This place is great! They have awesome daily food specials as well as pizzas and an extensive menu with excellent value and really good food. The service is great with friendly bartenders. This is also a pool hall in the back but oddly you don't hear it while seated at the bar. I will be a return customer-especially with those drink specials! read more

Kicked our friend out for "closing his eyes too much after he worked 13 hours and had 2 drinks and when we tried to explain to the bouncer he told us "Shut the fuck up, he needs to go" will never come back as long as this is the staff they keep. read more

this place was horrible. pink hair cat ear bartender Told me I didn't look like the photo in my ID and asked for help from the bar manager who didn't know what he was doing either who then asked for 3 other forms of identification. after my credit card wasn't enough proof showed my school id still wasn't good enough. and it was all for there same of fun and games. never once asked me the address or my birthday or any of thoes things. definitely need to take a course to learn what a real ID looks like and not threaten to take them from someone who is of age awful experience will not be going back. read more

Absolutely excellent Philly cheesesteaks and burgers, worth the walk there. Establishment is clean, and the staff seem friendly enough. The drinks I order here are strong and well-iced, just how I like it. There are two glaring failures with a plate of food at this place; They'll put a chocolate chip cookie right underneath a hot sandwich in a to-go box, and the homemade kettle-cooked chips are without a doubt cooked in dirty oil (Dark color, metallic/bitter flavor, greasy.) Their method for chips in this restaurant are unfortunately way off the mark. Dump that oil now and again, guys. I'm still marking this as a 4/5. Why would I do that when I've been displeased with 2/3rds of my plate on multiple occasions? That Philly is the best in Oshkosh and could bring a grown man to his knees. Get the fries as a side instead, and prepare to have your genitals explode from the sheer force of that meaty, cheesy goodness. read more

Would not recommend. Staff is rude and slow to attend customers. Seems like a good place to get drugs though. I've been here twice. Once during the day during lunch, and once in the evening attempting to get a beer. First time was fine. Male bartender was attentive and helpful. Food was okay, and prices were okay, too. But the next time. Oh, boy. I sat at a booth, and then the bar, for about fifteen minutes while both of the female bartenders ignored me. One seemed to really enjoy playing bar dice, while the other just walked away when I made eye contact. The bar wasn't particularly crowded, as it was a slow weeknight. I expect bartenders to actually offer a customer a beverage when they sit at a bar. Call me crazy! I'm not going to chase someone down to order beer if it's a totally open bar. And I'm certainly not going to sit at a bar when the bartender doesn't want me there. Which is what happened. When the bartender, after about ten minutes at the bar without service, finally showed up, I said "hey can I get some beer?" She said: "no." She later claimed to have been joking. Sure, joke all you want. But my money leaving isn't a joke. This town has plenty of bars, and I'm happy to give my money to some of the others. read more

Bartenders try to take advantage of you at bar close. When you order drinks they ask for your card, they swipe it and give you the receipt to sign and tip. After you sign and tip they help other customers and "forget about you" you then ask for your drink(s) and they claim you are an "issue" this place will never receive any of my business moving forward as well as any of my friends business. They attempt to take advantage of you for their own profit. read more

Been here before and it's been good, but today we came for the Packer game and things are out of control. Food took 45 minutes. Bartender cursed at us and threatened to throw us out after we tried to joke with her to lighten the mood. Cook gave my friend a burger with two bites already taken out of it, then said the replacement would come after she cooked another 12 orders before it. You'd think they'd be better planned for a Packer game. read more

Went in for buck burgers but ended up getting the varsity, it was burned and tasted horrible. Maybe I should've ordered wings.

As far as their food goes, fries are great, but they overcook a lot of their other food.

I love this place! My boyfriend and I go on Sunday's when they have 25 cent wings! And they are delicious. It's a fun, bar like atmosphere with music and pool. They also have a ton of other specials on food and drinks throughout the week. It is very casual, and a fun, cheaper place to eat and drink. read more

This place could be great... the facility is great but is missing any feel of atmosphere (unless you would like to drink in "Walmart") The owner and staff are extremely rude to me and my group anytime we decided to give them another try. Service is horrible (bartenders with attitude) I had to check to see if they were one of those "rude" on purpose bars. I've heard several complaints about the food so I haven't even tried that. It's really ashame, like i said this place could be great. read more

This place is great! Awesome deals on food and drinks throughout the week. The Philly Cheesesteak is delicious. The Reuben is a close second. The pool tables are are the best around and there's always a place for my friends and I to play. Also enjoy the ping pong table and shuffleboard. There's a ton of dart boards as well. This is a great place to hang out any night of the week especially during happy hour. Plus the owner is the coolest guy you'll ever meet! read more

I was in Varsity Club on Saturday night to play some pool and was surprised to see hardly anyone in this bar. While shooting pool a few different groups of people came into the bar area and left fairly quickly. There was an older male gentleman sitting at the "slot" machines who harassed nearly everyone that came into the bar area. I overheard him tell numerous people that he was the bar owner and even saw him take away ping pong paddles from customers for no reason. After several confrontations with both males and females everyone who arrived at the bar would quickly leave. I later found out this individual was in fact not the owner, but a person who does handy work for the bar. The staff did nothing to prevent this individual from harassing everyone. For this reason, I will never be going back to Varsity Club. read more

This is an awesome place to have drinks or eat. Owner Jeremy West has done a wonderful job of bringing in customers of all ages. This place is a complete 360 from what it used to be. Jeremy has renovated inside and out. It's just a great place to hang out. I would feel absolutely comfortable going in and having a drink or eating a meal by myself. I went out to the Varsity club this past weekend and I was appalled by the service my group of friends endured from a few of the bouncers and an older man who I guess is their carpenter. After falsely claiming he was the owner, the carpenter, unprovoked, approached my friends and started a verbal altercation. Tensions and voices rose, and one of the bar tenders (I'm pretty sure his name is Vong L., the guy who wrote the other review on this page) rushed over and attacked my friend, pushing him up against a pool table and proclaiming he would "knock everyone out" if we tried to intervene in this violent harassment. The carpenter continued to antagonize a few of my friends (including three females) who had not been involved in the original incident, asking if "anybody else wanted some", and when we alerted the bouncers of the continued harrassment they did nothing to stop it, and actually seemed to find the entire event ammusing. As a ten year veteran of the food service industry, this was the sorriest excuse of service I have ever experienced in my life, and I am not surprised the bar was basically empty on a Saturday night. I am also not surprised that the only positive review is from Vong, who happens to be an employee. I would give the Varsity Club a 0 star review if this website let me. read more
