My wife and I enjoyed our meal. I found the only weakness was the coffee. We both found the coffee to be too weak and we would be better off next time to order water and save $5 off of our bill. The restaurant of this caliber should look upon the possibility of making their coffee stronger or at least offering two different strengths of coffee a regular strength and a stronger one for people that are willing to order it. This place was great! My husband and I had to wait about 20 minutes to get a table, but the hostess came out and asked if she could serve us coffee while we waited. I thought that was so sweet! She continued to make sure we enjoyed our time throughout the stay. The food was tasty and fairly inexpensive ($8-$10) for a good portion. We got breakfast food, which was reminiscent of Wolfgang's (another popular GR breakfast stop), but they also have burgers, wraps, and polish cuisine. I'll visit again! read more

Came for lunch, party of 6. Only one booth in the restaurant, luckily it was available. Excellent wait service. Much less excellent wait time. Ordered the Cuban Skillet. Was either prepared with combination of cold-prep and fresh, or was made first and sat dying in the window for 25 min while orders for rest of table were prepared. In any case, arrived at room temperature topped with cold salsa. The flavor was good and the portion large (appropriate for the 8.25 price point), but the temperature issue made it an overall unappetizing dish; I ate less than half. Other dishes from our party included the tomato+asparagus quiche which was reportedly good, but was TINY. Extremely disproportionate to my own dish, for a similar price. The best I could give the Westsider is meh. The servers were meh. They weren't very attentive or engaging. I ordered an omelette with green peppers, onions and black beans. It took a long time to get my food and when they did serve it, there were no black beans. When I asked about it, the server brought some black beans instead of having the omelette remade with black beans in it. My wife's coffee cup was gross with lots of stains on the inside. Her eggs were under cooked even though she ordered them done medium. Definitely not worth the money, especially when you charge $2.50 for a glass of Diet Coke. I probably won't be back. read more

First time here and it was a great place. Staff are super friendly and always keep your cups filled! Nothing super unique about this place, but the food is great! Amazing breakfast spot. Had to wait about 30 minutes for a table for two but got to enjoy some coffee while we waited. Wanted a little bit of sweet and savory so went half and half on the Cuban skillet and French toast. Both were phenomenal and it was nice to have sweet and savory. The French toast had a nice Cinnamon kick to it and was perfectly moist. The skillet had so many great flavors that worked well together. The coffee was only so so but they kept it flowing which was nice. We also had a side of bacon that was thick cut but a little too salty. In town visiting a good friend and he suggested we come here. It was some of the best breakfast I have had in a long time. I ordered the 12th street breakfast (huevos rancheros) and the pork was amazing! My hubby has the breakfast special a southwest eggs Benedict. The potatoes with his rocked (I snuck a few from him!). My friend had the BLT which he said was perfect! Good service and good food stop in and eat up!! I can not RAVE enough about how good this place was! Great Breakfast in a nice and clean establishment. I've never witnessed a waitstaff that was more "Johnny on the Spot" with refilling coffee. I had the breakfast burrito which was probably the best I've ever had. My wife had Potato Pancakes which we wouldn't really recommend. If haven't made it to this west side staple you should bookmark this spot now! We have dined here several times and it never disappoints. The staff is always friendly and efficient, and the food is great! This neighborhood diner is open for both breakfast and lunch. For breakfast, you can't go wrong with a skillet. And for lunch make sure you have a cup of their dill pickle soup. Sounds strange but it's awesome! If you love pickles and you love soup, you will devour this. The only downside (which is maybe an upside??), is that the diner is small so there is usually a wait. But don't worry, there are benches and friendly patrons. It's worth the wait! read more

Their polish dishes always satisfy... polish and breakfast, does it get any better?! I've been there about 5x and I've never been disappointed. I've heard others say it "wasn't all that", but they were the non risk taking people I know and they probably wouldn't order the way I do... they are the mr burger types anyway... 4.35 Stars - We were here on a Thursday at 10:30am so we did not have a wait - I've been on the weekend before and have just left because the wait was so long - french toast is the best in the area, cinnamon bread and mix is out of this world - the sausage links are phenomenal and are quite filling - I had the 3rd street and that included 3 whole pieces of French toast and 3 sausage links, more then enough for one person - the old lady had the "hungry" with a biscuit and honey which she just loves but couldn't eat half of it! Went for breakfast today and fairly busy. One booth by back door open. Wait staff did not seat us in this booth. Rather made us wait and wait. Perhaps it is because it was directly across from the wait station and they wanted to keep it clear for themselves. However I do not believe that is how the owner would prefer his/her staff to conduct business. Maybe a review and proper training of wait staff is in order. read more

Was on a trip from Detroit staying in Grand Rapids and was looking for a good breakfast spot. I came here due to the reviews, but they were very misleading. The service was absolutely terrible. The hostess was extremely rude and lazy. There was a long wait, and when I told the hostess I'm going to the car for a second she told me I would lose my spot in line, even though I will be right outside. The food was mediocre, nothing special about it and definitely not worth the wait. I would have given more stars if they had better service but due to the terrible service and the long wait I would not recommend this place to anyone. read more
