The atmosphere was upscale without feeling stuffy, and the service and timing throughout the meal were stellar. We started with the fire grilled artichokes, which were smoky, tender and served with a delicious dipping sauce. Everyone also had either a Caesar or house salad, and both were fresh and very good. For dinner, we ordered the mushroom meat loaf special, the 16 ounce New York strip, steak and fries, and the barbecue baby back ribs. Every dish was impressive. The mushroom meat loaf with mushroom gravy was awesome, especially with the roasted Brussels sprouts and their Not Your Ordinary Mac and Cheese. It was rich, flavorful and easily one of the highlights of the meal. The ribs were tender and flavorful, and the steaks looked and tasted great. The only issue was that my wife's steak came out quite a bit more undercooked than she ordered. Outside of that, everything was excellent, and the employees handled the entire evening professionally. Great food, outstanding service, cool ambience and a staff that clearly takes pride in the restaurant. We would absolutely come back.

To my surprise the parking lot is packed and there's nowhere to park. No signs or anything indicating you can park around the back as I found out later so I ended up parking in the lot next door. They only have a few chicken items on the menu. One chicken sandwich and one roasted chicken dinner. I got the chicken sandwich which is the Hyde park. This is the same exact sandwich I've gotten every time I've ever been here which is why I really haven't come back because there's not a lot of selection for me. The other reason is they got rid of the croissants on the menu LOL. The service was fast and friendly and there was about a medium sized crowd inside despite the parking lot being full. They have kind of a dark semi romantic atmosphere I guess they're going for. The chicken sandwich was nice and tender. I'm not a fan of the shoe string fries because they remind me of Steak and Shake and at this price point I think they should have some good fries here. They actually had a few craft beers on tap but I thought the cocktail prices were a little extreme at 15 plus. My girl got the roasted chicken with mashed potatoes and the potatoes were ice cold so they lose a star for that. Other than that I have no complaints except that the pricing for lunch. $20 for a chicken sandwich is a bit much to me.

The waiter (Josh, a five-star waiter if ever there was one) really knows how to take care of his customers. He really knows the menu, can explain the dishes along with their components and what makes them unique and paces each course perfectly. He even asked if we were BOTH done before any dishes were removed from the table. Nothing looks worse than one person still eating while the rest of the table has no plates in front of them. We started with the roasted carrot salad. The carrots were perfectly roasted and chilled with and amazing tahini "paste" and radicchio, perfectly dressed with a lemon vinaigrette. OUTSTANDING!!! Seriously, this could have been my entire meal! The tahini paste is great, and I made it once while making a tahini dressing for roasted Brussels sprouts. Tahini naturally gets thick (paste like) when liquid is added. To make the paste, just stop adding liquid to it and stop mixing until it gets smooth again. Seriously, delicious. We both ordered the chicken schnitzel for our entrees. It comes with a really nice side salad consisting of mixed greens, dressed again with a very mild vinaigrette. My only quibble (and it's a really small one) is I would have liked the schnitzel to be a bit thinner. That said, it was perfectly cooked, not at all dry and the thickness is up to the creator of the dish. I don't think there's a "standard" for this (ha, ha - get it!). Great breading and very tasty. The dessert... Again, had to go with the sticky toffee pudding! If this is on the menu, there's no way I'm not going to order it. GOD, it's just a perfect ending to a great meal, well, that along with a pot of French Press coffee. All in all, the meal came to $108.00 excluding the tip. Expensive, but WORTH EVERY PENNY! I spent that much a few weeks ago (maybe more) on a really awful meal/experience at a different place. You'll have to read my old reviews to figure that one out! Anyway, this place treats their employees like they actually appreciate them. They took them on a cruise! Of all the restaurants I used to work at, the best thing I ever received was a shift meal or maybe a cold beer because I was still at the place cooking apps at 1:00 in the morning and the manager wanted to go home but felt bad because I couldn't leave. Thanks for the glass of Miller Lite draft, Mr. Chi-Chi's manager guy! Everyone in the place, from the servers to the hostesses, to the bus folks and the floor manager had smiles and a sense of graciousness and appreciation to each and every customer. Try to find that at any other restaurant in Toledo. The food is top notch, made with very unique recipes and techniques you're not going to find anywhere else. The dining room and restrooms (at least the men's) are clean. I never had to ask for a refill on my iced tea or water. New silverware was brought before each course was served. The old plates were removed from the table after the staff asked if it was OK to do so. Proper training in procedure and etiquette is obvious. Again, just a great meal in every way - 10 out of 10! Can't wait to go back.

After ordering a Spinach and Feta Omelette, I asked for the WiFi password and was told they don't have WiFi available for customers. Ok, so much for my work plans. Ugh. My omelette arrived fairly quickly and I also ate it quickly because I had work to do. The omelette was overall delicious. I will say, however, that the ingredients were not evenly distributed within the omelette. For instance, the tomatoes and onions were on one side, the spinach and feta weren't evenly mixed together and there were parts of the omelette that had no filling at all. The home fries were good, but I had to seek out ketchup from another table (rather than wait for my server to check on me). The coffee has never been the best but the main entree generally makes up for it. The value was decent and I'd recommend for a casual meal in a clean setting.

It's usually the wait staff... They always get the eggs just right and I've never been served a broken yolk (are you listening other breakfast places?). Over-easy eggs don't have broken yolks. Their crispy hashbrowns are just that, crispy! They're not gray or half cooked potatoes. The toast is made of high quality rye bread (Schwebel's?) with plenty of butter (and it's always perfectly toasted). THE HAM!!! Oh my god, the ham! This isn't some awful ham roll, no no! It's a slice from an actual ham! Real HAM! I was told it's Dearborn ham and I'd bet that it is. If you're not familiar, Dearborn makes great stuff. So, my issues... Not sure, but the coffee seems like it changed. It's weaker now and lacks the flavor from the coffee I remember from the past. They also stopped garnishing the plates with a slice of orange. I LOVED that slice of orange. Finally, the wait staff. They have some great waitresses but every once in a while, I get one that really doesn't know how it works. Because the server can really screw up a meal, I've avoided going back for months at a time. One time the waitress brought everything except the toast. I started eating the ham and potatoes. By the time she brought the toast, the eggs were cold and I couldn't eat them. She still charged my though. Didn't go back for a year, I swear. It's really important to always bring the complete meal. If the toast chef was asleep at the wheel and the entire breakfast becomes ice cold, have the line re-fire the order. It's not the customer's fault. Anyway, it's a nice, family place. Things usually go well, but there are those times... Oh, the place gets crazy busy on weekend mornings, especially with the after church crowd, so go early or plan on a wait.

First impressions of the dining room... So, it's a fairly small room without carpet. No tablecloths or individual table lamps (this doesn't bother me, but some may find this type of dining without such refinements unacceptable). I believe in keeping costs down. Take the savings and use them for buying better ingredients. Oh, a plate of bread with an absolutely delicious compound butter was served when the water was served (a little amuse-bouche). If you see your orders are an hour behind, please stop taking to go orders and stop sitting people and let your poor kitchen staff catch up. I understand you want to get as many orders as you can, but it's so sad to see you stress out your kitchen staff back there because they are swamped with orders. Even if you took 20 or 30 minutes to stop the flow of things so your team can catch up will make a huge difference. You don't wanna ruin half of your customers experience those nights with only missing 4 or 5 customer calls. I really hope the manager sees this and can improve! We would love to come back , but very scared too! lol You promised a 20-30min pick up time and it took over 70mins to get our takeout of 2 side salads, 1 soup, and 1 burger. Although I like the natural light I don't like being blinded or overheating. Also, the tater tots were delicious but extremely crunchy. Just a heads up to anyone who might be thinking about getting them.
