Great Food, large variety to choose from I had the chili and a friend of mine had a sandwich. Very cozy place outside seating.

Wonderful Chai! Local ingredients, yummy gluten free options, everything made in house. Best spot in Covelo.

The food was ok ... I did appreciate that when I left my napkin on the dining table ... my napkin turned black with the design of the surface ! The service was also a disaster .. the menu had been printed and foliated ... but you barely could see through the plastic as it was greasy, black, sticky and nasty ... The counter had also a white board where the waitress .. or a 4 year old child tried to write the menu with a sharpie ! ... This place is a filthy hole ... AVOID ! ... or go at your own risks !

The rest of the menu is a bit shaky and have been a bit disappointed when I have strayed from my standby cheese burger and fries or onion rings. That said they do a pretty decent greasy spoon style breakfast and it not the expensive either. The owner Mike is very friendly and I would encourage all to stop in and say hi. All in all its a good place to get a burger and fries but done expect avocado or and kind of shi-shiness with that.

This was my first time to Shelter Cove, and Black Sands Bistro was my first place to try food at. I wasn't expecting much. But I must say, we were very pleasantly surprised! I got a cheeseburger for $17 and being that it was a tourist town, expected a small, generic McDonald's type hamburger. But it was good sized, not preformed patties, with 3 slices of tomato and generous helping of lettuce and it was juicy and very good. They gave a nice selection of baked desserts (all $5) and they are large servings and not the generic baked items you find in every other aery in California. We got the German Chocolate Cake and it was quite good. I got coffee, too and it was better than average. While not cheap, it did seem to be one of the less expensive options. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. If we go back to Shelter Cove, this will be the place we always go to.
