TIP: You access the spa from the back of the house--walk down the sloped driveway on the left side of the house, to the double doors on your right-hand side. I had a prenatal massage with Luz, and it was better than I expected. I had a maternity massage once before and it was awful, so this was a relief. The room was prepared for both a side-lying and face-down positions so that I could try out both for preference, and had a tea kettle, various teas, and some palmier fan cookies to enjoy before the start of the massage. The room and facility was clean, and the massage was exactly what I needed. I have herniated and bulging dics, on top of sciatic nerve pain and Luz provided the right amount of pressure while focusing on the problem areas. However...there is a tutoring business upstairs from the spa. I came on a Saturday morning and heard footsteps of children racing back and forth across the ceiling in the massage room! This was the only drawback of the experience. Afterwards, Luz informed me that the kids are there only once a week (I guess only Saturdays?). While it was annoying and took away from the relaxation experience, the massage itself was still great. I will likely return for services, but I'd recommend you book for a time outside of when kids are upstairs. read more

Very relaxing. Luz was very sweet! The massage was nice. But 125$ for the facial overpriced relative to other experiences. She washed my face and massaged it. She had two products; a cleanser and moisturizer. No serums or eye cream. This is not a "spa". It's a room in an old office building with a bed in it. The bathroom is communal in the hallway. You don't put a robe on, you're not offered any water, there's no shower, and they don't have any equipment or products. Disappointed. read more

My sister and I booked the Mothers Day special for our mom which included three 60-minute massages, half an hour in the sauna and hot herbal yea. Upon arrival, we were given a room where the three of us would receive our massages. We were served tea, while we changed into our robes. The tea was cold. Ok, now the massages. The masseuses were very professional and made you feel very relaxed. We even chatted with them a bit after and they were very sweet. Unfortunately, that was the only good part of the experience.... The sauna which was booked for three people actually only included space for two. We had to take turns which was silly. Then after about 5 minutes, the sauna was literally room temperature. The woman at the front desk did not seem to care too much. When I complained, she gave us money off the bill to compensate for the sauna, however I had to push for it. I hope the problem has been fixed since. Also, please do not advertise a Mother's Day special for three when you only have the means to accommodate two at a time. read more

Hands down my favorite "escape " for the very reason that its not "cookie cutter!!! And while I've never had a negative experience at the spa our last visit just really blew me away enough to write a review! Rick just outdoes himself all the time. On our most recent visit we decided to splurge on a date night since my husband was moving to Chicago for the next couple of months for work. We decided on the "Not just dinner and a movie" package which I'm pretty sure we did some time ago in their older location. I find Rick really easy to work with --he remembers us every time we call and it's nice to catch up with him every time we come in. We started with neck wraps and foot soaks--pretty standard for any package you choose and the best way to start relaxing. We picked out our dinner options and spoke to rick about some add ons we wanted for our massages. He has a variety of movies to pick from--and if you don't see one you're interested in he will download one! The massage: We had side by side hot stone massages--which is our personal favorite. We got to meet with the massage therapists before hand and they asked if there was anything medically they should know and also what intensity we wanted our massages. I'm almost certain my masseuse's name was Luz and she was AWESOME. I added on a 15 minute exfoliation and i recommend it hands down as an add on! Your skin feels amazing afterwards. I don't remember the name of the masseuse my husband had but I'm fairly certain he loved her because he felt asleep during the massage and was snoring and gave everyone a laugh! All in all great massages! Afterwards we were able to shower off and clean up. Knock on the door and Rick is always respectful making sure everyone is decent--and just never makes you feel awkward or uncomfortable. Here is where i turned into a little kid. Rick rolls into two theater chairs that recline and popcorn and candy from the movie theater. He transforms the suite into the perfect date night and I was just in awe. We got about halfway through the movie when dinner arrived. Dinner is delicious (you order from this french local spot)--and honestly the dessert is heavenly. After dinner we jumped back into our theater seats, finished our movie and our wine, and just ended the night so relaxed! I just wanted to thank you Rick--for everything! My fiancé and I are very disappointed at the new management of the spa. We have been to the spa on several occasions and now with the new management this was the only time we've been truly disappointed. First off, they no longer do hot marble foot soaks as part of the unwind. Moreover, the unwind doesn't include wine instead herbal tea. Furthermore, the massage doesn't include the hot stone combo it used to. The icing on the cake was there were no towels to shower after the massage so we went home all greasy after our massage. read more

I was looking for a place that was fairly priced to get our Mother a gift certificate for her Birthday this July. I searched through Google and found this GEM. I was slightly hesitant when I read the reviews, but when I called and left a message, my call was immediately returned by Rick the owner. He was a sweetheart on the phone and answered all of my questions (as silly as some of them may have been)! I booked my mother and her friend (I didn't want to send her all alone) for the Tea for Two package. Her and her friend came home raving about how wonderful their experience was! They said that everything was ready for her when they got there, that the tea, champagne, and even little gnoshes from a delicious local bakery were waiting for them. My mother states that she received "the best massage of my life". She states the staff were wonderful, and had she known this place was here for 12 years she would have been a customer for 12 years. If you are local you have GOT to try this place, I was appalled at some of the prices by some of the big local spas, and then I realized that The Village Spa was not only fairly priced, but also it became a personal experience for them. I would take a personal experience ANYDAY over a big name spa. They have gained 5 customers through this. My mother, her friend and her friends husband, as well as myself and my husband. We recently went to the Village Spa in Roslyn based on the amazing Yelp reviews, however we were a bit disappointed. Although the 60 minute massage we each received was great, the place itself needs a major upgrade. It's location near a lake makes it look like a fairy tale spa but that wasn't the case. Note that if you have a big party you will have to share a room so don't expect privacy (receptionist never mention this when I was making reservation) and if you order a cheese-wine platter make sure to tell them what kind of wine you prefer as they only had red. Also I won't suggest to have a girls event there as they don't have locker rooms or enough space for a big party. Lastly, all I recommend is the massage but nothing else. read more

I recently took my boyfriend here for a couples surprise, and though it was an ok experience, it was too much time. You get 2 hours and 15mins in the room. An hour of which is spent getting the massage. Firstly it isn't a full body. Thighs aren't touched when laying on back, and arms are touched for all of about 2/3 mins. Then there's the sauna, but that isn't too eventful. You're now left with a room for 1hr 15mins. I don't want to use the time to sleep. If that was the case, I'd have stayed home. I certainly wasn't using the time for sex! I'd have stayed home. So now what!? $290 certainly isn't worth a 6 scale massage, and a few cookies and tea. Maybe throw in a facial, or upgrade the massage to an additional 30mins? I won't be returning...not worth it at all. read more

My friend and I went here for a Mother's Day treat. It was AWESOME. We had a great time! We had a suite all to ourselves and it made for a very relaxing environment. After only having massages done in salons, I couldn't be more excited to not hear blow driers or have staff walking outside the door. It felt like I was really away and in a cozy little place all to my own - and RELAX! We had massages and facials (in the same room and it wasn't weird!) and then had lunch ordered it. Best part is that tip is included in the price so no having to figure out "how much do I tip this person" while they are giving you a backrub. ha ha I can't wait to do this again this year. I took my wife here for her birthday as a surprise and she loved every minute of it, the staff's great the receptionist/masseuse LUZ was very helpful with all my inquiries prior to our appointment and as a masseuse she has great hands, the place is very clean, very nicely decorated and cozy it felt very private for our couple's Massage. We enjoyed it very much, it is not a very big place but if you are just looking for a great massage and some quality time with your significant other, this place is perfect. Luz the masseuse hit every spot in my body that needed to be massaged from head to toe, my wife and I felt extremely relaxed with our massages. Awesome experience today at The Village Spa.....a hidden gem. Had no idea what to expect when I found this little spa on a hunt for a special birthday gift for my sister. Sick of Red Door every year so I thought we would try something new.....a little hesitant because the reviews were dated but ended up being thrilled with the experience. 5 Star. From the moment you walked in to the shabby chic setting you were treated like royalty. A room is set up, just for you, with a fireplace burning and tea and cookies out to start your relaxing getaway. After winding down, we were escorted to a private changing room with the most luxurious robes I have come across. Next...to the treatment room. The massage was amazing, the massage therapist professional, skllled (and quiet :)). Next an exfoliating scrub that made my skin feel awesome. After your treatment, a hot shower is running and waiting for you with plush towels. Are we done? NO! back to the fireplace room for more treats. Fresh hot teapot waiting with gorgeous gourmet pastries....and an invitation to just take your time and leave at your leisure........a sweet end to the best sweet escape I've had in years. Heard about this spa through their reviews & decided to do one of their couples' packages. Excellent. Special. Great Customer Service. I went a little crazy customizing & working directly with the owner who is their Spa Director. I wanted robes with our names embroidered, flowers, a designer cake and steak from a steakhouse. We ultimately did a variation of their heaven dinner package. Personally, I have never heard of a place that would do all that they did. i had a good experience overall. the staff is fantastic. my husband and i got married two months ago. for my birthday, he purchased the More Time Couples Massage, which included a one-hour massage and 45 minutes for shower and sauna. the first thing the woman did was bring us into a room w tea and cookies and said we could relax and unwind in there first. the massage room w the two tables was the next room, and the furthest room was our own bathroom complete w shower. we got undressed and into warm robes to start. that was awesome, esp bec the floor in the bathroom is freezing. sitting w tea was so nice. just fyi, there is a tv w dvd's in there too, not sure if ppl watch those (most of them just regular blockbuster type movies). also they gave us warm wraps to put around our necks while we waited, which were divine. the massage was really nice. my husband advised them that he didn't want them to touch his feet, and i told my masseuse that i have a herniated disc, and all went well. i did request her to focus on my mid-back, which she did not do. she basically spent 15 minutes on my shoulders and then moved down to the legs. but it was a very nice and relaxing massage. and i was so happy my husband enjoyed it. the sauna was a major let-down. you leave the massage room in your room, and basically go out into what is the reception area--just curtained off (w a curtain that does not quite cover the space). so it feels VERY awkward to undress and be naked in the sauna. also, the sauna is very small, much smaller than other massage places i've been. also, beware the nails sticking out of the walls of the sauna. i didn't notice them and one of them stabbed my finger when i was moving around. then we went to the shower. the shower was great. and as i mentioned above, the receptionist/my masseuse as well as the other masseuse were very kind and helpful. if it weren't for shedding blood here, i might come back. read more

Our experience with Village Spa began with making the appointment. You might think this is something minor but maybe you haven't had the experiences I've had making appointments. Rick was so pleasant and professional on the phone. We arrived at the place super early. My husband and I were celebrating our 28th anniversary. I guess we were anxious to start the experience. ;) Rick was very accommodating. We were willing to wait in the waiting area but Rick took us to the suite immediately. I was impressed with the size and set up of the suite. My husband and I have visited many spas in and out of state. The Village Spa definitely ranks at the top of the list. The massage therapists were really good. My husband would have preferred more pressure but I don't hold that against the therapist. All he had to do was tell her and she would have adjusted it. Make sure you communicate with the therapist about pressure and what areas of your body you don't liked massaged (I don't like my head massaged). After the massage we were able to go into the sauna and then shower. The price, which includes gratuities, was really worth the whole experience. We plan on going back soon. read more

I have been to the Village Spa twice. The first time was to celebrate a 1-year anniversary for my boyfriend and myself (and also to indulge in a little post-finals relaxation after a particularly tough semester of law school) by getting a traditional couples massage. After doing a TON of research about spas and massage centers on Long Island, the Village Spa came up time and time again as the place to go. We went for their traditional couples massage. It really did NOT disappoint, and far exceeded any expectations. We went a 2nd time for a Valentine's Day couples massage again, and once more, the experience was even better than the last. Let's start from the moment you walk in. The spa is located in a historic building in Roslyn Village, facing a BEAUTIFUL view of the lake. It really feels like you've managed to find a secluded little spot and escape from the world. The building looks rustic, which I love, but when you enter the spa, it is beautiful, clean, and smells amazing. Like just, one of the best scents ever. You're greeted by Rick, the spa owner, who really is a very nice guy and clearly enjoys what he does. Every thing is set up when you get there and you're ushered into the couples massage suite, which you get to yourselves for the entire duration of your treatments. The traditional couples massage is supposed to last for an hour and 15 minutes (one hour for the massage, and 15 minutes for a pre-massage wind down with neckwraps, champagne and foot soaks). However, you get FAR longer time to unwind and relax both before the massage and after the massage. The suite that you get for the massage includes a lovely shower, beautiful lighting and decoration, and an adorable table for you to sit down and enjoy your wine/champagne, your bottle of water, and a bowl of chocolates. The neckwraps smell AHHMAZING, feel great, and were always the perfect temperature (not too hot, not too cool - but perfect to begin the relaxation process). You get your own plush robe, and each person gets a basin for the marble foot soaks. They put lavender essential oils in the soaks, and I love it. The first time, my boyfriend felt the water was a bit too hot, but I thought it was perfect (then again, his feet are baby soft, whereas mine have seen better days after 7 years of working in retail lol). Then the massage therapists come in, explain how the massage is going to work, whether they're going to start with you laying face up or face down, etc. They then leave again so that you can situate yourself up on the tables, which are plush, HEATED, and layered with soft blankets, towels and sheets. The massage therapists come back in and get started. At this point, I just go comatose and enjoy the massage lol. The massage therapists really know what they're doing, and apply a very good amount of pressure (but they always ask if you want more or less, or if you have any concerns or conditions that they should be aware of). Very professional, very thorough. Some people complain about the amount of oil but I think it's a great amount. Enough to moisturize but you don't feel greasy. The hot stone teaser at the end is MARVELOUS. It really helps to soothe and relax the muscles that have just been massaged. The massage (in my opinion) lasts slightly longer than the hour, which is fine by me. The therapists are very respectful and quiet, and it makes the experience truly relaxing and enjoyable, but they do communicate well with the massage recipient. Perfect balance right there! After the massage, you have the option of showering or just getting dressed. I don't like to shower because honestly, my skin is drier than the Sahara, and the oil makes me feel soft lol. But at least you have the option, right? Then you leave the suite, and return to the real world. The thing I appreciate is that tips are included in the price of the service, so you don't have to deal with the awkwardness of figuring out what to give as a tip or deal with cash. It makes the experience very very enjoyable. At the end of the massage, Rick greets you once more, is very friendly and provides you with either some fancy chocolates, or, in our case on valentine's day, a DELICIOUS custom chocolate cookie! So all in all, this place is wonderful. We will definitely be going back again for a 3rd, a 4th, a 5th time. I STRONGLY, STRONGLY recommend The Village Spa. I've had massages at the Red Door Spa, fancy (and expensive) spas in my neighborhood (i.e. Cappellini, which no longer exists), and various other spots. The Village Spa is far superior than any of those. Please just do yourself a favor and go there. You'll feel like you've had a vacation in a day. Oh, and ignore the negative reviews on SpaFinder. I have a feeling they're competitors writing negative things because I've been here twice, and I have never experienced vacuuming or loud talking or rude/chatty therapists. Back in December I purchased a massage special for two which was referred to as March Madness because that's when the special began. I scheduled the massage for June 5th. It was a nice and relaxing environment, the masseuses seemed nice. I don't remember both their names but I believe one was Roberta. The massage was decent. My boyfriend had no cash for tip so he asked one of the masseuses if he can use his debit card to give tip. The woman said it was fine and I myself gave Roberta $20 cash. They both accepted the tip. I went to work the next day and told my coworker (who referred me to them) about my experience. When I asked her if she thought $20 tip for each was enough she seemed surprised and told me I wasn't supposed to tip because gratuity was included. I've been to professional massage places before and gratuity was never included so I thought the same for this place. If gratuity was included I think they should have told us or not accept the tip. My coworker said they weren't supposed to accept it because she once tried to tip the first time she went and the girls told her they couldn't take it and the owner told her it's because gratuity was already included in the price. I would have gone back to this place but because of that tip situation it made me no longer want to go there. I just wanted to let anyone reading this know if they didn't already know before, don't tip them because it's already included unless you want to give them extra. Now I know next time I go to any spa to ask if gratuity is included so I wouldn't make the same mistake and over tip. read more

Went with a girlfriend for their 31/4 hour indulgence which included massage, facial & lunch and we did the whole experience together in one of their suites. We had the best time! Place is beautiful, clean, the staff was really good. It felt luxurious with the plus robes, lush neck wraps, delicious scented marble foot soaks. This is a really late review. I booked back in July for my sister in and I, we both got gifts from our husbands for the mothers day package. I booked thru email and Luz was extremely patient and helpful even though I had to change our appointment about 5 times. Other than that, it was a huge disappointment. I found out I was pregnant at the time so I asked to have my massage part taken out in exchange for a longer better facial. I've been to many spas and gotten hundreds of facials and I can say this was by far the worst. The lady was nice but I knew right away she was NEW. First off her fingertips were chapped and dry so it felt like sandpaper on my face. Her massage was all over the place, she barely knew how to turn on the steam machine and she wouldn't do any extractions. My two year old daughter could have done what she did. Huge waste of money. My sister in law said her experience wasn't as bad but again, not even close to one of our best. At the end of the service, they didn't even come out to say bye. Uhmm...yeah better to spend your money else where. Would not recommend or come back ever again read more

Massage very good at Village Spa. Was given a gift certificate for a Romantic Getaway. We found parking on a saturday night to be horrible. We were led into our suite for couples foot soaks, the water was to cool for warm soaks,and the neck wraps were too cool as well, However the massage was great. Very professional and relaxing. the Music very nice. Dinner was selected from a menu. Good timing, and taste good. Comp wine was good, could have been chilled. Overall experience Good. Inspite of the small details , this place is clean and quite. Rooms look as they do on the web site. I recently went to the Village Spa with my boyfriend. I suprised him with not just dinner and a movie package. We both loved the idea of spending the day together with no phones, no interupptions... just us...Rick made sure that we were very happy and taken care of which we were!!!!!!!!! The hot stone massages were wonderful... lunch was great and desert which was a cake a specially ordered for my bf birthday was wonderful!!!! It was such a wonderful day for us and I would hope that we can go back at least once every year and do this.....Great price for all you get as well!!!! I'll pass on a trip to the Village Day Spa! My daughter bought my husband and me a couple's massage as a gift ($230.) We had misplaced it during construction, and when I went to use it, it had expired. When I spoke with the owner, I was told that they would not honor the certificate -- not even at a discounted rate. He didn't care about the ramifications of his decision, and was fine with my telling whoever I felt needed to know about it. Beware if you're planning on buying a gift certificate from them. The owner has no qualms about taking your money without rendering a service. It must be nice to be so secure in your business that you don't need customers -- especially in these tight economic times. I'll take my business to Gurney's instead! read more

I have been to this establishment about 5 or 6 times with my husband. We have always thoroughly enjoyed our experiences there. The owner and staff have been nothing but professional. It is always a treat for us to go there. We had couple massages in different locations, but always compare them to The Village Spa! We haven't found a place we enjoy as much. This place is simply amazing! I have gone to other spas before, but this place takes the experience to whole different level. I honestly didn't know a spa could be this good and yet so cheap. I came in with a friend today for the couples "give us just a little more time" package, and it was perfect. The massage was great (about the same as other spas), but the details on everything else is what sold me. FIrst of all, there is no annoying papers to complete or waiting involved like other spas. As soon as we came in, Rick (the director; nicest guy you will ever meet) took us right to the room and showed us everything that was available to us. We had foot soaks, champagne, the massage, hot stone treatment, private sauna, and a private shower for only 300 total. The whole place is elegantly put together and very private. No one ever bothered us...even after we stayed 45 minutes past the length of our package. Your private area consists of a dining room with tv, massage room (beds can be put together afterwards), shower (with the greatest shower ever) and a sauna. I will definitely be going back to this place again in a couple of weeks...except with a package that includes dinner and dessert. Definitely recommend this place to everyone. read more
