When I asked for salt, the employee said he didn't think they had any. The chicken strips and french fries were pretty good. This is hands down my favorite place to eat in Springfield. They have fresh flavorful dishes that are super budget friendly. The owners are wonderful and you can tell by how happy all their servers are. Always new and fun things, but a solid staple of delightful dishes are always there. Yes, the yellow truck. Yes, the burnt-out parking lot on Glenstone and Chestnut. I know. There used to be that big antique store there, had a lot of large, polished wooden furniture..you know...I dunno, I think that place became a car-graphics spot for a while...No not IN that building, but you know...next to it. But the Wheelhouse moves. But today, it was there. Most likely, it will be there when you want to eat: lunch and dinner. Sure people have mentioned it has tasty food. But HOW does it have tasty food make goods? This, you need to know: Tacos! Big tacos. Tacos with lots of things. Sweet meat: not sweet breads, sweet meats. Beef. Flank steak? Flank steak. Marinated in a dark sweetness, then cooked on a hot top. Plus guac. Good guac, with hunks of fresh veggies in it. No quac paste. STOP EATING GUAC PASTE. Also. Queso fresco on top. That's the powdery looking taste snow that is not powdered sugar. Cilantro, FRESH cilantro. Lots of things. Fresh, fluffy corn tortillas (those are things). The Veggie Taco: zucchini squash, actually edible re fried beans, onions, cilantro, the fresco again, red or green sauce, you choose, but choose. Saucy salsa and paper thin chips on the side. And a cabbage dip thing that approximates coleslaw without all the heart-limiting goodness. And for how much? 6$. Six. Dollars. The box weighed a solid 1.5 pounds. No scale to verify this, only feeling. Trust me. I didn't try anything else because I was trying to "eat light". I'm glad I didn't attempt such a foolish endeavor my first time. There will be more times. Why not 5 stars? Again, I did not try anything else. Also, I am going to complain that, FOR ME, the tacos were too big and too messy. I say this only because my veggie taco tortilla was split in twain when I tried to pick it up and eat it after my sweet meat taco. Then all the toppings took advantage of the hull breach and dove into my to-go box. Had I not been cognizant of my inability to eat cleanly, this would have landed in my lap. However, the damage was done, I was unable to finish it a-la-taco-style. It was still delicious, but I could actually use smaller portions...I could also get more things if they were smaller. Finally-I wanna drink a beer with this food. Badly. Next time I'll BMOB. Can you bring beer to this parking lot? I dunno. I think I'll try. And my interaction with the shop keep was pleasant. I'm not generally a "food truck" kind of guy and Springfield isn't really a "food truck" kind of city. That could totally be changing. The food was affordable, and plentiful. The service was prompt and super friendly. They have vegetarian and vegan options on the menu! No special ordering required. Veggie Special Burrito, Peanut Sauce. Yes, and also yes. I made two meals out of 1 burrito and I'm a voracious eater. If you can catch them open (seriously, only 3 hours a day!?) they are well worth lunch-hour traffic on Glenstone. read more

I loooove this place! The first time I went, I got the bulgogi burrito. The thing was HUGE and solo yummy. I went yesterday to try the drunken noodles with the bulgogi but they had already sold out of the beef. Luckily, the owner started asking me what I like and ended up making me some phenomenal drunken noodles with chicken and spicy peanut sauce. Def my fave lunch place. read more

I finally got to go to the Mobile Food Park last night for dinner with three of my very willing friends. The whole experience was fun: dinner from The Wheelhouse truck, dessert from The Aviary truck, and seating in London Calling's double decker bus. DOUBLE DECKER BUS. Did they import it, we ask? We hope so. It was truly a unique experience and I'm so proud of Springfield for making it happen (also, oye, London Calling - I'm coming back for your food ASAP!). So, yes. The Wheelhouse deserves credit for being one rockin' food truck. Although my friends suggested the peanut noodle dish, I decided to go with the drunken noodle, which was simply a styrafoam boxed stuffed to bursting with thick egg noodles, brocooli, and carrots, all soaked with a deliciously thick soy sauce. It was great, and I can't wait to eat my leftovers (the portion was huge for $7!), although I do wish there had been more veggies in it. I tried the peanut noodle dish and thought it was almost as good, but I'm not a huge peanut person anymore, so I was glad with the pick I made. They also sell Jarritos - be still, my beating heart. I'm excited to come back and try more of their items, but they left a super first impression. read more

We have pineapple fried riced with sweet beef and wheel drunken noodle. We also got chance to try some of their new house made sauce: Samba, noodle sauce and peanut sauce. I am really interested in the noodle sauce, the sweet and sour taste and also the strong flavor of lemon grass make the sauce perfect. I like it and highly recommend it for other ones. read more

I love food trucks. The wheelhouse has some really good food. Especially if you are wanting to grab and go. I have had the drunken noodles and the pineapple fried rice. I was extremely dissapointed in thr fried rice, pretty much drunken noodles with rice instead of noodles, and about 4 small peices of pineapple. This was basically some rice with soy sauce and a bunch of the drunken noodles veg. It was good but not what i had in mind. Anyways rant over. The wheelhouse is really great and they always have fresh food made to order! I love coming here on my lunch break on a beautiful day! read more

It was amazing. The chips were warm, and the bean dip was super flavorful! For my meal, I got the pineapple chicken rice. The chicken was super flavorful, and the rice was cooked perfectly. Just tried the veggie drunken noodles. I am not a huge noodle fan, but I tried them at the recommendation of a coworker. They were amazing! I had them with spice level 3 and it was just about perfect for me. They were full of flavor and had a great balance between the heat and the taste. A real knock-out restaurant. Run by an artisan chef from SoCal, the Wheelhouse is by far one of the best restaurants in Springfield. Despite being located in the confusingly named "VIB" hotel, it offers a good atmosphere with excellent, cost effective food. Every meal is a piece of art, and they taste just as good! I worked there for 2 years, and I never got tired of the amazing cuisine. They offer vegan and gluten-free versions of most dishes, and make almost all the food themselves. The girl behind the counter was super sweet and friendly (and cute I might add) The food options were affordable The food options were very creative, I love the twist of Mexican and Thai together. Update: Went back for another dish. This time I ordered the Green Mojo Burrito and a Peanut Chicken Burrito for my boss. They were both very good; but I must say the portions are huge! I could have easily saved half for dinner (but I didn't). They have also started making an Indian hush puppy that is, for lack of a better term, addictive! Make sure you get some peanut sauce to dip it in. They say the Drunken Noodles and the Pad Thai are the most popular but everything smells so good when you walk up that you'll have a hard time deciding. I liked the drunken noodles but have not been back for any of the other dishes. It's worth a try but remember you'll be sitting outside if you don't order take away. If you have had your fill of Italian, Mexican, Asian buffet and drive through burger joints then try something off the beaten path. This is supposed to be Thai Mexican fusion. Whatever! It's made fresh for each order and you can ask for it mild or hot. I chose medium hot and could feel my scalp sweating. Yes, I'm into that sort of thing. So go by and try now! read more
