The treatment room had a lot of light and that is only downside for me. I like it dark in the room if possible. I recommend getting a 90 minute massage so they can focus on issues and give you a full body massage too. The location is great near lots of shops and restaurants if you want to make a day of it.

Alison is a very educated and experienced practitioner, with a strong healing intuition and genuine compassion. She sits before each treatment and asks detailed questions about symptoms, so I feel confident that the treatment she recommends is right on target for my current situation. I saw her for pain following a hip replacement, and she used both acupuncture and massage. Every treatment brought significant improvement, and the results lasted longer and longer each time. Later I suffered from major depression and she modified her techniques, gave lifestyle recommendations, and gradually brought me out of it. In both cases I used acupuncture in addition to Western medication, and the combination was very powerful. I have been a patient of Dr. Stuart's for nearly nine years…read more At first, my work hours and assignment locations (north central Portland) allowed me greater convenience to select flexible appointments. Later, when my hours and work location (I'm in Beaverton now) moved me further away and sometimes limited my choice of appointment times, I ignored the advice of many of my friends telling me to locate a closer Chiropractor and stayed with Dr. Stuart; her being the ONLY reason or need for me to come into Portland (from west Beaverton to east Portland). I tell you this because she is the genuine article. She's worth my trip. One thing she won't do is toot her own horn. She plays it off, but she cares a great deal about her clients care and well being. Dr. Stuart is meticulous and compassionate in getting to the root of your discomfort and finding the cause. She also respects her patient's privacy. She is prompt with her appointments; your time with her IS your time; she doesn't double or triple book like some offices. She works the neck, head, spine and hips and has even done some TMJ work on me; doing wonders for my pain management! She has a modified schedule (closed Thursdays but open Saturdays) to help accommodate those with weird schedules. Her office also utilizes several Licensed Massage Therapists if the need (and your insurance covers) arises. Sorry, it's not just the Doc; they also work miracles by the hour as well. (I'm coping with the idea that my favorite therapist is leaving someday soon to become one of our nation's BEST nurses...so proud!) She bills some insurance (you'll need to call, I don't know who). I've seen worker's comp cases come in, but since it wasn't any of my business, I didn't pay any attention; I can't tell you about what is and isn't accepted. Give Dr. Stuart a call. Stop in and give her a chance. It says "Appointment Only" below, which is mostly true. Sometimes they have cancellations and they may be able to fit you in...keep in mind Then find out if your insurance covers the massage with it. If not, see if you can handle that part of the cost. The SMARTEST THING in pain management I've ever seen was to have a Massage Therapist in a Chiropractor's office. They go together like peanut butter and jelly. Give Amanda, Lissa (short for Melissa) or Sylvia a chance to work out the rest of the kinks before or after your adjustment. YOU'LL GET HOOKED! (this is my opinion. Dr. Stuart did not ask for this review.)

However, within 5 minutes Candace had me feeling completely at ease and we proceeded to make a plan on the order in which we should treat each issue and about how long it might take for each one. After the first visit I noticed a marked difference in how I felt right away. As time went on, I experienced improvement on a steady basis. What I loved most were my "acu-naps" - I've never been so relaxed! After the needles were in, I usually dozed off for a good half hour, waking up feeling totally refreshed. I looked forward to my weekly visits knowing I would come away with less pain and stress free. Hold on for an incredible story of "inner healing" and "flute therapy" ladies and gentlemen. You will laugh and hopefully feel my discomfort by the end of this story. I made an apt for a shiatsu & deep tissue massage with Jonathan per the recommendation of the front desk as a Thai massage therapist was not available. Upon arrival on time, I was greeted by very slow, laid back service. While filling out my paperwork my massage therapist chatted with a coworker and continued his conversation after seeing I was done. Once we got into the massage room he asked the normal questions and then proceeded to start a short yoga session to open my back and arms. I was clearly not dressed for that but I did my best. Afterward, he started the massage in which I let him know I like firm pressure. He proceeded with a very lackluster attempt at a massage and then the music turned off AND HE STARTED PLAYING THE FLUTE! I kid you not! He did two circles around me with his passionate flute playing, then informed me the "experience" was done. I looked at my phone and saw that he ended exactly an hour after I arrived at the shop, not after the massage began. I was floored! He then proceeded to give me a sales pitch and remind me how expensive the massages are normally. I felt so uncomfortable I left a $10 tip and left. If I could go back in time, I would have left nothing. To end it all, my back started to twitch and go out on my way home. Needless to say, this was the most awkward waste of money and time.
