To be honest, I am very new to this vitamin and supplement world, so I don't feel that qualified to write a full review. But I did have a good and bad experience in my short 10 minute visit here. I came in looking to try protein for the first time and needing LOTS of guidance. A woman who now I can't remember her name (she has black and red hair) was SO HELPFUL. She was really educating me until she had to break away to ring up another customer. She handed me off to Brendan and it went very downhill. I re-explained that this would be my first time using protein, then he responded with a snarky "Well haven't you ever ate a piece of meat? Yeah? Then you have had protein." Ugh. Really? Not very friendly or inviting. I got what I thought I needed and left. I ended up going to Nutrition for Less right afterwards and got better treatment. I need me some protein! Since becoming a pescatarian/vegetarian and my crazy workout schedule, I rely more on my protein drinks more so than ever. Plus, they're super yummy! I really wanted a mocha/coffee flavor one but the brand I normally buy from didn't have the flavor I wanted at this location :( But Eric was super helpful and recommended another brand's mochachinno flavor. Kinda pricey if your ask me...... GREAT stock of items, something to please your everyday pill popper and naturalista alike. I went in looking for coconut oil....REALLY $$ for some oil. Like $9 bucks for a mid size container. But it taste amazing, smells amazing and great for your hair and skin (direct use). Loads of other $$$ items, Jojoba oil (cheaper to go to TJ's), Vitamin E oil (better to get it on Amazon). Would come back in a clutch but not my first choice for the homemade hair and skin care items i make. read more

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say this is by far my favorite of the Vitamin Shoppes. I've been coming to this one for almost three years now. And though they have their off days, usually they are VERY helpful. I will say I do have my favorite employees and my not so favorite as most people do with places they frequent. They do have a few new faces I'm not familiar with but there are people there who can help you with pretty much ANY health need and from what I've found they'll spend extra time to help you out. Sundays is not a good day to go. I have not had a good Sunday experience. They are way understaffed for the amount of customer traffic (and rude customers too as I've found out.) I'm not sure why they don't schedule better since there are only one to two staff and a bajillion people. I'm a pretty active girl so I'm very picky about what products I choose and what kind of advice I will take. There used to be more experts at this location but now its narrowed down to maybe two I would trust. First is the taller assistant manager guy. Mike or Michael I think. He is the sports nutrition guru. His information is incredible. I've gone to him over and over with even advanced workout advice and the guy really knows his stuff. I've even cross referenced much of his words and he really pans out with pro-level advice from top trainers. The guy would make a mint if he did consulting. I love that he's honest because if he doesn't like a product he outright tells it to you straight. He has good knowledge for both men and WOMEN! YES! Finally a guy who can help a girl without BS'ing her. The other guy who is good with the sports advice is the main store manager. (I forget his name.) He's a bit heavy set but he is very knowledgable and generous with it. And not nearly as cute as the first guy. Heheh. Of the ladies I love Stef and the other hispanic gal. Stef has been there since I've been going and is always cheery and the hispanic girl is super nice. Both know their stuff and will help with "girl issues" in the health department. The only gripes I have is that when its busy, it is a mad house and good luck getting quality time with the experts. Even though I love spending a lot of time there, on the busy days I have been known to just walk away and come back later. The other is the young blond guy stares at my chest when he's helped me. To sum it up, go when its not as busy so you can get the extra time with the pro's. =) I love it here! read more

My wife and I went in this afternoon to pick up one item and initially were only planning on spending under $30. I was curious about some other items and asked Stephanie if she could answer some questions. She was more than happy to not only answer but also spend about 30 minutes with us answering questions and offering suggestions on items based on what we were curious in trying. As far as she knew we were there only for one item and to have a few questions answered but I ended up deciding to buy a little over $100 in items because I loved the customer service experience and the information she provided. Definitely shopping at this health store over any other from now on. I'll note, at no point did she tell us about any items and ask if we wanted to purchase or push any "sale" promotion on us so we'd be convinced to buy. She simply was happy to answer, suggest and explain without expecting we'd buy anything. That's great service! read more

Vitamin Shoppe is one of the best stores to visit when it comes to health and wellness needs. This store is one of my favorites, period. I frequently visit this store (about 6-7 times a month) and I don't even live in the city of Pasadena, but to be clear I do work across the street from this store. I wanted to say that this store and Vitamin Shoppe in general always has what I need and carries the products that I like and love. I visit this store mostly for the cold section of pre-made preworkout drinks and protein shakes for my drives home back to the Antelope Valley or for when I stay in East Los Angeles and buy these drinks for my girlfriend and myself when we hit the gym when I'm over there. I do purchase the larger tubs of protein and preworkout as well but that isn't as frequent as the pre-made drinks. The snacks is another favorite for this store as well. I feel like i'm always close to a healthy snack when ever i need it. Another reason why I come to this store is because of the Employees. Everyone who works is very helpful and friendly and I believe that is what makes stores great. They are knowledgeable about the products they carry and can always help find the right product for me. The people that are their working make the store a great place to visit. I visit frequently and most of the time I don't need anything but I go in because of the people that work their. All the employees are great and I've come to know each of them by name. Bill, Stefanie, Erin, Briana, and Ben are all great and it doesn't matter who is working at the time because no matter who is there you are always going to be helped by great people. The store is always great and I believe who ever visits the store is always going to get great customer service by any of them. The store is clean, the layout is awesome. This place is great! The last couple of times I have been there I have been helped my Eric, the best customer service and the knowledge to back his product! Eric has helped me find the a Hydrolyzed protein that I love ISO100 and has also helped me out with some sleep issues I was having, along with promoting sleep muscle growth by suggesting ZMA and Gabba Sooth. I decided to start taking fish oil supplements to lower my cholesterol. Problem is, the pills are so darn big that I start choking every time I try to swallow one! Thankfully the staff were happy to help, and they pointed me toward a liquid version of the supplement with orange flavoring to mask the taste. They even suggested some things I could mix it into if I really couldn't stand it (yogurt, pudding, oatmeal, etc.). I will definitely come back here for all my holistic needs. read more

I have mixed feelings about the location. They have an excellent selection of dietary supplements for people with all sorts of goals. The prices usually aren't too bad either (depending on what you're getting). Suffice to say, the Vitamin Shoppe will give you more bang for your buck than most other brick and mortar supplement shops, and that alone makes it worthwhile. Some things can be acquired more cheaply online, so it's good to shop around, but the store also offers pretty frequent discounts and coupons. Speaking of coupons, though, apparently you have to have a printout of any coupons you receive via email if you intend to use them in the store. Simply having the coupon code on hand (you know, the one that you are allowed to use for online purchases) isn't enough. I was really annoying to go in with a specific purchase in mind and the coupon code written down only to be told "You have to print out the actual coupon. I'd like to just take your word for it, but it's store policy." I really had no idea what to say to that. While it probably wasn't the employee's fault, it is a very stupid policy. Clearly if the code is enough for the website, there is no reason (other than poor organization on the company's part, perhaps) that it should not work for the store. There ought to be no need to "take my word for it". It was an irritating enough rule that I left my items there and made that purchase elsewhere. An issue that is perhaps more difficult to resolve is that many of the supplements are kept near windows, which is great for display purposes, but probably contributes to their degradation (lots of organic molecules break down faster when exposed to heat and light, which means some supplements will tend to lose their potency in those conditions). I have noticed them drawing the shades at times, which is a positive step, but I still tend to avoid buying supplements that look like they've been sitting in the sunlight. Unfortunately, there is a tradeoff for them as a business, since I'm sure seeing their huge variety of enticing goodies (and there are quite a few) draws in a lot of customers. But it's still not good for the company if they compromised the quality of many of those products. The employees themselves are mostly pretty friendly and helpful, though there's a fair amount of variability there. Usually at the very least, they will offer help or advice if asked, and while they sometimes approach customers, they thankfully don't behave too aggressively either. Definitely worth a visit if you're looking to buy a specific supplement or just get an idea what's out there. read more

i skimmed some previous reviews and was baffled...contrary to the mood killers, customer service here is outstanding, every time. I am a frequent VS shopper and time and time again I am always greeted with friendly and welcoming staff. I have purchased an array of products including acidophilus supplements, beauty products, and anything with the word CHOCOLATE written on it. While the prices never excite me as being "cheap", i continue to come here for the attentive service and knowledgeable staff who always take the time to answer my many questions. Even better, they never pressure me into buying anything ( likely bc their employees do not get commission). Nonetheless it makes for a pleasant shopping trip... Plus, they often hook me up with samples ( free stuff and I'm sold). TIPS: yes, the parking is not the most convenient and requires parking in an underground lot and even a quick elevator ride. Let's keep in mind folks, if you are so concerned with your health as to shop for vitamins, consider the two minute trip from parking lot to destination as a free gift from them to you...exercise my friends, it's good for you! read more

This place is hit and miss. At times they have some great deals, and great customer service, other times it seems that nothing worth buying is on sale and their customer service sucks. I come here mainly for my protein powder and whatever vitamins I think I need. Their prices are pretty comparable to some online places, maybe $2-3 more, but it's easier for me to pick it up here than wonder if FedEx/UPS is going to leave it at my door or if I have to be home to receive it. I also joined the rewards program, so I figure if I'm gonna get my vitamins/protein, I should just get it from one place. They also have free parking with validation in the garage below. I don't usually write bad reviews but today I had no choice. I understand the store closes at nine but I was there a few minutes before the store closes and the store doors were already close. So I waited because they had some guy inside by the register paying. As soon as the guy came out I asked the lady if I could buy something quick. I already knew what I wanted and she said no. Have most of my wanted Supps, sometimes i have to go to other heath stores but it does the trick, clean friendly staff.

I have had a terrible experience at this store!!! One day I shopped for some time as I often do...got my supplements together and asked the clerk 'Jared' to assist me in the locked case of mens supplements. We discussed the products and he ended up helping me decide on particular box that was on sale. He opened the case and removed the box and took it to front counter added up with all my other vitamins. It seemed more than I had allotted or figured in my head as my budget (150.00) and so I asked if he could take off two less expensive, less important bottles that I moved to side. I paid then left store. once home I realized on receipt that I was overcharged on the supplement he retrieved from the locked case...as It was rung up as non-sale price...Jared told me to return the next day. Next day I returned and Jared referred me to Micah Larson the manager and he said he needed to go check the price in the display case as he proceeded to do...ofcourse the big SALE sign was in front of the product listing the specific product and the specific discount and the specific price!! He came back to the register and said he would need to refund me the total amount of the overcharged supplement which totaled 62.55 then refund me the 30.73 that was supposed to have been discounted off from the beginning. He did this using my debit card again. Once home and the next day I realized when looking on my internet bank statement that what happened was he charged me the 30.73 on my debit card and did not refund the 62.55! So essentially I have paid double extra for the supplement. I was supposed to get over 30.00 off the supplement because of the sale but instead I am sitting on a 62.55 debit charge to my bank account. I have called 7-8 times and even called the corporate office in NJ. To me this is Ludicrous! Who does it serve to not amend this situation immediately?? I feel sorry for anyone that has a real problem with this company because they have been about as unresponsive, arrogant and flat out wrong on this matter. Especially this manager Micah Larson. Wow. what an irresponsible person. I have my own business for twenty years now and never could I treat not even one customer like that as I would have the Contractors State License Board after me! I am not a huge company with alot of lawyers behind me and corporate protocol to buffer everything. You would think though that the human beings that work there would have enough sincerity to not rip someone off and then have an ENTIRE WEEK pass by and still nothing done about this. I have shopped at this store for years and never am the type to write complaints but I am appalled and really do not know what else to do. I filed a report with BBB and now am filling out forms for the Attorney General. Wow. I doubt I want to shop here again. Not a boycott type person either but this is a bad experience! Now I see what they mean about helping a customer getting more customers but Not helping a customer that has been treated poorly ....lose ALOT of 'word of mouth' customers. Hope this helps. Came in the afternoon, there were still about 3-4 other people. not sure why 2 out of the 3 employees left. But Melissa was a superstar. She helped us find a lot of the items we needed and when i mean a lot I mean A LOT. She was still effectively able to help out the other customers. When they didnt have enough inventory, she reached out to other stores in the area to ask them to put on hold for us. She even called one store twice when we forgot one item on our list. All that she's done so far mightve seen expected of employees, but she also has a very organized and aesthetically pleasing way of when she rung us up. We had 32 items or so and they were neatly lined up in size and facing the same way. She even checked all the expiration date of each item and pointed out that one would be 3 months from expiration and gave us a discount. Very much appreciated. read more

The clerk MICHELE was very rude and unprofessional. Kept giving me dirty looks because I didn't want a store credit. Think twice about purchasing here.
