Terrible service. The woman at the register didn't greet me when I walked in the door. When I placed my Amazon return which was in an appropriate box, she told me I could "just go scan it at the kiosk ". Then she said "whatever, I'll just take it". She proceeds to tell me my return is not in an appropriate box and that I need to purchase another box for $15. I left and drove to the UPS store on Grove Ave and they approved the box I had it in, asked no questions and gave me my receipt. read more

My shipment was never scanned, vanished without a trace, and the staff gave conflicting excuses. What I saw there was complete chaos -- packages stacked carelessly, no accountability, and no effort to resolve problems. Even though it carries the UPS name, this store is a franchise location and operates with no professional oversight. Do not assume the UPS logo means your package is safe here. Incredibly rude, unhelpful, and unfriendly service. I had a package shipped here while I was out of town, and the deadline to pick it up was the day I got back, which was perfect. For some reason, the pickup date changed one business day sooner. I called about this discrepancy and the team here said they'd ship it back to the sender if I didn't pick it up by their new deadline. I was out of town and had to have a friend get it for me, since they were unwilling to hold it until the original pickup date (just the next business day!) when I was back and able to get it. As a neighborhood store in a small city, I expect a little more neighborly kindness and flexibility. It would have cost them nothing to hold onto my package until the next business day, or to at least treat me with some decency and empathy. Terrible experience with the supervisor, Patrick, and the team at this location. It felt like they were on a power trip of some sort and holding my shipment hostage from me. I'll never use this location again and will plan to use FedEx next time. Update: after telling me a friend could pick it up for me with written permission, this store refused to let them pick it up. I shipped a package to Indiana via UPS. The recipient had bought an item on eBay and paid for the shipping. After bouncing around for more than a week the package was returned to me labeled "delivery refused." The purchaser had not refused the delivery, and their doorbell camera showed that no delivery had been attempted. I took the package back to the UPS store in Carytown where I had shipped it. I told them what happened and they said they had nothing to do with UPS deliveries. They told me they are simply a franchise shipping outlet and what happens to the packages after they leave is of no concern to them whatsoever. They told me I would have to work it out with UPS corporate. They gave me a number to call. At no point did anyone express anything close to an apology that my package hadn't been delivered. When I got UPS corporate on the phone after 20 minutes of being on hold and being shuffled from person to person they told me I would have to take it up at the store. I told him I was at the store and had them speak directly to the manager. Both the UPS store and UPS corporate said there was nothing they could do and refused to reship the item unless I paid again. The manager of the UPS store in Carytown was abrupt and unconcerned that my package hadn't been delivered. She seemed annoyed that I was annoyed that she was telling me I had to pay a second time for a service I had already paid for. I will never use UPS or the Carytown UPS "franchise" ever again. read more

I will never return to this UPS location in Carytown--even though it is the closest to my home in the Fan. The employees who work at the front counter are simply rude. After waiting at the counter for someone to come from the back room to wait on me, they acted like they were annoyed that I was even there. There was no eye contact with me, no greeting of any kind when I entered, when I paid, or when I left. The employee was surly the entire time. To top it all off, a package I shipped from this store May 2 to a residential location in Richmond JUST arrived yesterday, August 30. I will NEVER return to this UPS location. You should not go there either under any circumstances. There is another much more courteous UPS location down the street on Thompson across from Ellwood Thompson grocery. Go there. read more

I came here yesterday to ship off two packages for my amazon return. I walked in and the first employee was not super friendly by telling me I had the wrong barcode. Ok, no problem. I felt like he was extremely annoyed with me so I stepped off to the side to figure out the correct barcode I would need. By the time I figured it out, I was helped by another employee who was much friendlier but this employee charged me for a box to send my amazon return in - which I believe with amazon returns I could come in with no box and no label and both would be provided for me. At least, that is what I was told by amazon. This location is very popular because it's in a very busy part of Richmond. I hope for friendlier and more knowledgeable staff here next time! read more

The day after New Years Day and this location "Can't take packages because they are at capacity".....said the lady as I walked in the door. She told me that there are signs on the door and "have a nice day". Quite nasty and condescending. My thoughts: What? You have floor space for my pre-labeled returns. What's the problem? Located in the heart of Carytown, this UPS store is at a convenient location & stays open later than most post offices. From amazon returns to personal mails, I have used this UPS store and am always out the door within 5-10 minutes. Everyone is nice and I have never had any problems! read more

I've come here off and on when I need to get a quick shipping label printed. I've never paid more than 10c for a copy or they haven't charged me at all. Today the woman tells me AFTER the fact it's a DOLLAR to print one piece of paper. I thought it was a joke. The woman explained that the owner has to pay for ink and paper too, but with that kind of mark up...insanity. A bummer because this place was so convenient but that is just ludicrous. To whom it Matters: My name is Eugene Pendleton and I am a frequent customer at Carytown UPS Store in Richmond VA. Because I am a small business owner, finding satellite operations for mailing, copies, faxing and email access is imperative. Carytown UPS has been that invaluable partner for me. At least 3 times a week I use the services at that location. The store is always clean and service is always prompt. However I'm most impressed with the people who work there providing the service. Polite, professional, knowledgeable and busy old fashion friendly is what I always encounter and what continues to make me return over and over. As a business owner, I know first hand the public can be very critical and moody but in spite of that I have witnessed the staff and manager navigate situations all in a highly professional manner. I've always had prompt, courteous service here- easy access to the computer and copier for projects.

So I came here to take a non-voluntary safe driving test. I walked up to the counter and the man at the counter said that they "have a reservation system" of which I immediately thought in my head "why did I wait until the day before court to do this?" ...lucky for me, the last reservation was finishing up and it was my turn to take the test. I sit down at the computer, answer questions that weren't closely related to my 8-hour online course and passed with a 90%. The test took around 6 minutes. While I waited for the computer, people came in and out with small and large boxes trying to send things out so that they were "received BY TOMORROW!!!" Funny how people treat other people. Some guy was mailing a phone somewhere and he was a complete asshole to the representative. He came into the store around 5pm and demands that his package get to wherever (again) "BY TOMORRROW" So while this review may not be necessarily helpful...if I need to ship something, somewhere...I'm going here! (or FedEx) Oh yeah...and regarding taking driving school, court dismissed my ticket because I took driving school before court...BOOOOYAH! read more

Noooo! I won't review a soul-less chain storeee! Ok, I will. All the traditional accoutrements of a post store, boxes, post boxes, shipping supplies, blah blah blah. The staff here is why I decided it was actually worth it to write a review. People have always been really nice to me here. Maybe I look like a mystery shopper or maybe I've accidentally voiced that I think most of the folks working here are terribly attractive but I've always gotten really stellar service. Usually I'm just dropping prepaid boxes off while there is nary another soul in here (mid day, btw) but I've occasionally needed to purchase shipping supplies. Once, when I could only roughly remember one of the dimensions of an object I was shipping, the clerk was SO helpful and offered SO many options that I found myself laughing. While laughing I had to tell him, "Just calm down! It's only a box!" To sum. I don't know if I look like a relative of the boss or what but people here have always been really nice to me in return for my regular level of normal human politeness. Smiling and saying hello goes a long way with these folks. read more

I was surpised to see how many people came in and out of the store in the 30 or so minutes that I was there. I bought $40 of boxes and bubble wrap for a neighbor that could not get out. They ended up not using them so I came back to this location with a receipt to return the boxes. The manager who was a bit rude told me they do not accept returns on shipping supplies. I asked where that was posted and he had no answer. It is not printed on the receipt or any place in the store. I know because I checked very thoroughly. After working for UPS 36 years I know these boxes were in perfect shape. Yet they refuse to return my money. I still recommend using UPS for shipping, just avoided this location at all costs. Ship and buy your supplies any place else. read more

This is a really bad store. The employees are rude and incompetent. Just look at it. It's a total mess. Not a good sign. Employee wanted to charge me 120 for a small package. FedEx wanted 29. I went and pick up my package from Amazon and I didn't have the info notice with me so I give him ID and this guy is so rude that he said "Oh we couldn't find your package here " it's all bec. He missed type my last name. And I supposedly pick up 2 packages from Amazon and from other retailer but then this rude employee said what kind package is it small or big and I said it's probably small and big cause there is 2 packages. But he only gave me one item and the box is tampered and it's been open and re tape. I know it's been open so I asked the employee why is the box damage or looks like tampered with tape. And he said. I don't know. And give me a bad look and talk to his co- employee. And after 20 mins I called my husband to send me a pic of the info notice if possible bec. he has it bec. He supposedly pick the other package last Wednesday June 3rd but the store is close already @4pm. And for my other package that is missing and I know it from heart Honestly God knows that they took it because it's a cash money worth $300. And after waiting for my husband to send me the pic of the info notice and he couldn't find it, I asked the employee if I can speak to the manager l. And he said there is no manager here and give me a scary look. And when I asked one last time the other employee to one last time and beg him to look one more time my package and he said and I mean way that" If he already said it's not there it's not there, and I'm busy. .. And I swear I wouldn't want to go back on this store bec. Employees doesn't follow the sign what they put up on their door too. The other is not wearing a mask while interacting with customer and very rude employees. So for the manager who works here at this location please address with this 2 guys who work on June 9 @ 4:45pm till 6pm.. Thanks.. I am very disappointed with the service here. I had ordered 25 simple color brochures to be copied and folded. When I arrived the brochures were ready but very sloppy. The edges were rough, uneven and scissor marks were all over them with pieces of paper hanging off. I said that I was sorry but couldn't pay for them being that they wer not correct, and the man at the counter said "huh, ok". He never apologized or asked if he could make them again . I will not be using this store for my printing needs again. read more

I am SO HAPPY to see that other people here have had bad experiences with this store. I was starting to think it was just me. Since the new manager/owner has taken over, everything has just gone to crap. Previously, the customer service here was stellar. The old manager really cared about her customers, emailed us when we had a package and actually remembered my name when I came in. But now, I hate coming to this store because everyone there is just so rude! They don't care about their customers. They always have angry faces and ignore you if you're there at a time that's inconvenient for them. And the last time I was there, the manager (blond lady with the frizzy hair) barked at me because some junk mail came to my box and she wanted to charge me for a larger box. Like, how am I supposed to be responsible for junk mail? I didn't sign up for spam. And why the aggressive tone? I'm a customer, not a criminal. They never let me know when my packages are there and barely care to look at me when I walk through the door. Even with the renovations, this place has just gone down hill. When I called them to get specific details about what I had been charged, they lied and said that that they could not help me; if I wanted answers I would have to call UPS. Fantastic service! I came here to drop off some books for an Amazon trade-in. Once I handed off the label and got my books weighed and measured, the guy told me I was ready to go! In and out in less than 5 minutes! Very impressed! Parking can be cramped since this it is in a pretty busy shopping center, but you shouldn't have a problem if you keep a good eye out. I came in with a bunch of cable equipment and a box sent to me by the cable company to return it in. I got up to the counter and I was still working on placing the equipment in my box and having some trouble. The woman asked me for the label to prepare it while I finished packing. All the sudden I hear her say, "Your total is $17.." and I react in concern, "What?! The cable people said it was all prepaid to ship back at no charge." She said the charge was for the box. I was so confused as I wasn't buying any boxes or anything in the store and only had what I brought in. She then pointed to the box I had brought with me claiming that was from their store. I said this is my box, I brought it here -- I assumed that would easily clear up the misunderstanding, but NOPE. She acted as if she did not believe me and picked up the box and "evaluated" it very closely turning it over and looking at it.. and that was INCREDIBLY insulting, as I felt like she was still implying I am trying to steal a cardboard box and lying about it.. (PS - a small box is $17, seriously?! I would go find one in a dumpster before paying that?!!). She finally takes the charge away and said I didn't owe anything, but I still felt she didn't believe me. I then realized I brought in the packing info that the cable company sent with the box so I pulled it out and showed it to her (it had a picture of MY box, cable logo, and how to put it together and everything!) and obviously she had no grounds to question me anymore, but I seriously cannot get over the fact that this even just happened and how she barely believed me without proof. Also, another reason for the poor review is that I was seriously struggling to get this equipment in the box and about to drop everything (on top of shaking from frustration/anxiety of the whole "box theft" situation), and even said, "it'd be nice if I had help," and never once did anyone working in there offer to assist me with things to help make it as quick & painless as possible to get my shipment taken care of, and that's upsetting, because other UPS/FedEx locations I've gone to will jump to help customers out with packages and packing them! I've even had one offer to trade my box size up for free to make getting the items in there easier to ship. Instead she actually took the liberty to tell me I was in the way for her to help other customers out while I struggled to pack the rest in frustration, and that I should go do it on the other side (so move everything and start over again) at that awkward table that was way too tall for me to stand and use. So basically to say the least, I was incredibly disappointed in this location and the way employees treat their customers there. read more

This store has been my "go to" since it opened. The staff is extremely professional, courteous and helpful. No matter how long the line is, each customer is greeted and, if recognized as a regular, they are greeted by name. They have helped me rectify shipping errors, not theirs, on several occasions. The store is always clean and organized. I originally used only their mail services, however, I am integrating their other offerings into my regular use. They always provide cost effective options for all my business needs. This store made me a loyal UPS costumer for life! read more

I sent a Package on December 19th, 2013 and was told it would arrive in Columbus, Ohio before Christmas. They mixed up my label and sent my package to Georgia. GEORGIA! What was worse was the way they handled it. I had to call at least 6-8 times to get any information on THEIR screw-up. I had to keep calling them to get any help. and they were also rude about it.
