(The work site was accessible from the alley so we we didn't need to be home for him to review it). A week later, I texted and asked if he'd been by, and if he had any questions. He sent a bid, which was lower than others and we booked him for the work. On the day of, Joe announced that he was charging us twice as much because he didn't know there was any demo/paver removal involved- which he would know if he'd looked at the site before bidding the project. We were frustrated but agreed because the timing was critical for the next phase of our project. The bid was for 8" deep, with rebar. I came out when he was 1/3 of the way into the pour to discover Joe was pouring 2"-6" deep, with no rebar. When I questioned him, he flatly lied and said it was 8" depth until I offered to get a measuring tape, at which point he admitted it wasn't. He then tried to pour using our uneven pavers as the form. When confronted he noted he'd use an even edge- we afterward discovered he used lumber from our property for framing the pour. There are so many more issues, I wont outline them all. The end result cost twice as much as originally bid, and may need to be jackhammered out so that it can be poured correctly.

We are not wealthy and this project was something we worked hard to be able to do in time for summer 2021. Unfortunately, I had to engage in mediation through the Oregon Construction Contractors Board (CCB) in order to address suboptimal workmanship, terrible project management, and an attempt to convince me that I received a product that I did not receive, created a lack of trust in the company. We are fearful that the reinforced section of the patio where we hoped to install a hot tub would not hold and may cause damage to our property and/or those using the tub. The result of mediation was the refunding of all but $1000 of the contracted price. Below describes the details of my experience with a patio installation done by Eternal Rock Construction, Inc. (1)The project was several weeks late and the day they came to begin spraying the concrete, their machine broke and they sprayed concrete all over our driveway and garage. They left that evening without cleaning up. It was days before a foreman visited our property despite our calling the company. (2) We were left with a partially complete patio for 5 days and only after a number of emails and phone conversations with members of the team did we eventually get a manager to send a crew to complete our project. To date there remain damages to our property that have not been repaired - latch on fence door, damage to a fence door. (3) The contract states that a patio will be installed using a sand finish. We certainly do not have a sand-washed concrete patio. The concrete is streaked gray, discolored, pock-marked, and with lines running through it. It looks nothing like the photos on your website, nor does it meet the description of sand finish. When I inquired with one of the on-site team members about my concerns related to the color and the finish, he stated "they must be using a different color sand concrete" and that the patio finish will "look better when it dries". This is not the case. (4) There is no moisture barrier installed between the concrete patio and home foundation in order to protect our wood siding from rotting over time. This is incredibly concerning to me and an indication of shoddy workmanship and a disregard for hardworking homeowners who are attempting to improve - not devalue/damage - their property value. (5) The sloping of the patio is extreme. When I spoke with the owner about the slope of the patio, he assured me this was necessary for water drainage but after conferring with another professional, I learned the grade of slope is far more than is necessary. We are hard-working folks who felt shafted by this company. I do not recommend them.

And if you don't want to do it, LET ME KNOW! After a month of having my texts ignored, we gave up on him and contracted with the city to do the repair.

It was next to impossible to get a company out to our property at that time to build the wall, with different companies giving me a variety of excuses. And, then, I called Allison Concrete. Sergio came out and gave me a very reasonable bid and started the work in a timely fashion. We didn't have to wait 3 - 6 months as was the case with more than one company. This year, we had an immediate, and very urgent need, to have a rock retaining wall built due to a failure in the fall by another company. We, again, thought of Allison Concrete in hopes that they could correct the failed wall and my wife's broken heart! Sergio came out "same day" to assess the disaster and see if he could remedy the situation out front. We received Sergio's extremely reasonable bid within 48 hours and quickly hired him to get the job done. Much to our surprise, Sergio put us on his schedule the following week. Worked with AG on a multipart/day project where he and his team expanded a slope, built a retaining…read morewall around that slope, carved out a section for gravel + wood stairs, and then backfilled the top with 1/4 clean crush gravel for a low maintenance finish. I added descriptions for each picture but you can tell there was a lot of care and detail that went into leveling out the area, digging out the soil, moving it to the wall area, and getting that pretty square corner out of these curved blocks! The right side of the stairs (looking at it) is sloped and supported by the dirt that's also supporting the retaining wall. The left side is a sharp dirt edge which we left like that with a bit of a gap for a future fence, so no point smoothing it out. Very communicative, happy to make adjustments, double checked that everything was well explained before working on it, and reasonably priced. They got this job done in no time and made some intense work look easy, highly recommend.
