What a cool place to stop at! We were in the area and one of the antique shop owners pointed us to the Village Parlor, and I'm so glad we went. It's obviously an old soda fountain, which adds to the coolness of the venue! Burgers were great (three of us loved them), and my bestie said the grilled cheese was good too! Stopped today for ice cream while in the area and had a wonderful experience! Indoor seating available or to-go options at the counter. Staff was helpful in explaining the options including scooped ice cream, shakes, sundaes and floats. The waffle cones are made fresh onsite and were delicious!! I enjoyed the cookie dough and seasonal pumpkin ice cream in a waffle bowl. Restaurant was clean, relaxed and family friendly. A great lunch location with friends. We each tried various foods & were all satisfied. Ham & swiss on pretzel bun with the attached side of fries was my choice along with a sweet tea. We beat the Saturday lunch rush which happened after 12:30. Our waitress was kind and food service was swift until the place got busy. The service, in spite of it being a busy lunch hour, was very good, and the staff were nice. The problem was the food... I ordered the Chicken Salad Sandwich on rye, asked for no potato chips and said I'd rather have the French Fries than the chips until she asked if I would prefer the "substitute" and offered cottage cheese... which I said yes to and found out later there was an addition charge for this "substitute". Wasn't really a "substitute" then. When my lunch came it wasn't on actual rye bread, but on pumpernickel (which is a type of rye - dark, dense), but I think it should have been called what it was. I don't care for pumpernickel and would have opted for the croissant instead. The bread had either been toasted and gone cold, or was very stale... I really couldn't tell. There wasn't more than one tablespoon of chicken salad on the skimpy $10 sandwich, and the chicken salad wasn't all that good either. My plate had a huge pile of potato chips on it - which I had asked not to have, and the cottage cheese. The cottage cheese was very plain and a bit warm. Then I had a waffle cone Mint Chip Ice Cream that was even worse than the lunch. The ice cream had crystallized and was so grainy it was uneatable - the result of freezing & refreezing and improper storage for ice cream. It should not have been served at all. Ice cream for Baby K first, a scoop with whipped cream and sprinkles. She liked it. I had a phosphate; haven't seen that on a menu in awhile. Raspberry: pretty puckery, pretty good. Baby K got mac and cheese with applesauce, and liked all of that, plus the pickles from my plate. I got the "Village Special": slivered ham, house-made pimento cheese, on sourdough. Essentially a ham and cheese sandwich, a decent one, but nothing special. Kinda gloopy since the melted cheese oozed out, and the ham slid off. I should have gotten my other choice, the bacon pimento burger on rye. Oh, well. I upgraded the side of chips to onion rings, and they were the best part of the meal: perfectly cooked, all small so Baby K could handle them; bite-size for me. Free city parking lot out back. Nice location right downtown. Service was friendly but a little slow. Prices are a bit high. I'm sure we'd be back if we lived nearby, at least for ice cream (and maybe pie.) But I'd probably skip more substantial food. read more

Don't eat here unless you want to be ignored. They are only interested in serving people who order ice cream. They will give you only excuses and snotty responses why you're being ignored. You'll have to demand your money back after waiting an hour for a salad. They don't bother dealing with to-go orders so forget about that. You'll stand at the front counter for an hour waiting and only receiving glares and stares. You can ask to speak with the manager 3 separate times and they won't go get her. Ice cream is not made in house but rather sourced from a local creamery nearby Columbus. The sweet concoctions created from the local family owned creamery will leave you satisfied. My family and I dropped in on my business partner and his family earlier today in Lebanon. I told my wife and kid that if they came with me we could stop by the ice cream joint we had heard so much about earlier in the year. We are all glad that we did... Each of us grabbed an appetizer. I had chili cheese fries, my son had plain fries, and my wife had chicken tenders. Every bit of it was hot and delicious!! For a dessert, I had a chocolate malt and my wife and son both decided to have a small cup of the Rasberry chocolate chip!! We decided to stop in for lunch. First of all, the place is adorable! Very Americana. It definitely gives off retro vibes and I love that! The service was extremely friendly, but a bit slow. I had the tuna melt sandwich and my friend had the BLT. Both were served with chips and pickles and were ok/good. Nothing too exciting, just a decent sandwich. I'm sooo sad. This used to be our go to place for lunch when we felt like a good, reasonable hamburger and the best chocolate milkshake in town. The Parlor burger used to be served with chips and pickles and was the perfect sized burger. It was around $4.65. A bargain. Then it went up to five something. Understandable. Everything went up everywhere. But recently we ate here and now it's a bigger cheeseburger WITH fries for $10. If you don't want fries you get the usual chips but you still pay $10. And if you don't want anything with your burger, you still pay $10. Say what? So disappointing. Guess we will still come back but it won't be near as often. So sad. read more

It looked and tasted like a sandwich I would make at home. Service is good. Plenty of tables. Other than that, this is a nice quaint ice cream joint that beckons to years past. Under new ownership ~ ! We're driving cross country and decided to pull the RV into Lebanon. Scouted out a place for dinner (see my reviews!) and stepped out the door of that restaurant to find dessert. This quaint ice cream parlor is adorable! Ok, I'm a sucker for old fashioned stores (if you read my reviews you'll find out just how much!) The owner and staff were friendly and helpful in suggesting what to try. I took the owners suggestion and ordered the old fashioned ice cream soda w/chocolate flavor ~ YUMMmm"O"! These must be popular as the pair (mother and older son ~ so sweet!) beside us had a lime ice cream soda which "mom" said she's been enjoying them for years ~ and he had a root beer one. I like the look of the Village Ice Cream Parlor & Restaurant. It reminds me of a small ice cream shop where I grew up. But, I hate to eat there. First off, it's not a comfortable place. The chairs are horrible and the tables are small and wobbly. So, if you have any type of back injuries or like to wear pants (any kind of pants) you will not like the chairs either. They are slippery, uneven and do not feel safe. As far as food, they offer sandwiches and soups. The food is nothing special or nothing that can't be found elsewhere. The prices are okay and comparable to other sandwich places. The service is lacking. So, why go? It's a convenient place when shopping around town. It's a good location if other restaurants are too busy. Even the ice cream isn't anything special. Just plain icecream. If you want great icecream, go two doors down to Whits. It's an alternative to other places, but not my cup of tea. read more

This is a very nice little mom an pop diner. When you're here, you fell like you're in an old school milkshake shop. The decor probably hasn't changed much since it opened, and the staff is very welcoming. The shakes are delicious, and the food is good. Very reasonably priced, a good spot to try. Okay, 4 stars I know might upset some, but I need to go back and try some food. I stopped in for ice cream only which ended up being a Double Soda Float. This place makes old fashion soda floats, probably the same as they did 50 years ago. Oh what a tasty way to add a yummy drink on the drive home. I planned to stop next door and get something but they were closed, so I walked in here and I am very glad I did. I was recommended to get the raspberry cheesecake ice cream from someone outside and planned on getting that until I seen they make the soda floats. I haven't had one in maybe 10 years or so and still have fond memories of sitting by the main street and drinking one in a small town in central Ohio. Well this was worth every penny and then some. I must come back to try there food if it is half as good as the soda float I will so have found my new ice cream shop to come and grab an enjoyable meal and some yummy ice cream. What an awesome welcome and friendly visit to the Parlor. We arrived after our train ride (awesome!) at 'almost' closing time but our group of 12 was welcomed with open arms to enjoy a dessert and drink. The brownie sundae is incredible. As was the triple dip dish and strawberry parfait. It's a true soda fountain with memories of Harper Valley PTA and Milk Money - both filmed right here in Lebanon! A must stop! read more

Service is very slow, waitress was totally rude, didnt follow her own 'rule' by saying that my friend and I couldn't sit a table because it was meant for 5 people, but then a few minutes later, a couple were being seated at the 5 person table. When our waitress took our order and put it in and started helping other customers. Meanwhile, orders are piling up under the heatlamp. No one is taking food out, they're just taking orders. Finally after about 10 more minutes and completely being ignored. I had to leave to go back to work without my food. I left a message for the owner and they never responded. read more
