The cafe has a great selection of sandwiches. The Shoemaker is my personal favorite (chicken salad). I have a gluten allergy, which they can accommodate well. I have never had an adverse reaction to one of their sandwiches. For some reason, though, they never cut the GF sandwiches, which makes it hard to eat. I always forget to ask for a knife. The GF bread is tasty and often worth the hassle when it falls apart, but sometimes I just ask for no bread. read more

It turns out planned parenthood rents an office in the same building that the VIN BIN rents in, so there were about 30 people with signs and disturbing pictures picketing out front.. I decided then to go in and buy something in support of their business.. Regardless of politics / religious beliefs a good local business shouldn't be protested in front of because of an office rented upstairs.. I just moved to the area and tried the Marlboro location. I got a half sandwich and soup combo for lunch. Half shoemaker sandwich and a bowl of chowder. I wish this was an overstatement but BEST chowder I've had in years. I consider myself a bit of a connoisseur of chowder but this clam chowder is on par with the best. I'm trying to figure why this place gets the reviews it does. Maybe it's the idea of a hip little wine shop in downtown where you can hang out? The wine selection is pathetic. Everything is all spread out to make it look like they have a big selection, but really, there isn't that much to choose from. There are plenty of convenance stores and liquor stores that have a WAY better selection. One of my favorites is the white wine section, the sun comes through the windows and directly shines on the bottles. Who pays for wine getting baked in the sun? The Vin Bin is the high quality, hip place that all cities need in their downtown. It's located in a renovated old police station in downtown. It's very stylish, clean lines inside with vintage photos of Marlborough hanging on the walls. The wine selection is wonderful and though I am not an expert, I have found a favorite (Adesso)! And yes, we have ordered that wine by the case! They have lovely cheeses, spreads, chocolate cakes (Bella cakes - you must try), crackers and all sorts of accessories. We also get our beer there too. Now they serve food; sandwiches and such but they are divine. You can sit inside at cafe seating or outside facing the street, which is great for people-watching. This place is one of my FAVs. Boyfriend and I go here to pick up a special bottle of wine, a "cheese of the week" or even a beer cookie! I get the weekly newsletter via my email so am always up to date on whats new and what they have to offer. In September they had a wine and cheese tasting where boyfriend and I (well more boyfriend) bought 17 bottles! The set up was so neat and the tastings were conducted by people who were knowledgable about their wines. On a store level, the staff is friendly and the store adorable.
