We went here for a late lunch (about 3:30) today. Have been here before and have always enjoyed it. Food is great, atmosphere was quiet and pleasant today. Server was ok, the reason for 4 stars instead of 5. One thing my husband really liked....the lighting. So many times you go to a restaurant and there is a spotlight hanging over your table! Here they have frosted lightbulbs, which was very easy on the eyes! The bread & butter gets 5 stars though! Yum! read more

My sister and I ate lunch there on Monday. I had an excellent pasta- florentine ravioli with chicken and my sis had the warm salad with goat cheese, cranberrys . Both great! Service good too. Small place but cozy!! Always eat there when I'm in town. read more

Came here for my birthday. I got the Alfredo pasta. It literally tasted like nothing. Had no flavor. So I asked the server I'd she would recommend anything. She said the chicken and brocolli. I ordered that and it was fried chicken strips and that too had no flavor. I didn't want to complain again so I just picked at the chicken and broccoli. read more

One of my favorite restaurants in Bismarck. It's a smaller restaurant with a chill vibe. All the pasta items I've had are fantastic. The soup is always delicious (chicken wild rice is my go to). My boyfriend had one of the pizzas made into a calzone last time which was awesome! You get a pretty decent amount of food, especially the pasta items. They also have the best moscato I've ever had! Never had a problem with the service. Definitely recommend this place. read more

Tomato basil soup is delicious. Sweet potato fries are large and worth the upgrade. The normal fries are similar to McDonald's fries but with a little of the skins still on. Salads before meal come with a lot of dressing. Sante fe chicken was a great chicken breast, flavorful and not dry. 'Solid salad' (the one with chicken). Burger is okay. Iced teas are huge. Chicken buffalo wrap doesn't have enough stuffing and too much tortilla. Service is nice but waaayyy to slow (8 people in restaurant during our stay) and close to an hour wait for food. As a repot to Bismarck for a number of months I am trying all of the "Better" and recommended restaurants. I am very pleased with the food, service, and ambiance. The place is usually full, at least the times I have come, though after ordering the food it arrives in a reasonable time. I have been there 3 times. Twice for the Pasta Primevera and once to try the pizza. I am a pizza snob. Even though I don't believe the Italians made it this far west the Pizza is better than most in this town. These meals all appeared prepped in the kitchen. Not ordered from a food supply store and reheated. I'm not a consumer of spirits but it appears they have a very large selection of microbrew. Keep up the good work. I expect I will be returning many more times until I return back home. read more

I went here just because of the rating and reviews on Yelp and I was pleasantly surprised that I had never heard of this place before. Great atmosphere and service. There was plenty of tempting food choices to choose from and I am looking forward to going again to try something else. Maybe next time I will try to make it an Adult only trip! :) read more

This has been a favorite place of mine since Randy! I love the Tomato Basil soup, and their stuffed pastas and baked pastas are the best!

There's a lot of buzz about this place so I figured we'd try it out. It wasn't great but wasn't horrible either. The food is decent but nothing special. The meatballs are huge but leave you wishing for just a little more flavor. Tried the buffalo chicken wrap as well but it was nothing to write home about. I was disappointed in the service and environment though. I ordered a Shiner Bock and when the bottle came it was warm, nothing like getting ready to enjoy a beer after a long hot day and realizing it's warm. Speaking of the heat, granted it was a pretty hot day but it was also very warm inside the restaurant. It'd be understandable but then the tables are packed so close together that I was squished between my table and another diners chair back. When the bill came it left me just a little more disappointed about what I was paying for what I relieved. Maybe removing a table or two would alleviate all of the above and make it a little easier on the servers as well. Overall, this place has the ability to be cool and very good it just needs to knock off some of the rough edges. read more

I really enjoyed this restaurant and so did my kids. There is a build your own pizza option where the kids actually get to assemble their pizza at the table. That was a big hit. Our waitress was pretty knowledgeable about their selection of beer and recommended a great cider. She had a few recommendations for my daughter who is a vegetarian. read more

The front desk clerk at our hotel told us Walrus was "amazing," so between that and reviews here, we decided we had to give this a try. We were not disappointed. The wild rice soup was delicious. I am in town on buisness and was told this was a great place for lunch. Well......i hate to say this but this place sucked . I had the chicken fettuchini alfredo and i got a big black hair in it. The waitress didnt come back by so i couldnt tell her about the problem. I left the food there, didnt pay for it and just left. I wonder how long it was before she even noticed i was gone. One of our favorite places for a casual dinner date. The spinach artichoke dip is delicious. Their pizzas are typically very good as well. I do think the pasta dishes are hit or miss. One dish will be very good and the next will be just ok. Great selection of beer that changes seasonally. My favorite part of any meal at The Walrus are the giant pieces of roasted garlic found in various dishes. The garlic is always sweet and melts in your mouth! read more

Tonight we decided to go out to eat and not cook at home since it was over 90 degrees outside. We made a big MISTAKE by going to the WALRUS, it felt as hot inside as it did outside, at least outside the breeze was present. Our meals were fine but we just kept complaining about how uncomfortably hot we were, it was not pleasant to say the least. On our ride home we wondered if the air conditioner was broken. I am just disappointed because it is never this hot at the peacock or the toasted frog, Next time we want to go out for a meal when it is hot outside we will just go some place downtown. read more

Went to The Walrus for the first time on Saturday evening with my wife. I will say i was disappointed in my meal. Prior to going, I had checked out the menu and was really excited to have a chance at a great walleye "sammich" as is called at The Walrus. When it came i was extremely disappointed. It looked like 2 fish sticks on a semi smashed hot dog bun that was semi toasted. The breading was thicker than the actual pieces of 6" long x 3/4" wide "fish sticks"......... all this for $ 11.99. My wife said i should not say I had better fish at fast food take out, but honesty I have or even fish tacos from Paradisio - which they were unreal great. I will say the almosphere was pretty good and my wifes dinner was excellent.........but if you want a good fish sandwich, it's not here. DISGUSTING. Heard good things about this place from friends, decided to try it out, what a waste of time. Establishment was filthy, bathrooms were absolutely horrifying, there was literally poop all over the toilet... Made me gag. I ordered a basic turkey sandwich with a salad, how could you screw that up right?!? Wrong, bread was crap, lettuce was so wilted and brown, asked for mustard on my sandwich, got none.. Carrots on the salad were so old they were white.. Croutons melted in your mouth. WTF?!? As a server myself, I would have never brought this food to anyone. Manager never made an appearance to try and better the situation, it was just embarrassing on their behalf. Will never return nor recommend this place to anyone. P.s. They say they are known for their pizza, it's a lie, they have no idea what good food is, doughy crust and no flavor at all.. Extremely disappointing to say the least :( GROSS. read more
