guide things. Both of them had seen me walk in and knew the other customer was already waiting. I stood directly behind her and waited for my turn in what has always been the line area in my previous visits. When another customer argued the line was "usually" on the other side, I mentioned that from my experience that it was where I was standing- besides, I stood behind the woman who was before me. The staff member said, "No, it's actually over there", which surprised me. That's never been my experience. And honestly, it doesn't make sense for the line to form by the back door, which is a small cube compare to the front entrance that garners more space. If it were the other way, the crowd in back would block deliveries and pick-ups. But in the end, that wasn't even the point; I was next. What made it uncomfortable was that the staff didn't step in to clarify or take control of the situation. I understand that it's awkward to redirect a group, but instead, I had to advocate for myself in front of a large audience. It was awkward and, to be honest, embarrassing. When I suggested they mark where the line should form to prevent future confusion, the response I got was: "It's not in my purview, but I'll tell my manager." That felt dismissive and unhelpful. I've always had good experiences here before, which is why this moment stuck with me. A little clarity and leadership from the staff would've made all the difference and prevented everyone involved from having such an uncomfortable moment. read more

If you are looking to print something at this location, only do it when the manager is there. He is wonderful and will get it done quickly for you. I go here at least once a month to get things printed for work. However, If he is not there, do not even bother. Nobody else knows how to do it. I usually take my Macy's returns to the Royal Oak location. As they are closed on Sundays, I went to the Ferndale location. I also use a box that I have from goods that I have purchased and the Royal Oak location just tapes the box and puts the new label over the old one. This morning May 4th, I was told that I needed to buy a box because my box had a label on it. The new label would have easily covered it. As my return refund was only $35, I indicated that I am was just going to go to the Royal Oak location. I think that service sucke. The Royal Oak location took the box with no issues at all. The absolute worst UPS store experience of my life. Every time I come with a package, they try to tell me that I have to buy their box, because their box has some kind of official seal on it. Super long line, with no queue to keep it organized, and as far as I could tell, no drop box for pre-tagged items.

Had prepaid labels, still was charged for new packaging even though I've always been able to just tape the packaging closed and ship. I was told different locations have different rules which makes no sense from a shipping standpoint if it's all still UPS. Despite being independently owned or a franchise, this particular location forces you to pay for fire services which the whole point of me having prepaid labels were it was already paid for. I was so excited when this location opened down the street from me. The staff is friendly and quick.....but....BIG but...they are ridiculous on their Amazon return policy insisting you must have an Amazon box. Well I took boxed blinds there today and they said they couldn't take without an Amazon box. I didn't have the box as they came several boxes in a large box which I discarded and being an odd size I didn't have anything to fit them. So I took my mini blinds in to the Royal Oak location who took them in an instant with no question of the box. This is the second time they have given me an issue about a boxed item needing a different box. The Royal Oak location doesn't hassle . So don't waste your time going here as RO is much easier. When I've brought in returns, they check them in and stress importance of taking receipts to cover my bases with printed receipts. Disappointed once again by this location! I walked in and I was handed a sleeve and asked to put my label in...self service. But worse then that, I was told I couldn't ship in the shoe box my shoes came in and they wanted me to buy a bag for $6.99. I took by box and drive six minutes north to the Royal Oak store where my interaction was entirely different. I was greeted with "hello", my label scanned, and then asked "would you like a receipt", I say yes and was offered "thank you". Done!! So worth the six minute drive. I understand the need to make money but this Ferndale location goes out of their way to gouge. If people start driving to RO instead maybe they will realize that their service is not competitive and will change. I wish the RO store would buy them and run it properly. read more

I came here to make a return and without knowing what the item was in the box the store cleric accused me of trying to make a partial return. I opened the box to show her she was wrong but it was a unpleasant experience so much so I came back and spoke with the manger. He said he could check the camera. If I could give them zero stars I would. Three employees act as tho they have no clue what is happening. One of the ladies just told a customer who called prior to coming into the store that she doesn't know what someone told him because she doesn't work in the morning then just stood and looked at him. Gordon looked lost when all I was doing was sending a fax. He then walked away with my private papers just sitting on the fax. When he saw me asking the lady to check to see if they went through, he walked up to inform me that's not them as faxes wait for someone on the other line to pick up the faxes. I tried to explain that faxes don't work then that manner but he appeared so I went silent. There seems to only be 1/4 people in here that can function beyond a kindergarten level. I had the pleasure of using the services of this particular ups store in ferndale, mi and I must say they work with you! They break down the price so that you know what your paying for and will make sure you get the best price! My wife and I were shipping baby items to our house out of town and they were more than accommodating! They also saved us about $100 which is always a good sign!! EVERY time I come to this store there's some reason they have terrible customer service. Never will they give me a sliver of tape for a partially ripped amazon box. Never will they provide me a weather-proof label holder. Never will they allow photos when I'm faxing something VERY exciting off into the phone lines. Went in here once and the guy LAMBASTED me in front of a lobby full of customers about mistakenly bringing a USPS package in. I find the people who work here to be unhelpful and pretentious. If you need UPS, drive down Woodward. The extra few miles is worth dealing with kinder people. read more

young lady was friendly when I walked in. she was helping me at first but then a different employee came to help. told me I did not have enough tape on the box of boots I was returning to Amazon. I asked to use some which he replied I could buy some. I took the package home and retaped only to return and have them tell me it should be in another box so the boots don't get stolen during transport back to Amazon. I will never go or recommend this location. tried to return a amazon package and was under the impression that it was free to return. Which I will continue to use Kohls no problems no hassle. The gentlemen running this store Besho and Sam are were extremely helpful in tracking a package I sent to my son at a wrong address. Besho googled the address (mistaken one and did not exist but was near correct address). He confirmed package had been delivered. He also grabbed a package off the truck that was getting ready to leave so that he could corrent that address. This was all at 5:00 when they were due to close.
