Oh my God! I can't believe I have never written a review for The Wax Bar! I've been their loyal customer for years (probably since 2018) and they've always offered outstanding service. I first heard of The Wax Bar from a Yelp Elite who highly recommended them. Before coming here, I had experience so many bad waxing services. From extremely painful sessions, to awkward/uncomfortable poses when waxing (if you've experience this, you know what I am talking about), to second degree burns. I was looking for a wax place that's close to where we live, and one that wouldn't cost an arm and leg. I found the Wax Bar through Yelp and wanted to give them a try. It's really easy to download their application and make an appointment. It was also really easy to make any changes to your appointment. I was able to reschedule with ease and no complications. I was able to receive a reminder email the day beforehand just to make sure that I was going to be able to make my appointment. Their app also has different coupons that you can use for their services and they have a nice punch card on their app so you can end up getting a free service after the 10th visit. They're really close to where we live and it was easy to get to. Parking isn't bad. They do share with all the other businesses that surround them. They also have a sign with their name closer to the street so you can see it if you're driving to them for the first time. The front was nice and the lady that I met was friendly and courteous. I signed in and filled out their first time client info sheet. I had an appointment with Davalyn and she is FANTASTIC!! She's very down to earth and funny as heck! She made my appointment feel comfortable (as comfortable as waxing can get). If you're going to give this place a try, I would highly recommend booking an appointment with her! She has a great technique and for anyone getting a wax, you would highly appreciate how she will remove your hairs. I've been a customer here for over two years and every time I've come in for a service I have been greeted by the friendly upbeat staff and my appointments have always been right on time as scheduled. This particular location has always been neat and clean every time I've come in. The individual rooms are private and comfortable. I've seen Miriam since coming here for the first time and she is just so amazing. She has a way of is making you feel comfortable and at ease. She answers questions and asks for feedback as well to make sure you are happy with the service. This is why I have been a repeat customer here and will continue to come here in the future. Also... booking over the phone or on the app has always been very easy and convenient. Stay away from CICI! !  CiCi, pride can be a double-edged sword - it can provide a sense of self-worth and accomplishment, but in your case excessive pride appeared and displayed arrogance with a refusal to acknowledge your mistake! My experience with CiCi was  absolutely the WORST customer service not to mention ABILITY to do a proper wax! I've been a longtime customer (over 5 years) of The Wax Bar and have always had the most amazing experience UNTIL CiCi. I've visited all locations at one time or another and always received a proper wax that I NEVER needed to look at before I left to ensure the Specialist did the job right because it always had been UNTIL CiCi. I scheduled an appointment with Jennifer but got a text that there was a scheduling issue so I was changed to CiCi. The appointment was for a lower abdomen wax completed on Friday, 01/03/2025.  At my appointment we had great conversation and I left. Later that evening I realized CiCi missed a strip of hair - she waxed above AND below leaving a full strip of hair in-between. Initially I was disappointed because of the inconvenience of having to make time to go back, but understood mistakes happen. I checked her schedule to see when she was available so I could have her correct it. She didn't have any availability for a few days until Tuesday, 01/07/2025 so I booked an appointment for 9:15 in the morning - today.  This morning, I had a 7:30 AM appointment with my son's school that ran late so I was late to my appointment.  When I walked in I was actually expecting to have to reschedule, but the receptionist was kind and CiCi appeared then rightfully so, lectured me for being late yet thankfully said she would still see me.  I said I understood and explained why I was back so soon.  I told her I just need the one strip she missed to be taken off.  AND THIS IS WHERE HER HORRIBLE ATTITUDE BEGAN!  She absolutely refused to accept responsibility that SHE would miss anything! BEFORE even seeing what she missed as we were WALKING to the room, she ACCUSED ME of not lowering my pants enough because she said "I WILL MISS SOMETHING I CANNOT SEE."  She repeated that several times to me like I was a child that didn't hear her the first time.  I tried interrupting her to explain she waxed above AND below the area so it was NOT because I did not lower my pants enough it was because SHE missed it.  When she looked and saw SHE DID IN FACT MISS THE STRIP she then LECTURED ME ABOUT HOW IT IS MY RESPONSIBILITY TO LOOK at the area to make sure nothing was missed.  She talked nonstop in the most condescending manner. I TRIED SEVERAL times to talk over her and explain I have NEVER had to look over ANY work a wax specialist has done EVER because, until her, I HAVE NEVER had an issue.  At this point she is continuously lecturing me about the importance of looking over all areas all the time, not just the abdomen, the lip, etc - again reiterating it must be looked over.  So for any future customer of CiCi's from her own mouth - YOU as a customer are responsible for looking over HER work to make SURE SHE DOES IT RIGHT!  Then she proceeded to tell me she was NOT going to charge me??  To correct her mistake??  To me it was common sense, and I let her know I did not plan on paying her to fix what she missed??  I even asked her to stop speaking to me because she was really upsetting me and she did NOT stop!  Even as I was leaving The Wax Bar!  THIS IS ABSOLUTLY THE MOST HORRIBLE & DISAPPOINTING EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD AT THE WAX BAR!  I consider myself a patient person, but even the most patient people have their limits. I have never taken the time to write a review such as this, but feel it is warranted!  Likewise, shame on me for not reviewing how AMAZING JENNIFER, DAVALYN, & CHARLOTTE (who has moved) at the Lockhill Selma location are!  Huge shout out to JENNIFER & DAVALYN,  who have ALWAYS surpassed customer service with an ability to wax so well that I have NEVER had to look over their work to confirm they did a proper job because they ARE ALWAYS ON POINT! read more

This place is a disaster. The Lockhill Selma location. Don't go on a Saturday because it is total chaos. No one knows when their appointment is and there is no reception so it is just random hoping to catch an apathetic waxer when they are in full panic at the front desk. They don't know their customers and can't remember you the next time even though they had a conversation with you. First visit was with Charlotte. She has been there for years and is AMAZING! Not only great at waxing and knows her stuff, but is the kindest and most put together one of the bunch. The place would be shuddered if it were not for Charlotte! Second visit, she was out of town. The person I got did an average job. No complaints. The inner bottom of my brows were a bit "teardrop" shaped which I don't love, but not an issue. It kinda WAS an issue that she could not understand what I was telling her when I was asking her to adjust it. If you have been doing this for 20 years as she claimed, this should not be hard to understand. Maybe when you really don't WANT to fix it, then we see. Still...I ended up having to go back to that person again because Charlotte was booked all week. But still...was ok with it. I sat in the waiting room for 40 minutes. She left me there for 40 minutes giggling and laughing with her previous client. I KNEW she was DONE. CHARLOTTE KNEW she was done. Charlotte kept apologizing to me for it and said she would make it up to me. Seriously. THIS is the type of person. Who is so ignorant of their coworkers that they could care less that they have to make excuses for you when you are clearly screwing off? Sadly when I finally had to leave without service I had to tell Charlotte I would not be back. I actually felt bad. She is that nice. But until this place wants to grow up and act like a professional business...they can do without my money every two weeks. read more

Let me start off by saying that any place that gives you a "shot" of any liquor you want right before you get your service is a winner in my book. I first experienced the wax bar through a yelp elite event but became a regular fan of them because of their nostril waxing. It takes less than 5 minutes and it is quick, painless, and makes breathing a little easier. Just remember that they can accept walk ins but it is highly recommended to schedule an appointment because they do get busy. For the most part, all of the locations are pretty standard in their appearance. I have been going to the wax bar for years now. With all this covid going on, I understand the fear some of us may have. As an RN, the facility sanitation is on point. Screening process and 15-30 minute cleaning in between clients. Masks worn at all times. I wait in my car until the office called. Once in office, screening process is done then straight to the restroom to wash hands. At that time, I go to into room at this time my waxer Davalyn then goes to sanitize the restroom while I prepare myself in wax room. Davalyn then comes into wax room sanitizes hands then gloves up and works on me.. I see better cleanliness here at the wax bar than I do at restaurants and grocery stores. I've been going to Wax Bar for several years now and can say I have now been to all 3 locations. Today I went to the Lockhill-Selma location and was so surprised of how spa like and quaint it was. Main is very eclectic and Judson is fun and entertaining with all the reading material everywhere. I love them all, but I think I'm going to start continuing going to Lockhill-Selma. Been going here for years. When they re-opened when allowed (CoViD), I was impressed with their sanitation process. They were always clean before, but since the pandemic, super cautious. You stay in the car until called upon (no waiting in waiting room), they sanitize the door handles after you enter, waxer is masked during the waxing entire process, and several other precautions. I was able to view all available times and book easily via their website and app. I booked an appointment for me and my friend for the next day. The next morning they called me to confirm. We showed up and wow this place is so cozy and friendly. All of the ladies were very welcoming. My waxer was Charlotte. She walked me around the corner and they had a tiny bar with shots to ease your nerves. It helps! I can't even say enough good things about how at ease she made me feel. I'm not a pro waxer but it also isn't my first wax. She held great conversation and totally distracted me from what we were doing. She gave me some tips to make waxing easier in the future. This is my second time at The Wax Bar, yet my first time at this location. I called before I arrived to make sure they could take me as a walk-in. Fifteen minutes later, I walked-in! Although a receptionist wasn't present, I knew the drill and signed-in. Less than five minutes later, I was horizontal and ready for my full face wax. Charlotte was super friendly and welcoming.
