This review is more about UPS in general than this particular store. I went in to send a package to Chile, which they said they could do. It contained a shirt, a sweat shirt, and a 8 x 10 photo in a cheap frame. It weighed about 4 pounds. The staff was helpful and weighed and measured the package. It wasn't boxed up so they offered to box it with extra bubble wrap, peanuts, and glass protector for $18, which seemed reasonable. When I asked how much the shipping was going to be, they quoted me $600 !!!!. I asked them to double check if that was correct, and they said that it was. I was in complete disbelief, took my stuff, and left. Later that afternoon I boxed the stuff myself and sent it through the post office with priority mail for around $50. As I said, the store itself is fine. UPS is very, very expensive. I sent another item from there around a month ago. I sold it on Ebay and the quote from Ebay was about $14. When I sent if from UPS, it was double at $28. Personally, I will never send anything UPS again. I recommend that you compare prices before you send anything with them. read more

Thanks to manager Lynne and her excellent staff for helping me today. I had to return a very large package; actually, it was a 50-inch flat-screen TV I was returning to Vizio. Everything was paid for by Vizio. It was the company's responsibility, after all, to replace a defective TV that was technically still under warranty. However, I, as a semi-petite senior citizen female, had to transport the package to UPS and then get it out of my compact vehicle. This was quite the challenge! UPS to the rescue! Lynne's part-time young male employee (sorry, I forgot his name) brought a dolly and after a great deal of effort (and some assistance from me) he got the huge package out of my car and into the store. What excellent service on a busy Friday! Vista, Oceanside and Carlsbad have plenty of UPS stores. I am not familiar with the others. I was not happy with the lack of customer service. I needed to return 2 T Shirts to Amazon and the staff were to busy to help me. I had to pull info up on my phone and after I had the info ready they ignored me. When one staff member finally got around to asking what I needed. I said I had the info on my phone ready to get a label printed. She replied you need to e-mail that to us. So what is their job if you need to do everything for them. This location needs to brush up on their customer service skills big time. I will not be back I will have UPS pick up from my home. I love this place. I've been shipping all my stuff from here for a few years now. Today I had something to ship and thought why do I always go out of my way to go here when there's another place close to home - so I thought it's time for a review. As I walk in, they see what I'm carrying and know exactly what I need and are getting things ready before I get to the counter. Came for a box to return items to amazon. Already had a label just needed a box. Friendly service, quick and convenient. Lady told me my only charge would be for the box. Then she rings me up and I pay. I notice on the receipt a $2.75 service charge. Apparently this is for them to tape the box. I had brought tape with me but since she didn't mention this charge prior to paying I didn't worry about it. Just an FYI to other who visit there about the 'servicing' charge. read more

Very disappointed with their service and heartbroken about losing family heirloom china. I understand the person who gave me bad information is no longer there, but that shouldn't excuse a company from honoring a claim or at the very least refunding the shipping charges. I bought special china packing materials to box up and ship my grandmother's china that made it from Germany to Brooklyn, NY during WWII and then from NY to California. I shipped it in two boxes to my cousin in New Jersey. When I got to the UPS store I asked the guy behind the counter if I should put my boxes into a larger boxes with foam peanuts to give them extra cushioning. He explained that they don't use foam peanuts, and rather than suggest putting two inches of bubble wrap around the perimeter as the manager did after the fact, he told me they should be okay as I packed them. He did put FRAGILE stickers all over the boxes. (This is apparently UPS code for Drop from Truck) Needless to say both boxes arrived damaged and most of the china was broken. I insured the boxes for $300 each and thus called the store to file a claim. Lynn was waiting for my call. Apparently the boxes had opened en route, and UPS took some items out of the boxes, resealed them and sent them on their way. They asked that my cousin save the packaging for inspection and filed the claim. The claim got denied due to inadequate packaging (which they never inspected at the destination, but remember from the opened boxes en route). The letter said, "Shipments must be so packed or wrapped as to meet UPS's published standards related thereto set forth in the Service Guide, or on ups.com, and as to pass tests set forth in the International Safe Transit Association Procedure 3A." The man at the counter never mentioned Procedure 3A when he took my boxes and my money. The folks who took stuff out of my boxes en route never offered to repack them to Procedure 3A standards. Now we are devastated that our grandmother's barely used china collection has been decimated and UPS is offering their apologies for basically not training their staff well enough. Five stars for the mailbox rental services at this UPS store! After experiencing mail theft a few times from my front porch, I decided to rent a secure mailbox. The owner and employees at this location are really nice and upbeat and the service is top notch! They send out delivery notices very quickly to let me know I have a package waiting and will even assist with carrying out heavy packages. They also offer a lot of different discounts to mailbox customers on printing and other services. I really enjoy the friendly vibe at this location and they also have a candy jar sitting out which is a nice bonus :) read more

This place was convient for me so my husband and I stopped by. I had read the reviews, noticing they were on the lower scale but most of them were old so I said the hell with it. Well they are still true. There wasn't a soul in the store and no one talked to us. I had to. I asked for a copy and he just stuck his hand out. The only reason my family members and I seek out UPS stores is for the notary service due to the nature of our work. Usually, they are all pretty good. I can't say the same for this one. My husband and I have been to this location several times and each time there is only one employee on duty. This in itself is not an issue. The problem is the employee states even though she is a notary, she cannot notarize anything until another employee shows up for their shift (a couple hours later). Both times we were the only customer. Very frustrating. I was able to drive to another UPS location just before closing and the sole employee on duty happily notarized our documents. read more

Jennifer was absolutely amazing on my journey of doing many things today. She greeted me with a smile and guided me through the process of notary. She also let me know at checkout how much each service I used, had cost. I appreciated that as a customer because service is key. Also, prior to using the store computer, the young male associate let me know of the cost to use it although there is a display of price at the computer. It is nice to have that acknowledgement because sometimes our minds can easily be found elsewhere on the days activities and not on noticing a price. I appreciate Jennifer's sweet welcoming and professional smile, her awesome customer service, and the communication she provided throughout my services of use today. Man this is one of those places that you never need until you REALLY need them. Unless you are running an internet store or something like that. So let's start with the good. The location is fantastic. Close to home and several other very handy places. The entire shopping plaza lends itself to taking care of several errands at once. it is easy to spot and parking is more than adequate. The lobby is neat and clean and offers all the typical scan, print, copy, passport photo type of amenities. They have most of your shipping needs on hand as well but with all things last minute and ultra convenient, you will pay a premium for those supplies here. The bad, its dimly lit and a little tight on space as most of the location is reserved for processing. Don't get me wrong, it's not impossibly small, it just lacks that open, well lit and airy feel of the FedEx/Kinko's up the street. And now the ugly and simply unacceptable...they have posted hours that are simply not adhered to. I have been there in the morning and they were 30 min late opening the doors and there were 3 people in the store having coffee and smiling as they prepped for the day. I have also been there in the evening and despite having arrived 23 minutes before their posted closing time, the place was already shut down and locked up. I don't personally care about the times they operate but if its posted and I plan a morning or afternoon around it, the times should be legitimate. Like I said in the opening, I don't usually need this place unless I really need it so its a tad more than a little annoying to be unable to handle business during posted hours because the employees don't feel like working. Finally, I think they have a rotation for the front counter that is LAW!! there could be a line 6 or 7 people deep in the front (which would be blocking the entrance of the small lobby) and despite seeing multiple people in the back not doing anything in particular. They simply kept telling the one clerk that he had another customer. In the end, the location is spoiled by poor management staff and lazy and unresponsive employees. I would not recommend this location to anyone and won't likely be returning. read more
