I wanted to try the deluxe but my spice level isn't that high unfortunately so I figured this one wouldn't be that bad since it said so. I won't lie my partner and I found it a tad too spicy for us but for seasoned spice eaters it's prob perfect. I think I had different expectations of what the dish should taste like but mine was overwhelmingly seaweed flavor which I'm not the biggest fan of. I'd like to give mazemen another try but flavor wise it was a bit disappointing. The chicken karaage was delightfully light and crunchy and I really liked the dressing on top and the kale underneath. Small shop walking distance of all the restaurants in Sawtelle, it's quaint and makes authentic cuisine, just not my preference!

I haven't been back in quite a while since moving to the Long Beach area about six years ago, so I was actually pretty excited to have it again today. Unfortunately, it was a total disappointment. The noodles were too soft, the meat was mediocre, and all I could really taste was a mouthful of soybean paste flavor. The subtle bonito flavor that I remember and loved was completely gone. Instead, everything just tasted overwhelmingly salty. I've heard from friends recently that Tsujita may have changed their recipe, and after today, I have to agree. It's not the same. Something has definitely changed, and unfortunately, it's changed into something I barely recognize from the Tsujita I used to love.

The service was terrible. The server brought out my husband's dinner alone. We waited and he never appears and we had to get him and ask where is my food. Cooking he said. After at least 5 more minutes my buns came. We wanted to eat together. I told my husband to start or we would be there all day. There were at least 2 servers and not one checked on us at anytime. We finally had to get up and ask for the bill. It was so disappointing. I mean the food and the service was bad and most of the seating feels like a bus bench. We won't be back. Ever.
