So where I work is letting Food Trucks show up at our lunch again now that the weather is getting warmer and today was the Vet Chef that was scheduled. I recommend using the BFT app. to place your order ahead of time to cut down on your waiting which is what I did and still had a little wait but compared to the 30 or so people waiting to order it wasn't bad. Now I just had a street taco which looks good but only had one tortilla instead of the usual two you get at most trucks and the carne asada was barely warm but had a nice flavor though. Salad tasted like the taco seasoning you buy in the packets at the grocery store. Carne assada on it looked almost like ground beef. The California burrito was over half stuffed with potatoes. Ugh. Way over price for what we got. This was at the Cairn Brewery in Kenmore. It was 5pm and they were out of the Cubano. I'll go back to my tried and true Ichiban Teryaki next time. read more

Love this food truck. Their fries are crispy and they don't skimp! Huge portions so you'll leave full. I always get the carne asada fries or the Cali burrito. Definitely try to eat the carne asada fries in one sitting or it will get soggy from all the toppings. read more

I have a crazy, soft spot deep in my heart for good burritos. It reminds me of college - I went to school in San Diego and burritos were everywhere. In Seattle, there aren't many places that scratch my burrito itch. The Vet Chef is one of them. They have their own thing going on, but they do it right - the tortilla, meat, seasonings, potatoes, crema - so simple, so good. I don't think it's fair to compare this to San Diego burritos. It's just different. In SD, the burritos were usually insanely greasy and heavy - a california burrito might have meat, potatoes, sour cream, guacamole, pico de gallo or a crazy rich carniceria-style salsa. Anyway, the California Burrito was universally acclaimed by the two other coworkers I brought here to try it out in Bellevue. So, it's not just me and my burrito-loving-ness. If you're into REALLY HOT stuff, the orange-colored salsa/sauce stuff was killer. The price was in line with what I spend on lunch in Bellevue any day - and in line with most other food trucks. Cannot say enough about this truck. The owner is always a bright, friendly, welcoming presence. The Menu, although small is filled with REALLY good food. I end up searching for their location at least once a month and will drive a good half hour each way just to get it. Got the California burrito, its steak and cheese and french fries w/ sour cream in a burrito. So I would maybe suggest renaming it Breakfast or Brunch burrito or, like their old sign used to say Cheeseburger Burrito. With California burrito (again i knew what i was ordering) you'd want guac and salsa or something like that in there, but this burrito was all "brown/yellow" things. NOW, having said that, it was very salty and cheesy and filling for $12 dollars. I'm just critiquing the naming of it, having lived in California for a decade, the name was weird. Very surprised this truck only has 1 review. As a Californian, I HAD to get the California burrito. I'm used to having french fries in it so when it just said "potatoes" I was a bit concerned. I'm not a fan of big chunks of potato "filler" but this was not the case at all. This burrito was perfect. So tasty, and just filling enough to be satisfied and not feel over-stuffed. And they have habenero salsa that was very spicy to go with it. I hope this truck does very well and if I ever see them again, I'll make sure to kill my California burrito craving. This food truck was at the Sunday Fremont festival but have seen it at other events. I tried the carnitas and carne asada tacos a la carte. I do my tocos pretty plain but they were nice and let me pick the cheese I wanted. The meat was flavorful and lean. Good soft corn tortillas. They were at our local winery today and gave them a try. The food was so good! We ordered two California burritos (carne asada and the cheeseburger). He used skirt steak, not hamburger and I believe the thousand island dressing was homemade. It was sooooo good. Quality ingredients and an knack to make simple food delicious. Give this guy a try. After months of trying to finalize a contract we decided to walk away. We only had a few months to find a new caterer. And that is when we found The Vet Chef. They were easy to communicate with. They worked with us to develop an efficient plan so guests could be served as quickly as possible while also following the venues guidelines. They were timely, professional, and efficient! I really want to give these guys a higher review, but after checking them out for the first time after seeing lots of hype about them, I was let down. Overall it's not a bad place to grab a bite to eat, but the quality and the price of the food are woefully out of sync. I had the "famous California burrito". For $14, you get what is essentially a Chipotle burrito, except with about half of the meat and stuffed mostly with these sort of low-grade French fries and basically nothing else. I generally prefer to help small business but this just wasn't priced right for what you get. Come on guys, this isn't a skilled dish; it's something that even the most novice person could throw together in the kitchen. I was expecting a really flavorful, densely packed burrito with superbly seasoned carne asada and gourmet-style potatoes, and got something I'd throw together myself with random ingredients when I get hungry on game day. This is not a $14 burrito, it's maybe a $7-8 burrito. At least the guys who run the truck seem cool. I'll be back if they lower their prices or find a way to make their burrito match the price tag. read more

Well hello tasty tacos! Work ordered this awesome truck and I'm grateful for the chance to give it a whirl! The Cheese Crips is a MUST. The "North of the Border" tacos have some darn delicious carnitas topped with a on the sweeter side BBQ sauce. Ask for the hot sauce, it's got a mean kick that perks up the tacos! If you're feeling really naughty, you won't regret the Carne Asada "Nacho" fries. If I seem the Vet Chef around again I'll be stopping by for a cheese crisp! read more

One of the best--if not the best breakfast burritos--ever. We are So Cal natives well versed in Mexican food and this surpassed all our expectations. The burrito was well proportioned, but we could have easily ordered and savored several more just for gluttony. This is the real deal and even elevates tried and true dishes to new culinary deliciousness. We got to try The Vet Chef at the Fremont Sunday Market today and it was so good! We each ordered the Nacho Fries both special order. One with beans and one with pork. They didn't have any problem with us special ordering which was really nice and both of our orders were very good! The pork is moist and salty and the cheese,sauces, and sour cream were really great and perfectly proportioned! I usually get sauces on the side for fear of too much sauce but this was perfect. One of the things that also made this experience so good was when we ordered we ordered whole orders of macho fries at $12 each but the chef asked if it was just us eating and when we said yes, he told us to get the half orders at half the cost because a whole order would be way too much food for one person. That was so nice of him. He cost himself money but he saved us from wasting ours and having to throw a bunch of food away, which I hate. That was a super solid move! So good. Came across the truck tonight at the Marymoor Velodrome. The bike races were fun and all, but I'd come back just for another Cheeseburger Burrito! It's a ton of food - only ate about 3/4 of it and I was stuffed - with a little less willpower I wouldn't have stopped. Also, they were very nice and patient (with my parents who asked a million questions - the concept was a bit much for them to grasp) and I loved that they did a free kid's quesadilla for my son. Nacho Fries, paid $12 for french fries sprinkled with cheese, a tablespoon of of salsa and some green mayo they called avocado. It did taste good but but definition, i think the cheese has to be covering & melted to be a form nachos. I can't speak to how food was this time because I was not given the opportunity to have their food when I arrived in front at their food truck at a local brewery at 7:10 pm. It was advertised on the food truck's site & the brewery that they would be serving until 7:30. It is extremely disappointing & bad customer service to be told at 7:10 pm that "if I served you I would not be able shut down in time & would be here later." That's unfortunate to them because I was planning on purchasing several items. On a previous experience I would say that the food was below par as well. read more

These guys came to my work today. Food was incredible and they were REALLY fast. I hate steak street tacos. The pickled cabbage was perfect and the meat on the tacos very tender. There was a side of rice and beans with it. Normally sides like that are kind of generic, but I was pleasantly surprised that the rice had cilantro and corn, and the beans were well seasoned and not too heavy. Would definitely get food from The Vet Chef again if they were at work or if I ever saw them anywhere else! read more
