I stopped by the UPS Store in Martinez to ship a small package (about the size of a shoebox) and expected to pay for a box, totally fair. What wasn't fair was how everything else was handled. I was quoted $23 for a box, which I later found out included Styrofoam packing and "labor." When I said I'd just pack it myself, the employee asked if I brought tape. When I said no, he told me they charge $2.99 just to use their tape. Meanwhile, the employee next to him was taping up boxes for other customers for free, which made the whole situation even more confusing and frustrating. I asked for the cheapest shipping option to New Jersey and was told it would be $40. I double-checked multiple times to see if there was anything cheaper and was told no. At that point, I was looking at nearly $70 total just to ship a small package, which didn't sit right with me. I decided to walk out and come back another time with my own box. The next day, I went to a different UPS Store and got a box and shipped the same package for just under $30. less than half of what I was quoted here. This place felt like it was full of upsells and unnecessary add-ons, especially from the older gentleman who was helping me. I'd strongly recommend double-checking every charge if you end up here. I'll be honest, I already knew this location had a reputation for long lines and poor customer service, but I was in a pinch. Lesson learned. There are much better UPS Stores out there. I will NEVER come back to this location. read more

I went to the UPS Store in Martinez Ca and I was extremely impressed with all the employees, especially a woman working there who does the notarizing. I needed 9 pages notarized and she was excellent. She's very kind and provided the best customer service I could have expected. A truly wonderful employee and deserves recognition! read more

This store has to be the most dumbest ups I was standing in the store with a huge 7 foot carpet I said hi to the two employees while they finished a client before me and after I kneeled to tie my shoe lace they took the next person and I told her I was next and the representative looked at me and said that be been standing in the incorrect line and I said the representative clearly sees I'm holding a 7 foot carpet waiting to return and there is not a single sign that shows "LINE" to know where to stance. The older representative lady the notary lady is so rude and the gentleman he's brand new I can tell because he was more worried about clocking out for lunch after 5 hours of working. The clients did feel bad that they seen me waiting that they offered but I did not trust the representative turning in my return the correct way. I will keep posting about this dilemma till I get a response. I will make sure no one shows respect. I'm 100000% it was because I was Mexican and the way I looked. read more

The owner is awful. I saw her attempting to talk to a woman that didn't speak English well, telling her that she needed to leave the store to buy a stamp so she could send her envelope. Long story short, the customer eventually communicated that she needed certified shipping and the owner took care of it. I felt helpless to help the customer because the owner was so rude and was so upset when I left. In the five minutes she took degrading the customer, she could have just pulled out google translate on a phone. It's what I would have done. This owner needs to find a new business that is not in customer service. Then my significant other went in to return a package to Amazon. There was an area that wasn't taped well and she made him buy a roll off tape, despite tape being tight behind her. Should have gone to Kohl's! read more

Aside from returning Amazon packages, I use this store to re-ship items my youngest son ordered from his new home is Massachusetts but entered his childhood home address instead of his new one! Lol. I like it, in a weird way, this will always be his home. Today when I went in I had boxes with incorrect labels and my granddaughter in my arms. They already had in the computers my son address from previous mailings. So they did the labels for me! It was very easy. This store hasn't let me down yet! read more

The service at this store is insanely slow. I feel bad for the employees because they're doing the best they can fielding returns, shipping packages, and dealing with some long and drawn out customer interactions, so this review IS NOT a reflection on them. Having said that, it is pretty absurd that this UPS store is so understaffed. I know UPS isn't hurting for money and they should spend some of that making sure there are enough people working at any given point to deal with all of their customers! The line sometimes goes out the door, which is not surprising since this is the only UPS store in Martinez and there's sometimes only one or two frazzled employees trying to deal with everyone. Hire more people UPS!! The current employees are great though, so don't blame them for this staffing issue. read more

Walked in with ZERO customers and was told to do my own returns via a self service kiosk. Why is anyone even working here? Bizarre

This happened about awhile but I've been too traumatized to leave a review. Their staff are incredibly rude and dismissive, I went in to scan my homework for an assignment I needed to turn in. A lady at the counter took my homework from me and didn't even say a word, scanned all my work, and then tried to charge me $30 for the scan, without telling me beforehand how much it would cost per page/etc.. When I told her I didn't know it costed that much she said "Well I assumed you knew how much it costed" with a ridiculously condescending smirk on her face. I work in customer service, I always make sure the customer knows how much they're paying for something before completing the service. Afterwards she screamed at me and told me to "get out and never come back," without even talking me through pricing. Looking at the reviews of other stores that this owner owns, it seems like a pattern that P.O.C customers are always treated less than and disrespectfully, maybe UPS should look into revoking ownership if they can't commit to creating welcoming and inclusive spaces for the community's they're attempting to serve. Honestly if I could give no stars I would because how I was treated is ridiculous. read more

Ups damaged my battery and i have to pay 203 dollars to ship it back and they wont reimburse me. Not only that each page to print is $3. What a rip off. They regularly do not deliver packages to my address and just throw them over the fence into the parking lot read more

I've been to this store 1000 times... To return things for Amazon, to print up a baJillian copies of stuff... and for most of my printing and art needs because they are very close to me. It was time for me to reapply for my passport, I went there to get pictures taken and then I spent $121 getting my passport couriered to Canada... Ya- as you've guessed, the pictures were denied because of bad quality. I went back to the store, Smiling and said- can you please help me... once I told him about my issue, nobody was very smiley back to me anymore. All I asked for was for them to retake the pictures and pay for the $121 postage that I wasted because their pictures were good enough... (I don't think that's too much to ask)... You took inadequate photos & government denied them... Can you please make this right ? After looking at the photos, the employees instantly stopped being nice to me ... the same people who have been smiling at me every time I've been there! Long story short, the owner came out and told me that the reasons I was denied my passport were ridiculous, and that she would not give me my money back -- but she would retake the photos for me... But would not follow all the rules that the government told me I had been denied because of (Writing the name of the photographer in the studio needed to be written on the back of the picture... And signed)... she kept telling me the government is wrong for denying them... Seriously--- don't take passport photos for another country unless u know the standards .... Please do your job better. (Seriously--You screwed up a trip that was planned and pre-paid)... everything would've been fine if you knew how to take pictures for a passport from another country. read more

Came here for notary services for my Lola. We waited. Since my Lola had a walker, it was nice enough for Robert to pull up a chair for her to sit on from the other side of the store. We waited for our turn and Robert took very good care of us. He was patient with her and was thorough in his job. As a former Notary, I can tell. Notary signature is charged at $15. One person working on a Sunday afternoon. The two groups ahead of me needed notary services, which, of course, takes some time. If I'd known that both parties needed notary services, I would have left, done another errand near by, and come back, but that was not communicated to me, nor the 8 other groups waiting behind me. This is not the employee's fault; of course he can't control what people need. What is in the employee's control, however, is the music choice in the store. He started playing Christian hymns, softly. People can play whatever they like, but a business should be conveying hospitality and welcome to all who enter. Not everyone who enters the store is Christian. I'll use another UPS store going forward. read more

Against my better judgement went to UPS to get something overnighted. Very important documents. As usual, they let me down. Never shipped and arrived the following day. Paid about $58 in shipping. Was told a refund is coming in the form of a check in 30-45 days?? WTF? Is this 1985? I will look forward to that around Christmas time I guess. Thanks for once again proving how horrible of a company UPS is. This is why I used FedEx ...never again. read more

Every other UPS store allows USPS drop offs, but I just went to this location and she refused. It was one small box that weight less than 3 pounds and she said unless it was an envelope, they couldn't accept. Why? It already had postage and was packaged it just needed to be picked up by USPS. I do this all the time at my other 2 UPS stores without issue and have done it at plenty others. Not sure what the problem is with this location. Apparently this store commented on my review, but their comment was on an Amazon return. I did not try to make an Amazon return nor did I mention anything about Amazon so clearly they don't listen to their customers. read more

I really love this UPS store. I have been going here a lot lately for my shipping needs. I gave up on trusting the postal service. I also been using this store for my Notary needs as well. I was really motivated to leave this review because of my most recent experience where Deana was helping me figure out a big complication I was having with shipping multiple items and a big box. She spent so much time with all the shipping problems that I had in solving the issue making phone calls to help figure things out and we're finding the best most affordable way for me. It was a great experience for me because the service was super friendly and I really felt like someone cared about me. We have known many of the workers here for years they are all extremely patient and knowledgeable. They are kind and good at their jobs they assist in every way they can. We have had a mail box here as well and always had nothing but spectacular service! If the line is long it is simply because they are doing a thorough good job - also they have a kids toy play area for little ones to stay entertained while you wait! read more

Ok so my wife and I have been going here for yeeeeeears. I guess the previous Owner retired and the new owner implemented a ton of new fees. Im going to make this as simple as I can. I went in to return an Amazon package, the bar code was on my phone, the sales guy said I had to email it to him so he could print it and attach the new sticker to the box. Ok so I did that, then he said new owner charges to tape boxes, he charged me $2.00 for a 6" piece of tape, then I found out he charged me $3.00 to send the email that had the bar code. So anyways what use to be a great store is now a POS, I will go downtown to Pakmail going forward, this spot is a joke the new owner is a joke. read more

iPad at the end Sometimes for I sell online. I print my prepaid label and bypass the line and place my package on the counter. I do this a lot. Never had a problem. Well, I rarely use UPS but I had no reason to think they would be any different than usps or fed ex who have never messed up. I dropped my package. Walked by the big line. Talked with the lady who said yes I can leave my package on the counter and then she announced to the line that others were welcome to do the same if they pre paid. Just like normal. Noticed the next day that it still said my label had just been created. It had yet to be scanned. I called to make sure everything was ok. Perhaps my package weight was over and I need to go back or something like that. When I call the man was rude. Said they scanned everything and can't help me. Well now it is 4 days later and still no tracking info. Look at the video camera people. You lost my package!!! There was a line of 15 people. If I can not drop my package like I do everywhere else then I will not use ups. If you go here make sure you get a receipt. This was my fault I guess for not getting one. Not reliable at all and rude! Updating my review because the owner?manager? did reach out but I was out of town. I am sure the situation was due to something I did wrong with the tracking numbers. I don't work for a shipping company so I have things to learn. So to her, thank you! I could have used this customer service and knowledge from the get go. I came in with a UPS return tag on my phone and asked the girl at the counter if she could scan the barcode off my phone and print a label to stick on the package. (FedEx does this all the time.) She told me just email it to them at their email address, which I did, then she prints off a label for me, scans the package in and THEN, after all this, tells me that it's $3.30 to print ONE sheet of 8 1/2 x 11 paper (the label). I pointed out I was not expecting to have to pay to get a return label. All I got was a shrug and, "well that would make my life a lot easier". No idea what that's supposed to mean. Maybe life would be easier if customers were told upfront what to expect? I suppose I can understand why they aren't forthcoming enough to provide that information, because if she had told me the ridiculous price, I never would have accepted it. read more

Changed hours of operation with out notice. After 6 years of being a faithful patron, I'm done!!! Changed hours without notice to a time I can't retrieve box items. New ownership extremely unprofessional! Franchise should be revoked!!! Already filled a claim with AMAZON, now filled a claim with the UPS store franchise!!! New owner Jeenu Singh is the worst! She refused to track an outbound shipment that I had a verification shipment tracking. Indicating it was an Amazon issue, in reality it was sent back to the same UPS store missed labeled weeks later! I provided her the original documentation reflecting that it was shipped, when I asked for it to be returned she said it was lost and would need to find it, obviously concealing their error!!! read more

Generally have a good experience here, and I appreciate that this location follows Covid protocols and has marked spots on the floor to wait. And if you want to close at 6:55 that's cool BUT your sign needs to say that! Really irritating to rush from home to get here at 6:55 to drop something off (not to create a shipment from scratch!) only to find the doors locked. A woman looked at me through the glass and mouthed "We're closed" while I compared the time on my watch to the time posted in the window. If I had a choice, I would go elsewhere. read more

Horrible horrible horrible experience. I will never go back to this store again . Dena was very rude, unprofessional, rude customer service and started screaming at me infront of customers today. I kindly called Martinez Police to do a welfare check. She is rude and out of control and should not be working at the UPS store. Customers deserve much better treatment. Today, I've visited the store just to get a print out. As soon as I walk in the store, I was greeted by the sales associate she was assisting other people, but she made a point to acknowledge me. I was taking back because you don't experience that type of customer service these days. As I waited for her to service me, she printed out my paperwork and notice that I would need additional service she offered the service and the service was complete. I hadn't even planned on getting that service done. I didn't even know that they offered the service. The second young lady came out and did my life scan. It was just excellent took her time explain everything in depth to me. It was the overall great experience. Thank you ladies for making my day and restoring my faith in customer service. read more
