I came here on a Tuesday around 7pm! We had a party of 8 people and made a reservation in advance - we were seated immediately upon arrival in the back area and we ended up having the entire back to ourselves! We had people in our group with nut and gluten allergies and we had a vegan and pescatarian. They were able to accommodate EVERY dietary restriction and everything remained DELICIOUS. For starters, we ordered the MOMO dumplings: one veggie and one mutton. Both flavors were incredibly flavorful and I loved the orange dipping sauce it came with - it paired perfectly with it! For my main, I got LAMB SAAG. It was my very first time trying this and I was not disappointed in the slightest! Incredible flavor, great portion size. The entrees do not come with rice so I also ordered a side of white rice that went very well with the dish. For the table, we ordered KEEM NAAN, CHEESE NAAN, and GARLIC NAAN - all of them tasted great with everyone's dishes as well (if you choose to not get rice, the naan is perfect with the entree). As a lovely sweet treat, we received plates of watermelon at the very end! The perfect palette cleanser and so refreshing In terms of parking, it was a little tricky but not impossible! Definitely get there early to find parking, or try your luck searching for street parking (the street parking is free!). The total for our meal of 8 people was: ~$366, not including tip and every person got a drink (cocktails, teas, and lassis). Came here on a Saturday night and it was relatively empty but it's also a place where parking can be hard to come by. There a lot but it's easy to miss and only had like 3 spots so I would street park instead. Service was quick and attentive. We met the owner and she came to greet us later in the meal. Great restaurant to try. My friends and I wanted to try a new cuisine and stumbled upon Tara's Himalayan cuisine based off of the great yelp reviews. When we walked in, we were greeted by the kind host who let us pick the table we wished to be sat at. The restaurant was clean and cozy and I wouldn't be surprised if it was family owned. The menu had a good number of items to pick from and we were excited to try them all. We settled on Yaki chili and the chicken masala with garlic naan. It was my first time having Yaki but I was pleasantly surprised. The meat was flavorful and while the portions could have been bigger, the dish was overall delicious. The chicken Marsala was different from other restaurants due to the thickness of the sauce. It mixed well with the garlic naan and was great. There were numerous parking spots on the street. Tara's Himalayan is hands down one of my favorite restaurants in LA! My go to order is the paneer masala with a side of basmati rice and naan bread (they have a lot of options from potato to spinach to classic garlic and you can't go wrong with either choice). Their samosas and lamb korma are also really tasty. I tried the salmon tandoori dish (pictured) and it did not disappoint. The flavors were a great blend of savory and tangy and the charred texture and taste also further added to how delicious it was. There's never a wait when I go and the service is always excellent (everyone is nice and does a great job of checking in on the table). I also love the decor and ambiance both indoors and outdoors, it's perfect for a casual lunch or dinner or an intimate dinner date. 10/10 would definitely recommend! read more

I tried the food here once at a catered event (momos, samosas) and once to dine in (roti, paratha, paneer butter masala). Everything was great. Lots of bold flavors and the breads are fresh, made to order. There's outdoor seating with heaters and lots of indoor seating. Inside is very relaxing, kind of dark, soft music playing. It's a vibe. For more than a decade this has been the standard to which all other Indian food gets compared to for my wife and myself. Even tho we moved away, we will still make plans to travel 1 hr+ specifically to eat here every couple if months, it's that good. We've tried most of the menu at this point and even tho we have our favorites, we've never had a bad dish here. If you like Indian food, this is aist try spot. Ambiance is fairly intimate and the service is attentive but not disruptive. Parking sucks in the area and there's only a very small parking lot in the rear (like parking for 4 vehicles), but we'll usually park at a shared commercial parking lot around the corner and sneak over for an hr. If we were still local we'd probably prefer to order ahead and take it home just to avoid the lack of parking. read more

Since the Santa Monica location closed, this has been our go to spot for GREAT Indian/Asian/Himalayan food. So many good dishes but our favs are: Yak Chili - moist, tender yak with veggies in a lovely sauce (get a rice on the side and mix it in). Not really a traditional chili but still unique. Chow Chow Chicken - love this with the skinny noodles, onion, etc. Eggplant Main - soft and tender eggplant with another great sauce. Garlic Tofu - I'm a big meat eater but something about this dish make me order it every time. Again, the sauce is the boss here with onions, green peppers, etc. Fish Masala - Not always on menu but they'll make it for you. Swai fish in a coconut/curry broth that is rich and creamy. Goes over basmati rice. Garlic Naan (ordered without the cilantro) rocks as well. Goes with every dish. Tara always on hand to greet us with her welcoming smile. I wished I lived a little closer so I could go to Tara's more often because they have some of the best Himalayan food I've had in Los Angeles. I used to go with my friends and roommates in college because it was easy enough to get here by public transit but now I live in the valley and it's much much harder to get to. Definitely recommend their momos, and you can't go wrong with any filling choice, whether it be meat or vegetable. The rice dishes, the naan dishes, and their meat dishes are tasty and well portioned. I always have to get a mango lassi when I get here, but I do also recommend the strawberry lassi as well. The restaurant is nice for a small night out, but they also have a larger area to a company bigger parties in the back. Although we didn't sit in the patio seating, they also have heated lamps for warmth if you want to sit outside. The staff are really nice and friendly! They always checked up on us to make sure we had enough water and answered any questions we might've had. Overall, very good service. We were so very excited to try this place. My fiance and I love indian/nepali/himalayan food. We got back from Chitwan/Bharatpur a few weeks ago and it had been too long since we ate such food. We ordered the Aloo Gobi, Chicken Tandoori, and Jogi Curry. Everything was so incredibly bland. The chicken was very tender and the sauce was tasty, but it didnnot have the signature char you expect from anything cooked in a tandoori. The portions were also TINY. I miss this place. I used to come here all the time when I lived on the west side years ago. Leaving a review now in support of this place. The food here is insanely good. The cheese naan was my favorite along with the fish tikka masala. Super fragrant masala with super tender chunks of fish. My mouth waters at the memory. We ordered Chana masala, veggie momos, garlic tofu, chicken biryani, garlic naan, plain naan, and mango lassis. Absolutely flavorful with heavenly Himalayan spices. Service is always fantastic, too. Feels like I'm visiting friends. When we were done 2 more parties sat, but it was still kinda sad to see such an authentic LA establishment not as full as it should be.
