Super glad for vegan fare but the sandwich we picked was super bland. For $14, expected a little better in terms of flavor and nutrition. The vegan BLT had no flavor - some fried tempeh, unseasoned tomato and handful of salad leaves, with some mayo. Deep fried mushrooms were super crispy but lacked any depth of flavor - had to douse them in the side sauce. Service was speedy and the space looked great inside. Vegans, bring some hot sauce.

I went here with a friend of mine after a day hike. What a cool little place. They have an arcade game that you can play and literally hundreds of different board games. I had a grilled cheese sandwich that was pretty damn good.

We calm in to take a quick coffee break around 4 pm and most places around the town were closed, but thankfully because we landed in this gem. You walk in to a water stream right below you- literally. They have a glass floor so you can see it and hear it. They also have tons of games to play and hang out. They have coffees, booze, and food. The decor is super cute to. Must check it out

We stayed overnight in Dunsmuir last weekend before heading home. The hotel we stayed at recommended The Wheelhouse, as did the record store. The site is currently undergoing a remodel, so it's only open for take out only. There is outdoor seating, but because it's on a hill/slope, your sitting at an angle. You go up to the door and there's a window. Someone will answer the door and you place your order. The menu's are on the window and wow, the beer menu is quite extensive. There are sandwiches available and some vegan options as well. We decided to split a BLT (good idea on a hot day). We took our order back to our hotel and ate int he lobby. Good sandwich and beer! Definitely a go to place the next time we visit!

What a terrific place. Uniquely special! Service was fast and friendly. There are walls full of board games you can play - I've never seen such a variety. To top it all off the food is delicious and plentiful! (We'll be sharing a sandwich next visit.). I'd read on someone else's review that they'll stop back whenever they go through Dunsmuir - we will too! Oh, and there's a stream running through the building! I told you it was unique!

What a surprise to find... A delightful (a bit "hipster" for lack of better words) cafe in a side street in a tiny town in the middle of nowhere. My apologies to the people of Dunsmuir, I am aware that description might be miss interpreted, but honestly, that remoteness perception is what makes your cute town compelling to city folks in search of a get-away... in any case, this cafe is an oasis of coziness beckoning you inside during their wet mountain winter. The locale is packed with a great selection of Belgian beers, a completely unexpected menu (muscles in white wine or beer, seriously) a welcoming staff, brand new unique board games, a music stage, and even a classic home-made arcade with 1000s of classic games for the kids (mercifully with the sound off)... According to the owner, it is all inspired by similar places from his hometown Philadelphia. It also has a hidden treasure in the floor between a couple of tables. I will not reveal for the sake of mystery... find it on your own!

Great food, service is far above expectations and the ambiance is lovely! They have Belgium's that I have a hard time finding anywhere else, there is a window in the floor to view the creek that runs down the mountain to the river. When it's not busy you can hear the creek under the building. It's a very special place that we will frequent often. Also the employees especially Will are just amazingly positive, informative and friendly!

An excellent stop along the five for dinner. It also happened to be Friday trivia night! I had a classic Philly sandwich with fries and a draft beer. The beer was nice, no complaints. The Philly was done excellent. Came to me still nice and hot and melty. The bread was just right for a Philly and the thing was HUGE! It was pretty much two. The fries were handcut and cooked well. The staff were super friendly and welcoming. The decor was really cute and colorful and the place was super clean and comfortable.

Lucky enough to be here during the first snow storm of the season! Walked to this wonderful place from our Air BnB. Service was top notch and we loved enjoying our delicious breakfast while watching the snow. Will be returning for dinner!! Edit: Returned for dinner and everything was amazing. The staff here is wonderful and we had a great time playing video games from the 80s/90s.

I suggest you find this gem in downtown Dunsmuir. (formally the Brown Trout) Besides making the most awesome Philly sandwiches, breakfast served all day, tofu for the wife and the deep fried mushrooms being on point, they also have a tremendous selection of beers in the room adjacent to the dining area. Rumor has it the owner hails from Philadelphia and that explains the Philly sandwich perfection thing. We ranted, raved, got all starry eye and gushed compliments to the friendly staff. On our drive back to Redding, still taking about our experience, we realized we forgot to tip! That is simply the worst...unforgivable. We plan on going up soon and they must accept a 40% tip and our deepest apologies. Such a good restaurant that deserves better guest than us. Of course we'll have to order another sandwich. LOL

We each ordered a beer (they brew their own) and they were outstanding! We each ordered the Reuben sandwich with the German potato salad. Sandwiches were huge and overfilled. Only issue was the corned beef was that it was not cut across the grain which made it very chewy. I told the waitress that it would have been a great sandwich if the corned beef had been cut correctly. She said she would share that with the cook. Loved the atmosphere, food and beer. Highly recommend!

We settled on the brewery thinking it would have a variety of foods to choose from. It is a very modest place with some outdoor and indoor seating. We were greeted by our server who brought us menus and water pretty quickly. The menu was not super extensive. We settled on burgers. My daughter ordered the Wagyu burger and I ordered the special (Smokey burger). Our choices of sides were Mesquite BBQ Kettle Chips and German potatoes (chopped up potatoes mixed in Dijon mustard). We thought it was odd that they didn't ask us how we wanted our burgers cooked. It took longer than we expected to get our food considering it wasn't super busy. When the food did come out, we noticed that the burgers were big and looked pretty tasty!! The German potatoes were pretty flavorless and a little more al dente than my daughter liked. She didn't end up eating them at all. The chips were literally just BBQ chips. The burgers were actually really good. The bun was the highlight - crispy and buttery. The meat seemed to be just a cooked standard frozen patty. My daughter ordered avocado and after she had eaten almost half the burger she realized there wasn't any. No one checked on us the whole time. The final bill was $45 and we didn't even order any drinks.
