I broke up all the reasons I think Therapy for Women is amazing below. The values: This practice is based on mutual trust. You're therapist will happily share bits of their own life experiences. This always makes me feel less alone in what I am experiencing. Additionally, the open conversations make sessions comfortable/feel less like a doctors appointment. Therapy for Women also makes a point to let you know that you can switch therapists at anytime. Besides therapy won't be effective if you aren't comfortable with who you are talking too. In the office: The atmosphere is calming and quiet. Therapists have white noise machines at their door so your conversations will never be heard by someone passing by. If you are finding it hard to share something most therapists have art supplies, cards, fidget toys or board games that you are able to play during the session. The sessions are flexible and can be tailored to what you need. This is especially great for people like me with ADHD. The online portal: This might not be something many people think is important but the online portal is so simple. The rules, expectations, and prices for the practice are shared openly once you become a client so there is transparency. If you are ever confused about something or wondering about your last bill it is easy to look up past records and chat with your therapist directly. Price: Therapy for Women does not accept insurance (this is my understanding/ I'm not sure if there are specific exceptions). Sessions are relatively expensive since insurance doesn't cover the cost. However, Jen is a therapist I could stick with for years and I feel it is completely worth the extra cost. The instructor ( Joanna) created instruction manual's for everyone in the class. The class included Reiki history, and Reiki practice exercise and everything that you would need to practice Reiki for yourself and others. The instructor was always available for any question that I had even outside of the class. I have a child with Autism and aggression, my family and I were under a lot of stress. I was amazed how much Joanna cared about my family and atoned my autistic son to Reiki 1. Once my son was atoned he no longer hit and we were able to calm him down a lot better. Everyday my son and I practice Reiki and this has been such a healing experience for myself and my family.

I recently completed Level II Cognitive-Behavior Therapy (CBT) training after completing Level I…read moretraining last November. The training/workshops are an excellent introduction to CBT. The training helped me realize that CBT is an effective psychotherapy that has more depth and nuances than a 'manual-based' psychotherapy, as CBT is often referred to. When I read Dr. Aaron Beck's book, Cognitive Therapy of Depression I said that the book should be required reading for all graduate counseling programs. After completing the trainings I am sorry I did not begin training in CBT while in graduate school or immediately after graduating (as one of my professors urged me to do). The training is thorough and informative. The training has helped me help my patients while also helping me improve my self as a psychotherapist. As I mentioned, the curriculum is excellent. But I could not write a review without mentioning how knowledgeable, professional and passionate the instructors are. The workshops are a great introduction to CBT. I realized to become proficient as a CBT therapist I would need additional training/supervision. I look forward to beginning supervision in the Beck Institute supervision program this spring and attending the workshop on CBT and PTSD this Fall. I am glad that I made the investment in time and money to attend the CBT workshops at the Beck Institute. I am sure it will pay dividends for my patients and my practice in the future.
