Cool little place that we stopped at during our trip to Denver. The wings were pretty good, the pretzel bites were good, and everyone seemed to enjoy the jalapeño popper dip. My girl had a burger called the slopper which came open faced and she wasn't used to that. She substituted the simple salad for her fries and enjoyed that. She said the burger had good flavor but she didn't like the "no bun" I had the Classic Cheeseburger and I added bacon and also had mine with thousand island dressing. The table we sat at was a little strange as it was kind of a circle booth but the table had corners at the back side that made it hard to get out of. The bun on my burger was not very good, being dry and seemingly stale but the burger itself was good. Not a bad experience otherwise, and the joint was cool. read more

After months of driving of past this place, we decided to stop for a small celebratory dinner. The staff were so friendly! And oh my god, the cocktails were amazing! As someone who is a bit picky about what she drinks, I was pleasantly surprised on how good all the drinks were. The BRamble might become my all-time favorite drink to get. It had a perfect hint of sweetness and vanilla to it while being refreshing. We decided to go with Fries & Country Steak Gravy. It was delicious, and the fries were cut so perfectly to scoop out some of the sausages in the gravy. For entires, we tried the ribeye philly cheesesteak and the mushroom swiss burger. I can finally suggest the biscuits. Which is important because it's in the name of the joint. They are nice and layered and not too dry--a common problem with biscuits here in the mile high city (add a little extra buttermilk and cook it a little longer, BTW). I tried Whiskey Biscuit during happy hour for drinks and an appetizer and ended up staying for dinner as well. The appetizer I tried was the jalapeño popper dip which is served with toasted bread. I really enjoyed the cream cheese beas, jalapeño popper dip, but was surprised that it had some sweetness like jalapeño jam instead of being spicy. I thoroughly enjoyed it. On there regular menu, they have a burger option with the same jalapeño popper dip that was recommended by our server. Instead, I opted for the Philly cheesesteak, which was served with french fries and. aux jus I really enjoyed the cheesesteak, even though I would consider it more similar to a French dip The service experience was exemplary and elevated. I don't know how I have never come here before because I work five minutes away and have seen it numerous times. They are really neat looking on the outside and I love the catchy name they have! We came here for my husbands work function and they were great! We had a bunch of appetizers and then I had the gouda mac and cheese. All of the appetizers we had were awesome, tasted great, and they have a great selection on their menu. The mac and cheese tasted good but the gouda isn't a cheese I would personally look for due to the seriously strong flavor it has. I got a side of fries as well and I know they are just fries but seriously their fries were amazing and I would come back here just for those!! We had around 10 people in the group and our server did an amazing job! They were always checking on everyone and making sure you had a drink or if you wanted something else to eat. I truly don't know what to say about this place. First, I should mention I have been on a mission to find decent food in the Denver area, and have had so little luck that I am starting to get depressed about it. I was on my way back from Manitou Springs, was starving, saw this place, and it looked inviting from the outside, so I went in. I was immediately pleasantly surprised by the ambience and decor. It has lots of what looks like reclaimed wood, large bar with bottles that go up to the ceiling. I sat for a while at the bar, the bartender said hello, but kept on with his business. I just sat and sat... finally he came by and asked what I wanted and I shrugged and said, "Can I have a menu?" He points to a carved wood piece in front of me, that has a QR carved into it. I would have literally never seen it if he hadn't pointed it out (I feel that should be the first thing bartenders say when someone sits down, but whatevs...) I decide to get food to go and have a glass of wine while I wait. This is where it gets really weird. There were maybe 2 or 3 people at the bar, clearly regulars because of the conversation -- and it soon became super obvious that I was not wanted there. The bartender made that very clear. There was esoteric conversation between him, the 2 or so customers, and one of the servers also came and joined. One of the customers got up and had private conversations with the bartender and the server towards the side of the bar - - and with every interaction with the bartender, it was clear he wanted me to finish my wine, take my food to go, and go. Even as he is putting my wine in front of me, he is facing and talking to the other customer. All of it was the weirdest vibe imaginable. I could only surmise that this is a neighborhood bar and newcomers are not welcome. In the middle of chatting with this customer, the bartender comes over and says "Are you doing ok for the moment?" Weird way to ask if someone wants another glass of wine. I don't know. I walked away feeling grossed out. Oh, and even though he was incredibly inattentive, all I did was take out my credit card, and within a half a second, he had my bill in front of me. I didn't have to ask for the bill, he was just so aware that I took out my credit card that he had that bill in front of me before I had barely removed it from my wallet. Weird. All of it, weird. I drove away resolving that this was a neighborhood place, and I am not a part of that neighborhood, and just steer clear of this place. It was like I walked into a private conversation that no one wanted me to be privy to. But here is the rub. I drove home and the food was pretty frickN good. And as I say, I have had the cruddiest restaurant food experience here in Denver, that this was a sad revelation. Food pretty damn good (I got the french dip, and it was pretty damn tasty, and the fries were so good I didn't have to put anything on them) , decor welcoming and aesthetically pleasing, but no one but regulars are welcome. For some reason tonight was my first time here. My mushroom and Swiss burger was awesome, and cooked perfectly. And the fries (will remind you of British chips) were great too. My boyfriend's fried chicken and gravy was awesome (though a little smaller chicken portion than we expected). Last, they have some great local whiskey cocktails and my boyfriend was really happy with their beer selection. We'll be back! We've lived less than a mile from here for almost a year but just now tried it for the first time. We went on a Saturday evening around 6pm and it was about a 10 minute wait. My boyfriend got the Kolsh beer which he said was really good. I got the pineapple cider which was fine, but it just tasted like a pineapple seltzer and I felt it was definitely overpriced... $9 for a cider? If it hadn't been for my dyslexia and originally reading the price as $6 on the menu and not realizing the real price until the check came, I wouldn't have ordered it. Oh well. I then got the fried green tomato BLT and my boyfriend got the Jalapeño popper burger. The BLT was good, I don't know if I've ever actually had fried green tomatoes before so that was fun. My boyfriends burger was unfortunately very over cooked, with no pink at all. The best part was the fries which were awesome, I'd never seen fries like those before! The other thing is the place was SO HOT. Granted, it was a 100 degree day, but their AC was hardly pumping we were both sweating through our meal. If I could, I would give it 3.5/5. read more

When we were running an errand last week for my Mom, Mrs. Whiskeyfellow and I drove past a place called The Whiskey Biscuit. The fascinating name grabbed our attention. As we continued our business, Mrs. Whiskeyfellow read up on what it was. The Whiskey Biscuit is a whiskey bar that serves food. Something that we honed in on was how gluten-free friendly the menu is. Pretty much anything on it can be made gluten-free, and there were plenty of options from which to choose. Last night, we took the opportunity to visit Whiskey Biscuit and, well, let's say if we ever moved back to Denver, I might consider direct-depositing my paycheck there. The bar is fully stocked with most of what you'd be interested in, including all the allocated stuff (Pappy, Blanton's, Weller, etc.). It is primarily American whiskeys, although my eye also caught some of my favorite Scotches. They'll also make craft cocktails as well as the basics. I opted for a flight of Colorado-only whiskeys. It included a pour of A.D. Laws Four Grain Bourbon, Distillery 291 Small Batch Rye, and Boulder Spirits Peated American Single Malt. Did I have a favorite? Sure, but the contest was unfair. After all, Boulder Spirits Peated took my 2021 Best American Whiskey of the Year award. My second favorite was the Distillery 291 Rye, followed by the A.D. Laws Bourbon. With everything on the menu, I was craving a good burger. I selected a mushroom swiss burger and fries. The patty had a Bourbon glaze and didn't come with any of the annoying stuff I hate (lettuce and tomato); that was a plus. The bacon came from Mrs. Whiskeyfellow's Chicken Club, which she enjoyed (but doesn't like bacon - yes, I know, but she's absolutely a keeper regardless). A friend and I were craving a Monte Cristo and I searched who made one and came across the Whiskey Biscuit. Called to confirm it was still on the menu and hustled over to enjoy one. It was a Saturday night at about 7pm and the place was nearly dead...which worried us. We ordered drinks (a beer and a vodka press, both fine) and the Brussel sprout app and a Monte Cristo with fries to share. The sprouts came out first and were amazing. Cooked beautifully, cut smaller than most often served, topped with goat cheese and a pomegranate reduction, they were just the right amount of sweet and savory and very delicious. The Monte Cristo was slightly different than normal, not entirely dunked in batter and fried...instead it was more like French toast top and bottom (still flecked with powdered sugar) and served with both raspberry jam and syrup. We passed on the syrup but enjoyed the raspberry jam and the sand which very much. Now, about those fries. Why have I never seen anyone cut fries like this before? Shaped like steak fries but cut thin, they were excellent. Just the right amount of crispy and greasy, super good. Service was good, the waiter a little young and inexperienced but friendly, polite and tried hard. Not sure why this place wasn't busy, we'll be back to see if the rest of the menu is this good. read more

Not many places merit a 5 star for me, however,this place is great. The service is good. The food is delicious and the taps are plentiful for a small restaurant. I had the fried chicken and gravy entree and hu by had the ribeye sandwich and fries. Both were fabulous. We took a slight detour from DIA to avoid traffic and ended up at the Whiskey Biscuit. Very cool concept to have lots of food and retail options housed in a historic building. Minus the price (kinda true of most places inside the Stanley Marketplace, but this could be my budget speaking, lol), the food was great. Carb overload. As a keto girl, this entire experience was a fabulous cheat day. The biscuits are other worldly and the pancakes were massive. We wanted to bring our leftovers home but didn't. Seeking a brunch hot-spot to take my friend and her out of town visitor for a catch-up sesh and some brunch; we made our way to Whiskey Biscuit to do just that. Whiskey Biscuit def delivered! SPACE/ATMOSPHERE: Hellooo exposed brick! Whiskey Biscuit totes delivers that trendy repurposed restaurant space that Coloradians love. There's local art for sale on the walls, a vintage fridge turned water dispenser, and a variety of seating including booths, tables, and at the bar. While it's layout is a tad small, the space is set up well to use as much of it as possible - the ultra high ceilings and huge windows help to make it feel larger too. EATS: While the menu is smaller than most brunch menus I've seen - it def brings the goods! While my friends noshed on the Skillet Cake (German farmer style pancake batter baked in a cast iron skillet with whiskey-butter n' syrup) and the Club Benny (sliced tomato, avocado, bacon, poached eggs, topped with hollandaise) - I opted for the BBQ Benedict (pulled pork, poached eggs, bbq sauce, topped with hollandaise and crispy onions). Yum! So glad I decided to try this fun and savory take on a classic. DRINKS: Holy drink menu! Whiskey Biscuit def likes to imbibe! During our visit we sipped on those traditional boozy brunch favorites including a couple traditional mimosas, a delish bloody Mary, and a raspberry sherbet mimosa. Yum! They were all spot on. Two of us also took advantage of the snow day special for $2 Irish coffees. Yum! They also feature a TON of Colorado local liquors and brews! SERVICE: Our server was incredibly personable. He checked with us to ensure that our meals were to our liking and also made sure that our glasses were never empty. The latter of which is def needed with our little group! We recently came here on a Sunday for brunch. We were pleased we were able to be seated right away. The interior has a great look with exposed brick and a gorgeous bar. I also really appreciated how roomy it feels inside they did a great job at spreading out the tables to make it feel like you have a lot of space and aren't crammed in. I got the French toast and who I was with got the BBQ Benedict. While we both loved the food we were disappointing with how long it took for our food to arrive. We were in town for a concert at Red Rocks. Decided to have brunch here before getting ready for the day. We sat at the beautiful bar and had amazingly good service. Cristi had the perfect pear drink. It's so good. Pear taste with some heat, an amazing combo. For food she had the green Chile bowl and I had the fried chicken and gravy. Both did how're so amazing. Between the drinks and eats, I'm kind of glad I was just visiting. If I lived in the Denver area I would simply have to just bring them my paycheck every other week. I've had this spot bookmarked for quite some time now (as it's in my hood!) and with the father in law in town from NZ ,we figured brunch was in order to kick off the weekend! The expansive patio sits on S Broadway, perfect for people watching and soaking up the sun! SERVICE: Our server Ryan, was so cute, sweet and beyond friendly. We were seated at a high top table near the bar and large windows, which was so welcoming and nice! He gladly brought over tasters of the unique brews on tap, and provided us with great tips and tricks to navigating the menu. We saw him frequently, chatted about the biz and left with a great experience. FOOD: HOLY HELL. so good! I wish I was kidding! We opted for a variety of different dishes all featuring something different! The hubs tried their famous Biscuits and Gravy (their biscuits are homemade, fluffy and oh so delish!) which was surprisingly light! Add a side egg, and you're golden! Although I'm not the biggest fan of deli meats, I decided to break out of my comfort zone and try the fried Bologna sandwich topped with lettuce, tomato, onion, bacon and an egg on texas toast, which was outstanding. YES, it was salty AF, but great! The last dish experienced was the (odd, yet amazing dish) Steak and French Toast - which was an excellent cut of roast paired with sweet french toast topped with fresh maple syrup! My favorite part?
