What a disappointment First they showed us a table in the bar area which was right in the path if the servers. So we asked to be moved to another table and there were plenty of them. The table size was maybe 15"x15". If that much. We had a reservation and asked for the warmest place in the restaurant. It was freezing there. We sit down and we here noise from another room and asked if we could sit there. Ok they moved us there. St least the table for two was a little bigger. Staff was friendly, people were eating with their coats on. We asked if they could make it warmer. They complied maybe? Food was okay. Veggie burger was not cooked enough. Veggies were very crunchy. It looked all smashed up truffle tots good, Brussels sprouts super good. Beets good but very expensive for portion size. Beer that they offered was not available when ordered. Service took a long time. Not going back. read more

What a disappointment! Limited wine selection and a limited menu. Especially limited when one of the 5 main courses on the menu wasn't available. Long wait to be served. My wife had the lemon statler chicken with lemon caper sauce. It's was dry (no lemon caper sauce only a larger caper plopped on top) and the size of a chicken wing. It came with maybe 10 green beans and dry, hard rice like it was scrapped from the side of a pan or it wasn't cooked completely! I had the filet. The steak was ok nothing special. The whipped potatoes were soooo salty and of course it came with 8-10 green beans. The waitress asked us how dinner was, and we explained. When we got the bill she gave us a $10 dollar gift card to apply the next time. We left the gift card at the table..... there won't be a next time! read more

Had a business function with private room. The only reason why there are 3 stars is that the ambiance and service was good. Food... it so much. Caesar salad was absolutely terrible. No Caesar dressing. I usually rate a restaurant by the quality of their Caesar(not sure why, but this test has seem to come out pretty accurate each time. Great Caesar, great food). Not worth the money at all. Got the bolognese and it was extremely bland. For the money you pay, I expect to be blown away. Not even close. The third star is for the polenta fries. Those weren't bad. Love, love, love! We had such an amazing time celebrating our after-mini-mony dinner with our small group of family at The West End. The room (outdoor tent) was beautifully decorated, perfectly spaced out to ensure social distancing, and still had a wonderfully warm and intimate feeling. We didn't need the heaters (it was October), though it was great to have them there if necessary. The food was absolutely delicious -- both the short ribs and cod were perfectly cooked and seasoned, and the apps (hello bang bang shrimp!) were outstanding. The drinks were beyond and speak for themselves -- everyone enjoyed every sip of the unique libations. And last but certainly not least, the staff. Meaghann was an absolute dream to work with -- so helpful, responsive, and made the logistics of planning (even a small gathering) a breeze. Her staff was so attentive and friendly, truly an extension of Meaghann's bubbly personality. They all made the whole experience a night we'll never forget. We had our small staff holiday party here. Check out the beautiful setting. Food was excellent, intimate and classy atmosphere and attentive staff. Try the Brussel sprouts app or the scallops wrapped in bacon. So good. I had the filet as did a co- worker. She wanted medium rare and I wanted medium. Both cooked to perfection. read more

The worst customer service I've ever had. Attitude of employee on the phone was absolutely shocking and the rudest I've ever heard someone speak. I've been a customer since they've opened and received the most condescending, mean service ever. He was snarky, rude and the service was bottom line unbeliveably unexceptional. We had a great experience at The West End. Service was very attentive, and the food was tasty. They have a nice set up inside and lovely outdoor terrace. Particularly for Cape Cod this place has a creative menu and good execution. The Tots and Fritters were particularly good, as was the Stuffed Quahog. Mushroom Toast had really good flavors, although bread was a bit too dry if I'm being picky. All of the wait staff was really good. The West End is a welcomed respite from the standard fried seafood fare you often find on the Cape. I expect we'll be back to many times in the future. read more

I Love this place !!!!! The apps are heaven, and presentation is equal to quality ! The scotch menu is outstanding, as well as the Vino. I've met Jennifer one of the owners several times , and told her how the Decour in each of the room takes you to a different place and time. The thought that was put into creating this place was extensive. So with the food, ambience, and libations already outstanding I can't help but comment on how well staffed the West End is. I travel by myself and always eat at the bar , and usually let the bar staff make the bulk of my decisions for me, and I can safely say they are attentive, knowledgeable, pleasant, and all-around wonderful happy people. The food here was absolutely fantastic. There are just many growing pains that this place needs to work out before they hit that "high end" vibe they're going for. The service was abysmal. Our waitress waited a full ten minutes before coming over to our table. She said it was because there were two other water glasses on the table (we were two, they sat us at a table for four) and she thought we were waiting for others. But still... come over to the table, fill our water glasses, offer us the bread basket. Don't just ignore our table. When she finally got to us, she tried to fill our water and walk away. At that point, we'd already picked out everything we wanted since we'd been sitting there that long. She gets our drink orders and tries to escape, but I manage to sneak in an appetizer. I have to repeat my drink order several times, even though I ordered a specialty cocktail. She comes back for our dinner orders (another full ten minutes later) and gleefully declares that she put our appetizer order in already. Thanks...? That's your job. She tries to tell us the specials but can't get the words right. While we're ordering, the appetizer comes out. She gets so flustered trying to put the appetizer onto the table, that she forgets our dinner orders (which we'd made a full 20 seconds before and had no changes, substitutions, etc) and we order again. We never see her again. Our food finally comes out, we eat, and we wait... and wait... and wait... Thirty minutes after we've finished our meal, we're still sitting at the table. We haven't seen our waitress on the floor or anywhere. Eventually we locate her in the corner gabbing with another table. We try to flag down any one at this point, but we're being ignored. The table across from us, who sat down, had an app, two entrees, and two rounds of drinks for two people, has now left. Different waiter. Finally, we get annoyed. The hostess is standing at her post gabbing with people. Eventually I flag down another waiter, and our check appears immediately. The waitress doesn't even bother to apologize for the wait. We pay without any issue (shocking!), but she makes a huge point out of pointing out the full price of the meal (we were using a daily deal and we could tell she wanted to be tipped on the full price of the meal, which we were prepared to do). So overall, the food here is fantastic. We had the truffle tots (a must try), the friend chicken, and the seafood ramen. It was all great. But in order for this place to reach the "high end" vibe that it advertises, it needs to put some more work into the wait staff. Nix the mandatory valet unless it's needed and put that money into training quality wait staff who know your menu and understand the importance of paying attention to guests. If you're going to charge 30+ a plate, then the staff needs to reflect those prices. read more

The West End has been one of my favorite restaurants for the past couple of years now. I have always enjoyed meeting for drinks in the dim, speakeasy atmosphere. The establishment has been very clean every visit, including the women's bathroom. Okay, now about the food. I have tried many things on the menu and I'm usually very satisfied. The truffle tots are delightful and the serving is giant. I can never finish them. I loved the lamb lollipops as well. They often have specials that are unusual and never disappoint. There is only one reason I rated the West End with 4 stars and not 5. Because I love the food and atmosphere so much, I tried out the West End for their Sunday Buffet Brunch. The live jazz was incredible, however the food was disappointing. The fruit was soggy, the pastries were stale, the waffles were fresh but there were no toppings left. My server was new, so I don't blame them, but they did not bring my mimosa until I was done with my meal which made for an awkward chug before leaving. In my opinion, the West End should focus on dinner because that is where they excel! read more

Great atmosphere, service, and fantastic location.... Our waitress was fantastic. The food is sub par and under seasoned. They don't seem to to know the basics. The menu is awesome but the execution is terrible. How do you serve a baked potato with no seasoning and undercooked. Does the chef not know how to render fat on a really expensive cut of steak? Had great expectations when I entered and sadly the restaurant was found lacking on many fronts. It was hilarious when I had to steal salt from another table that had just departed only to have another table congratulate me on my efforts. My daughters salmon was over cooked despite her asking for them to cook it medium rare. And the asparagus was limp and wanting. Extremely disappointing. read more

We went here while we were on vacation on Cape Cod. We picked this place because it great reviews but because the wait was short as well. We got to the place and we just hung out outside till they called our name. A couple of minutes later we get called and walked to our table. The menu was the scan and see ones, which we appreciated a lot. We ordered our drinks, appetizers, and entrees. The drinks came out very quickly and so delicious we finished them before the appetizers came out, we did order more!! The appetizers came and they were very fresh, especially the scallop one! We devoured the exquisite food, and we were eager for the entrees to come thinking if the appetizers were a preview than this is going to be amazing! We got our food and since my fiancé was "indisposed" when the food arrived I tried to be good and wait; but I couldn't!! It smelled and looked so delicious my mouth started to water! I had to take a few bites. I took a bite of my collard greens, mashed potatoes and the braised short rib, then I repeated till half the plate was gone...not a good showing of willpower but great food!! My wife and I visited on a Saturday night during the off-season, and based upon the crowd, I can only imagine how it might get during the summer. That one would have to valet park in Hyannis seems odd, but getting into a warm car with the heat blasting on a frigid November night suddenly made it seem like a stroke of genius. It's apparent that the intent of the restaurant is to provide an elegant but cozy atmosphere with a vintage feel, and the mid-century modern decor - combined with live jazz music in the lounge - struck that note. Even the cocktails and entrees were "old school", with no bold flavors or attempts at fashion or fusion. On the other hand, the Chourico-stuffed Quahogs were sublime as an appetizer. I had been craving them since the Wellfleet Oysterfest, and they didn't disappoint. Our entrees were quite good. My wife had the Fried Fish Po' Boy, with a generous helping of lobster aioli on the locally-caught fish (not identified, but definitely fried) and some tasty truffle tots. I had the Grilled Pork Tenderloin, perfectly cooked and paired with red cabbage, but the corn hushpuppies seemed out of place. Service was adequate, if a little sluggish. I ran out of water several times, and we seemed wait just a tad too long between courses. The bread was served with a pumpkin butter about a month after I was already sick of pumpkin-related anything. Admittedly these are minor nits, but when a restaurant strives for elegance, details matter. Ultimately, there were a few things that might benefit from some fine tuning, but the location is far too convenient to our Cape home not to try it again. read more

We went before a show at the melody tent and arrived early for a 6 pm reservation. We told them the concert started at 8 and they said we would be fine. At 8pm we still did not have our meal and left. Terrible ! Would not go back. I realize that it's hard to find wait staff with covid but this was not ok. We had a babysitter and out of town guests. We've been to The West End Restaurant in Cape Cod many times to eat dinner, especially before concerts at the cape cod melody tent. On this occasion, the show at the tent started at 8 pm, so we made a reservation for 6:30pm. We arrived and were seated early, at 6:25pm. As a party of 5, we ordered and everything was good, until it wasn't. We didn't receive our food until 7:40 pm, after repeatedly asking when our food would be out after a reasonable amount of time. Not only that, but a table of 5 that was seated 15 minutes AFTER us received their food around 7:20 pm and were also shocked that we hadn't received our food. Overall, I was very disappointed with this experience, especially since we were almost late to the concert. read more

This place is great. I've been here for their jazz brunch on Sunday, drinks at the bar, dinner dates and dancing with friends with live music. Hyannis has a gem with The West End. The food is good, service is friendly and professional and it is a repeat place for me. Try it out. Live jazz music on Sunday morning is a nice touch. The buffet is extensive and not for those on a diet... too tempting and too good. Burgers are really good here too. I've also been here for drinks only and jazz and then dinner and jazz on dates recently and the service, food and jazz were awesome. This setting is perfect. We were looking through Yelp at all of the restaurants in the local area. This place caught my eye and I am so happy that it did. It's a new restaurant that has the most amazing decor/atmosphere. From the unique bar to the solid wood raised panel walls, and herring bone tile work. It's beautiful, and the food was all of the same quality. We started with the pork belly stucky buns (incredible)My wife got the Filet and said it was one of the best she ever had. Drinks and dessert (creme brule) were delicious as well. Average at best. Clam chowder and fried calamari apps. Chowder was ok, but I want there to be a noticeable difference between house chowder and heated up Sysco chowder. Calamari was better. Good batter, not too greasy. Certainly could have used more lemon aioli for the portion size. Entrees Cajon swordfish and Sirloin. The sirloin was serviceable. Little fatty for the cut. Glad we ordered medium because it was definitely on the medium rare to rare side. Accompanied by asparagus and mashed potatoes that ended up being the best things on the plate. ( or butchers block in this case, served on a wooden block) The swordfish was a major disappointment. It looked like someone had halfed the steak horizontally, or pounded it out like preparing chicken Marsala or the like. The flavor was ok, but the accompanying mango salsa looked like it had been sitting around and lost its vibrancy. The side of coconut rice was a sticky mess. It had formed into a glob that was unrecognizable as rice. I have had sticky rice before and have always been able to distinguish the grains from one another even though it was sticky. Not in this case. To their credit I was offered a replacement side and opted for the Parmesan risotto. Better flavor but still a bit over cooked. Also to their credit a manager came over to check in about my dissatisfaction and we received a complimentary desert. We were actually offered two, but we decided on sharing one. Salted caramel cheesecake, ended up being the star of the show. We were certainly disappointed. The ambiance and the vibe of the West End is top notch. Unfortunately the food ( especially in this price range) was not. read more

Great upscale addition to the Hyannis downtown. Nice bar area with great bartenders. Often have live entertainment on weekends in summer. Accept reservations, which is convenient if you're celebrating a special day. Most restaurants in the area are 1st come 1 serve. The only complaint I have is that the kitchen was a little slow even with factoring in that it was around 7:30 on a Saturday -- I'd say our visit was in the off-season, 'shoulder-season' if we were being generous. The waitstaff was more than sympathetic and made sure we had sufficient drinks and bread (with a delicious compound butter) as we waited for our starters and mains. The interior had some very chic elements, the cocktails were stiff without becoming offensive, and the food was delicious. I was very pleased to find smoked bone marrow toast on the menu and it did not disappoint! I cannot wait to return! read more

There were also gerkins on the platter which was strange a strange accompaniment as this isn't the 1950's nor thanksgiving at your Grandma's house. This place needs Gordon Ramsey to come through and tear it apart. The French 25 drink was awful, twice. Only giving two for the kind waiter and okay littlenecks. My husband and I were given a gift certificate to this restaurant and as we had not gone out to dinner for a long while, we were excited to try this new place. As I got out of the car, I saw an attendant hurrying over to tell me that there was "valet service" I politely declined as I had already parked and I didn't see any reason to pay someone to do it again. I was informed that the valet service was free and NOT optional. The attendant was not friendly and the idea that I would hand over the keys and my perfectly well parked car to be "re-parked" seemed absurd. I reluctantly handed over the keys About 15 minutes later, I realized I had left my phone in the car. My husband went to retrieve it and found the car unlocked. The restaurant is very pleasantly laid out and comfortable. The hostess, server, and bus staff were really lovely. BUT.... the food.....oh NO! We ordered one appetizer (seared scallops with pork belly) and a field greens salad. The appetizer had TWO small scallops with a cabbage slaw in the middle, which made no sense. The scallops were hard seared on both sides and overcooked. The pork belly which I understand to usually be tender and rich, was hard like a paint chip and rancid tasting. The salad of field greens was good with a light vinaigrette. My husband ordered swordfish with tropical fruit salsa and I ordered the "fruit de mer" white. My dish was described as seafood and swordfish in a light lemon, wine, garlic broth. We were both excited to improve our experience after the disappointing app. The swordfish was a small thin serving on a small amount of white rice. The fruit topping was nice although there was very little of it. The swordfish was so overcooked that it almost crumbled into dust when cut as it was so dry. My dish was a bowl of mussels, clams, scallops, shrimp and swordfish over a small amount of short angel hair pasta. It was weirdly topped with green and red peppers. BUT the '"BROTH" was not a broth, but a heavy almost cheesy thick sauce that coated everything. The pasta was so thin that it disappeared into the pasty bowl. I couldn't tell if the sauce had cheese in it or a ton of flour. The seafood was all VERY overcooked such that it was all rubbery. A box of Kraft mac and cheese would have tasted better. It is really a crime to destroy the seafood by cooking it into oblivion and here on Cape Cod, we expect seafood properly cooked. We told old our server of our disappointment (our server, Kerry, was a real delight!!) The manager came over to apologize and took $20 off the meal but the bill still came to $86.00 WITHOUT drinks/wine. He suggested we use the remaining $14.00 on drinks or dessert in the future. Knowing we would never be back, we gave the certificate to a young couple nearby. I did not tip the valet as I felt forced to get the service. My husband and I enjoyed being out, but the best thing was the ice cream on the way home to get the taste of the dinner out of our mouths. The only saving grace was that we didn't have to pay for it as the gift certificate covered it. read more

However, my zero star review is focused solely on the manager of this establishment who lacks professionalism, has no clue how to provide customer service, and is, in fact, a liar and one of the rudest individuals I have ever encountered. Not only in the restaurant industry, but anywhere. To start, my mother's meal was delivered 20 minutes past the other diners'. When the manager came over to "alleviate" the situation, she was defensive, rude, and then lied to the rest of our party trying to defend her bad behavior. I have never been treated as poorly as we were at this restaurant. We will not be revisiting this place. Nor will we try their "sister" restaurant Embargo. Not worth the overpriced, mediocre meal or the treatment we received. read more
