They do produce champions however the methods I witnessed were horrible. Screaming at a crying 5 year old that she's "no good! She doesn't belong there!" Is NOT the way to build confidence. Taunting an ridiculing a crying teenager is NOT how to foster trust or self esteem. The overuse injuries are out of control! These are 100% preventable injuries! The whole culture of abuse and exclusion ("she's not one of us") is counter productive. It is definitely possible to build champions without being cruel.

You have to have a membership to participate in the programs or the open gym and track areas. Membership fees for Henrietta residents $10 a year for adults 18-59, $5 a year for ages 5-17. Membership is free for Seniors, veterans and children 0-4. Non residents are $30 a year for adults and $15 a year for youth, seniors and veterans. Free for kids 0-4. Once you are a member you get a key tag for easy scanning. With so many different programs to do here such as gymnastics, pickle ball, soccer, volleyball, basketball and music classes... your best bet is to check out their website for a listing of activities. Some programs require additional fees. My niece has a blast with the preschool open gym. Only $40 for so much fun and activities. There are a lot of free activities here too, playing basketball on one of the courts is always popular. My favorite activity here is using the upstairs running/walking track. The track overlooks the basketball courts and gymnastics area. Nine times around the track equals a mile. You can also book one of the rec center rooms for your own events, see website for pricing. A nice alternative to other options in the area.

My daughter…read morewent there for tumbling and flying classes and summer camp and because she enjoyed the experience so much, she wanted to be on one of the cheer teams. To be clear, my daughter was 14 when she attended these classes--she was not a little kid wowed with camp activities. And she came with only a back handspring. She's competitive and likes the way the coaches push for results. Despite being "old" to start the sport, she was able to advance her skills through levels 2, 3, and 4. She cheered for two years and both years her teams won bids to The Summit in Orlando. This year she's cheering level 5. Competitive cheer is not a walk in the park. It is an intense sport that requires dedication and discipline. The coaches there are all about that. If you're looking for someone to deliver roses and sunshine to someone who isn't pushing him or herself to advance, this isn't for you. If you want someone to help your child advance his or her skills and your child is motivated to do so, then you should check it out.

It is VERY good for younger kids. I have a lot in my class but that's ok, everyone has to start somewhere! While I will switch to another gym in the future, Northern Hemisphere is awesome for people, especially older kids improve on basic skills. However, I have seen coach Paul yell at several kid. There was a girl who was a red head, and lost her balance on a mat after landing, and was struggling to get up, when he yelled at her " Hey, red headed kid! Get off the mat!." I could not believe this. My experience has been good, but I would not recommend.
