Inside, the store is quite big and has pretty-much every single vitamin and supplement you could ever ask for. Sometimes this makes finding something a bit daunting from their massive selection. However, usually there's a staff member who will greet me quickly and ask me what I need. By now, however, I know exactly where I need to go so I usually beeline it in, get my things, and head up to the counter. The Vitamin Shoppe sets up your account via your phone number. During registration, you can also give them your email address (I do since I like to have my receipts emailed to me). I've been a Vitamin Shoppe customer for 15 years. For the past seven years, I've been going to the San Francisco location, which relocated to Colma, CA. I live about 15-20 minutes away, and it's worth the drive--I visit about twice every other month. The employees have always been exceptional; they've been a cornerstone for my health and fitness needs and are generous with their knowledge. I go to the vitamin shop because it is close to my house. this is my second time feeling racially profiled while shopping. They ask me repeatedly did I need help after i said no thank thank you. When I went up to register the guy proceeded to ask me if I was going to pay for the items in my hand. It's absolutely rude to question a customer if they are going to pay. The reason I don't accept their services is due to the lack of friendliness I've seen and experience. I think if you are a BLACK OR BROWN PERSON WHO WANTS HEALTHY VITMAINS AND CAN TRAVEL SUPPORT RAINBOW GROCERY, they will actually know the products and can better explain. This Vitamin Shoppe has come through for me so many times that the time has come to write a review! Where do I even start?! I've had this misconception that the Vitamin Shoppe is only for muscle heads and bodybuilders. I was flat out wrong. This place is a pregnant lady's dream - Garden of Life prenatal vitamins and probiotics, they got 'em! Floradix liquid iron supplements because you're anemic? They got 'em! Papaya enzyme for heartburn because your baby is going to have lots of hair? They got it! Castor oil to naturally induce labor? They got it! Postpartum and need Garden of Life protein/weight loss powder that's safe for breastfeeding? They got that! Milled flaxseed for lactation cookies because Trader Joe's is all sold out? They got that too! Fancy bone broth to drink to speed up healing? They got that as well! If you're pregnant or postpartum, this place surprisingly has many midwife approved remedies, vitamins and supplements. Yes the prices are a tad bit on the pricey side but they have GREAT sales AND a convenient location! I can't always get to Whole Foods in San Mateo to get what I need. Sometimes Trader Joe's is sold out of what I need and places like Target or Safeway is very hit or miss on what I need. I've also had much success with ordering online for in store pick up! Fabulous! I'm always greeted by the staff, even when I try to make a beeline to exactly what I want. They still take the time to ask me if I found everything okay. I like that! They really are friendly. The "One Bar" boxes were buy one get one 50% off but the moment I touched the open box she went to check the other open box so I ended up just getting two bars. It's located at 280 Metro Center in Colma (my favorite necropolis) It's taken over 1/3 of the space vacated by Barnes & Noble (the side that housed the Starbucks) Now..at first glance it appears to be just like a GNC (General Nutrition Center) which also has a presence in this strip mall. My cynical side naturally had pretty low expectations for a place with "shoppe" in it's name! "Ye Olde Vitamin Shoppe"....anywho...once inside I was impressed with the vast selection...brands I'd never heard of, some I've read about in health magazines or glimpsed at Whole Foods but hadn't yet tried, etc. The gent that greeted me was friendly, but not at all pushy, as I roamed the aisles looking at all the colorful bottles of supplements, potions, beauty products. However, once I did ask a question I was impressed that more information was requested of me...such as overall health, any allergies and the like, before giving me any suggestions/product recommendations! (Very un-GNC like!) The overall vibe was that these folks are much more educated in wellness and perhaps NOT just 100% focused on pushing products on you that may or may not be a fit! I was a VS regular for years in another part of the country. When I moved to Nor Cal there were none local to be found. I can buy VS products online, but I am a shopper who likes to use more of my senses (see, hear, touch, smell, etc.) which a store provides. I was happy when I stumbled upon the VS Colma store. Pros: The store is clean and neat. The store has a good variety. Some items are fairly expensive, but competitive with other high end specialty vitamin/nutrition stores. They provide research tools in the store - computer, literature, etc. that is helpful. I also like the reward program. Cons: The store does not seem to get a lot of customer traffic. The consistency in the customer service from the staff (humans - go figure) varies greatly with regard to their friendliness and helpfulness. The combination of low store customer traffic and inconsistency in customer service may impact this store's survival rate. read more

They have a wide variety of supplements to choose from and with sale price, they're all fair considering that most of the time they even match Amazon's pricing. Staff is cool. I bought symbiotics colostrum which was surprisingly close to the same price online .Customer service is mediocre, they are knowledgeable about where the products are at but not the studies behind them. Not the nicest service I have had from a vitamin and supplement store, maybe they should get on some of their own products like l tyrosine or phenylethylamine. I had to interrupt her deep conversation with the other gentlemen to ask for help and she did not look happy about it, as I ask questions she quickly answers with a blank face like she wanted me to get the hell out! She went back to her engaged conversation as I stood there in a shelf of countless vitamins with no answer, I stood there and did not found anything, so I went and tried to explain to her that I need it a vitamin that dissolves quickly for better absorption, her shocking answer left me speechless she said: "I thought we went over that already!" "What else it is it that you want to know? " I grab a bottle of the one that I thought I wanted and left, is the wrong vitamins of Couse; I refuse to go back and deal with that lady who does not want my business. I am obsessed with vitamin shoppe! This location is well-lit and clean with tons of parking. The workers are always available and ready to help. As soon as you walk in you are greeted and that's really nice. I've come in here 3 times already and always get exactly what I'm looking for. Anytime I have any questions whether or not they carry the items the workers know exactly what I'm talking about. Prices here can be pretty steep but with all the sales that happen frequently you can be sure to catch what you need at its best price. They also carry liquid vitamins as well as protein powders. Take a walk around this store and you are bound to find something that will interest you. It definitely makes me want to have supplements for everything. So cool.
