I have been to the Venetian a few times to attend a yearly Scholarship Luncheon. It is a truly beautiful place! From the time you enter, you notice the elegance - marble floors and columns, along with beautiful flower arrangements. The luncheon usually takes place in the Grand Ballroom, and boy is it grand! The room has large chandeliers that continue to add to the elegance. There is a staircase in the back which truly leads to a grand entrance. The food here is very delicious. When I attended this year we started with a mixed salad with a tangy vinaigrette dressing, we then moved on to penne with vodka sauce, followed by chicken with mashed potatoes. We finished the meal with a delicious chocolate cake. The food was well prepared and very good. The staff is very friendly and attentive and is willing to assist whenever possible. Really pretty spot for any occasion I must say. We were pleasantly surprised, parking is a bit odd. It was a gorgeous day out so walking across to the busy street in our luxurious Indian clothes was not a problem. There are gorgeous chandeliers in the hall and waterfalls outside the hall still in the building. I had a blast. I didn't know what to expect from "Garfield, NJ," however this was really sweet. Everything about this place from the venue to the staff to the food deserved an A+! The room for the cocktail hour was small with low ceilings and a homier feel to it. The food was spectacular! Everything from sushi to pasta to carving stations to kids food of sliders. I was impressed right off the bat. We then moved to the main room for the wedding that we were attending. The inside sure is a lot of marble but it's really beautiful. The chandeliers were stunning crystals that gave the room a beautiful classic feel. The staff was friendly and attentive. They even brought a round of shots over to our table for us. Everything we needed was well taken care of. The food was again spectacular. They really went over the top in presentation. The chateau briand that I had was done just the way I asked for it. It was tender and flavorful and the sauce over the top was so good I'd have asked for the recipe if it was appropriate! Attended a very large 1000 person affair there where the food was very abundant - an understatement - but it was also exceptional in quality and in preparation. The steaks, prime ribs, leg of lamb and lamb chops were top steak house quality and many of the other choices from sushi to pasta to cold shellfish could not have been fresher or better. This place is beautiful! Had my college graduation here and everything was perfect. It's beautifully lit and nicely decorated for whichever event you have here. The only thing I didn't like was that the dinner seemed rushed and like the staff was eager to move on from the dinner to the desserts to end. They constantly came by the tables to check up and refill waters which was good, but they would continuously ask if you were done with your food while you were in mid chew! Stepping into this place reminds me of going into a hotel in Las Vegas. The grand entrance is enormous with a huge glass chandelier at the end. We came for a wedding and the setting we beautiful. The passed hors d'oeuvres were great as was the buffet lunch with carving station, sushi station, and seafood station. However, the piece de resistance was the ballroom, yes that's right, ballroom of dessert. They kept it hidden behind a wall of mirrors but at the end of the meal, the panels were removed to reveal every possible dessert you could wish for. All the children were in sensory overload and their heads looked like they would explode from happiness or the large sugar buzz. There was chewy candy, tart candy, sour candy, sweet candy, hard candy, soft candy, caramel candy, chocolate candy, gummy candy, mint candy, spicy candy and other kinds of candy that I could not try. There was ice cream, wedding cake, carrot cake, sponge cake, fruit sushi, burger and fries cheesecake, bananas foster, waffles, cannolis, and most importantly, dessert drinks. If my wife could have only had dessert, she would have been happy. We have had the New Jersey Boxing Hall of Fame Induction and Awards ceremonies at the Venetian for many years and it just keeps getting better and better. I had my wedding on 2.23.18 and am still dreaming of this day! The Venetian is for the bride and groom that want their guests to talk about their reception for years to come. The cocktail hour was insane! Literally everything I could have imagined and more. Go for the seafood extranvaganza- it really put our cocktail hour over the top and our guests gushed over the amount of delicious food and seafood. Don't be afraid to ask for things for them to throw in when you're negotiating a price- they are pretty quick to accommodate you. We had our wedding in the smaller of the two rooms and I am so glad we did, as it looked perfect for a party of 200 (we had the option of the big room but it would have looked empty- don't get that room unless you have 400 confirmed guests to fill it with. Our guests also were thrilled that they never had to ask for a drink during dinner. The waiters/waitresses always replenished drinks and our event ran smoothly. My only two gripes about the evening were that they were doing renovations on the downstairs bathrooms that my room had for the evening, so my guests had to go upstairs to use the bathroom. Now this may not be a big deal to most, but when it is not known to me until the night of my wedding and you have elderly guests, it's not the greatest thing. Even though there was an elevator, most guests used the stairs. When my guests arrived and had to use the bathroom, they were directed upstairs and kept popping into my bridal suite (since it is directly next door to the elevators). Again, not the end of the world but annoying...yes. Also, I had about 6 guests that I paid for dinners and were "no shows". When I asked my matre' d to pack up the dinners that I PAID FOR, he replied that they "dont do that". Excuse me? I paid for those dinners. I had to ask for a supervisor and wound up getting all 6 dinners packed. I've never heard of a catering hall not packing up paid for dinners, so Venetian, you should really change that policy. All in all, I highly recommend The Venetian for your next event. I think people have a misconception that this place will be out of their budget but if you are willing to compromise your wedding date and are flexible, this place can work for just about any budget. Just another tacky North Jersey wedding factory. I was surprised by the poor quality of food and flippant attitude of many of the staff at this venue. For the price, you can get much better. The cocktail hour only had two bartenders and the passed appetizers were... unappetizing. The decor is pretty, but honestly a little "Jersey" -- the faux chateau look is a little over the top, and cheesy. The champagne was flat and sweet -- like it had been sitting open for quite some time. (And they do not have prosecco) While there was a lot of food, not much of it was very good. It all tasted like it had been sitting under a heating lamp for quite some time, and was absolutely uninspired. (Soggy pizza? Mushy pasta? Under cooked lobster rissotto? yuck!) I went here for a wedding today and all I can say is WOW! I was amazed from beginning to end. Pulling into The Venetian, valet parking was pretty quick, averaging about 3-5 minutes waiting in line to getting your valet ticket when there were a dozen or so cars in front of me. Walking into the catering hall, you are greeted by an expansive marble floor and pillars, with a ceiling that is about 20 feet high. On the left hand side, there is a water fountain with spiral stairs that go upstairs. I'm assuming the upstairs are additional catering rooms or rooms for the wedding party. Just past that, is the cocktail hour party room, which served the 250 guests, which I found just slightly cramped and could have used more tables to sit and eat at. The food was amazing here, ranging from fresh raw seafood (oysters, clams) and sushi, hot sake machine, tasty cold pastas, expansive variety of cold cuts, tender and tasty meats (filet mignon, veal, and more), and tons of more food, I could go on and on. My favorites that I always found myself going back to was their fresh raw seafood, that two men were shucking on the spot and placing it on the ice. Other favorites were the steamed littleneck clams with cilantro, fried calamari, clams oreganata, filet mignon, and lamb. There was a small full bar area and another bar area situated outside in a small and narrow stone courtyard with a water fountain. Across from the cocktail room was the wedding reception room which easily fit 250 guests. The marble dance floor was humungous, almost running the whole length of the room. At the far end was a full bar area to order drinks. The food for dinner was just as delicious and pleasantly presented. The first dish, a salad, was presented in a fried Asiago Cheese bowl. The second dish, a sorbet, was presented in a glass flower which was very original from the usual bowl-like presentation. I also found the entrees were cooked perfectly, the salmon was cooked perfectly, and not dry like many catering halls make the mistake of doing. The Chateaubriand was tender and tasty. For desserts, the catering hall has a dessert extravaganza called The Venetian. They opened up a temporary wall that doubled the size of the room. First they did a pretty eye-pleasing fire show with alcohol on pans and then opened up the floor for guests to get desserts. Desserts ranged from cotton candy, to chocolate and white chocolate fondue machines, jellow shots, creme brulee, a good humor ice cream cart, and tons more of choices. I was very pleased with all their food and would say it has been comparably one of the best catering halls I have been to so far. In the main hallway, there are wooden doors at the end, which accessed another catering hall room. Unfortunately I was not able to go back there to comment. The bathrooms were all marble, with 5-6 urinals and about 5-6 private stalls with wooden doors. The paper towels were the thick one's you would find at hotels. Overall, I found the decor of the catering hall very beautiful, service was good, and the food was absolutely delicious. read more

All of our guests called today expressing how wonderful the staff was, how delicious the food was and how they were totally WOWED by the cocktail and Viennese hour. My bridal attendant Michelle was a doll! She took care of everything, I couldn't be happier. We had our wedding at the Westmount which was phenomonal, and this was even a venue we checked out as well. The cocktail hour was amazing as well as the viennese. But the reason for 3 stars is the attitude of the staff. I walked in and I asked where I can find the wedding and she rudely with attitude shot back Which one. I was bewildered and told her I didn't know there were two. And the cocktaill staff were very unttentive and seemed Very bored. They seemed to be younger so maybe it explains their lack of enthusiasm. Maybe they should spend a few bucks and hire responsible staff with a good work ethic instead of kids who want to make a buck or two, just an idea. I asked which dish one was and she said "read the sign." Again, I didnt know there were signs but perhaps with kindness explain there are signs for each dish, instead of "read the sign." I also asked for a specific cannoli and pointed and he purposely gave me a different one. Gee, thanks. Venetian, you're on point with food. Now school your employees. This is hospitality. I won't recommend anyone to this venue despite the lavish spread --which still left me with a bad taste in my mouth from my experience -- and I certainly will not hold any upcoming events here not recommend. In fact, instead of raving about Venetian, I will tell them what happened. I Won't allow my guests to have a bad experience. Also, there was no one attending to the womens' room; I was looking for one of those baskets with items in it. If you have your event here you have to get the Vienesse hour, Flambe show as well as the over the top Cocktail Hour. The service here is TOP NOTCH!!! The staff went above and beyond the call of duty and catered to our every need. I will never forget that special day and it is all because of The Venetian that made my day a truly amazing experience. I've been here twice for weddings and each one was more beautiful than the other. This place is magnificent! The rooms are large and very spacious, the staff were very attentive and paid very close attention to detail...and the FOOD, it's amazing!!! Most of the time when you go to weddings and such; you'll get your normal run of the mill choices or steak, chicken, or fish...well you get that here as well...but in so much more of a gourmet way it's sort of hard to put into words. I got so many compliments from friends & family who attended my wedding telling me it was the best wedding they've ever been to & that is such a great compliment.
