There are a couple of great guys that work there that I've never had a problem with. However, I've had a problem with a female there as well as a newer employee there and have decided that I will drive a longer distance, unfortunately for me, to another UPS store so that I don't have to deal with these two people. With the female, I brought something in to return and everything got scanned, but then she told me that she un-did one of the scans and to bring it back in a few days to return it (?). I did that, and it showed that it had already been scanned previously (which means that she didn't un-scan it as she said she did). Instead of apologizing, she said curtly, you're going to have to call the company and have them send you another scan code. This was a burden to me that shouldn't have happened. I think if she would have apologized for her error, I wouldn't have had any problem at all, but people are so rude these days and unaccountable, I was very disappointed. The newer guy there, I'm sure he's a nice guy, but I think he's on some kind of speed drugs or something. He moves very fast, twiches and non-stop talking very fast. The first experience with him I asked if he would slow down in his speech because I was feeling nervous with the non-stop talking. He apologized again and again . . . and again and then continued to talk super fast. I told him that I couldn't understand what he was saying - my brain doesnt' work that fast. He just couldn't slow down and it left me feeling very nervous. The next time I was in and he was working, and when I wasn't responding to his constant talking, talking, talking and more non-sensical talking, he seemed to take offense. Having been a professional executive for my career, and knowing how to listen to people and respect their boundaries, I felt extremely uncomfortable with this guy as he had zero respect for mine. I need calm in my life and his haphazard continual talking, and talking so fast I can't understand what he's saying, was just the last straw. I don't believe it's in UPS's best interest to have him working with the public. Maybe stick him in the back to do work back there. He's also super slow at his work even though he's twitching and moving frantically. It's a pretty scary experience there for me. Last think I need, and probably others as well. Anyways, I won't be going there again, even though it's a super convenient location for me. I will drive 5 miles (instead of less than 1 mile) to go somewhere where they are more professional. This place has really gone downhill, except for the couple of guys that are great there. Good-bye UPS on Johnson! read more

I'm here on Sunday to see if they could ship this delicate dining room light fixture which Duncan is going to pack and ship. Duncan says they have a large enough box for it. He recommended shipping it rather than taking it on the train or plane It doesn't weigh much, but there's a "Large package fee" of about $200. Even the US Post Office charges for oversized packages I'm so glad that Duncan can package and ship this large package for me. It's such a great service. OMG my bad, I had my dining room light fixture insured for the larger model. I called Duncan and he had me come back in to re-run the transaction again for the lower amount. I've learned to avoid this location. Twice now I have been told they won't provide me with a small strip of tape to close up a package for shipping and I would need to buy a roll of tape. The one time they did it was like I was being given a piece of a gold and they were doing me such a huge favor. Tip: Go to the one on Broad st near Vons. When I was there last I was told by an employee that they will never charge you for a piece of tape (different management) and I've had nothing but great experiences there. read more

I don't always check in when I come in here but I'm here about once a month sending out random packages to family. I've been coming here for several years and this place is typically very busy. What I like about this particular location is the staff. They are always polite, respectful, helpful and quick. Having a pleasant person on the other side of the counter makes up for waiting in line (though it's never for too long). I have never had an issue here and would recommend (and have) this location to anyone needing to send something out, make copies, buy stamps, etc. read more

I've used this location a few times. All experiences have been okay, and today it was phenomenal! Between how Wendy helped me on the phone and Mario helped me in the store, I came in at 5 pm to get a letter overnighted across the state to arrive as early as 9 am (I chose 10:30 to give the recipient a chance to open up shop for the day). Did we even have to give one star? We would have preferred a "no star" option. We have been frequenting this location for quite a few years; the service has always been so-so and the wait and help time quite lengthy. But, the location is convenient which is why we have kept coming back. That is, until today. We were helped by Wendy, who I believe is the office manager, she was clearly exasperated the entire 45 minutes she was helping us; everything was a huge deal to her and we felt like a ginormous burden. We, the CUSTOMER. We then got YELLED at for trying to help another CUSTOMER by giving her 4 slips of paper (tracking sheets, that you can get free from USPS) but UPS only gives out 4 at a time, so we wanted to help her and gave her our 4. Oh no. Apparently that was crime! Needless to say, we will NEVER be coming back to this location. EVER. Even though the UPS on Tank Farm is across town, they have never ever treated us with anything but respect. Guess those few extra miles will be well worth it from now on. read more

This one is closest to work so I often go there to drop 2d UPS envelopes. More often than not, there is not enough help. I asked for a 2d ship box and they tried to sell me a box. I needed a UPS box and they didn't have any. I've been using the store in Marigold Center more and always find them with plenty of help at the front, cheerful and efficient. Long story short...they charged us $37 to ship an iPad and running shoes to LA. We were very tight on time as we had to make a flight so we did this but damn I feel violated. Worst case the packaging and freight costed those jackals $10 so we got a $27 screw job without a reach around. I haven't felt this taken advantage of since those shit birds at Spirt Airlines charged me $100 for a carry on. I get they are trying to make a profit and that it was ultimately my choice to use them, but it is also my choice to yelp a negative review and never go anywhere near this store or UPS again. Enjoy my $27 jerks cause that's the last of my money you will see. Tip: there is a USPS office a few blocks away...go there and then have a nice lunch with the money you saved. read more

This is a small UPS Store, with only one or two employees working with customers. But every time they've been helpful, patient, and friendly. When I'm rushed or unsure of what I need, I can always count on this place on helping me out. I took a box in to be sent to my daughter in Washington DC, yes far from San Luis Obispo CA. I had sent her a previous package there a few weeks earlier from the UPS store in Arroyo Grande, CA as it was closer to my home and on the weekend with no delivery problem. This time I decided to use the UPS store in San Luis Obispo as it was close to my work and it was during the weekday so I went during my lunch break. Well here's the problem, the box somehow got lost. My daughter was tracking it, also called and set it up to be taken to a store near her so she could pick it up. Well I guess that store is a franchise and they rejected it for whatever reason, apparently if they don't have room there or you don't have a PO Box set up there they don't have to receive it. Somehow the box ended up in the corporate location in Landover Maryland. When my daughter called again they told her it was going to be shipped to her place in DC. The corporate location sent it back to San Luis Obispo California. I called the store in San Luis Obispo they told me there are no refunds and if I wanted to re-ship the box I would have to pay another $82.97. I called the corporate office and they told me there was nothing they could do because it was sent from a franchise store. They tried to blame each other with no resolution, so I ended up picking the box up with no refund for the $82.97. I felt like the manager Megan didn't really care and gave me no other options. I will never go there again and good thing I taped up the box really well with all its travels. Super disappointed! read more

I ship a lot of packages and use both UPS locations in town. I never realized how great the other location was until I used this one, unfortunately. Even when not busy, the staff don't acknowledge customers on presentation and they did not direct me to where I should place my prelabeled package once I told them I was only dropping off. I'm patient and asked three times where I should leave it. I'd hate to be caught here during the holidays. If I needed actual assistance with shipping or printing or any other UPS services, I'd go elsewhere. Have not returned to this location. read more

Unfortunately, this business took advantage of my parents. They don't want to cause any fuss so they don't say anything when they think they're getting ripped off. I have shipped bicycles multiple times and it never cost me over $100. This UPS forced my parents to open an already packed box ( packed by a bike shop-- professionals in shipping bikes) and stick bubble wrap in the box when there was nothing wrong with the packing job. Additionally they charged my parents over $200 to ship this. I called 2 other ups locations in slo with the exact dimensions, weight and insured value and both locations said it would cost significantly less to ship this package -- half the cost. DO NOT GO TO THIS LOCATION the marigold and foothill locations are significantly better. read more

I had some ideas of what I was looking for with inexpensive being a critical part of my choice.
