I was asked why I was canceling, told them there really wasn't a specific reason, and was repeatedly pressed for one anyway. When I finally said "just put whatever you want," the employee claimed my account was closed -- but instead only sent me an email with instructions on how to cancel myself, including one option telling me to go back into the location to cancel in person. As I was leaving, he muttered "fat fuck" under his breath, and when I turned around and asked him to repeat it, he refused. Thankfully, I called corporate support in California and they were excellent. They immediately helped close both my account and my wife's account over the phone and documented the complaint about the employee. Also worth noting for anyone in New York: gyms are required to provide a way to cancel over the phone, so you do NOT have to go into the location to cancel your membership. Stay vigilant, my friends, and be warned about the experience at LA Fitness Perinton. Huge credit to the corporate phone support team for handling it professionally.

They don't pick up the phone. The mailbox eventually says it hasn't been set up. ...I eventually had to send an email to corporate, look around in my spam folder for a response days later, and go through infuriating obstacles and hoops to talk to a person. For a second time, I am attempting to quit while two billing cycles have gone by. I must remind myself the employee at the end of management's stick are not the problem. Gimme luck. Since it is a small local place class sizes tend to be small and the gym has plenty of open spots to workout. All of the staff is amazing and every class I have been to is great. They offer tabata, spin classes, burn workouts, yoga and every few months they add in new classes they offer. The instructors are very professional and always know what they are doing and offer modifications for those who need it.

This place is so welcoming, encouraging and result driven. They truly care about each person they work with and the detail and attention that goes into young athletes is amazing to see. We watched our daughter become stronger and more self confident because of this place and the staff. We moved out of state recently and the one big thing our daughter "wished she could take with her" was Next Level. After we moved my husband contacted Joe Aratari asking him for advice about gyms here in NC. He actually took the time to do research about gyms here that were most similar to Next Level. This place goes above and beyond and I am so grateful my daughter had the privilege of training there. We will miss it for sure! The best things about the gym, though, are the owners and the atmosphere. I got to know Colin, and it's clear he cares for his customers. He's happy to answer questions and get you started and charges reasonable rates for personal training to help you customize a routine. I only briefly met his wife, but it was clear from observing her with clients that she shares her husband's passion for fitness and helping and encouraging others to meet their goals. They maintain a supportive, non- competitive atmosphere where you can progress at your own rate. I went in the mornings around 0830--a time when the gyms back home are usually fairly crowded. Since it's open 24 hours, people can space out their times and go when it's convenient for them, not just when their free time matches gym hours. While there were always people there, it never felt overcrowded; I only had to wait for the power cage once for maybe 10 minutes to do squats, which was fine, since there was plenty else to keep my leg day occupied until I could hop in. They also accept many different insurance plans. All in all, it's a fantastic gym. If you're out this way, I highly recommend checking it out.
