Beaming is the smoothie spot right at the entrance of the Pasadena Equinox and I couldn't be happier about it! Everything about this place is a joy, their smoothies, their cleanses, their grab and go food items. Everything is quality. For the smoothies, they have such excellent variety so regardless if you are craving chocolate or fruit or mint or citrus, there is a smoothie for you. The ingredients are always fresh. They put real spinach and real kale and frozen fruit, not just a bunch of powders. Do spring for the reusable smoothie cup which earns you 10% off your future smoothie purchases. I also did several rounds of cleanses which were also great. The cleanses are a mixture of green/red juices, protein smoothies, veggie soups, and you even get a lunch and a dinner that you can chew. They are vegan dishes - no meat or dairy. I'm a huge fan of the falafel! The cleanse actually accomplishes what you want without feeling like you are suffering through an extreme amount of deprivation which I've experienced with all juice cleanses. The menu has a surprisingly amount of stuff too, such as Acai bowls, waffles, chia puddings, soups, shots. Their baked goods are quite good and I recommend the Beaming Cookie (super delish for a clean chocolate chip cookie substitute). I adore this place! read more

Looks like this spot used to be pretty great based on previous photos & reviews, regrettably not what I found today. Looks like it's only smoothies and açaí bowls at this point, which isn't the problem at all. There's no signage to make it clear that this is a separate business from Equinox, whom they share the suite with, and where probably 95% of their customers come from. The entrance also doesn't make it clear that there is anything other than a gym here, nor is there any posted signage with operating hours. This place only registered to me because it's on my left every time I check in to the gym. I finally got to try a drink today because I'm typically leaving the gym before they even open, other than Mondays. Coming up to the order counter I see the same guy I always see there, walking back & forth behind the counter, but I had never seen him make anything, so it's unclear if I should expect him to take my order? There was another customer who was off to the side and again unclear if she was picking up an order, trying to pay, or what... so I just stood there. Guy behind the counter politely smiles in my direction but (while not making a drink or anything) doesn't verbally acknowledge me or let me know that he'll be right with me or anything. This is going on long enough to be awkward/frustrating, about 5-7 minutes. I've already hit the point where I'm paying for parking despite validation, and I really wanted to try a damn drink so I'm just standing there waiting. Finally the other customer finishes up whatever was going on and they are ready for me... during this time an emoloyee had come out from somewhere and looked busy behind the counter. The guy takes my order and is speaking with the other employee about what looks like online orders coming in. They discuss who will make which order and at the slowest pace imaginable, they are filling the vitamix containers with ingredients and like, helping each other in a weird way. One would get a scoop of something and put it in the container the other one is holding, instead if just putting the scoop back for them to use so that they can continue with the next ingredient. It was just weird and slowwww, have never seen that method... Fianlly got my drink and it tastes great! Obviously a really good recipe and good ingredients, standard portion and would definitely like to get a bigger size for $10 but again not important. What's important is service. Being prepared to tell customers pleasantly that you are not associated with the business you share a suite with is HUGE. Posting a sign if you don't wish to tell people repeatedly what your hours are is also a big one. While I work with the public and get that repeating the same shit again and again is a drag, the delivery is so important. I'm not sure how a business can get by in Pasadena, rents what they are, without making customers feel welcome and like service is a priority for you. So as delicious as the drink was I'll just head over to Robeks where they employees greet me and make my drink in about 2 minutes. read more

2019 weight loss goals are going to be met here! As I was searching for a healthy light lunch, I saw an add on Yelp that recommended this lovely place. It was super close to my job so I was able to walk there. This Cafe is located in the Equinox gym right in the front. You do not need a gym membership to go to the cafe! The cafe does have 2 tables if you would like to dine in and if you're in a rush you may want to call your order ahead. So I've been addicted to Acai for a few months now but wanted to switch it up so I ordered the Pitaya Bowl with strawberry and banana. I had to wait about 10 minutes for my bowl. While I was waiting I was offered free samples of their popular mint chip smoothie (delicious by the way) and I browsed their fridge of premade drinks and snacks. My bowl was blended and prepared fresh and absolutely hit the spot. I was also able to get a discount on the bowl since I work in the area. I can't wait to go back! read more

After a great workout at Hot 8 Yoga, I decided to take a quick walk to Beaming Organic in the Paseo (inside Equinox) for an Acai Bowl. It was so delicious! I love acai bowls and I prefer gooey, liquid consistency over icy ones. Beaming Organic does it the way I like, and their fruits were very fresh! Although it wasn't cheap, it was good and I'd definitely order again. If you're looking for something healthy and refreshing, and if you're in the Pasadena area, don't be afraid to stop by! You don't need a membership to Equinox. Once you walk in, it's on the left side of the entrance area! I'm not sure how their other items taste, but I've only heard good things about them. I am obsessed with the smoothies! Yes, they taste "healthy" but they are tasty! I really like the rockstar and it's rad that you have the option to make your smoothie low glycemic (for$1.50) if it isn't already. I've also had their acai bowl, and while I liked it, I think the consistency could be a little improved by making it slightly less watery. The beaming cookie is also really good - soft and chewy and not too sweet. Things are definitely on the pricey side but that's to be expected, considering that it's connected to an Equinox. I get a smoothie only if I'm feeling good and had a good workout to treat myself, haha. It's inside the equinox gym and parking was validated if you park in the marengo lot and walk across the rooftop bridge. They have a variety of refrigerated juices here for cleansing and vitality shots which I have tried, but the employee told me that rockstar on the go was pretty popular which contains spirulina. They also have a pantry that sells protein powders and granola etc. I purchased the superfood protein powder and asked for a sample of it to make sure it didn't taste funny. It was actually pretty good with 11 protein per serving. I ordered a green bowl with paleo toppings because I wanted to minimize my sugar. It's pretty tasty and not too sweet. Toppings included almonds, cashew, cacao nibs. Coconut shaving, hemp seeds, bee pollen, seasonal berries and local honey drizzle. I will definitely come back. Favorite and the best açaí bowl. I couldn't find any where has low GI low sugar and super foods acai bowl. A lot of place use apple juice or lots of banana as base, which is too much sugar for me. The Pasadena location is not as good as the other ones. I always eat their delicious and healthy chocolate chip cookies, but at this location all of them were doused in excess maple syrup and the texture was so sticky and the shape was almost melting and falling apart. The Acai bowl was pretty small. I watched them make it and its amusing how they call it "Protein Acai bowl" when all they add is just 1 small Table spoon of protein.
