I was underwhelmed. I will say that. There was nothing special about this place or anything that knocked me off my feet. It was basic "upscale" dinner. The location was on the busy part of King Street. I will say if you have bad knees you might want to request a table downstairs because there were two flights of stairs to go up to be seated. I had the salmon with some honey mustard type glaze. It was alright. They gave you a scoop of mashed potatoes and like 4 pieces of asparagus. The NY strip was again decent and came with the same scoop of mashed potatoes and 4 pieces of asparagus. The pomegranate margarita was watered down and not good. Wife ordered Etouffee, I asked the waitress between smothered catfish w the same etoufee covering it or the trout and she said catifish. Once I realized it was literally the same thing, I asked to change (within 2 minutes) she said was already being cooked (obviously a lie because etoufee is made ahead of time) Food came out and was literally the same thing in two plates. I really enjoyed this restaurant! We came to celebrate our engagement and we had a nice table by the window. At first they sat us by a huge family which was very awkward because they were so close and we wanted a more intimate dinner. We alerted the staff and they moved us right away. We appreciated that. The restaurant was a bit tight, but it was also dinner time on a Saturday night and packed! They have seating upstairs as well. The service is amazing, everyone is so friendly and attentive. The manager stopped by our table many times throughout the night to check on us and refill our wine glasses. We ordered the scallops as an appetizer and the Asian style ribs too! Omg, both were delicious, but the ribs were fall off the bone! I ordered the pecan crusted halibut which was part of their specials for the week. It was pretty good. I wasn't a fan of the pecan crust, I think it would have been much better with less of the breading. It also lacked flavor. My fiancé had the sesame crusted salmon. He enjoyed his food but also said the crust was a bit much. We shared the raspberry sorbet for dessert and it was the perfect finish to a great meal. read more

This was my second time at The Warehouse for brunch. Both times were completely different experiences. The first time the waiter was great and the crab cake eggs Benedict was delicious. Highly recommend! The outdoor seating is absolutely beautiful regardless the time of year since they have heaters for the winter! The second time the service was lacking a bit. Our waitress continued to forget to bring our drinks, condiments, and the food was colder than room temperature. The French donuts were very dried out and hard so they weren't enjoyable. Everyone else enjoyed their food though. The corn beef hash Benedict's were different but good! The complimentary sparkling wine with the brunch is a great added bonus. read more

First time here and we loved it! The ambiance was real nice and intimate. The food was 10/10. Rosa our waitress was awesome!! We got the calamari and charbroiled oysters as an appetizer. Both great...now the oysters weren't like Dragos (my New Orleans ppl know) but they were close! We got the Trout Orleans and the New Orleans Smothered Catfish. The Trout entree was small and came with 2 pieces of asparagus and a little bit of potatoes. The Catfish entree was more than enough with two big pieces of catfish. We had the chocolate cake for dessert which was Very VERY rich and dense and small like a small slice of cheesecake. I had a celebratory dinner at 8:15pm last evening. My first visit, parking in Ole Town is a challenge so plan accordingly to find it and get to your reservation on time. There is plenty of parking garages where you pay and if you're lucky street parking. The ambiance is very nice, white table clothes, cozy sitting and special service. I had such a great time that I didn't take a picture nor get the waiters name. He's an older gentleman with an accent! He was very attentive and took care of us. The food was delicious!!! We began with starters including the gator bites, calamari and shrimp/crawfish beignets! So good!! I had the 3 course meal featuring broiled branzino with fried oysters!! OMG, my taste buds were happy! My friends had the surf and turf, stuffed fried catfish, shrimp and crawfish etouffee , and rockfish. We had a variety of cocktails, lemon martini, dirty martini and cosmopolitan along with ginger ale and fresh water. We had a lovely time fellowshippinh and divulging in this delicious meal. Alexandria on the weekends is vibrant and a whole vibe, the warehouse restaurant is an upscale restaurant in the heart of Alexandria just a short walk to the pier with a scenic view of the water. The restaurant is quaint with black and white decor. The menu is mainly surf and turf choices and the drinks hit the spot. The lemon drop martini was delish I finished it in 3 gulps. Fortunately the bread kept it from going to my head. I had the catfish dinner. The boneless fillets were crispy and flavorful and filling. The conversation was great courtesy of my group of good girlfriends and our waiter was prompt and attentive. The menu is pricey but surprisingly after an entree, drink, and tasty dessert ( warm sweet bread pudding) and gratuity my bill was less than 60 bucks. Nice! read more

If you don't get the she-crab soup and someone else does, you will regret it and wish you had. I don't care what you order. The she-crab soup is a must! Just right mixture of sauce with a tiny hint of spiciness. Not too much sauce so you can't enjoy the delicious crab! You won't find better anywhere else. Also love the Trout Orleans. Came here for Sunday brunch without a reservation. Was fortunate we were early enough so they were able to accommodate despite having what looked like a packed afternoon booking. Menu was fun, you get to choose either a strawberry mimosa or strawberry & cream with your entree. My party enjoyed the full experience, from the Eggs Hussarde (eggs benedict New Orleans Style), New Orleans French toast, smoked salmon eggs benedict, etc. Good table service and enjoyed the ambiance thoroughly. Highly recommend -Gator bites are chewy but overall still good I got the parchment with shellfish and the scallops and lobsters was so good! This is still a great spot to dine; however, my dinner was less then awesome this time around. We had a group of 15 dine, and four of us had a lobster dish. My dinner was the seafood imperial stuffed lobster and the lobster was so mushy that I could not eat it...and I absolutely love lobster! The vegetables were wonderful. If what I think happened yesterday really happened yesterday, then this place is NOT "A-OK." My best friend celebrated her 30th birthday here. It was a group of 10 of us. We expected to have gratuity automatically added because we were a large group, but I was really surprised that the waiter hand wrote our tip amount AND it was not the standard of 18%... instead it was 21%. I usually give 20% and was really surprised that our tip listed was 21%. A huge part of me believes the waiter did this because we were a large group of BLACK people. I honestly do not believe my white counterparts would receive their bill with a handwritten 21% tip amount. I have NEVER experienced this at a restaurant and will not be returning due to the feeling it left me with... I'm giving it 3 stars because service was prompt, my food was good (grilled chicken sandwich), and my dessert was delicious (coconut tres leches cake). But I would not recommend it. I could have sworn that I previously posted a review, but apparently not. This is an excellent restaurant in Old Alexandria. Hosts and hostesses are terrific and will do their best to fit you in if you don't have a reservation. I have never felt discriminated against here for being a solo diner. The service staff is wonderful: friendly, helpful, and courteous. Although, not always as quick as it seems they could be. They have a decent list of wines by the glass at reasonable prices. Pre-dinner cocktails are well-made. The food is excellent. Although, I feel compelled to mention that my most recent steak was not as good as those during previous visits. It was cooked to the temperature I ordered (medium) but not the quality of previous visits. Perhaps this was a one off, but I'm concerned they are serving lower quality cuts instead of raising prices. Nonetheless, I recommend the Warehouse if you are looking for something other than pub fare, seafood, or Italian in Old Alexandria. read more

Great service! Everyone we chatted with was friendly and helpful in recommending food. The food itself I would give a 3.8 rating. Oysters: delicious, Pork: delicious, Steak: basic, and the sides that came with both proteins were also basic. The sides and steak were not bad at all, just nothing special. The ambiance was very cool, but at one point it did get very hot when it became more crowded. I think they realized it pretty quickly though, because it was only 15 minutes of being slightly toasty. I miss NOLA so much. I figure this is as good as it's gonna get. The Warehouse has such a cute little vibe, the service was efficient, and I enjoyed the ambiance. The tables were spread far apart where I was seated indoors, but the outdoor seating is very close to folks walking past on the sidewalk-- like they're basically up in your plate. Glad we sat inside though for that reason. I got the shrimp and crawfish étouffée. Went here to celebrate my niece's birthday with a large party. I liked that they had no issue accommodating a large party without the need to do "private dining". This was just family getting together and eating so I appreciate the restaurant for accommodating a table of 14 with no problems. The service was amazing. We had great servers, the host was nice as well. I just had two things that could have helped the experience: The chef who cooked the steaks didn't know how to prepare it to the right temperature. The table had three total filet mignon orders, two medium and one medium well. The two medium steaks were brought out medium well and the medium-well was well done. We all sent them back and patiently waited for the new steak. This time, all steaks were undercooked. We just dealt with it instead of sending it back again. The two mediums ended up being medium rare (me being pregnant, I shouldn't have anything rare) and the medium-well ended up being medium. The cook just couldn't get the steak temps right. I would like to see improvement there. Another thing, like some other restaurants, they could not separate the check. I came with cash, prepared but this made things complicated for the party of 14 (including kids). It would have been easier on the table AND the servers to just do separate checks. It took so long to get everything together and even the servers were swiping cards for the wrong amounts. Just saying, it wouldn't hurt to offer the option of separating checks to large parties to avoid confusion and get us out faster. read more

I've been a loyal customer of The Warehouse for many years. Yesterday I went with a large party of about 15 to celebrate a birthday. Reservations were made in advance. At the start of our dinner the waiter was very impatient, rushing us to place our order before we even received our apps. About 1.5 hours into our dinner the waiter brought to go containers to our table, while we were still eating. We noticed more wait staff circling our table as if to let us know it was time to go. The most upsetting part of our evening was the waiter insisting we leave b/c they had other customers waiting for a table. We were in the middle of our drinks when he brought us styrofoam cups to take our drinks with us. Never mind this is ILLEGAL in the state of Va but also humiliating to walk out of the restaurant after spending close to $1000.00 with our drinks. I will never patronize this establishment and I will be sure to share my experience with others. I only left 1 star b/c I had to in order to post this review. read more

It has been many months since we've been here. We went today and it just was not the same. The gumbo had more of a tomato base than an actual roux. The beignets were not actually beignets. It was fried cornmeal with a shrimp in it a baby shrimp. It's not authentic Louisiana food. The box mix of beignets is better. The fried catfish, it wasn't the thin cut fried catfish of Louisiana it was different. Did they change chefs? Made a reservation here for my friend's birthday. We got the fritters appetizer which was very yummy. My friend got the steak and I got the crab cakes both were delicious and plated nicely. My favorite part of the experience was our server. This young gentleman was very happy, gave great recommendations and ended up singing happy birthday to my friend. The sign outside says "Alexandria's finest dining". You enter and are immediately greeted with over a hundred caricature drawings plastered on the wall. Not only did they seem out of place, many of them weren't even good. It was weird and took away from the romantic vibe we were looking for. My husband ordered the NY strip (medium rare) with Cajun fried shrimp. I got the scallops appetizer with a side of sautéed mushrooms. I wish we had taken a picture of the steak.... We knew even before we tried it that it wasn't good. It was what I imagine steak from IHOP looks and tastes like. Overcooked, under seasoned, and questionable quality. It was just downhill from there. It came with mashed potatoes (dry and flavorless) and asparagus (literally 3 stalks). My scallops were actually good, but I've made better mushrooms from a can. I will say the service was great and they tried very hard to correct things (including an apology from a manager and comping the steak). Unfortunately we will not be returning. read more
