Not a vegan but I could very easily eat this everyday! Needless to say this was such a pleasant and satisfying dining experience for me. This place has been open for 15 years! That's 15 years I've been missing out. I ordered the vegetable pad thai. The vegetables were cooked to perfection! Hot, soft, yet crunchy and Fresh! Serving is quite generous. Had the orange chicken. Tasted heavenly! The sauce on this dish is finger licking good! Sweet, thin and saucy!! The batteted soy chicken is crispy, tender and as carnivore, I never knew soy chicken could taste so good! Had an order of steamed dumplings. My expectations were low, just cause I've had them at other places before and they were always ok. These were from another planet!! I could not put my fork down! The sauce was insanely delicious! Had a very refreshing glass of Thai iced tea. Let me tell you, this I took my time with cause I couldn't stop Eating!! If I had to describe it, I would say it was perfectly balanced. Not too strong and or sweet. I loved it! And to finish it off I ordered a vegan chocolate cake. Let me tell you, vegans have it good!! This was definitely the cherry on top! And I must have looked like someone who had not eaten in days, I was just devouring everything on my plate. Ryan if you see this. Thank you once again for the excellent and pleasant service. You truly made us feel welcomed and accommodated. Best believe we will be back. This time I'll bring the whole family. And I'm telling all my friend about this wonderful place! My compliments to the chef's! Cooking this good deserves much recognition and appreciation! Thank you! I do have one regret and that is, having waited so long to walk in. The place is clean, comfortable and warm. Parking is no issue. Just walk in! You will not regret it.

I'll preface this by saying I was in a sour mood before I even got there-- I braved the treacherous parking lot of Costco just to pick up some probiotics, only to find that the pharmacy is closed on Sundays. Was not aware that Costco pharmacies operate under a Chick-Fil-A style regime. I got to LA Vegan about twenty minutes before it opened at 11AM, so I walked around the block a few times to get my steps in. When I finally got in and ordered, the employee told me "it's going to take a while because we have to turn everything on". I wasn't going to order anything to drink, but given the projected long wait time, I added a cup of green tea to my order. Almost 30 minutes passed and I still hadn't received anything. Not even my cup of tea. I'm no restaurateur, but it's my personal opinion that if you open at 11AM (a time at which the day is already almost half over) you should be ready to prepare food at 11AM. At the very least, you should be able to throw a mug of water in the microwave and bring me my tea within 5 minutes. My order finally came out after half an hour, the Deluxe Breakfast with a cup of green tea. It wasn't cold, per se, but given the wait time I was surprised to see it wasn't piping hot. Problems aside, the food was pretty enjoyable. It was a classic American-style breakfast, fluffy pancakes, and a well salted tofu scramble with a crisp hash brown on top. I could have done without the bacon strips, but the single sausage had a nice flavor. It was good, but nothing outstanding. I will say, however, that'd I'd venture to guess that breakfast isn't the most popular item on their menu. In the end, I left pretty stuffed and satiated. The staff was apologetic of the long wait, but it doesn't erase the fact that I was on the verge of ripping my hair out. I'd probably go back though! Lots of things on the menu I wanted to try.

The food is so fresh, tasty, and reasonably priced. The service is top-notch, and the dining area is very nice. LA Vegan you have a new fan.

This is my go to place for vegan Thai. The "orange chicken" is so good and my fav item on the menu. Paired with Thai tea and fried rice, yum! Service was good, I was concerned before going after reading other reviews. They also offer vegan tacos and burgers but I have not ventured past the Thai menu. You can dine in or get it to go, either way the food is ready quick. Street parking is available and never been a problem.

This review is based strictly off of the Thai tea. It is the best Thai tea I've had in the area. My boyfriend and I went three days in a row because it is so good and addicting. 10/10

I dined in before and liked it but this time I ordered for delivery. I ordered the pad Thai with tofu, fresh rolls with tofu, vegetable soup, and a high protein salad with edamame. The delivery was fast. The pad Thai was good with light sauce but had some clumps of noodles. The fresh rolls with tofu were good but didn't like the sauce that came with it. It was supposed to be a peanut sauce but couldn't identify it. The vegetable soup was good and brimming with vegetables and the high protein salad was hearty and filling. I would definitely order or dine in again.

While I am not at all vegan, it can be a fantastic change of pace when trying a cuisine that is not at all my regular routine. Happily, Variable has tons of choices, and we loved what we got. I was drawn towards the 'N Seoul Bowl' (Korean spicy plant based pork, house marinated Kimchi, organic edamame, steamed organic spinach, carrot, steamed broccoli, onion , organic shiitake, topped with green onion and sesame seeds and side organic quinoa). So good, a bit spicy, and so many flavors on the plate it was impossible to not only love it, but I could not finish it, either. That goes from all their dishes. They are big, and in our experience, it came out piping hot soon after ordering it. My companion tried the 'Indian Tikka Masala' (homemade Indian curry, broccoli, cauliflower, zucchini, yellow squash, potatoes, cabbage, chickpea, micro green, Served with blend wild Jasmin rice and Indian Flat Bread). Tastes so fresh, hearty, with just enough of a kick to it. I look forward to trying some of their other dishes, too. The burger that the table near us ordered looked fantastic. I gotta think that everything here is pretty dang great.

They only have a hose A/C in the corner that didn't do much to cool the place down. The food though was amazing! As 2 vegetarians and 1 vegan, we had never seen such an extensive plant based option with not only vegan cheeses but meat substitutes with protein! No wonder they have been ranked #1 for multiple years. The starter bread came in a brown bag and was soft and delicious, especially with the house pesto. You could really taste the basil but it didnt feel too oily. We got the calamari because none of us have ever seen a vegan one on a menu! It was breaded and fried and had a squishy center made of pea protein that I guess simulates the real one? It came with a marinara dipping sauce. I could obly have a few because they were fried and I felt like they were a bit too salty Next the pastas came out - the Pistachio pesto and the fusili with sausage. Both were delicious. The pesto sauce was the same one we had with the bread but the pasta had Pistachio chunks in it as well and generous amounts of pesto. The sausage was chewy and the sauce must've had either the same seasoning or chunks of it blended in because you could taste the same flavor in that as well! We had hopes of trying dessert but these 3 dishes were a perfect size for our party and we had been starving ourselves for most of the day for this (probably due to all the protein included in a usually carb only meal). Small things I'd personally wish to change is that the onion is too strong in the macaroni salad. Wish it wasn't in there period. And the rice is a little on the dryer side and it sticks to the container- so when you scrape up the last bits of rice, you could be eating the paper from the container. I like that they use compostable containers though!! But yeah the rice is on the harder side especially as leftovers. But whatever, their main items are bomb and makes me not care about anything else. Service is quick! Note: it is not a sit down restaurant. You order (ahead) and park on the street and call them to let them know you're outside. They'll bring the food out. Reception isn't great outside fyi. I ended up getting so full that I took my second dish home! I absolutely loved the coconut drink, "I Am Chill." They were also happy to customize it with less ice, which I really appreciated. The "I Am Next Level" bowl was delicious, healthy, and very satisfying. My second dish, the "I Am Beaming" Pesto Alfredo Pasta, was a little too creamy for my taste, but it was still enjoyable. It was fairly noisy during lunch on Friday, and the service was decent but could have been a little more attentive. There were a few moments when I found myself wondering when the waiter would come back to my table. Overall, a great Dine LA value with delicious, healthy food and some creative drink options. I'd definitely come back to try more dishes!

The ambiance is always a cool, calm, and chill vibe. I tend to come around the time they open on the weekends, and it's especially quiet, and I enjoy eating out in the outdoor area. Smoothies are delicious and they offer so many customizable options. On this visit, I had the savory version of "I Am Hospitable." This waffle is cooked to perfection and it has the perfect amount of crispiness and fluffiness. The oyster mushroom is exceptionally well-cooked with a great crunch without it being too oily. Everything here is always seasoned appropriately. Customer service here goes above and beyond, and I believe (Candace?) saw us on our last visit. She was so warm and engaging, plus she gave some really great suggestions. I wish other restaurants had people like this. On every visit, no matter who seats us, we receive the same warm welcome and friendly service that makes us feel great the rest of the day

The cashier was super patient and helpful which I appreciate a ton! The location is on the corner of a lil strip of businesses so a few parking spots which makes a difference. Inside was a small setup but again super cute Here's what we got: 1. The Smokey (10/10) - it's banging! I really wanted to try it specifically because the onion-jalapeño jam got me stuck... and it did not disappoint! 2. The brisket breakfast burrito (9/10) - I asked them to cut both in half since I was gonna share with someone in the streets haha I love burritos, I love vegan breakfast burritos so nom nom nom! 3. Speculoos brownie (10/10) - it's super El Niño so the brownie was hot and ready by the time I landed so it was gooey and delish af I will definitely be back when I can push out to HP to grab refrigerated meets and cheezes! Best of the best…read more Maciel's is a Highland Park gem located on of course York Blvd - this Plant-Based Butcher Shop has been voted one of the best places to eat in Los Angeles and rightfully so. Whether you're vegan (like me), vegetarian or flex (like a lot of the world) this is a spot you should definitely try at least once or at least thrice. Impressive sides, soups, salads, sandwiches (both hot and cold), "meats" and "cheeses"... Not to mention desserts and breakfast items. Love the French Toast!! But that Reuben is a 10/10 and my guilty pleasure. And the meats are plant-based, loaded with flavor and true culinary flare. Maciel herself as well as this eatery combines passions for cuisine, health, nutrition and care all in one in this often thriving vegan-friendly area in Greater Los Angeles. Catch them also at big gathering such as the annual Vegan Street Fair in North Hollywood, Coachella Music and Arts Festival, and Open daily from 8:30 am to 8:30 pm, closed on Mondays. Some parking in their lot, but street recommend if the lot is full on the corner of Aldama St/York Blvd. Gender-neutral restrooms. And open to all.
