I have lifetime platinum membership. In fact I qualify for Titanium membership because I travel so often and I am very loyal to the Marriott brand. When I made the reservation I immediately called the hotel to let them know my 28 year old daughter was traveling with me and that her name needed to be added to the reservation because she would most likely be checking in first - they said no problem. On the day of arrival through the check in and chat on my mobile app I confirmed that my daughters name is on the reservation and that she was checking in first. The response was that they would add her and make a note in the reservation, as if I hadn't called previously. Through the app, I also asked for an upgrade if possible because of my membership. I was told they would decide this upon my arrival. I have platinum membership. I obviously know this, It was just the way they responded that wasn't nice. When my daughter arrived the lady the who checked her in was very rude, made like there was no note of her name or that she was checking in first, and my daughter was told that I needed to be present for her to check in. We have done this several times before with Marriott Bonvoy hotels and it has never been a problem If her name had been added to the reservation, Eventually, the person behind the desk did her a massively, huge favor, and checked her in "this one time only". She's correct. It will be this one time only because I will not be returning. Apparently, the person behind the desk thinks this hotel is the only one in Long Beach and that I don't have a choice of which hotel I stay at next time. Of course, an upgrade for my loyalty and membership was not even considered. read more

Im really pleased and satisfied with my stay here at the Westin Long Beach. I was first welcomed kindly by valet at the entrance, and I promptly checked in to my room with my friend who already had booked and stayed at the room. We got one of those high ceiling executive suites - one of the best they could offer. They already had welcome drinks and appetizers and a robe in the room to use. On the 14th floor high rise came with a view that you can enjoy at any time of the day. The thicker curtains open all the way to the side, and the thinner set of curtains roll all the way up to the ceiling. Each bed was equally firm and it has a lot of outlets to charge your phone, laptop and whatever other accessory you have. The clock has USB ports also, so you dont have to reach all the way to the back to plug yourself in and waste precious cable length- plug it right into the clock. If you plan to bring your own entertainment and movies, there is HDMI input in the back, and also a USB port that could perhaps fit a Google Chromecast or an Amazon Firestick. The internet, if you get the faster tier one is able to stream higher quality movies - not the best, but its uninterrupted vieweing. To use the internet, it requires the room number and i think the last name the room is booked under. If you get the faster tier internet, you can connect up to 5 devices on the same room up to 24 hours depending on when you accept the upgrade. There is also an option to have it throughout the duration of your stay. The gym is located on the 5th floor- and they provide you with regular hand towels and cold hand towels, too. You'll need your room's keycard to be able to enter. Expect to do more cardio workout here than a full-on weight lifting regimen, but you have a choice between several treadmills, bikes and ellipticals. The pool and jacuzzi is also on the same floor. I havent taken a dip in the pool, but the jacuzzi is always warm, and to make it bubble, there is a knob that you turn which also is also a timer. If the jets stop, just turn the knob more. There are towels on site, and both the pools and the gym is open to use 24 hours a day. Leaving the hotel was also a remarkable experience for me. You can call the valet thru the hotel phone to summon your car using your room number or the key tags you were given when you drove your car in. You can ask for a late checkout, but just a heads up, cleaning service do go around between times 10 to noon, so you might be getting a knock before your exit. As you leave, the car you valet not only was brought to the front, but it was also displayed very nicely - like WOW. Westin Long Beach was awesome, and i hope i have expressed efficiently how well they made me feel at home and comfortable. read more

Well, we checked in at 4:00 and our room wasn't ready. We had requested 2 double beds. They suggested a king and roll away bed. Well, we didn't want our 35 year-old daughter sleeping on a roll away bed. They told us the room would be ready in approximately 30 minutes. We thought we would go and have a drink at the bar. What a mistake. Someone took our order and then we had to wait at least 20 minutes before we got our drinks. We finally got our room and it was okay. The next day I went to use the shower and it wasn't working properly. When we went to check out, there were extra fees for the bar. No one at the front desk could explain what they were and we were told to ask someone at the bar. They also couldn't help us and we just ended up paying the entire bill. Not WORTH almost $500 for one night. I suggest finding another hotel in the area. read more

We had a wedding night horror story at the Westin, Long Beach. We had a room block for over 20 guests, but after arriving to the hotel room at the front desk, we were treated like we were trying to cheat them. Our manager misspelled my wife's Asian last name, making it a completely different last name, and did not correct it on the reservation, despite a request by email. This led to a disaster at the front desk which ruined our night. I would like the man in the grey suit who was filling in at the front dress, Dustin to know that it is not appropriate to audit information provided by a bride in her wedding dress in front of her guests. Your tone, actions, and general demeanor was out of line. The front desk is for hospitality, not auditing. I was informed that he would be provided training after this incident, but I personally feel that if you need to be told this, you do not have the right mindset and should not be allowed to work the front desk. You'll find out the hard way that we're honest people since you apparently really needed to confirm right then and there. When we were finally helped by a different staff member who was actually kind and helpful. They kept insisting though for a credit card for incidentals for one of our guests despite having given them our credit card that we paid for. I just wanted to get to my room but had one more hiccup because the front door handle was stuck after tapping the keycard - I (male in my 30s) had to kick it since it wouldn't open when I pushed it down with my hand. We didn't get to enjoy the champagne or chocolate covered strawberries because at this point we were exhausted by this harrowing experience. The manager was very apologetic, got all the facts, comped our room, and acknowledged their mistakes. The facilities and everything else felt very nice, but we didn't really get to enjoy them. I'm sure they will learn from this experience, but we're only getting married once and we placed our trust in this four star hotel and we were really let down. read more

Stayed here from Oct 7th to the 11th and had a pleasant stay with no major issues until returning home. Today is Nov 1st and I still have hold charges associated with my stay. I have spoken to management several times over the phone and left several messages with the accounting department. They have never returned my calls to address the issue. These hold charges should be removed as soon as it was paid in full upon checkout. I understand that my back may take a bit of time but they have not seen that the hold has been released. Especially if you value your rest I would really encourage you not to stay here. Hard to believe this place has the Westin brand as I wouldn't say it is even Holiday Inn quality. Most annoying was the loud noise from the outside bar terrace which was right below many rooms including mine. This was allowed to go to 1130 at night and I had an early flight. Our shower was dirty and had mold growing in the stopper. The shower diverter switch didn't work properly so the tub was running as I showered. The shower was also partially clogged so the water level quickly rose to above my ankles. Not a plessant experience. . The bathroom had no fan or windows. The internet service was quite poor and would often just go out as I worked on my laptop in the room. The pool and jacuzzi area is outdated and just kind of sad and dirty looking. I used to have a very good impression of Westin hotels but my poor experience staying at this place has really damaged the brand in my eyes. read more

This hotel has so much going for it. Simple, no frills but comfortable, ambient environs. Had their chicken and waffles for breakfast and the spicy red pepper syrup it came with was a revelation. Nothing wrong with the pool. Walking distance to Shoreline Village. It would've been a lovely stay if not for their all-across-the-board dismissive, neglectful service. Coming back in the evening hours to discover our room hadn't been cleaned after specifically requesting it and then being told we're "on a list." In-room dining that never came with what was requested. Having to steal a cart and bus things out ourselves during checkout. Valets who do absolutely nothing to help. Nobody wants to stay where you're required to be a squeaky wheel or do everything yourselves. Hope they figure it out. read more

Internet is atrocious. Don't stay here for business travel. I had to take all my zoom meetings from my phone and struggled to get any work done due to the weak, fluctuating internet speeds. The adjoining doors might as well been a curtain because sounds travel through them easily. I definitely heard full on conversations from the rooms next to me. By far the worst experience at a Westin. While trying to fix the bedding, I noticed the discoloring and patchy objects in the bed. I called for a manager to come to my room but was told only a housekeeping manager was in duty. There is always a manager on duty and so since they would not talk to me directly, here is my public review. The housekeeping manager was very nice. It reported that this was feather parts. Despite the answer, there is no excuse for a Westin brand to allow for this and to not change the bedding periodically. My room has mold in the bathroom and a hair on the floor. My blow dryer also needed to be replaced. The stay was not as I expected from a Westin/Marriott and I would have left, but in New Year, it's hard to find a hotel in the area. I would not recommend this hotel. Updated lobby but the rooms are "old" even though they may have been redone at some point. I'm totally disgusted. They are aware of the issue and have had complaints but they are not sure when the change to the bedding will happen. To management: as a loyal Marriott guest, your direct response would have been appreciated. Instead, you disregarded my concern and no one even really acknowledged the issue with an apology. We travel to Long Beach and stayed here for 4 night last week. My daughter lives about 4 minutes from this hotel and we wanted to be near by. The hotel looks beautiful from the outside and inside the lobby. My first bad experience was when I called in earlier in the week before check in and asked if they had queens beds and the person I got on the line, must of forgotten he was in hospitality because he was rude and short with me. At check in, staff was still not in the mood to be friendly, This hotel has no queen beds, only has doubles, first problem, the AC in the room only cooled down the area directly in front of the grates. The water in the bathtub was not draining, it would back up everytime we showered. The next morning at 7/7:30am loud drumming and screaming could be heard coming from the entrance of the hotel lobby all the way up to our room, this was every morning we were there. Later I found out the hotel staff is negotiating a new contract, which explained the picketing at the front of the hotel. As much as the hotel chargers, all the fees, one would think they would pay their staff properly keeping in mind the cost of living in California is so high. 6/15/24 Disrespectful to neighbors! The Westin had the loudest party of the year last night. It started at 10 pm in the conference room terrace area between the hotel and the bank building. This event was so loud that it made our windows rattle. We called several times to complain about the noise but they kept saying that they would speak to "hospitality" but did nothing. I'm am so grateful for the entire staff at the Westin Hotel especially Ingrid who works at the front desk. Recently while attending the IAEM conference, I booked an Airbnb but it turned out to be a disaster. I walked in to the Westin with fingers crossed hoping for a miracle and truly God was on my side. Ingrid at the front desk was so EXTREMELY helpful! There's no way to express my gratitude for all the staff including the waitresses and waiter! The food was delicious and the caramel coffee was the best start of each day. My room was cleaned and even my housekeeper was amazing at respecting my wishes. The view if all rooms facing Ocean Blvd is like looking out over the Vegas strip- Beautiful! If you ever need to visit Long Beach let this be one of your first choices. Always a great experience with Westin, but at this location specifically I noticed a sign that FREE yoga classes are offered daily at 7:30am! I took the Saturday class with Ram and it was awesome! He asked if I needed focus on any specific areas, which was my lower back. And he went into poses that helped relieve my aches as well strength my back. We ended with breathing exercises and meditation. I ended class feeling stretched and renewed. That morning class is exactly what I needed to start my work day! Westin you did well by providing this perk to your guests and I look forward to trying the other yoga instructors classes as well! Maybe a night class could be offered too? MARRIOTT BONVOY PLATINUM ELITE REVIEW I am completely dissatisfied with this hotel. What once seemed like a pleasant place to stay, has quickly left me disgusted. I stayed at this hotel for a few nights in August. After checking my folio (receipt) I noticed that the restaurant vouchers that were given to me for my platinum elite status were not applied to my bill and I ended up paying full price. I would have just addressed this on a future stay via the chat on the app but I will NEVER stay here again. On September 6, I stopped by to have breakfast at the restaurant with my family and was RUDELY stopped by Alice at the front desk while headed to the bathroom. She harassed me and told me the bathroom was only for guests. I had to go so bad that I couldn't even go back and forth with her, nor did I have a chance to let her know I was dining at the restaurant. She was so nasty and in my face, I just left. I called immediately and spoke with Erica to address the folio discrepancy since I have no intentions of returning due to this experience. I was told that I couldn't speak with management or accounting and that everything had to be handled by the front desk email address. I have not received a response YET and I even forwarded it back to them days later with no response. I was once impressed by the fact that the staff recognized me returning and now i see this hotel as a disgrace to the Marriott brand. Anyway. I had wonderful stay in room 539. This room was very quiet... No outside/hall noise. The bed and linens were very comfy. Security was nice to have at night. Check in was smooth. Lobby is large and lovely. I ate two meals in the hotel cafe. Both were excellent quality. I appreciated that my dog could stay for no added fee. I spent one night at this hotel. The restaurant bar had flies all gathered at the bar where i was sitting. When i mentioned this to the staff, she said it was always like that. The restaurant/bar also had one bartender and one waitress working for an entire full lunch service. The time to be waited on was extreme. I sent an email to the hotel manager, (AP Vega) that went unanswered. When i ordered 4 waters from room service, they came to the door, handed me 4 room temperature water bottles. No ice, no glasses, no straws, no tray, no cart, nothing. The person just handed the warm water bottles over to me and didn't even ask if he could set them down for me. For what they charge for water, i expected cold water in the very least. I again sent the hotel manager a second email. That went unanswered also. I won't return to the Westin Long Beach. How insane is it that check in is 3:00 p.m. but the guest is told there is no room available yet when arriving well after their advertised check in time? This was after a day of cross country flying. We've been coming to this specific location for years and have been SPG owners for the last 15 years. We've notified the hotel could benefit from some updating. Carpet is old and buckling in the hallways. The doors on the inside of the elevator could use some TLC. We checked in for 1 night in Room 1533. A few things we noticed. The granite counter top has a chunk out of it and there was some chipping around the tile in the bathtub. All cosmetic and really not a huge deal. The ice machine was broken on our floor...again not a big deal. Well, my husband and I go to shower and we look and there's hair, mold, and "gunk" in the tub. Now that's a big deal to me. We didn't have time to call housekeeping to clean it up. So I cleaned it. After I showered I grabbed what appears to be clean towels. The first towel I grab was grimy and gross. I couldn't tell if it had been used or just stained. After we got dressed I went down to the front desk to let them know. I showed the man some pictures I took. He agreed that it was bad and said I'm sorry and said thanks for letting us know. I thought maybe the manager would be called or someone from housekeeping would contact us. I'm disappointed that the front desk just looked at the pictures and pretty much shrugged their shoulders. Cleanliness in a hotel is everything! I know that's not the Westin way! read more

Did a weekend getaway to Long Beach and The Westin was the perfect hotel for us girls. I was absolutely enamored by the decor of the hotel lobby with its high ceilings, tons of natural light, and the chic decor. Checking in was easy peasy, and even our room had high ceilings and more than enough space for four girls. The space was clean and the bathroom was no problem to share (which we were definitely worried about upon booking). It is located approximately 10 min walking distance from downtown LB where all the bars are, and another 10 min in the other direction for the beach. Parking is $30 for overnight, and that includes in and out - but you really don't need it because the location is so great. Be warned though- when they say "free WiFi".. they should REALLY say "free WiFi... in the hotel lobby only". To get WiFi in the room, you gotta pay. Free coffee in the hotel lobby bar. They have a pool and gym. Gym was currently closed due to Covid-19, but the pool was open and way too crowded. We didn't spend time there at all. Overall, I would definitely stay here again! Friendly staff. Great location. And it has a welcoming aura, which is nice when you're away from home. read more

The only reason I gave it two stars was because Jasmine on the customer service line was so great, she's the only reason I enjoyed my stay. 1. The website says they have a "Peleton". First off- spelling error, it's Peloton. That should have been my first clue to not book here. I got to the hotel and went to work out and couldn't adjust the seat on the bike. Maintenance had to be called to come with a tool to adjust the seat. After they left, I turned on the bike and it wasn't connected to the wifi. Maintenance came back and long story short, AN HOUR AND A HALF LATER- we couldn't get the bike on the wifi. I chose this hotel for the Peloton bike that doesn't work and is a huge paperweight. When I told the front desk they should probably update their website so folks don't book the hotel thinking they'll be able to ride peloton- they employee just shrugged her shoulders. 2. My room was disgusting. I found a hair tie under the desk, noticed a blood stain on the bed (see photo). All ick. 3. I stayed for multiple days and called customer service asking for additional coffee pods for my in room coffee maker. After 15 minutes- I was delivered water bottles and cups, but no coffee. When I called again requesting coffee, I waited 30 minutes and then got a call from Jasmine asking if I got my coffee. I told her no. 15 minutes later Jasmine called again to tell me that she was told I had coffee in the room. I had to explain that I had two coffee pods and I was on day 3 of my stay- so no, I don't have any more coffee. 15 minutes later (a total of well over an hour after my initial call), I finally got my coffee. Overall- pick ANY other hotel nearby if you are going to the convenient room center. read more

I asked for the Italian pino grigio but was served the California-he said it was because there was not enough left in the Italian bottle! What a nice gesture. The California was actually better-come to find out! This is a nice place to relax if you are out and about in Long Beach and would like a civilized place to use the facilities and have a quiet drink. The location is 5 star. There are so many walkable places: restaurants, coffee shops, convention center, harbor, aquarium, outlets, ferris wheel. Parking is 4 star. I never felt unsafe in the lot even at night. In and out access with a reusable card, but it would expire before our stay ended so you had to get new ones periodically. Bellhop: was hit or miss. The woman (I believe her name was Nancy) was personable and welcoming and greeted us by name as we came and went. That was very impressive! On the other hand, when we were checking out, they wouldn't let us just grab a cart and load it ourselves (so much easier with kids). As my husband says "hotels need to realize that sometimes we don't want to interact and have to chit chat, so give us the option." Anyway this time a male (larger guy with dark hair) bellhop arrived. We didn't realize at that point they had to wait with the cart, so we asked if they could come back in 15 minutes. He never showed, so after three trips back and forth, we hauled everything to our car by hand. Room service: 1 star. COVID excuse still so they only provide service after 2 nights. Even when they did come, they hardly did anything. They didn't even leave fresh towels or wipe toilets. When we called one day bc our son's diaper leaked a little and asked for room service with a bed change, we got only that. No new towels (even with the used towels stacked in the tub) and left the garbage overflowing in our room. Room itself was unimpressive. The TV was in the bedroom and only had basic cable and a weird picture like we were watching a 1990 screen. The living room area had no TV, no table. The bathrooms had nowhere to place toiletries. No shelf under the sink or anything. The shower, however, was heaven! Great pressure and had both a wand and shower head! The breakfast buffet had a nice spread. The bacon made our child sick so we stayed away from that for the rest of our stay. Always appreciate the days the cheese blintzes were served. I stayed here for a company meeting last year while it was going under renovation, and I have to say I was surprised of the low rating. The prices of the room were not bad as I had a company discount, so I cannot speak to what it would be on a normal basis. Check-in (and checking out) was a good experience: quick and easy. Dogs stay free, which is awesome. The location of the Westin is also great, as it is located on Ocean Boulevard, across from the Long Beach Performing Arts Center and minutes of walking to the Metro stations, convention center, Pine Avenue, Starbucks, and other businesses that make staying in downtown Long Beach easy. The rooms are large, clean, and comfortable. The beds are really soft and helped me get restful sleep for long days of meetings. I am surprised to see people mentioning that they were charged for Wi-Fi as I did not have that experience and was able to use the internet throughout the hotel without accruing additional fees. If you plan to park here, be prepared to pay a steep price. Honestly, there may be other parking lots nearby that would be cheaper, but you would have to do some research on the hours, accessibility, and proximity to the hotel (downtown Long Beach for the most part is laid back but there can be a lot of police activity -- I know since I live in the area). Overall, I think it is a great place to stay as it is located in the center of downtown and is walking distance to a lot of landmarks. There is easy access to the Metro buses and light rails, the free DTLB buses, and bicycles and scooters. read more

I can't remember which floor we were staying on, but the view was so beautiful. It's especially nice during sunset and at night. You can see all the lights in the city. It's so pretty. You can take some really nice photos from up high there. It's also located in a good spot, walking distance from everything; night life, beach, restaurants, bars, banks, FedEx, aquarium, the Pike , shopping. SO WONDERFUL! I cannot understand why this hotel only has three stars on Yelp. We stayed here for two lovely nights. Room was absolutely meticulous with a bed so comfortable we immediately came home and went shopping for all new bedding to try and recreate it...... The lobby was beautiful, ultra modern and clean, dog friendly hotel!!! Walkable to the beach and the touristy pier shops, Starbucks, restaurants, the Queen Mary ship etc...... We did not use any of the amenities other than the self parking so, I cannot comment on restaurants etc. honestly, Long Beach is not my favorite part of Los Angeles...... but, I would definitely stay here again for a plush place to stay for day trips to Venice or the mission in San Juan Capistrano 25'ish miles in each direction. read more

I have never stayed at a Marriott affiliated hotel that was so poorly run. I heard them talking about remodeling it which is needed. They need a whole new staff too. I only had one person who actually seemed to care about serving my needs. The restaurant, I am using the term loosely, has an uninviting menu and the staff is incredibly slow. Same with their coffee bar. My friend had a cockroach in his bed! Eeek! Plus it was freezing cold in the lobby, restaurant and gym. Ugh! Yes, it is close to the convention center but try to go to a different hotel if you can. This is thumbs down! read more

The Westin is walking distance to a number of places downtown. It's a bit busier but you are almost in the heart of downtown. Parking fees are pretty pricey but it's going to be like that in the area. Big fan of the beds but I thought the staff was a bit cold. read more

I really liked this hotel. Location is awesome, you really can't beat it. Across from the ocean and so close to downtown you're in walking distance from anything you want to do. They were remodeling at the time so some things weren't as Westin quality (CONSTRUCTION THOUGH). It was still a beautiful property. Greeted with Champagne and treated like Kings. The entire staff was so wonderful for our short stay and we could bring our pooch! There is a deposit you must pay but worth it to have your buddy travel with you. Our room was gorgeous and had a beautiful view. It was spacious, modern and extremely comfortable. The beds were fantastic and I really wish we could have stayed longer. Whenever I plan on being in LB for the night, I will definitely be staying here. It's worth every dollar. read more
