I explained to the tech what had gone on and that I had used another company to work on the microwave with no success. I told him that I used ChatGPT to diagnose the problem. Instead of listening to me, he interrupted me and told me that ChatGPT had made him a lot of money. He sort of listened to me about the refrigerator and was more than happy to tell me all of the dumb things that I did, which I really didn't need to be reminded about those things. His diagnosis on the microwave was exactly what ChatGPT diagnosed. He didn't know that, since he never took the time to listen to me. As he was explaining to me why my microwave needed to be replaced, because no parts were available (it is old). One important thing to note: ChatGPT gave me two places to get the exact parts that I would need. As he was explaining this to me, I was inspired with a way to repair the microwave with a piece of Gaffers tape. He told me that doing what I was doing could short out the microwave. However, my simple solution worked. He did diagnose the refrigerator correctly - the insulation in the door had expanded and I would need a whole new door. He showed me how it had expanded and the crack that resulted. I squeezed the plastic to make it go back together and problem solved. I did do one more dumb thing and said "I fixed two things that you didn't." I apologized twice and he ignored me, which I don't blame him, what I said was rude. However, what I said was true and he ignored my basic and obvious goal and that was to get my appliances to work. Had I followed his advice, I would have spent way more money than I would have needed.
