This was the worst furniture-buying experience I've ever had. My mother and I purchased more than $6,000 worth of furniture. During the purchase, two employees each asked me for about $65 for their services, and I also gave approximately $1,700 in cash that never appeared on my receipt. There were so many items that I couldn't calculate the total myself, and I was told the cash would later be applied to the credit account I opened through their financing partner. I was also told I couldn't use my Bank of America credit card. Later, I discovered that the cash payment was not listed on my receipt and had not been credited to my financing account. I contacted the store many times, but I was told they could not locate the funds. To make matters worse, they delivered an old, dirty bed to my home. When I complained, I was charged another $100 for a redelivery. The delivery also left a hole in my house. When I called customer service, my experiences varied. Some employees were polite but said they couldn't help. Others hung up on me, and I even had people laugh at me while I was trying to explain what happened. I don't remember the exact date of the purchase because it happened years ago. I initially paid the balance down to around $600, but within a couple of months I ended up paying about $2,000, including more than $1,400 in interest. Looking back, I wish I had been more knowledgeable and better at understanding the paperwork. I feel like my elderly mother and I were taken advantage of. I have a mental impairment, and I worked very hard to earn that money. At the time, I worked as a manicurist and a caretaker. I often dealt with difficult working conditions and harassment, but I still did my best to save for those purchases. I'm sharing my experience because it still affects me today. If anyone has advice or has gone through something similar, I would truly appreciate hearing from you.

They had no live person to contact, so I had to drive back to the store to cancel the order. The sales person acted rude to me as if it were my fault, even though he was the one that recommended it to me and failed to mention that it had a charger inside the couch. I then went back and ordered two more pieces of furniture: a couch and a chair. The couch was delivered the following week, and as the movers brough it up the stairs, they damaged the underside. The chair, however was supposed to be here within 4-6 weeks. That was a month ago. The salesperson (who will sporadically respond to my text messages) told me last week that it will be another 7 weeks. I checked in a few days ago and still haven't received a response. And if I call, I can't reach anyone in person. The only person who has actually provided good customer service from this location is the ACIMA team.

The Research: Mike was great. Very helpful. He steered me to the correct configuration for our specific needs. The Purchase: Again, they went out of their way to help during the order process. Even though the web site is very intuitive, they talked me through every screen (without my asking), suggested things not to forget, and told me things I didn't need to worry about. They confirmed I could use my existing bedframe for example. The Receipt: They shipped the order almost immediately. It arrived four days prior to the expected date. From CA to NH in just 7 days (free shipping). They kept me notified the entire time. One of my platforms was damaged in shipment. Marty (from TheWaterbedDoctor.com) gave me an INSTANT credit and he took it upon himself to obtain a refund from the shipping company. This was not something he had to do! Speaking of Marty, we had some confusion on the order and Marty called me personally on the weekend and made sure I was confident that everything was as expected. And it was. I've slept on a hard side waterbed for over 30 years and have had 3 different mattresses during that time. I decided to purchase a mattress with a little more support. I began a search and found the Waterbed Doctor's website. Browsing through the website I discovered they offered a number of different beds and mattresses. They are located locally to where I live so went to their facility. They had a variety of beds on display including a hard side bed. I discussed the number of different options with Mike and Marty and made a decision on the mattress I wanted. They delivered the mattress that afternoon, and what I mean by 'delivered,' they helped me drain and remove my old mattress, install the new liner/mattress and fill it with no extra charge. Took delivery of our new Sterling semi-waveless mattress last week. All components were included as ordered, delivered ON TIME. Installed and completed filling that night, wonderful sleep. I previously slept on a semi-waveless for over 20 yrs, but my new wife had never been on a waterbed, she is now a believer, 3rd night slept entire night without moving! Her lower back pain is much better, so we believe this will help. Marty was our salesman, he was very, very helpful and knowledgeable in selecting just the right mattress for us, no pressure whatsoever, even suggested a lower price model for our circumstance, this is nearly unheard of, but gained our trust completely. We had decided it was time for a new bedroom set, but we had been on a waterbed for more than 30 years. We just didn't care for the hard side furniture. We found a beautiful set but we were wary as to whether it could support a softside waterbed mattress. I made a couple different calls to the Waterbed Doctor with questions, and Mike and Gerry were extremely helpful and insightful with recommendations for the mattress to choose and how to add support to the bed we had chosen. Mike delivered it himself, as we are close by. I have a Watercloud Queen-size 8-inch deep soft-sided waterbed, purchased in 1975. This is my third mattress. Thank you, Marty. Marty sent my mattresses to VA on the East Coast via USPS Priority. My proposal, order, and receipt state a 2-3 week lead time. The price and delivery time were exactly what I was looking for. As of May 15 2026, nearly 8 weeks later, I still have not received my sofa. I have followed up multiple times and have repeatedly been told it would be ready the next day, the next week, or that they were still waiting on, fabric,, inserts, cushions, or stitching. I also physically drove back to the store to get an update after repeated phone calls went unanswered. At the store, an employee told me their phone lines were down and they couldn't take calls on the company line. He gave me his cell phone number to contact him for updates. After several weeks of delays via text messages and repeated calls to check if the company line was working again, I physically drove to the store again. Upon arriving during normal business hours, I see employees in the store(including one who went out and back in the front door), but the door was locked and a sign was posted saying "Sorry we are closed today", and that they will be "back to normal hours" tomorrow. The sign listed a cell phone number to send text messages for status updates. No response to my text message, not even an acknowledgement of receipt. I understand delays can happen, especially with custom furniture, but the lack of a clear completion date after repeated follow-ups is not acceptable for a pre-paid order. I will update this review if the business completes the order or issues a refund.
