I've been coming here since my vegan friend showed it to me a little over a decade ago. I always get the same thing---the fresh spring rolls with peanut sauce. IMO, they have the best spring rolls! The ingredients are fresh, and they are rolled fairly large. The Vegan Joint opened my eyes to how peanut sauce should taste; prior to eating it here, I used to dislike peanut sauce. Now, I know how it should taste. Since I haven't really tried anything else, I can't say which other dishes are good, but I know my friend had a ton of them, so I suspect they are great too. The only difficulty can be finding parking. There is free parking in the neighborhood, but you might have to walk a ways. If you're lucky, one of the metered spots in front will be available. I highly recommend you try this place if you love fresh spring rolls with peanut sauce!

I would say the vegan joint is heavy on the Asian food. I wasn't expecting it, but my husband got pho and I got papaya salad. Both were very good. However, the papaya salad had some warning signs with the three peppers. I knew that meant spicy and I can handle spice, but let me tell you it was very spicy! Lol Our random tropical pancake with blueberries and banana was delicious fluffy buttery all the fruits. Restaurant is cute. Service was very friendly not very fast but not terrible. Menu has a lot of options. You really can't go wrong. I would like to come back and try a few more of their desserts and other entrées!!

What the social media special looked like
    Aja G.

I ordered their Valentine's Day special and received a dish that was totally different from what was pictured on their social media, despite asking for that exact dish. The pictured dish had bell peppers, basil, tofu and onion with noodles. My was tofu, broccoli (which I can't eat) and bean sprouts. When I called to inquire if I'd received the wrong dish, the woman said she misunderstood and rang up something different. She said she'd let her manager know and they'd call me the next day, which didn't happen. I commented on the photo of the special on their social and noted it looked different. They reached out to me and I explained what happened. They offered a simple apology and nothing more. I'm not expecting much but remaking the dish I requested would be good customer service in my opinion. Guess that was my first and last time visting Vegan Joint in Palms.

"chicken" spring rolls and tofu tacos

just love the cute little vibes here. Perfect for when you want a light meal that's healthy and packed with flavor. located in a very walkable area of palms, there's also a lot of parking all around the streets. I got the tofu tacos here and they were so bomb. Tofu was perfectly cooked and the sauces complemented it nicely. My friend got the chicken spring rolls and she really liked them. Decor and vibes here are so cute. Service was very friendly and attentive, they never let my glass of water go empty. We went on a New Year's hike so I was very thirsty ha ha ha. I've also tried the pumpkin curry here and that was really good and wholesome.

Amazing food and almost and endless assortment of dishes you can order from their menu. Dined in once for breakfast and take out another time for dinner. Both completely different! Let me start with the breakfast menu, we ordered the breakfast burrito, two different omelettes: one Italian sausage and create your own omelette and the pancake with chicken with tofu scramble on the side and they all blew me away, tastebuds and all! The breakfast items I use to love before I was vegan now I can enjoy again. The texture and taste of the fried chicken was phenomenal! I cry because I can't sample this again into the next time I'm in LA! For takeout night the second round we ordered chicken satay and dumplings for appetizers and Green Curry, Pad See ew, which were also super delicious and I love how everything here is Non-GMO and vegan and the versatility in making various American breakfast foods and Asian foods, different in the menu but the quality results in supreme flavors, texture and great quality food. Our server/owner was named Winter who was awesome to talk to and very accommodating and helpful in suggestions for our order and the place looked great how the interior was decorated. Great friendly service. There's nothing to hate about this place but everything you will love...and I love this place so much I want to fly back every time I get a chance just to eat here!

For my main, I got LAMB SAAG. It was my very first time trying this and I was not disappointed in the slightest! Incredible flavor, great portion size. The entrees do not come with rice so I also ordered a side of white rice that went very well with the dish. For the table, we ordered KEEM NAAN, CHEESE NAAN, and GARLIC NAAN - all of them tasted great with everyone's dishes as well (if you choose to not get rice, the naan is perfect with the entree). As a lovely sweet treat, we received plates of watermelon at the very end! The perfect palette cleanser and so refreshing In terms of parking, it was a little tricky but not impossible! If you served this to a non-vegan, they might have a hard time believing it was actually cauliflower. It was absolutely delicious, and the texture was phenomenal. We also ordered a side of fries, which unfortunately fell a little flat. They were undercooked and lacked seasoning, so they didn't leave much of an impression. For my entrée, I had the Pepperoni Pizza. Overall, I enjoyed it, but the biggest drawback was that it was very salty. If they toned that down a bit, it would have been a winner. My husband ordered the Shrimp Scampi. The vegan shrimp was impressive from a texture standpoint--it was tender and even had that familiar "snap" you get from real shrimp--but it wasn't quite for me. The pasta itself was a bit underwhelming and could have used more flavor. Overall, I'd absolutely give Julie Goes Green another shot, and I would 100% order the Buffalo Cauliflower again. One final bonus: parking was easy, with a lot available for pickup orders. Just keep in mind that seating inside is fairly limited, so this is a great option if you're planning to order to-go.

My friend and I made a reservation for outdoor dining for brunch. We arrive right around our reservation time to find nobody at the podium. After a few minutes, a woman comes up and asks, "For two?" before immediately turning around and walking the other way, to which point we stop her and say that we actually had a reservation which we gave her all the details for. She stopped for about half a second, grabbed menus, then turned around again and brought the menus to an indoor table, then just walked away without making eye contact. She did not even tell us to follow her nor say a single word to us once we were seated. No worries, right? Wrong. We perused the menus and waited for about ten minutes, with no staff members coming by to help us. We started looking around to try to flag someone down, but each staff member was either not looking in our direction and/or wearing a different outfit from the next staff member, with some outfits almost having a nightclub aesthetic than wait staff. Eventually, another individual comes by our table and, again, without greeting us or making any eye contact, aloofly says, "Just order off the QR code," which we didn't see because the menus were covering it. Now, my friend who I was with works in the mall, and I know the restaurant offers a discount for mall employees, so as the employee was walking away, I called out and asked if we would still get the discount if ordering off the QR code, and he said yes. Note that in all the times my friend and I have eaten here in the past, it was always traditional table service. Then, we go to place our order, and after adding everything to the basket, it tries to charge my credit card. At this point, almost 20 minutes had gone by since we arrived, with still no single greeting or water or silverware set or anything. I get up to speak to another waiter who was helping nearby tables, to which I am again told to just order off the QR code but was reassured that the mall discount would be applied once the tab was settled. So we oblige and place our order through the portal. Several minutes later, the same waiter who I had most recently spoken with had come to our table (mind you, this is the first time someone came to our table in the entire time we were seated) and said that the restaurant was out of some of the items on our menu. And it was at this point that we FINALLY got waters. At this point, we had to look through the menu again, but it was getting to the point where we were going to miss our movie, so we had to just abandon ship and eat at the mall food court. Upon leaving, the only acknowledgement we got was from the first woman who "brought" us to our table, which was a petty smile and wave. Allow me to make myself clear. I hold no animosity against any establishment for being short-staffed, for requiring QR code ordering, or for being out of ingredients. This stuff just happens. What I do have an issue with is the astounding lack of any grace or hospitality, without even a simple "Whenever you're ready go ahead and use the QR codes on the table" or even a welcome. It just felt as though every person was just trying to get by with doing the bare minimum, and every employee had attitude. Even the couple next to us, who had been seated before we arrived, never got acknowledged. It's honestly a shame, because many of the items here are great, and the offerings are unique, but if this is how Cafe Landwer chooses to operate and treat its customers, I won't be back.
