We planned a fun evening to celebrate my dad's 60th birthday and decided to do "something…read moredifferent." We thought a dinner and show would be fun. Two stars is being generous. Let's start with the dinner. Definitely not the best food. When you arrive they had some pita chips and hummus and carrots and ranch dressing. Best part of the meal. They had water and tea on the tables and butter (but fun fact never brought any bread and said they "ran out before dinner"). Next came a salad, hard to mess up. You had two options, chicken or fish with rice pilaf and asparagus. Both the fish and chicken we very, very dry. We were supposed to get two dessert options and instead they just brought out a questionable cheesecake and said that was the only option. Thank God there was a bar that you could big drinks at so we could drink while we commiserated over a pitiful yet expensive dinner. Now for the show... yikes. Just yikes. There were some people who really enjoyed themselves (I think) but everyone at our table (including people not in our party and from out of town) thought it was laughable. The acting was meh. I think they tried to make it fun but it was really all over the place and no one had any idea what was going on most of the time. Again, thank God there was a bar. I don't think we will be suggesting anyone to try this in the future unless ALOT changes.

Starting positive, the staff were very friendly, and had great energy…read more The food was awful. Bordering on inedible. This could have been looked past with relative ease, if the show had been good. The show was not good. The "show" was completely unbelievable, there was not an attempt at suspension of disbelief. I believe they may have been going for comedy, which they had some success at. I laughed. Once in a while. But the issue is, it's called the dinner detective, and the "detective" part consisted of a series of "we found this NOTE and this DOCUMENT on the body inexplicably, so now scan your QR code to see it" and that QR code was the only place to get any clues. The theatre portion provided hardly any clues. You basically could have done this whole experience in fifteen minutes without looking away from the website on your phone if they just gave you all the "clues" (documents) off the rip. Also it was freezing in there. Overall, I would not recommend. It pains me to say this because I do like the actors/staff. They seemed genuine and full of energy. It just wasn't a good "detective" experience. Cool idea, lame execution.

A group of us went recently to this little event. I went in with zero expectations, which makes…read morethings easier to enjoy. The plot was a bit confusing, but I feel the actors did a great job. Yes, they want you to laugh and have a good time. That's the point! And yes, if you need a hard drink, you'll have to go to the hotel bar to get one. The food, well it needs serious work. But again, I did not come for the food. I came to have fun with my friends and enjoy a unique experience. And that is exactly what I got. I would recommend this show. I am even considering going back to see if I can play a bit part. Very interactive and engaging! For entertaining purposes five stars! My only warning is be careful who you sit next to as they be the killer!

It was hard to find much to like about The Dinner Detective experience. The actors and servers were…read moreall very nice and lovely people, but my goodness, the whole production was long and boring and the entire narrative of the murder mystery story was disjointed and made no sense -- and that was true even if you could hear what was being said, which was very difficult. The actors should have mics!! And the food wasn't much better. The tortilla chips that were on the table for an appetizer were stale, and the entrees were mediocre, which all would have been fine if the performance we were there to see was fun. We were a group of 8 and so spent quite a bit of money. It ended up not being worth the money, so we left after the 2nd act.

Food it served family style and it's a total cost per person. We had a vegetarian in our group so we were allowed to order items ala carte and the were several vegetarian options which was nice Food was excellent and our server Ana was spot on perfect. The place is on the smaller side some would highly recommended reservations From where I was seated I could see the bar and the bartender looked very interactive and everyone at the bar were having a lot of fun Congratulations to Volpe's we will be back!

We were excited to try Volpe's for the first time, but the evening ended with sticker shock. We…read morewere charged an extra $2 for "Rocks" on every drink that was served over ice. Charging customers extra simply for ice is something I've never encountered before, and it wasn't disclosed when ordering. Small surprise fees like this leave a poor impression and make guests question the final bill. Transparency goes a long way. UPDATE: After posting this review, Volpe's Hospitality Manager contacted me and stated that the restaurant does not charge for ice on mixed drinks and that the charges on our bill were an error by our server. Unfortunately, that explanation does not match what we were told at the restaurant. When I noticed the separate $2 "Rocks" charges and specifically questioned our server about them, she explained that while she could remove them, they were generally charged on liquor drinks served over ice. This wasn't an assumption on my part -- it was the explanation I was given when I asked about the charges. The bill also appeared consistent with that explanation. Both of my Bombay Sapphire drinks served over ice had separate $2 "Rocks" charges, while my Espresso Martini, which was not served over ice, did not. Both margaritas also had separate $2 modifiers. I appreciate management reaching out, but I'm troubled by the explanation that this was simply an isolated billing error because it directly conflicts with what we were told when we questioned the bill that evening. At minimum, there appears to be a significant disconnect between management's stated policy and what was being communicated and charged to customers. I'm updating my review to include this exchange so others can see the full context and make their own judgment.

They assisted Bev and I to the area for photos. We had our picture taken with one of the performers there. They showed us to our seats. Ron went to the buffet for me and put a little taste of everything on my plate Then he picked up a drink of juice and water for me. Just what I asked for. The show was magnificent. Each island was represented with a dance. Members of the audience were picked to go on stage and perform. Everyone had so much fun. The lighting was great everyone happy. There was a lot of laughter around us. Everyone joined in. The evening of 2 hours went by so fast. Great entertainment. Locals or guests of Myrtle Beach ... come see the show. Before they seat you they take a picture of your party which you can purchase at the end of the show. I will start with the buffet they offered a pineapple chicken dish thats was a spicy but not where you needed to drink milk . It was really delicious. I also had the white rice which they seasoned and I enjoyed that too. They also offered a Tilapia Dish and pulled pork dish. My husband had that and he enjoyed it too. There was also curly fries and a salad offering too. The desserts where ok - they were individual cakes slices a few varieties that they offered up in pretty round holders, they were definitely store bought. They were good but not exceptional. The Buffet is all you can eat. They offer Iced Tea and Water with buffet. All other drinks you have to pay for. The Show itself was Amazing. Watching how they interacted with each other was really enjoyable. You could feel the camaraderie among them. The Dancers were Amazing and Graceful. Wish I could move like that. I definitely would recommend if your on Vacation or Live here its a experience you shouldn't miss. I have posted some pictures for you to view.
