This is in reply to Tine B: I am the " handicapped man " that was in line ahead of you. I was standing there and not offered a chair by Mark, who greeted me by name as my family and I ( wife and three daughters representing the female contingent) have known Anna and Carlos on a professional basis for many many years now. I, and anyone else who regularly patronizes the store knows that we are perfectly welcome to go and sit at any of the workstations at any time we need to, and that we will be waited on in rotation. My wife and daughters have NEVER been treated with anything other than complete courtesy, nor have I ever seen ANYONE treated otherwise, and sometimes they don't deserve that courtesy. like when they are obstinate, unreasonable and have over inflated opinions of their own importance. While I was waiting for a LADY who offered to help me carry my parcels, I overheard part of your transaction. It seems that you had already logged your package in at another location and were angry at Carlos when you were told that, Yes, he could accept the package, but no- he could not issue a receipt for it because IT WAS ALREADY IN THE SYSTEM AT ANOTHER LOCATION. You were asking him for something ILLEGAL. A false document. I didn't hear the entire transaction, but I think that you were angry because you were being told "no". By a man. I wonder if you would have been so fast to throw labels around had it been Anna tending to you ( you were probably lucky it wasn't- she might have had a suggestion as to what you could do with your package) . This isn't about the crippled guy in front of you not getting offered a chair- it's about YOU being told "NO" , by a man who should be fawning over you because of whoever you think you are. If you were a member of this community ( I gather that you're not from your comments thank God) You would know that those people, as are almost ALL of the business owners and employees around here, are EXTREMELY helpful, friendly and accommodating. We have an awesome community here, it's something special. And although I thank you for looking out for the needs of a disabled person, even if you said nothing, I think that from the things that you said and the way you feel, it probably IS better that you take your business elsewhere. It is wonderful to hear that many people have good experiences with this particular location. Unfortunately, I have solely been met with rudeness and downright hateful demeanor. In particular, Carlos has an aggressive and hostile way of treating women. Yesterday, I was in line for a good amount of time. The gentleman in front of me was handicapped and had trouble standing. Rather than somehow letting him sit somewhere while in line, one of the clerks shouted "How are holding out there"? Once it was my turn, I dared ask a question about UPS in general. Carlos launched into a long-winded and condescending "mansplanation" while the line of waiting customers snaked out the door and down the sidewalk. I expressed concern and urgency after which I was snarled at and asked "Do you want me to send your envelope or not"? I left the store at 3 PM and saw on line that he only scanned it just before they closed. An aggressive and petty man. I will only come here again if there are no other options. read more

The only shipping store in town which, as a monopoly, gives them the ability to have an attitude. Over the last two years I have gone into this store three times because I had no other choice, each time hoping the experience would be better, it wasn't. EVERY time their attitude has been like they are annoyed you are bothering them. Unless you absolutely have no other choice then use HMB, but it's better to use the UPS store in Pacifica/Rockaway or the UPS store at 92 and Campus Dr. in San Mateo, Nice people in both locations. Or better yet start a competing shipping & mailbox business in HMB and offer real customer service. read more

At 12:10 p.m. on Friday May 20 I paid $ 109.17 and left a parcel at this store (receipt available if needed) to ship a parcel via USPS to England. Since the USPS tracking number still draws a blank on their Web page 3 days later, I phoned the UPS store. The call was answered promptly and courteously and the person on the other end provided the information I was seeking. This much is what merits the single star. However the "action" taken by UPS to date (Monday noon) is despicable to say the least. You see, the UPS store has not yet handed the parcel off to USPS which is less than a mile distant! The prospective recipient of the parcel sounds disappointed, so I am as well. Compounding the farce is the fact that on Friday afternoon I might have taken the parcel directly to the post office and that this a.m. errands took me past the Half Moon Bay Post Office again. My fault, I suppose, but I will not visit the UPS store again in the foreseeable future. read more

Really great service. The owner is always around, and he and the staff are friendly and helpful. One caveat is that the address of your mailbox will be pretty long because it will have both a suite # and a box #. But I always get my mail, even if the address is wrong. read more

This store is a pain in the neck to deal with. I have been there several times and each time the process gets longer and longer just to ship a package via UPS. Today, now it is a new form (to CYA) that has so much small type I could (had to be 15-20 sections) not even read it with bifocals. What should be a simple process where you give your phone number and all your data is stored has turned into a cumbersome process of filling out forms and fielding questions about how it's packed. It is all upsell and attempts to cover their backsides. I asked it this was UPS or their store policy - they told me it was THEIR STORE POLICY AND THIER FORMS. If you really want to use UPS, go to Staples. In and out in 5 min. Does not need to be this hard and time consuming. read more

Just a quick update. Service has been a little better at this store. Seems the employees that are there now take more pride in their work than last July. Manager/Owner has been very friendly and helpful. I still visit this store at least pnce a week. No problems since my first review. Hopefully it continues. read more

One star only because I can't give zero. I experienced the poorest example of customer service today at this business. I requested a document be scanned and handed off a usb drive to copy the document onto and then to be safe I asked for it to be emailed. The employee said "sure", never mentioning there was an additional $5 fee to send an email. Really $5 to send an email. When asked to pay over $11 for a scan I asked why it was so much and the casual response I received was the $5 flat fee. I complained that I was never advised that there was an additional cost to send an email but all the owner could say was we provided a service and you did not ask what it cost. Very disappointing. They have prices for other services on the walls and other areas so you might think they would volunteer that there is a cost especially after having it put on a memory stick. Silly to have an unhappy customer over $5 when they could have just admitted that they should tell people what something costs up front. Good job neighborhood UPS store. read more

I was in a rush and needed something printed from my phone. I called this UPS Store(AS IT WAS CLOSE TO WHERE I WAS) and they were a life saver. I didn't catch the name of the lady who helped me, but she was great! She printed everything for me, stapled it, and told me it was 10 cents a page. I was sold! This adventure started when my mom and dad had an emergency while visiting me. It meant they had to extend their stay and that they were unable to take their luggage on the plane when they left as they had to use walkers and wheel chairs to navigate. I called them and explained my issues and they were very courteous on the phone. They let me know what times I would have to have my stuff to the store to get overnight delivery (4:00 pm) and that they could help me pack it. We were set. The only staggering thing about the UPS store and their services are the prices. If we had to have our boxes there over night it would average about $125 per box...woa! We decided to go for a slower trip...saved us a lot of money. The service was awesome: they packed and boxed our items, no worries there. They were looking for a five day delivery, for costs sake. In the end, mom and dad were able to get on the plane with no worries about the luggage: which was our goal... It all came exactly on time, just as they said it would. The service has always been first rate, responsive and especially affordable so I do not need to have that same high quality technology at home. Excellent, professional service! Anna wrote me about a problem with two large packages I was trying to return. A friend with a truck packed them for me and dropped them off at this UPS, neglecting to add the return labels. Anna was lovely and understanding over the phone. I emailed the return label to her, and they are now en route to the vendor, saving me $500! This store cares about doing a good job, and I'm impressed and grateful! read more

I have had reason to use HMB UPS store many times and each and every one has been a positive experience. Sometimes I just wanted to ship something (even then, the thoroughness and consideration for proper packing, etc. was evident); but sometimes I wanted something printed and wasn't sure how to go about it (posters, signs, bubbleheads, Christmas cards and letters) They offered suggestions and trial runs. A lot of work can be done via e-mail which saves a trip or two. I appreciate them every time I go in and am only sorry it took me so long to share! read more

This UPS store is perfect for our small community. They are locally owned and it shows in the friendly way they treat customers. They provide specialty services that fill in so many gaps typically hard to find in our area, for example notary, packing and general shipping supplies. They have gone above and beyond during the pandemic, as well, staying open and continuing to provide linkage to the outside world. Really great owners and staff. read more

I just walked out from there and experienced the most awful experience. The gentleman helping me was very helpful and nice! I would give him 5 starts. But the guy working with him, MARC, was extremely rude to a customer. An older lady was confused with their line. She walked up to an empty register, trying to gather what she was bringing in. Marc made a comment and said, who called her to the counter. As he was helping a customer, he continued making comments looking at the lady. He said, "sorry Karen, it doesn't work that way. There's a line." Eventually the lady herd the rude comments he was making. The lady got really nervous and tried to explain she didn't know how the line was working. Hence, she didn't even cut anyone. When it was finally her turn, the lady was mad already at how rude MARC was. I would be too. She tried to explain again she didn't know. MARC continued to try and make her feel bad. "Like you doesn't see the line placements I did on the floor? " and basically refusing to believe and and being rude about it. As she lady then tried to show him her code, he straight mugged her and would not stop staring at her rudely. The lady left furious. And Marc said, "ignorance is not an excuse" I felt horrible for not defending her. I tried to leave quick to catch up to comfort her but she was gone. She left mad and shaky!MARC was very intimidating and extremely rude! He should not be allowed to work there!!! The lady really made the most innocent mistake, and she didn't even cut anyone anyways for him to be that rude!! read more

About a year ago I was in a nightmare situation. I work for a corporation that had bought out the Ritz Carlton for an annual 4-day event. As part of one of the activities, the planning team (which I was apart of) had purchased over $15,000 worth of different sporting equipment off Amazon to assemble and donate to charity. Unfortunately, just a couple days before the event, the whole thing got cancelled. They tried to recoup as much of the lost costs as possible which resulted in me having to return over 50 shipments of amazon items back to their sellers as everything had already been delivered to the hotel. I spent almost three full days days shuttling shipments between the Ritz and this UPS store and the staff was the only reason I didn't lose my mind. I wish I could still remember the name of the man who helped me, but after I had explained my story, he always greeted me with a smile, helped me box and package truck-full shipments. I was even surprised when he advised me to go to USPS for cheaper shipping costs for a few shipments based on their return location. Overall great service, the staff was friendly, and worked quickly, and made the whole process relatively easy given the tediousness of the tasks I was given. read more

The UPS store in Half Moon Bay is excellent. I believe it was Stephanie and Chris that worked with me on this project, but I have got excellent service from everyone I've worked with here. We had a death in the family and had to send out about 750 notifications to various people. Stephanie and Chris helped me print out all the notifications and envelopes. I was very sad and stressed out and they were very understanding and kind. My order was completed very quickly. At one point when we were discussing options, I told them to use their best judgment. The options they chose were better than what I would have come up with. They made a difficult job a lot easier, at a very tough time in my life. I cannot thank them enough. All the other times I've been in there they have been fantastic as well. read more

I just have to say, that the peeps in the Half Moon Bay UPS store are the best! Every year they help me make my Christmas cards, as well as helping me with other projects throughout the year. They are nothing like Kinkos, where they point you in the direction of one of their complicated machines and say, "good luck..." They saved our $100 Christmas gift! We recycle our packing Styrofoam "peanuts" by bringing them to this store for re-use. Unbeknownst to me, my mother in law had put a very small package at the bottom our box of gifts so it accidentally was left in the box of peanuts. We would never have known that we were missing a $100 check from her EXCEPT that the UPS store found it, unwrapped it, and then TRACKED DOWN MY MOTHER IN LAW to find out who it was intended for. They called us and we came to pick it up. In addition to the great customer service they always offer, now they are Christmas elves. read more
