    Mushroom Soup
    Linda I.

Note that this review is for dinner service outside! Does not reflect indoor ambiance. We love a good outdoor meal in the summertime in Ann Arbor! West End's set up was nice, with several tables and an outdoor "bar" section. We tried: - Seafood Strudel appetizer. Generous chunks of shrimp and scallop in a creamy savory sauce wrapped up in flaky dough! Pretty tasty - Lobster Tail entree, which came with wild rice and asparagus. Decadently dressed in a thick, creamy sauce as well. - Smoked Duck entree, which came with mashed potato and asparagus. Great cherry and port wine reduction. Both entrees came with the choice of a soup or salad. Salad dressing options sounded really nice, but ended up going for the Mushroom soup that day! Very tasty. I also enjoyed a Mezcal Margarita. Overall, the food is pretty yummy! I would have like a little more of the veggie side - the serving side was essentially like 1.5 asparagus stalks cut up. Complimentary bread and butter.

This is an upscale restaurant with great ambiance and service. I expected it to be busier on a Thursday evening but was able to make an appointment with just 1.5 hrs notice. The food is very good and tasty. It's on the pricier side but worth it. The portions are on the smaller end but were just right for people who aren't really foodies. For big eaters, I can see them being disappointed. The swordfish and salmon were fresh and delicious. The hamburger is tasty but quite pricey at $28. The salads are fresh and the lobster bisque was savory but didn't really taste like a traditional lobster bisque. Perhaps it's a house recipe ? The dinner menu fits on one page but covers the gamut. They focus on quality and attention to detail and the service was excellent. This is a great restaurant when celebrating an occasion or having business meetings, etc.

We moved to A2 recently so making our rounds of new places. This is one place thus far we do not need to go back to. Service- very good. Our server was attentive and friendly. Drinks- good but SO expensive. $20 for a margarita in Ann Arbor? No thanks. That's more than many places we frequented in Chicago (downtown) where we moved from. Food- meh. Burger char was good but not worth $28. Nothing special about it. The duck and sides were good in flavor but everything on the plate was cold. If I'm paying $42 for a dish I'd expect it to be warm. Environment- stuffy. Decor was cute but it could use a refresh.

I am baffled by the Number good reviews. We came here for dinner to try a new place, hoping to add it to our regular rotation. Was surprised at how expensive it was (~$40-60 entrees) but had high hopes that we'd get what we pay for. Sadly we did not. It was a tired, uninspired meal, the kind we might have been ok with 20-30 years ago. We noticed that between our table and the one next to us, we had 4 different seafood entrees with the same sad sides. You'd think for this price point, they'd put a little more effort into creating sides that are unique to each main. The food: BEIGNETS: the compound butter was tasty and the beignets were almost good but the center was sightly under done and doughy. TUNA POKE $16: they should call it red bell pepper with a little tuna - tiniest bits of tuna mixed with lots of red pepper and scallion filler, overdressed in soy-heavy sauce, served with pasty tasting fried wanton wedges SIDE SALAD: the lemon basil dressing was delicious but the greens were tired, even on the verge of rotting, like they came out of a bag that sat in the back of the fridge a few days too long GAZPACHO: tasted ok but basically Bloody Mary mix with chunks of canned stewed tomatoes SWORDFISH $36: overcooked thin filet of fish with sides of parboiled rice (uncle Ben's?), 2 steamed bagged baby carrots, julienned veggies (with tough stringy carrots), snow peas with tough stringy edge intact, and lots of julienned scallions to dress up the dish SEA BASS $46: fish marinated in the same salty soy-heavy sauce used for tuna poke, served with the same sad sides as the other entree Service: Service was ok but he forgot to bring the 1/2 bottle of red wine we ordered for the entrees. Never even realized it and didn't charge us for it.

Came here for my sisters graduation dinner where we had to have a reservation. Not sure how popular they are regularly though. Absolutely stellar time. The restaurant was small, dark and intimate with very homey and pleasant vibes. Great for our family's graduation dinner. Prices were on the higher end but it was a higher end restaurant. For food, I recommend the halibut or steak. Each entree also comes with a free soup or salad. The entrees themselves were good, the tofu stir fry portion size was smaller so just be aware of that. One of the best things we ate was also the free bread with butter haha! We kept on getting more from our waiter who was happy to accommodate us. Overall, a typical fancy restaurant that was good for families and celebrations. Just be ready to drop money!

    The best rolls ever.

What a delightful and FUN evening!…read more First time at this steakhouse. It was a party of four celebrating my birthday. As soon as we approached the front of the restaurant, I immediately felt like living back in Chicago. As we stepped inside and I took a look around, it hit me. Walking into this steakhouse feels like stepping into a vintage Chicago steakhouse/speakeasy. The doors open to the faint, unmistakable scent of charcoal-seared prime beef, aged bourbon, and pipe tobacco. Dim, moody lighting glints off polished brass fixtures and Art Deco geometric paneling, setting an atmosphere of unmistakable luxury. It wowed me. It has been a full year since I experienced this. This steakhouse is the pinnacle of indulgent dining, characterized by impeccable hospitality, expertly crafted dishes, and an atmosphere of refined luxury. It seamlessly blends the finest cuts of premium, dry-aged beef with white-tablecloth elegance and a sophisticated, but fun ambiance. Interiors feature dark wood paneling, rich leathers, brass accents, and low, warm lighting to create an intimate and timeless setting. White-Glove Service: The waitstaff are highly trained professionals who anticipate your every need. Tables feature crisp linen, heavy silverware, and polished glasses. The Bar: The focal point of the room is often an expansive, classic bar featuring a world-class cocktail program. Signature drinks include bone-dry martinis and perfectly balanced Old Fashioneds. Reminiscent of a top-tier Chicago steakhouse! The menu selection is fantastic, and the staff is wonderfully synchronized with a keen eye for the little details. Everyone at our table was wowed and completely satisfied. The lower level cigar lounge had tremendous atmosphere and it was the perfect way to finish the night. Highly recommended you try this place. Let me tell you a bit more about La Dolce Vita & Cigar Lounge. This cigar lounge is an adjoining gourmet dessert and cigar lounge. It allows you to wrap up your evening with fine wines, single malt scotches, and hand-rolled cigars, even featuring elaborate, over-the-top desserts like their molten "Candy Bar Bomb". I will write another review soon because we will be back. I will also update the review and share all the great food and all the appetizers drinks and desserts that we had on my awesome birthday dinner! So stay tuned ;) ALSO I want to give kudos to the gal that deboned my Dover Sole, after dinner we headed down to the cigar lounge and she asked me how was my meal and she was very polite and professional it made me smile that she took the time to confirm how I felt about the Dover Sole. The details added up throughout the evening.

We've been here several times, and it's always a solid choice for a date night. The interior is modern and comfortable, and they have a bar area with TVs. The dress code is pretty casual, and seating includes a mix of tables and booths. The wait staff was friendly and attentive, and the drinks were good. My husband ordered a mule--he liked it, though he still prefers their Dark and Stormy. I ordered a non-alcoholic drink and had them add rum; it turned out tropical, fruity, and really enjoyable. If you're not looking to drink alcohol, they do offer a nice selection of NA beverages. For dinner, my husband got the prime rib, which he said was excellent, and he thinks their mashed potatoes are the best. I ordered the au gratin potatoes, which were very good, and the risotto. The risotto was just okay for me--not my favorite--but overall the meal was enjoyable. We'll definitely be back again.

Seating was simple and quick... they do check your ID at the door before you get seated. Interior hasn't changed and I don't expect it to change. I appreciate the old vibe that place gives. For meal, we ordered: - few onions rings - Fried Artichoke Hearts - 2 regular burgers and 1 order "over the top" - few beers The service is hit or miss, depends on how busy the place gets... our waitress was working six tables by herself, but she did all she could to help. The onion rings were awesome, fried artichoke hearts, you can skip... for the burgers, I would recommend you stick to classic - meat, cheese, lettuce, tomato and onions. We all got it med, the meat was juicy as usual and we all enjoyed it. The draft beer that I ordered was flat unfortunately. When we got our check I noticed that there was a "convenience fee 3%", which is applied to your meal prices only. I'm not a fan of convenience fee, if they are trying to offset the credit card charges or adjust their prices due to the inflation or higher material costs, they should just raise their prices to offset those. I also didn't see anything about convenience fee being added, granted if it was in a smaller print so I could have missed it. It seems everyone is adding on convenience fee to everything.
