Having recently moved to Springfield from Texas where Tex-Mex reigns, it has been difficult for my husband to find what he is looking for. When we go to a New Mexican restaurant, he orders 2 beef enchiladas to make sure his favorite entree is made to his liking. His comment about the enchiladas at Prima's was, "Closest thing I've found to Texas so far." I've been looking for chile relleno that wasn't fried, and Prima's came through with flying colors on that hunt. Service was fast and good. From the moment we walked in, the vibe was warm, welcoming, and full of life--especially with the gorgeous pothos plants vining everywhere . Marisa, the owner, is incredible: friendly, passionate, and clearly pouring her heart into this place. I love supporting women-owned businesses, and Primas makes it easy to do so. I had the Al Pastor Carnitas Bowl, and wow--impressively perfect. You know when a dish delivers even better than what you imagined? That was this. My partner ordered the Better Than Burrito with fresh jalapeños, and it absolutely lived up to the name. Pro tip: ask for the spicy tomatillo salsa--hands down one of the best I've had. Huge shout-out to Yazmine, our bartender, who provided truly excellent service and made the whole experience even better. Love your margs!!! Visited Springfield, Mo and tried Primas Mexican food. Didn't have a lot of time to enjoy a great meal but Primas was very authentic and reasonably priced. Primas has seating to accommodate and size of party hut do recommend calling ahead. Very stylish Mexican restaurant with great food. My wife and I went there for lunch and were greeted by friendly staff and very savory lunch menu with reasonable prices. I had the Burrito de Carnitas which I didn't realize would be smothered with cheese sauce. I normally don't like that but this cheesy sauce was scrumptious! I also tried the Rancheros beans which was so tasty with a hint of chorizo in it. My wife got the chicken enchilada which she raved over. It's a nice place for that special night out. Right away I was a little surprised that there weren't more people eating dinner in here! My guess is the location maybe isn't super convenient for people who actually live in the area, but I don't know. I thought it was good! The chips were on the thinner side which I like. I was nearly falling asleep at any moment after a long day, and the chips alone seemed to be just the fuel that I needed to make me feel much better! The salsa was also nice. I liked the consistency that was the right combination between smooth and chunky. I also thought it was a good amount of spiciness, and I didn't even ask if they had a spicier option like I do a lot of the time. I ordered the San Miguel enchiladas. The description in the menu really caught my attention because it mentioned a "light lemon and sour cream sauce".... mmmm! I liked the sauce a lot. Not super sour but a bit, and nice and creamy too. It also wasn't too thick, which I liked. The chicken inside was also good and wasn't too dry. I thought it was interesting how there wasn't a reformed beans option (just pinto or black) because that's just what I'm used to. I did realize that the pinto beans were a bit mushier like refried beans though, so maybe they were and just weren't listed that way? Anyway, I got the black beans and rice. Both were good but nothing necessarily super memorable about either. There weren't lots of people working there, but they were all kind and welcoming. The restaurant was clean and wasn't too noisy (although again there weren't many people there). The overall atmosphere was cool too. Went here this afternoon for dinner, I had a chicken chimichanga and a ground beef taco. The taco was not very flavorful with the ground beef having no real flavor. The chimichanga was better with queso cheese, smothered over it, the size was small for a chimichanga. Most times the salsa and chips are good enough to just eat those and call it an evening, but the salsa (mild) was I believe just crushed tomatoes, no cilantro, and no onions. The server was very nice and friendly. The price for both items was very reasonable but don't think I'll be back. read more

Great food: my signature burrito was awesome..ground beef. The rancheros beans with chorizo were very good, and a flavorful and unique option vs refried beans. I'm sorry but this place is starting to go downhill. The food used to be pretty good but sometime over the last year (it's been about that long since I've last been here I think) it's gotten a little bleh. Another thing is now instead of just getting free water like every other restaurant in this nation does, they bring it out to you in a bottled water container and charge you for it. 12/29/2023 visiting from out of state. Truly an accident that the FULL glass of water was dumped straight into my sons lap. Ok things happen. The waitress seemed to then rush us out of getting boxes and our ticket. Then insult to mishap the manger did not even compensate the meal. He said he took the appetizer off and offered my son a $5 gift card. I've been eating here for years starting first with their old Chesterfield Village site, then settling into their S. Glenstone location. There are many ways to judge a restaurant: strictly food taste & quality; the atmosphere & service; creativity & longevity. Primas scores consistently high in each aspect. Their setting on Glenstone is well-balanced with the indoor, outdoor, bar area with TV and capability of handling larger parties in the back room. The food is consistently superior across the menu. Perhaps other Mexican restaurants may excel in a particular dish but lack the overall consistency - quality that you can bank on. A restaurant you have full confidence it with no reservation in recommendation. I've settled on some standards: The Queso Flameado with Chorizo & warm tortillas is an exceptional appetizer which can be easily shared; the traditional guacamole with their unique chips is a must; & the simple Fajita Nachos with both chicken & beef is a classic share. With the variations in fajitas, burritos & enchiladas, it's difficult to pick a favorite entre, but the Enchiladas Guastecas with chicken & spinach, and the spicy El Diablo Burrito are go-to's. While individual tastes vary, I would challenge anyone to find a more varied, appealing, upscale Mexican menu in Springfield...so explore! Tips: Try the optional whole black beans instead of pintos paired with rice as a side; opt for a pitcher of margaritas rather than individual glasses when in a party of 4 or more; substitute Reposado versus silver or gold tequila, or upgrade to the Cadillac Margarita in lieu of the house for a smoother, more enjoyable cocktail. It took the bartender 10 minutes to even acknowledge me. I was one of 3 people at the bar. I order a beer and water. He had to write it down. That should have been my first red flag. It took another 5 min to get a draft beer. Water came about 10 minutes later. The bartender finally took my order, chips and salsa and chicken fajitas. At the same time, a couple sits at the other end of the bar. Bartender takes their order. After about 5 min, they get chips and salsa. Another 5 min later they get their dinner. At this time it has been 25 minutes since I sat down. I would attribute the crap service to lack of servers but I'd be wrong. Place has all sorts of servers AND the couple at the other end already had all their food. Bartender is terribly slow. Avoid this place. It looked dirty. It is definitely mismanaged. read more

Although everything on the menu seems to be edible, the flavors aren't particularly inspired - and neither are the lethargic staff, who seem wholly uninterested in their work. During my visit, I sampled the signature Primas Nachos, which were a semi-warm, soggy mess, and a chicken dish that was marginally better. Chips and salsa were delivered to my table after ordering, which was kind of weird, and neither were all that flavorful. My bill wasn't necessarily expensive, but the rather blasé experience made it seem pricey all the same - and, combined with the other factors mentioned here, probably means I won't go back. read more

If I could put 0 I would. To Start with the drinks and appetizers , I ordered a michelada and it had to have been the nastiest one I've ever had it tasted sour and just all around bad . The queso is super thick and cold, the elote bites were pretty good for the most part. We got our food and everything with steak was dry and over cooked and we had asked for medium. I am to have knee surgery soon and she reminded me that Prima's can deliver to my house while I am recovering and can't get out. The food is horrible it looks like they went to the store and microwaved the food then let it sit just long enough to get cold then when they bring it out they ask if you need anything to go with your "meal" I ask for sour cream and our server brought it out as I finished eating she then apologized for taking so long but yet still charged for it.
