Great food fix! Friendly service. We were greeted as soon as walked in. It's a small restaurant, cute decor and very casual. We ordered the cheeseburger, crispy chicken sandwich, mac & cheese, strawberry mint lemonade, and chocolate velvet cake. Lol! Hungry, hungry!!! Everything was delicious, flavourful, fresh, soft sandwich buns, filling and satisfying. Highly recommended!

Great, tasty, and very healthy food. The entire menu is vegan. I enjoyed the Mediterranean chickpea bowl. You can also create your own bowl.

April 29, 2026 | Culver City | Hey, Sunshine Kitchen is quite the vibrant, as well as Plant-Based Café that keeps me coming back for more! Plus, the name is super cute! Star of the Show | Vegan Hot Spicy Chicken Sandwich | On my first visit, along with my best friend, we ordered & shared a number of items: taco, limited edition plant based spicy chicken bowl w/rice, sweet potato fries, and a cookie! The Spicy Crispy Chicken Sandwich stands above the rest, took full control the spotlight & still makes my mouth water, simply thinking of the flavors bursting from that crispy sandwich on that brioche bun! Yum!! Oops, I Did It Again | My best friend and I returned to only get Chicken Sandwiches... and a cookie for me! One night, I ordered myself a Chicken Sandwich, sweet potato fries, & a cookie via a delivery service for dinner! I most recently grabbed a Chicken Sandwich & a cookie to go, after having just had a late lunch with a friend, as part of her birthday celebration! That Chicken Sandwich is something special... the flavor of it all & seasoning keeps me coming back for more!! Vegan Chocolate Chip Cookie | Yum! At first, I was hesitant, because I don't really like sprinkles as much! Let me let you know that the Vegan sprinkles on top of the yummy cookie are absolutely delicious! Sweet Potato Fries | Tasty & delicious alongside the Chicken Sandwich! I love, sweet potato fries! Seating & Parking | Inside & Outside Patio Seating! I've only experienced the outside patio seating with vibrant, yellow umbrella cover tables! Super cute! Parking is free and shared with other shops & restaurants! Sharing Is Caring | While attending an event/luncheon in Beverly Hills, I sat next to this really cool girl who lives in Culver City! In the midst of our fun & constant conversation and letting her know that I was Vegetarian/Pescatarian, she recommended Hey, Sunshine Kitchen! Thanks again! You are so right, I loved it! Also, while chatting with my Vegan Private Chef friend, told him about the sandwich, & he let me know that he enjoyed it the minute he tried it! Overall | Well, Hey Sunshine, you will definitely see me again! As you can see, the Chicken Sandwich had me a hello! Haha! I highly recommend! Let's go!

Super blown away. I'm not vegan and this was actually my first time trying a vegan restaurant. Everything tasted amazing and hit all the right flavor notes. It wasn't just "good for vegan food," it was just really good food. The staff and the owner were super friendly and welcoming which made the whole experience even better. It's also the perfect place to grab something after a workout at the gym nearby. The food is healthy, filling, and tastes great while hitting all the nutritional goals. I tried the backyard BBQ tofu, for only a little over $15! This place honestly changed my perspective on vegan food and I'd pick it over the usual fast casual spots. I'll definitely be coming back a few more times before moving. This place is the gold standard for what locally owned restaurants should be. Highly recommend checking it out, you won't regret it!

The food here is so good!! We were greeted kindly by the staff and they seemed happy to have us there. Comfortable seating inside and outside. I absolutely loved the chickpea bowl. It was packed with flavor and each item has its own unique taste that went well together. A fairly big menu that I would love to continue trying. Very bright environment as well :)

Sososo good! I order takeout here at least once a week because I'm always craving Hey, Sunshine! My go-to is their build your own bowl option + mac 'n cheese. The workers are CFA level friendly & my order is accurate 99% of the time. Prices are a bit high, but it's worth it considering they use quality, yummy ingredients. Will be back again next week :)

Really yummy vegan comfort food. The service is friendly and quick, you stand and order at the counter, seat yourself, and then they drop the food off. Prices are pretty standard. The inside is clean and cute. It's nice that there's a free parking lot, so none of the usual LA struggle. The mac and cheese was the best, most convincing cheese I've ever had. Portions are generous. Loved it overall.

4.5 stars! This is an all vegan restaurant. I came by around 2pm on Saturday and it was still plenty busy! Not only was the restaurant busy, but so was the parking lot. A decently large parking lot but shared with many other restaurants and a gym. I was circling in loops in an endless line for awhile. As for the restaurant, it is pretty small on the inside and the line crowds out the door really quickly. You can order at the counter or there's one self kiosk on the side. Order, get a number, and sit at a table and they'll bring the food out to you. Self-bus the dishes afterward. My partner and I got the limited edition hot sesame chicken with crispy rice bowl, crispy chicken sandwich and for sides: Mac and cheese and chickpea nuggets. My favorites might've been the sides. Those had the best flavor of all. The bowl was good and felt healthy but was just a bit underwhelmed by flavor. All their dressings were on the watery and more runny side. I suppose that means it's healthier? The chicken sandwich was solid. Had all the fixings to hit every flavor note.

    Custom Bowl
    David Y.

I liked this place; it serves good food, but it's a bit overrated on Yelp, in my opinion. I made a custom bowl, with half rice and half salad, plant-based chicken, and a bunch of toppings, including a bunch of roasted veggies and croutons. I also got a cookie with sprinkles on it. The bowl felt nourishing and it was tasty, but I wasn't blown away. It's a neighborhood lunch spot to me, and a solid one, but not a place to go out of your way for. The cookie was just okay. Ultimately, I'm not in a rush to come back but I could see it happening.

Finally tried this place out and it is worth all the hype!!! My friends and I are not vegan, but we all LOVED our food! Everything was fresh, flavorful and delicious. The portions are a nice size as well. I also recommend getting the spiced hibiscus tea! The space is bright and cute with seating both inside and out, mostly 2-top tables. The staff were very friendly including the owner. They made sure we had what we needed and answered any questions we had. The restaurant is located in a shopping center which had plenty of available parking in the lot. Best casual vegan place I've ever been to! Looking forward to going back!

While working just adjacent to Hey Sunshine I popped in to try it out. And what a delicious decision! I was greeted by a friendly woman (I'll assume manager or owner who was training "Zach"), and she was so warm and welcoming! She inquired if I had been before and I said "no", so she began to provide information about the amazing menu. I asked about the window special "hot sesame chicken bowl" in comparison to the Crispy Chicken Sandwich and she shared the bowl was spicy but filling and so I went with it! While I waited, she offered water (available on the counter) and I listened to how she was training Zach. She was so passionate and caring describing how to gently place bowls in the to go bags and why it makes a difference. Why some get utensils and some don't, but she cared and it showed. Her passionate care for presentation showed so much pride in the product and that alone hyped me up to already start planning my lunch for tomorrow (yes, I'll be coming back for sure!). The restaurant was clean and bright and takes pride in their presentation and food and it shows, look at those YELP! Awards proudly displayed on their counter!!! And they are definitely well deserved! My Hot Sesame Chicken Bowl was served on greens, came with a delicious citrus vinaigrette dressing and the freshest vegetables! hey Sunshine, everything about you is Excellent!

WE LOVE PLANT BASED OPTIONS So far, I've had the jackfruit taco, falafel bowl and the chickpea sandwich. 10/10 all around. Jackfruit taco def has a kick. I'm so happy hey, sunshine kitchen joined Culver City.

    Backyard BBQ Tofu Bowl
    Keilab A.

I stumbled upon this spot on Yelp, looking for a bite to eat in Culver City. I'm so happy I decided to come here, because this spot lives up to the 5 star reviews. It's located in a plaza with atrocious parking, but once you manage to snag a spot after a couple loops around, you are greeted by friendly faces at Hey, Sunshine Kitchen. There are so many delicious sounding options, but I opted for the Backyard BBQ Tofu bowl which comes with sunshine rice, BBQ tofu, sweet potato, coleslaw, sautéed cauliflower, grilled corn, diced tomato, shoestring onions, fresh cilantro, massaged kale, pickled red onions, lime, and buttermilk ranch. They give a generous portion and it's a hefty bowl. You can taste the quality and freshness of each ingredient, and this bowl was incredible. The flavors and textures of everything was perfect. Ugh, I wish they had more locations because Culver is a trek for me. They make healthy food taste like the best thing on Earth and make the experience enjoyable. I will be returning for sure and in the meantime, will be trying to recreate this at home.

Hey, Sunshine Kitchen Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Hey, Sunshine Kitchen

Do they list nutritional information anywhere?

Are you still conducting vegan cooking classes?

Thank you for the question! We have our 2 year anniversary coming up so we will skip our August class and hold a party on August 10th, but we will start classes up back in September! We’d love to have you join us.

    Where is best parking?

There is an open parking lot in the area. Plenty of free parking.

Do they use Nutritional yeast in their dishes? Are their chickpea burgers soy free?

Hi Chloe! We are the owners and happy to answer this question.…

Are there cashews or pistachios in the "contains nuts" dishes? I'm highly allergic unfortunately. Thanks!

I don't think so but you should check with Jenny, the owner

Are there any soy free options?

Yes it varies depending on menu item

Are there allium-free options (no onion, no garlic)?

I like the Avocado Crunch Bowl over salad greens with a lime wedge, which is onion- and garlic-free; you can also get the "build a bowl" option to customize an onion- and garlic-free dish!

Whenever I'm craving salad or some crunch, I order that with the crispy chicken, non-spicy, with avocado and sprouts added and veganaise on the side. While I am not at all vegan, it can be a fantastic change of pace when trying a cuisine that is not at all my regular routine. Happily, Variable has tons of choices, and we loved what we got. I was drawn towards the 'N Seoul Bowl' (Korean spicy plant based pork, house marinated Kimchi, organic edamame, steamed organic spinach, carrot, steamed broccoli, onion , organic shiitake, topped with green onion and sesame seeds and side organic quinoa). So good, a bit spicy, and so many flavors on the plate it was impossible to not only love it, but I could not finish it, either. That goes from all their dishes. They are big, and in our experience, it came out piping hot soon after ordering it. My companion tried the 'Indian Tikka Masala' (homemade Indian curry, broccoli, cauliflower, zucchini, yellow squash, potatoes, cabbage, chickpea, micro green, Served with blend wild Jasmin rice and Indian Flat Bread). If you served this to a non-vegan, they might have a hard time believing it was actually cauliflower. It was absolutely delicious, and the texture was phenomenal. We also ordered a side of fries, which unfortunately fell a little flat. They were undercooked and lacked seasoning, so they didn't leave much of an impression. For my entrée, I had the Pepperoni Pizza. Overall, I enjoyed it, but the biggest drawback was that it was very salty. If they toned that down a bit, it would have been a winner. My husband ordered the Shrimp Scampi. The vegan shrimp was impressive from a texture standpoint--it was tender and even had that familiar "snap" you get from real shrimp--but it wasn't quite for me. The pasta itself was a bit underwhelming and could have used more flavor. Overall, I'd absolutely give Julie Goes Green another shot, and I would 100% order the Buffalo Cauliflower again. One final bonus: parking was easy, with a lot available for pickup orders. Just keep in mind that seating inside is fairly limited, so this is a great option if you're planning to order to-go.

Walked in on a Sunday around 11:30am, restaurant maybe a quarter full. Seated in a corner with incomplete silverware, no menus for several minutes, no water for even longer. Waited another 10-15 minutes with menus in hand before anyone came to take our order. The food wait aside, what really stood out was the lack of basic check-ins. No "sorry for the wait," no acknowledgment, and when I finally asked for the bill, the manager came over with the terminal, took payment, and walked off without much of a follow-up except to hand over boxes. Just a little warmth goes a long way! Food, when it arrived: * Landwer's Pancakes: the highlight. Three pancakes tall with seasonal fruit, whipped cream, Nutella, and maple syrup. Delicious and a generous portion. * Croissant Sandwich: disappointing. Tough, chewy croissant with thinner filling than the bread size warranted. Hard to get a clean bite. The Century City location is convenient, and parking on weekend mornings is easy before the crowds roll in.

I've been to Cafe Landwer a few times over the years, and it was usually decent. After today,…read morethough, I don't have any interest in returning. My friend and I made a reservation for outdoor dining for brunch. We arrive right around our reservation time to find nobody at the podium. After a few minutes, a woman comes up and asks, "For two?" before immediately turning around and walking the other way, to which point we stop her and say that we actually had a reservation which we gave her all the details for. She stopped for about half a second, grabbed menus, then turned around again and brought the menus to an indoor table, then just walked away without making eye contact. She did not even tell us to follow her nor say a single word to us once we were seated. No worries, right? Wrong. We perused the menus and waited for about ten minutes, with no staff members coming by to help us. We started looking around to try to flag someone down, but each staff member was either not looking in our direction and/or wearing a different outfit from the next staff member, with some outfits almost having a nightclub aesthetic than wait staff. Eventually, another individual comes by our table and, again, without greeting us or making any eye contact, aloofly says, "Just order off the QR code," which we didn't see because the menus were covering it. Now, my friend who I was with works in the mall, and I know the restaurant offers a discount for mall employees, so as the employee was walking away, I called out and asked if we would still get the discount if ordering off the QR code, and he said yes. Note that in all the times my friend and I have eaten here in the past, it was always traditional table service. Then, we go to place our order, and after adding everything to the basket, it tries to charge my credit card. At this point, almost 20 minutes had gone by since we arrived, with still no single greeting or water or silverware set or anything. I get up to speak to another waiter who was helping nearby tables, to which I am again told to just order off the QR code but was reassured that the mall discount would be applied once the tab was settled. So we oblige and place our order through the portal. Several minutes later, the same waiter who I had most recently spoken with had come to our table (mind you, this is the first time someone came to our table in the entire time we were seated) and said that the restaurant was out of some of the items on our menu. And it was at this point that we FINALLY got waters. At this point, we had to look through the menu again, but it was getting to the point where we were going to miss our movie, so we had to just abandon ship and eat at the mall food court. Upon leaving, the only acknowledgement we got was from the first woman who "brought" us to our table, which was a petty smile and wave. Allow me to make myself clear. I hold no animosity against any establishment for being short-staffed, for requiring QR code ordering, or for being out of ingredients. This stuff just happens. What I do have an issue with is the astounding lack of any grace or hospitality, without even a simple "Whenever you're ready go ahead and use the QR codes on the table" or even a welcome. It just felt as though every person was just trying to get by with doing the bare minimum, and every employee had attitude. Even the couple next to us, who had been seated before we arrived, never got acknowledged. It's honestly a shame, because many of the items here are great, and the offerings are unique, but if this is how Cafe Landwer chooses to operate and treat its customers, I won't be back.
