My goodness, I just had one of the most shocking customer service experiences of my life. Now we all know that the woman who works here is awful. You know, the one that mutters a constant stream of obscenities under her breath while rolling her eyes at you, like she's desperately trying to cast a spell that would either knock you dead or transport her to somewhere else she would rather be. Well I know that everyone has a bad day once in a while, and I've tried SO hard to be nice to her, but today was just a step too far. I brought in a hard drive that needed to go in for repairs. 17"x12"x2" with some bubble wrap around it in a box. Total weight of 6lbs. She quoted me $87 ($42 for ground shipping and $45 for the box and packing). Now I've been going to the UPS Store for years, and I'm no stranger to their rates, but this was about twice as high as their usual high prices and clearly designed to get me out of the store. It worked. Because the moment I walked in the door and she saw the hard drive she lay her head down and shook it in her arms. I was her only customer and I stood there right in front of her for more than 10 seconds while she had this little tantrum. God forbid she might have to do her job. I told her I needed bubble wrap and she snapped at me, "yes, obviously". Just so rude. Finally she inflated the price to a level she figured would drive me away. You know what? I'm tired of her. I'm tired of dealing with her schizophrenic bullshit. When I see people like her on the subway or in the street I feel sorry for them and wish I could help but all she does is take it out on her customers, and if she'll LIE about prices in order to not have to do her job then it's time for her to go. I've logged a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and The UPS Store Corporate HQ. I'll follow up here if and when there's any development. I urge all of you to consider doing the same. As you FiDi residents know, there aren't a lot of options for ship centers down here and I hope that one day I'm able to use this one again. read more

FIrst, UPS Stores are independently owned and operated and so this review does NOT reflect the honesty or service quality of other UPS Stores anywhere else. This store has pleasant staff but the prices are ridiculous. We shipped several boxes from this store to the tune of over $500. HALF of the boxes didn't make it through to the destination, and UPS is supposed to insure this. UPS Stores have a slightly different policy, in that the store ITSELF insures the package, and UPS will refer you to them for any claims. When I called UPS, they referred me to the UPS Store location. We called the location and asked what their policy was regarding lost items and packages. Instead of running a trace on the boxes, my assistant and I were called several nasty names and told that it wasn't their problem. When we called UPS to complain about this, someone there took some notes and advised us to take things up with American Express, the card we used to pay for shipping. That's right, UPS corporate advised US to seek a claim against a UPS store for damages with our credit card company! Whaaaat? We called AMEX and they were awesome as usual. They disputed the charges (for shipping, unfortunately NOT for the lost packages, DESPITE us purchasing extra insurance on EACH box from the UPS Store which they refused to honor!) Well, we won the dispute, but that's not the end. This shady-arse UPS Store is forced to credit us our money back, and waits approximately 90 days (coincidence? I think not) to FRAUDULENTLY run our AMEX cards for the full amount again. Big mistake. When we checked the statements, we noticed the charges and called Amex back because we were under the impression we had won the dispute -turns out we had indeed won. Now, AMEX has filed a fraud claim against this UPS Store, we've been credited the amount again, and all I can do is warn fellow Yelpers against doing business here, lest you be subject to the same treatment as we were, but perhaps not get so lucky. So, 1) go out and get an American Express card, and, 2) stay the heck away from this UPS Store in lower Manhattan! read more

Negative. I WILL NEVER go back to this store. The lady immediately started shaking her head at me as soon as I walked in the door. I kindly asked, "Do you have tape I can buy or use to tape this up?" She continually shook her head at me, grabbed the box and said, " You are done here, LEAVE." I was in such shock that I didn't ask for a confirmation receipt and left. She won. UPS STORE # 5296 64 Beaver ST. deserves 0 stars.... THIS IS A VERY POOR REPRESENTATION OF THE BRAND! I'm a FIDI resident and I've lived on William street for 3 years. I've walked past this UPS store countless times, and unfortunately I recently opened a mailbox at the UPS Beaver street location. I advise everyone who reads this review to beware of the extremely unacceptable customer service provided at this location. My deepest regret, is that I did not read the reviews provided by others about this store first. This store is NOTORIOUS for horrible customer service e.g. ARGUMENTATIVE responses, lack of interaction with customers (hiding in the back office while customers wait), BLAMING the carriers (FEDEX/DHL) for loosing your packages and making YOU the customer feel uncomfortable to ask for answers and resolutions to PROBLEMS CREATED BY THE STAFF UNSATISFACTORY package handling, did I mention LOST packages? 5-stars for exceptional customer service for this UPS branch! I have been looking for a NYC mailbox and inquired their mailbox services via e-mail. Tarek, the Store Owner responded so quickly and gave a complete explanation of everything. He was very patient, friendly and professional in answering my questions. He made the process very easy. Even if I haven't set foot on this branch yet, I feel very welcomed already. Of course we got their mailbox service and very happy that we did. Worst shipping experiences of my life. If you are stuck using this store because of proximity, opt for UPS pickup or Staples/FedEx. The two main employees (maybe the owners?) are a man and a woman. They are really bad at dealing with people. They quote the wrong prices, can't handle any questions, and take any opportunity they can to roll their eyes or talk under their breath. I've sadly had to use this store for emergencies 3 times now and each time I got multiple eye rolls, verbal sighs, and some of the worst customer service I have ever experienced. The last trip here, I had to explain to the person behind the counter how their custom boxes for larger items worked. How they can be cut down to fit objects better. A better fit means a safer shipping process, less movement in the box. It is hard to blame the person, because I suspect they either get poor training or the turnover is too high to let them learn the ropes. It is a shame because most UPS stores that I have used were great. I suppose when dealing with franchises you always run into a bad egg. This specific store must live off of its solid location alone, because I suspect there are no word of mouth recommendations coming their way. read more

This place blows. And by place, I mean its staff. No greeting by either staff. One who looked like she had just arrived via her Alaskan sled. Get comfortable, woman. You're at work now and it's 54 degrees outside. I welcomed myself to their countertop, said hello and asked if they also service USPS as some of these stores do. She abruptly snarls, "no" and begins to walk away!!! She gets my infamous wtf face and a "well, then may I please have UPS pricing for these two boxes?" She asked repeatedly for my shipping zip code. Is there an option for negative stars? The manager of the store just yelled at me within 5 seconds of our interaction. Me: "I have a tracking number" Him: "Is you name here?" Flips the screen, and didn't bother to ask me for my name "Your name not here, PACKAGE NOT HERE!!!!" Absolutely THE WORST!!! NEGATIVE 5 stars.. First, they lied "no fee for delivering to their location" (yes, there is and when I explained I had called before shipping and was told there wasn't a fee- the mgr asked for proof. (Unless I illegally recorded the conversion, I am not sure what proof one could have.) Secondly, after spending $200 to ship overnight/delivery on Saturday - 1 package was lost by UPS (still hasn't arrived). The 2nd package went through a failed attempt (store doesn't open until 11) and was finally delivered at 1:39 (according to updated UPS site at 4:12 AFTER store is closed) but this store said they didn't have it when we called at 2pm. AVOID USING THIS PLACE AND, honestly, UPS. (Btw...as a point of reference: Fed Ex delivers to their stores; texts you when it arrives and doesn't charge you irrespective of whether it is a Fed Ex location or franchise. Why no downtown Fed Ex stores are open on Saturday... I have no clue but this experience ensures me never doing this again and NEVER using this store in any capacity.) read more

Very rude employee. I came here to try to get an issue with a UPS shipment I made addressed because it was the only UPS store in the neighborhood and she told me they are not a UPS store they are a franchise location and they can't look anything up regarding shipments made at other UPS stores ... despite you know the giant sign that says "the UPS store." Literally made no sense given that anybody can look up shipments made at other UPS stores with tracking number. Anyway, unprofessional service from this woman. While Jackie is friendly, helpful and super sweet, I would still STRONGLY advise that you visit another UPS location or shipping company. The older Eastern European lady is rude and overtly rolls her eyes at you. The Asian store owner fails to understand Customer Service or just social etiquette in general - he just raises his voice and talks over you. When I asked why the fees for Scanning Services are not displayed, he yells "this is a new Service and I already told you the price." I responded "Yes, but as a trading Business, don't you think your prices should be listed and visible to customers" which makes him more irate and defensive and he snaps "Look lady, I already told you the price!" His shouting was unnecessary. All he needed to say was "Scanning is a new Service we have recently introduced and while we haven't produced the Price List as yet, they are what I quoted you." Made an appointment online for this store to use their notary service. I arrived at the appointed date/time to a completely empty store. A disembodied voice yells at me from somewhere in the depths of back of the store behind the counter. Finally a UPS member of staff, presumably the one to whom the voice belonged, turns up at the counter. The notary doesn't work on weekends she says and shrugs. I understand that the issue of the website allowing you to make appointments when the notary isn't there is not the immediate instore staff's fault, but some basic customer service would have gone a long way instead of the complete and utter apathy I got instead. The first time I went to this store, the "lady" took my package and said "that's it" and I said "I would like a receipt" and she got very furious. I believe you should be given a receipt without you even having to ask for one. After that I've dropped off about 10 or so packages and the "lady" does not answer to things like "good morning, good afternoon or thank you", her latest act is just pointing to the scale as if she does not want to be touching the package I the same time I do. My PACKAGE WAS STOLEN at this location!!! Last Thursday I dropped off 2 packages ( Amazon returns: #1 a cell phone #2 a diamond ring) Cell phone was scanned in but the ring was not. When I walked in the lady didn't even bother to get up just pointed me to the bin and said put it there. I should have made her get up and scan it in front of me since these both were very expensive items. Luckily they have cameras there and so does my job which can clearly prove I dropped off 2 packages. Just upset I have to get NYPD involved and spend my time on it. I wanted to return an old laptop to IBM for recycling. IBM works with UPS Stores on such returns - the UPS Stores package and ship the computers, then bill any charges to an IBM corporate code. As it turns out, this particular store owner doesn't like this policy and so refuses to honor it. The store owner was very rude. He told ME to call the IBM people and inform them that he wasn't packaging and shipping such computers anymore. Apparently, this store has so many customers that they can do without my business. This location is in the heart of the FD downtown. It's single employee appears to be bored and hates her life. She lazily helped each customer in line with the contempt of someone who just doesn't give a shit about anything, especially her job. Not unfriendly, per say, but certainly not warm. Maybe she was a robot. Plus, the store was a mess with boxes laying around everywhere and positively stunk like stale farts. A Rumba would have been a better store employee. I have been to this location twice now. Once for notary services and the second time for shipping. The man the does the notary is extremely rude and curt as if I was bothering him by asking him to perform his job. The second time I went in, today, I needed to ship a small gift. I walked in the store and no employee could be found so I stood there for two minutes. Then the woman walks out from the back with an also attitude. I asked if there were any boxes for shipping and she pointed me to a wall of envelopes. I asked again if there were boxes and she was again short, and rude in her reply. DO. NOT. COME. HERE. I mean it. Seriously, save yourself the headache and walk to a different UPS Store location or even spend the money to Uber if you have to. This store's customer service is the absolute WORST customer service I've EVER encountered. After a nightmare experience where the seven packages I paid $450 to ship across the country arrived literally falling apart, the store owner (who I had to contact per UPS Corporate) had the audacity to yell at me. This comes after the several other negative customer service experiences I had at this store while trying to ship my packages and the UPS delivery driver who sarcastically claimed the damage was "all his fault" before literally tossing the boxes onto the ground upon delivery. I don't want to get into it because I'm still reeling over the negative experiences I had. I will say that UPS Corporate office was great to work with, but it still took more than seven weeks from when my packages were shipped for any sort of resolution. Awful customer service. Two days in a row I had to drop off a package. Pre-addressed, pre-paid. I just wanted a receipt for proof of delivery. Both times the place was empty and the lady at the desk just motioned to drop it off at the bin. When I asked politely to "get a receipt please" the woman let out a big sigh, rolled her eyes and slowly reluctantly scanned my package and gave me a receipt. It was like I asked to punch her grandmother in the face or something rather than ask for a standard proof of acceptance. I realize people have bad days esp working in retail. But the second day was exactly the same. On the second day after I got my receipt I even said "thank you, have a nice day" and she just looked at her screen and completely ignored me. Pretty damn rude. EDIT. Turns out the package I dropped off the second time around was lost. After days of nothing on tracking, I called UPS and they told me the package I shipped 2nd day air had no records of scanning except when it was accepted by this UPS store. I went to the UPS store and a young Asian woman was working there checked my receipt and then screamed at someone in the back whether or not someone picked up the package last Friday. She then said, "it's not in our store, you have to file a claim at UPS." At no point did she even ATTEMPT look around the small store to see if it's been misplaced or fallen behind a box. After filing a claim on the phone while there, the customer service woman asked me to ask the woman to see if it was misplaced somewhere in the store. I politely asked her to check and she simply REFUSED. She said, "it's not here," I asked very politely for her to see if she can check if it's fallen somewhere, it would take less than 5 minutes. She simply said no and that there were no parcels here (the entire place is literally littered with hundreds of boxes and packages everywhere) and she simply refused to even TRY to check. I asked for her name and said if "I speak to UPS I should tell them that you LOOKED (stressing looked) and said nothing was there?" She said "yes you can tell them that I said so." This is a package sent via 2nd day air, the most expensive shipping product they have and contained two concert tickets totaling $500. You can see why I am irked. This place is completely irresponsible. There has been so many complaints here and on YELP about this place and it's always the same deal. Rude people, lost packages, and it seems no one does anything. I will not be coming here again and I suggest you don't either. Giving these people money is like paying someone to slap you across the face and spit in your eye. read more

This UPS store is an absolute nightmare to deal with; avoid at all costs (there is another one on Fulton Street which seems slightly better). The manager (Edward Xu) is rude and uncooperative. He is completely unprofessional, tends to become abusive on the phone, and cannot keep his cool. On top of all this, his English is incomprehensible. None of the staff are any better; they seem to take breaks every hour or so, and will start yelling for almost anything. I paid them $65 to professionally pack and ship a TV set, and they did a completely inadequate job. They wrapped the TV with a sheet of cardboard and bubble wrap, and threw it in a box with a few packing peanuts. Obviously, it arrived with the screen completely shattered. I tried chasing them for an insurance claim, and it turned into a long shouting match over several days (never got my money, just ended up filing a formal complaint). In general, I would always suggest to pick FedEx office over the UPS store (better equipment, better trained staff), but suggest to avoid this one in particular. read more

If you can use another UPS store, I would. The woman, Jacqueline who works here could NOT be any more rude. I was in the store for almost 10 minutes before she acknowledged me. She finally came out from the back and had her back to me for another few minutes before even turning around. It was insane. Then proceeds to take a phone call and start helping the person on the phone, instead of asking them to hold, while she's holding my box and ID in her hands. Made me wait for her entire phone call before handing me my box. In this time, i also got at least three eye rolls. Was a horrible experience. This place is a nightmare. I had to have my fingerprints taken for a pre-employment screening. I walked in at 1:30pm to an entirely empty store, minus the 2 employees sitting behind the counter. I told them I have an appointment for fingerprinting. The one girl was very nice and said sure, I just need some information. The other "woman" sitting in a chair text messaging didn't even lift her head up and said "WHAT TIME?". I told her the appointment is for 2pm, and she continued to text. When I asked if she would do the fingerprints she said "No, that's what they make appointments for, we're too busy". There was literally nobody in the store, and they were both sitting on chairs doing nothing. Finally 2pm rolls around and this woman stands up and says "Let's go, give me your ID". I feel bad for anyone who has to deal with this store, and more specifically, this woman. She is a middle-aged woman of European decent with a thick accent. Avoid her at all costs. read more
