The other review was right about accuracy on weight/dimensions of packages. I noticed an odd charge on my bank account relating to one of my shipping labels for a package I sent out from this location. After reviewing it, I was handed an "incorrect measurement adjustment" fee. My measurements are always accurate. I recalibrated my scale to make sure this issue wasn't on me, and sure enough, it wasn't. The scale used to measure the package was retested and proved to be accurate. I have shipped out packages from other UPS locations around the greater NJ area and this was the first time I was hit with this wild fee. Unless your packages are to the DOT accurate, I wouldn't recommend going to this store. read more

The store manager Allen is very hostile. Do not come to this location, it should warrant an investigation. He has the most horrible service totally unprofessional. I brought in a large box that is unopened and he refuses to take it because i was supposed to double box it. I have never had issues with ups taking unopened boxes. I will not come back to this location. They also make you pay $4 for UPS shipping label, when fedex offers for free. read more

UPS in Fort Lee, I have to say that despite the long lines at times, the staff is always kind and friendly. I have always heard them to polite to all the customers. I applaud that because I have been there when the line has wrapped around. I would like them to get a better secure drop box and location for customers who have prepaid shipping items to scan. It is always stacked to beyond its capacity and it's just a "Amazon" container and it's right by the front door. read more

BEWARE! Off by an inch or an ounce in your package dimensions? This store will upcharge you DOUBLE AFTER your package has been delivered. Yes, you read that right. I was charged DOUBLE for "incorrect" weight and dimensions. Dimension wise, I was off by ONE inch, fine, tolerable. It's when I noticed the weight upcharge that I decided to write this review. Absolutely ludicrous. I've been shipping items for a little over 12 years, in doing so, you'd expect my measurements and weights to be somewhat accurate. According to this UPS store, I guess not. I weigh all my packages on two different scales to ensure my measurements are as accurate as possible. On both my scales, my package weighed in at 5.3 lbs. Want to guess what this store claimed my package weighed? 13 POUNDS. WHAT. HELLO?! How do you go from 5.3 lbs to 13 POUNDS?! That alone DOUBLED my shipping cost. Worst part is, you can't even dispute a claim like that because their online customer service center is literally impossible to reach. Luckily, I used a third party for my shipping label so the upcharge wasn't as asinine as it would've been had I purchase my label through this specific store. I wished they would've mentioned something about the discrepancies at the time of the drop-off so that I could've called them out for their wildly inaccurate 7.7 lb additional weight difference. Had that been the case, I wouldn't have ship the package. I just thought that was a pretty dishonest thing to do. That being said... here are some additional things I noticed at this specific UPS location. - The Self Service kiosk is usually the quickest and easiest way to drop off your packages so if you're in a rush and don't want to wait in line, use that. - One of the employees here is almost always animated. This person literally greets every single person walking through the door (not necessarily negative) and announces the same "we'll be right with you shortly" every minute. Instead of receiving a simple response, one staff member raised his voice and accused me of not respecting his time, and another employee escorted me out. I used to go there often to scan documents as well as to send packages including items I was returning to Amazon.com and diabetic supplies I was donating to an NGO that provides such items to needy diabetic people world-wide. My mom also used them to send mail urgently and to make photocopies of documents. Collin was very helpful and always friendly. They recently changed management/ownership. Lujee was very helpful in scanning my tax documents so I could Email them to my tax preparer. They are as busy as always since there was a long line of people with boxes to return to Amazon.com. The old management/ownership usually had 1 to 2 people now they have a staff of 3 to 4 people. I think the prices went up too but the new staff seem to be quicker than the old staff. It is a really useful to have especially since the nearby Staples closed and was replaced by Ascend. They also have a small selection of office supplies. read more

I was in the store today to have some papers notarized. My experience was below par. One would think that this simple task would be swift in and out. But Daniel, the notary, took care of every other customer who came in making me wait even though I was first in line. There were 3 other employees in the store. He told me that they didn't know what they were doing so he had to take care of everyone. So every time another client came in, whether it was the other 2 notary clients or the 4 UPS clients, he interrupted servicing me and started taking care of the next arrival. I told him that the situation that brought me there was anxiety ridden and asked that he finish with my papers before helping anyone else but he continued and then became passive aggressive. I like this ups store. It is located within the big shopping plaza next to hmart in fort lee. I usually order a lot of stuff on amazon and sometimes I got to return stuff as well. I print the shipping label and have it drop off at an ups store. I've been here a couple of times and each time the guy who is working there is very friendly. Usually it's not so busy here and all I got to do is to drop off my package on the scale, wait for him to scan and then get a printed receipt then I'm good to go. They seem to have notary services here as well. There are some mailbox you can rent for your business. Also there is one printer in the front if you need to get some printing done. In the middle there are some hallmark cards you can purchase and ship. There is also a small section of shipping supplies in the back left wall. read more

Returning some luggage to Amazon. They charge 1.00 to tape the box shut I thought all you needed to do was give them the barcode from Amazon. The ups store would take care of everything. Plus, I have been returning Amazon packages for years. First, I heard of this. Guess that is why Google's rating has them lower than the other Ups store in the area. read more

I did not have a positive experience here the other day. There's usually a younger gentleman who helps me and he is really kind and patient. The older gentleman who "helped" me was dismissive and seemed irritated. I tried my best to end our interaction on a high note. I suggest to this location that when you are interacting with customers, especially women, women of color, be mindful of your tone, facial expressions, word choice, demeanor and not presenting as aggressive, condescending or hostile. Shortly afterwards, I visited the Englewood location and it was a much more positive experience, day and night. read more

Avoid this store if you can! They charge everything include 6 inch of taping your box which others UPS franchised store does not. The old tall white guy who is the owner of the store is a complete jerk and extremely nasty just like other reviews mentioned. I rented a mail box at this store which is probably one of the worst decisions I made. They do not provide tape or even you can not have them taken my flattened recycled package boxes. The owner even talked to me in F word when my friends had to drive 15 minuted to toss the boxes that he refused to take when he charges a $30 monthly fee for my service! Like father like son, his son talked to me in such rude and snobby tone that "we charge for taping and $1 per label we print"; "when we tell you something, that is not a negotiation" Nobody even wants to work here when you see the "Help wanted" sign, that's why only the owner, his son and a part time staff work here and we have to bear this business! Tried to send a package out Edgewater store on my company's account and was told by the employee that Edgewater store couldn't do it but the Fort Lee UPS Store could. Long story short, I trek up to Fort Lee only to be treated rudely. Apparently, a UPS Store franchise allows the proprietors to set their own rules and standards are laxly enforced. No other alternative or apology was given to me but I got a huge dose of attitude and hostility. I was then told to drive to the Secaucus Store where they surely could accommodate me. Just like a lot of other people have already said, worst UPS store on Earth. I've been here a few times and not a single employee is polite or courteous. They charge for every single thing including tape. I once needed a single piece of tape and they said I would have to buy a whole roll. Other locations just tape up your package for free. They also didn't honor a discount I received as part of an organization called the AMA. It states clearly online that they offer discounts to AMA members, however the old guy who owns the place refused, unapologetically. Stay away from this place. There's a FedEx in the same mall. No surprise that the UPS store is always empty and the FedEx one isn't. read more

My company uses UPS for all of its shipping needs and I went to the store to send out 20 holiday packages to prospects/clients but needed shipping envelopes. The guy working their said they do not provide them and I need to go get them on my own??? Really? I'm spending over $300 in shipping and you can't give me envelopes? I then went to the UPS store in Edgewater, NJ and they gave me all the envelopes I needed with a smile. The guys that work here just do not want to help you in anyway! I needed to send an irregular package to Brazil and had some questions. The clerk was so rude and unhelpful, he basically cut me off in the middle of the question and when I asked him to let me finish, he behaved even more rude, that I just left. Too bad, the Company just lost $467 and a good Client. I will never ever will go back there or any other DHL store. Walked in to ship a small package with prepaid UPS postage. Asked the guy at the desk for tape and he said there is $1 charge to use the tape. Didn't respond and just walked out. I've been a client of this particular UPS store for close to 20 years. Therefore, it's a bit of a shock to see so many negative reviews about the service of Dave, his son Josh and their staff. I think it bodes well to remember that independently owned and operated franchises have to cover all of their expenses themselves, so there is a certain limit in regards to how much inventory can be given to the customer base with no charge - the reviewers on this site don't know if it is a regular and ongoing request by customers and non-customers alike who walk into the store to ask for things (regular and ridiculous) done for free and at some point, being a responsible and fiscally prudent businessman, you have to curb your expenses to at least break even. That's not to excuse bad service or discourteous actions, but for two decades I have found Dave and his son and the various people who have worked for them always ready, willing and capable to help out in any particular situation - no matter what the situation, if you took the time to express your needs, they took the time to try to help you. I would beseech the people who write reviews to remember that not every body provides you service with a smile, possibly because you don't know what struggles and issues they are dealing with in trying to meet the daily grind of their operating expenses. I would only hope that people would be more tolerant and understanding. If the reviewers on this site truly knew Dave, they would know that he is a genuine, kind and very helpful person. read more

Why do I always have to ask for a receipt so I can track the very package which I am entrusting UPS to deliver? I have been coming to this location for 5 years and I am still made to feel as if I am imposing on the staff when I ask for a receipt. The staff is very absent in this stone. I've literally never used FedEx because UPS has always been so reliable and treated me so well. This store, however, is the extreme outlier. The guy behind the counter -- middle aged tall-ish white guy -- wouldn't accept a box I had to return to a retailer because "We're a franchised store, not a hub." This of course means nothing to me, because I don't work at UPS. So I asked him to explain what that meant. His response -- and the rest of the conversation thereafter -- was so condescending and so rude I literally walked out the door. What a belligerent f*ing ingrate. I think I'm going to call UPS corporate right after this and see if this is the kind of franchisee they want representing their company. If you need to send something via UPS, there's another location. Just head north on Sylvan, make a left on Palisade and it's right there. read more
