The first time we went, we wanted to return something we ordered on Amazon. Since UPS services are advertised, we were surprised to find out that SSP does not have the necessary equipment required to provide this service. The second time we went was to buy stamps, so that was easy. The third time we went was for me to get a passport photo. We were informed that their camera was not working. So, two out of three times, we were unable to complete our task at SSP and went to the UPS Store on Linder. I just found out that a UPS Store will be coming to the Ridley's shopping center in Star. At this point, that will probably be where I go for my postal needs.

There is a friendly banter that seems fun and personable which I have observed with those who appear to be regulars. (I am new to Star) I recently witnessed a lady working in the front with pretty eyes who was so kind and patient with an elderly woman while she chatted. When I commented on how I appreciated that she did not rush this older lady, but took time to hear her story, she told me, " I have elderly clients come in that only buy one stamp maybe once or twice a week and I think this may be some of the only interactions they get. They just buy a stamp so they can have a brief conversation with someone." This warmed my heart, and I hope it warms yours. With people like this working here it makes me want to come back. Let's all remember this is the post office and not UPS or FedEx. They are not for profit and so they do not create our labels, or tape up our packages for us. Those are expectations for the profitable corporations that charge double. I still marvel that they will carry my letter across the United States for a fraction of a dollar. I know it has doubled since it was 33 cents in 1999. Uhhh, what about the cost of food in the last 5 years?

I checked the Yelp App and found a place near my next stop called Mail Room and More. It is in the heart of the Karcher shopping area north of I-84. I made a bee line for the place. It sits in a small strip mall that could be easy to overlook if you were not sure of where you were going. But I made it there with time to spare. Turns out the "and More" was a coffee shop with lots of little snacks and baked goods on one side and the shipping area on the other side. The staff was so nice and even though it was few extra bucks to mail the package I didn't mind because the convenience was worth it. I then remembered that I had another shipping issue with a large, flat 3 by 4-foot mounted quilt I needed to get to Michigan. I tried to ship it via UPS the day before but was quoted over $500! I knew it would be an expensive shipment because it was oversized, but I did not think it would be over $500, I expected $150 to $200. The ladies behind the counter started looking for an option for me and came up with one for $175. Right in the ballpark! It was even Fed Ex! Those ladies packed that big flat thing right up and got it out on its way to my Cousin in great time. While I am in Nampa handling my Mom's estate I will shipping more things, and all those things are getting shipped at the Mail Room... and More!

Amy met me at the door and was so nice and welcoming. She walked me through the process of downloading the app, which the customer can use to pay for using the machines. The cost is considerably more than using your typical coin operated laundromat, but Idaho Laundry is very conveniently located. I would come again.

Not only did the owner not say anything to me about it being closing time, but they said nothing to the young lady who just assumed she would be helped since the door was open. They were helping her also when I walked out. I was mailing one package postage prepaid and buying postage for the 2nd package. Despite it being after closing, she asked if I wanted a tracking receipt for the postage prepaid package as well, unsolicited. This kind of customer service is what I love about small businesses and entrepreneurs. I was delighted by their complete customer service and friendliness. I will be back whenever possible. I definitely recommend them!

Today was not one of my normal days so I googled closest FedEx near me and this joint pooped up. I have lived in this area for almost 10 years and never knew about this spot. We always just hit Winco, Home Depot and the food spots. I am really learning more about the store fronts in this center. Pulling up I almost missed it. It's a smaller store but I found me a nice front row parking spot and made my way in. There was a gal working behind the counter. She greeted me and asked what she could do for me. I told her about my packages and she got me squared away. I was also sending some important paperwork to the transplant hospital as well. I needed an envelope and postage. She guided me to the right envelope and got me taken care of. It was a smooth transaction from start to finish. While I was writing the address on the envelope, I couldn't help but be mesmerized by all the fun, local things they had in the store. Local soaps, chapsticks, kitchen towels. It was all so fun to look at. I loved all the fun soaps they had. I could stay there for a while just to smell all of them. I guess this joint has been around for 20 years, crazy. I would have never known to today. This joint is 8 minutes from my house. It's so convenient to be able to drop off my packages without having to go downtown or by the mall.
