Awful. I have stayed at the Westin multiple times with family and it was great, until this time. My dad booked my boyfriend and I a hotel room for the night as we had just had an over 12 hour travel day. Not to mention that my boyfriend has epilepsy and had a seizure in the car before we came in. The desk attendant stared him up and down before we even got to the counter. So after all that today, I would like to sleep in the $500 room my dad used his points for. But apparently people who are under the age of 21 are not welcome at the Westin without an "adult". Why can't you just remove the alcohol from the room that we will be staying in? Especially right next to a college campus? The Westin is losing so much money by not allowing people under 21 to stay. The front desk lady who I can only assume was the manager was completely rude and full of attitude. She was not going to try and help find us a replacement hotel until my dad called and talked to her. My mom ended up finding us a room in a different hotel with no help from the Westin. If I could give 0 stars, or even -5 stars, I would do that. Needless to say, if I book a room- let me stay in the room. I will not be staying here again. I had a great stay for a recent business meeting. I bridge the hotel is fairly new and located within walking distance to restaurants and the mail street of ASU. Check in was fast and easy. If you need any room amenities, use the Marriott Bonvoy app. The room has the comfortable Heavenly bed, big TV, shower , safe and is very clean. It can be a bit noisy if there is partying on the streets below. I didn't get to try the lobby restaurant Terra yet coworkers said the breakfast is good. There is a rooftop bar called Sky and they have tvs to watch sports, drinks and great views. There is also a coffee shop off of the lobby. Overall, I had a very nice stay and thank you for making my stay a pleasant one. read more

The Westin has been open a year or so, I have stayed many times over the last year with varying degrees of satisfaction. The hotel is beautiful The hotel staff is amazing -Valet team is on point, remembering me from multiple trips over the year. Impressive -front desk team is always super friendly and greet every guest as they come in - bar staff is friendly and make good drinks -restaurant serves great food -pool bar is never opened, fri-sunday the pool bar should serve drinks by the pool, not just at night My biggest issue has been the house keeping service, a $300/night hotel should be cleaning your room daily and not take shortcuts. I can't speak highly enough of this place! Brand new Westin right in downtown Tempe; and everything about this place was perfect. When we walked in, there was a guy painting a portrait right there in the lobby, which was a great first impression. The staff was amazing and I have to especially thank Emily for making our stay that much better. We were also told that the hotel had good food so we decided to try it out and it was the best choice! You have to try the hot stone wagyu and ahi tuna! (And surprisingly the banana enchiladas) Everything from valet to the pool and the bar, again I can't speak highly of the Westin. First time staying at Westin. Was looking forward to the premium amenities advertised on the website. I just started to travel a lot for work and was excited to trying the Westin brand out. Unfortunately, i had to cancel my stay due to a last minute change in my work's schedule - relocating to a new location outside of Tempe. Too bad for me I cancelled 12 minutes past their cancellation cutoff. $233 I was stuck with personally. The front desk manager stated there was nothing they could do as it's out of company policy - no exceptions. I work in business where client service of the upmost importance - there are always exceptions, especially for something as small as 12 minutes. Additionally, the upstairs pool is inhabited by rowdy college kids and rarely cleaned. Pillows on the lawn chairs are brown/dirty, strewn about like a teenagers bedroom. Anyone can utilize the area as the door scanning system is broken. Do yourself a favor and stay at the Canopy Hilton down the street. Friendly staff (I stayed there for the week prior), CLEAN premium pool area with cabanas (door scanner actually works), and less pretentious interior. Brand new, character, and clean compared to Weston's dingy, stuffy, "luxury" aesthetic. I'll be encouraging all my colleges who travel for work to avoid Westin at all costs. Bummer! read more

We are frequent Westin customers and this was our first visit to this hotel. Overall the hotel is newer and very clean, so top marks for that and the great location. I also used the Bonvoy app to inquire via Chat about parking, and that was responsive. They only offer valet parking @ $25 per night. The valet team was timely and friendly. I also tried the Bonvoy mobile room key for the first time, but it didn't work. A trip to the friendly front desk fixed that on my iPhone, but then we learned our plastic key cards were deactivated. One more trip to the front desk to get mobile and plastic keys synched. The rooftop bar and pool were spectacular with reasonably priced drinks and a free view. We were here for a conference which was at the hotel, and those rooms and service were great. The room was efficient and clean. We liked the closet pull out storage, and the bed was 5 stars comfy, which is typical for Westin. A few minor drawbacks were: - The bathroom has an opaque glass wall which lights the entire room when on. Not so great when one person is sleeping - The bathroom only had a shower, which was beautiful white faux marble including the floor. It looked great but was as slippery as ice when wet. I could imagine a serious fall. I am not sure if the hotel offers floor mats but that would increase the safety. - The hotel only had 2 of 4 elevators working which meant standard 5 minute waits for a ride. As we were on the 10th floor we elected to wait rather than take the stairs. - The hvac system was louder than I would have expected for a new Westin. Overall I would stay here again if visiting Tempe, but also might try someplace else. read more

What a beautiful brand new hotel! Loved the contemporary clean decor! The views from the roof top pool/bar were great! The room was spacious and super clean with nice contemporary decor. Loved the wood flooring in the whole room. We always dislike carpets used in most other hotels. Carpets will get dirty and they can't be fully cleaned like tiles or wood. Hate the feeling of walking barefooted on carpets that have been stepped on by thousands of other people shoes! I'd give the bathroom a 5-star rating as well. We had a dinner at the restaurant Terra. Although the portions were small, food quality and presentations were outstanding! Will definitely stay at the hotel again next time. read more

Hotel was centrally located and rooms were very comfortable. They accommodated an early check- in which was super helpful. Customer service was ok. I was told breakfast was served at 6 but wasn't actually served until 7, kind of messed up my early morning needs. The rooftop pool was nice but was open to non hotel guests. So it made for a busy atmosphere with empty cups everywhere. It was a really different crowd at the pool than the people staying at the hotel. read more

I stayed at this hotel during the Innings Festival this weekend because getting an Uber after the show is always impossible. The check in process was quick and easy, valet was a bit pricey at $25 but the room was super cozy. The immediate experience as you walk in is a gorgeous lobby with a cool bar and a really great smell (maybe eucalyptus?). Would definitely recommend to anyone staying on Mill looking for a more grown up vibe. I was worried the hotel would be filled with rowdy college students but it was more posh than I was expecting next to hectic ASU. It was definitely worth the added costs rather than waiting for and paying for an Uber back to Gilbert. read more

We had a reservation for an executive suite checking in last Sunday. We were only staying for 1 night. Received an email for add-on services. Since we were only there for 1 day I requested 12:00 check-in so we could take advantage of the rooftop pool. The early check-in request was approved and charged extra for early check-in. We arrived shortly after 12 and our room was not ready. They said it would be ready within the hour and we could leave our bags and sit by the pool. After waiting for a call for our room to be ready for 2 hours I finally went to the front desk to check and it wasn't until 3:30 we were able to get into our room. They did refund the charge for early check-in and gave us a voucher to use at the restaurant which was nice. I wouldn't be giving a bad review if that was the end of the issue I had. After going in the hot tub later that night, I woke up with a painful rash and me and my partners swimwear bleached from the chemicals. It's been 2 days and the rash has only gotten worse. The bar and restaurant are awesome - exceptional, experienced service. The rest of the hotel has some minor kinks to work out in terms of noise and staff, but overall I had a positive experience and would stay here again in a heartbeat. I read the negative reviews but decided to stay here despite what I read because they offered a very good AAA membership rate. I'm so glad I did. We had an amazing stay at The Westin Tempe. This was our second time staying there. The first time we stayed there, my husband and I were shooting for a wedding and the bridal/groom party was staying there. We did not get to enjoy the amenities as we were constantly working. So we booked again for a nice staycation/baby moon being that we are expecting a baby any day now. The staff crew were friendly. The beds are amazing. The shower... let me tell you I didn't want to get out. We spent all of Sunday pool side enjoying the music and the view from the 18th floor. My wife and I did not stay at the Westin, however, we did have Easter Brunch at the bar. DJ was our server / bartender and he was fantastic! We started with a Bloody Mary and Mimosa and both were fantastic! We ordered the Corn Chowder with Lobster as well as the Burrata and both of those were amazing! Lastly, we received our main courses and they too were fantastic! If you're a foodie or just needing a place to eat, the staff was super friendly, the place was very clean and the food was great! If you want housekeeping service, don't stay there. If you want a used room with hair, mold, dog fur,towels left in floor of closet and a used bed , I do recommend you stay there. The housekeeping is the worst. Good luck requesting amenities some don't understand you because they don't speak English. When I had complaints and wanted resolved I was made to feel like I was asking for complimentary stay and food. It was very uncomfortable and embarrassing. One of there employees was extremely rude. He refused to give my daughter a key to their room and consistently gave us bad service the entire duration of our stay. The hotel had great service until we came in contact with this certain employee. He was a bald man who was rude to my entire family and never apologized for his attitude. I told the manager and she defended his disrespectful behavior. This hotel, or any hotel, should never allow their employees to treat their guests this way. Beautiful hotel, the rooms are well appointed and the rooftop bar is wonderful. All of the staff we encountered were great. Now for the things that can be done better. Brand new hotel built without any EV charging stations. This really is a big inconvenience. We woke up on our first day and our in room coffee station only had one coffee cup for two guests, no regular coffee and two packs of decaf. The machine still had coffee grounds from the last guest so this was obviously not serviced between stays. So much for Covid protocols. We did ask for coffee and it was promptly delivered. However, the next day housekeeping again left only one coffee cup and one pack of regular coffee. Towels also a problem. Our room has three bath towels, one hand towel and one wash cloth for two guests. Room serviced and again the housekeeper only left one hand towel and one wash cloth for two guests. Every guest deserves at least a complete set of towels. There was trash sitting on the table outside the elevator for two days. We came into the restaurant around 10pm and all of the high top tables were empty but not wiped down. For a Westin brand hotel I would expect so much more. We have stayed at many hotels over the past three years in Tempe. Moxy, Hyatt House, The Graduate, Mission Palms and Residence Inn. All of these hotels are less expensive and have much better service. You have a beautiful brand new property but service matters. We hope you strive to do better for your next guests. read more

Came to have an amazing experience in Tempe for my first time. Needless to say it was the opposite, thanks to Xiomara. My trip was supposed to consist of relaxing by the rooftop bar/ pool. When I first arrived I was greeted by the most nasty attitude from Xiomara...I had asked for 2 cups of ice and she rolled her eyes at me and told me they didn't have any, after they were an hour late opening. Later that night we came back and asked for a table for dinner while accompanied by a friend that is a big spender here at the Westin. We saw a table that needed to be cleared and asked her if it was occupied or just needed to be cleaned, she said " it's dirty, I haven't cleaned it" ( again with attitude ) and proceeded to stand there doing nothing, on her phone for 10 more minutes while we waited for it to get bussed, which never happened. For some reason she was mad that we wanted to sit there beside the fact nothing else was available and then said clearly out loud "why are you here, it is a Wednesday go home" we took our business elsewhere and will not be ever coming back again!!! read more

The worst hotel stay I have had in a while. Broken A/C in our first room. Fine, they put us in a new one. Then they did not service my room for 2 days (after I requested them to each day), so I finally just told them to bring up all bed linens and towels so I could make up my own room, by myself. They brought them up to me, and they wanted to come in my room to retrieve my dirty towels. I told them not to come in because I had my dogs in my room. I then went out for an hour-long walk with my dogs and came back to find my used towels gone - they had gone in my room when I was not there which felt violating (I had my purse in my room with my wallet on the bed while I was gone). The manager on duty said that "she understood why this is so upsetting" but really just fed me words to come across as if she was validating my feelings. She never offered to comp anything, but ended up giving me a $30 credit only after I asked (mind you, I was staying at this hotel for 6 nights - so this $30 credit is basically nothing compared to what I was paying for my stay). I have stayed at Best Westerns that were nicer and more hospitable than this. Using the phones to call downstairs to the front desk was pointless - no one would ever answer. The BEST part of this hotel were the valet guys. Always polite, responsive and doing their job well. read more

Well, let's see. Checking in, asked for a luggage cart; they don't have any. Front tells me they are ordered but haven't arrived yet. OKaaaayyyy. This is starting well. Trying to relax in my room after a long day, looking forward to a long hot shower; boy was I disappointed. There is no hot water in my room. Turns out, if you check in to this hotel you have about a 50-50 chance of getting hot water in your room. Don't believe me? Check out the reviews for the hotel on the Marriott website, once you get past the OBVIOUSLY planted reviews, you will see more then half discuss no hot water. Manager says nothing can be done, no other rooms available and they are "Working" on fixing the problem. SERIOUSLY!?!? Am I staying in a hostel? A WESTIN HOTEL without hot water? Wow... On the website it says room service is available. NOPE, that is false advertising. Front desk says it is not "ready yet" WHY is this hotel even open? They obviously can't take care of their guests. We have had the worst possible experience at this hotel. I cannot say enough bad things. We booked a king suite and our entire stay there has been no hot water, when maintenance came to fix it he claimed the water was working and when we tried it again later there was still no hot water and the sink was broken. When we spoke to concierge they offered a $20 voucher for our stay that cost over $1,000 which was honestly an insulting gesture. Not to mention the hotel is clearly still under construction, and not prepared for guests - there was loud banging that you could hear from our room all day today that made it impossible to work from the hotel and half of the outlets in our suite don't work. And if that wasn't enough, housekeeping walked into our room one afternoon without even knocking which was very uncomfortable. Also, for the price, the amenities in their suites are not up to par, for example they have a huge kitchen table, but no microwave. If I could give this place zero stars I would. Ok, but: There are plenty of nice things to say about this hotel but when I go to a hotel for business purposes I am looking to get a full nights' sleep first and foremost. Didn't happen. My wife and I checked in on Friday at 6:30 PM, needing to be up early Saturday morning for a 7 o'clock vendors set-up for an outdoor arts festival. Location is proximate to ASU. Dinner at the restaurant was fine; I particularly enjoyed the squash flower soup. Rooftop lounge and pool with great views. The room is modern and clean. The bed is firm and comfortable. Two of the bathroom walls are frosted glass; when you turn on the light in the bathroom it lights up the whole bedroom. Room has a full length mirror mounted such that it is blocked by tv console. What the website can't show but this reviewer wants to share is the incredible volume of noise coming from a nearby dance club 11 floors down and across the way. Reverberations, booming, waves of noise and shouting fun that commenced around 11:30 after we had initially gotten to sleep. Club closed at 2am, after which revelers went home noisily, revving muscle car sounds echoing up from the canyon created by tall building across the way. Complained at midnight but there were no alternative rooms on the quiet side of hallway (who knows what was going on over on that side anyway). Probably got 4 hours sleep. read more
