I don't usually go out to brooklyn much for bars but I thought this was a cool spot. Came here with a group of companies workers after bowling nearby. If you call yourself the "Whiskey" Brooklyn, you better be able to back it up. And by that, I mean you had better have an knock-out whiskey list. Does Whiskey Brooklyn have one? Nope. Not really even close. I expected some hard-to-find single malts, rare vintages, or perhaps an expansive list of scotches, but their list was just paltry for a place hanging their hat on whiskey. And I'm still kind of confused by the concept of a "pickle back". For those unfamiliar, it's a pickle in a shot of whiskey used to eliminate the taste and burn of the whiskey it's in. What the hell? If you don't like whiskey, why did you come here in the first place? I understand locals really like it, but I'm looking to enjoy my whiskey, not drown it in brine and vinegar. On the other hand, their house brew (likely something concocted by the next-door Brooklyn Brewery) was actually decent, and they've got a pretty cool vibe going on downstairs with a bunch of different arcade-style games. Unexpectedly excellent sports bar that brings out the sports fan in even the most hardened too-cool hipster! Of course it doesn't hurt that this place also serves above average bar food including fried pickles, and I can get my Jameson and Ginger with a cherry in a pint glass for $7! high five! $2 coat check in the winter, and they take reservations for large groups. Wheelchair accessibility is questionable since you have to descend 2 flights of stairs to get to the bar from street level. read more

The Whiskey Brooklyn is separated into a upstairs more "intimate" bar that's a bit more upscale whereas the downstairs is where the arcade games and club music gets blasted throughout the venue. I really enjoyed the upstairs bar, there were less drunk people. Just people hanging out and having a couple drinks. When we moved downstairs, it turned into a retro bar with a huge venue to hang out in. There was skeeball, shuffleboard, and arcade games. When there's basketball hoops, of course we would play! So we headed over, and by the time we were done playing, the entire bar was crowded. So watch out, it'll get crowded! There's two stories, huge bars, games, places to dance, places to sit, the bathroom system is efficient, the service is quick and friendly, never a cover and the bouncers are pleasant which is something I've learned is quite rare. Some of the best wings I've EVER had. I have to start by staying that. We ordered a mix of buffalo and bbq. Restaurant opens late. The bartenders are attentive and friendly. The drinks are great. The atmosphere is energetic and loud. Games and music. Open space for dancing and not overly crowded. The prices are reasonable. Oh and the bouncers are pleasant (rare in a NYC). I was able to find parking close by. I'll definitely be returning here. Oh and side bar: there was a drunk guy talking a little too much and too close to my friend and I. the manager (a female) came over to us, asked if we were ok, luckily he was closing his tab, but if not he would have been escorted out. That was very nice, because I've been harassed at bars in the past and NO ONE said a thing and as busy as bartenders are, they are not too busy to notice who walks away with out paying so they are well aware of the crowd and most places no one would say anything. I had to bump Whiskey Brooklyn back up to 4 stars. I recently had a birthday shindig there and it was an awesome time. The manager reserved my party a large corner booth and the waitresses were extremely attentive and nice. The place got a little crowded so you had to muscle your way to get across the bar, but it was a good time none the less. The Whiskey Brooklyn is good on paper and, ostensibly, it should be amazing. It has things I like quite a bit: whiskey, skee ball, beer, bacon, pickles... However, in action, it fails to impress. First of all, a bar with whiskey in its name should know what to do with the spirit, correct? I mean, they have a pretty extensive whiskey/bourbon/rye list and everything. Not the case here. Case in point: I ordered an Old Fashioned with Bulleit bourbon, which if done correctly, is a simple, smooth cocktail (dash of bitters, bit of sugar, peel of lemon. Boom). But the bartender did a whole bunch of muddling (so it was pinker than pink) and then served it straight up in a tumbler. It tasted terrible, so I asked for ice and he poured it into a pint glass. Old Fashioneds should not be served in a pint glass, for real. I couldn't finish it (but I pretended I liked it, because the bartender was very nice). (We left soon after a round of skee ball and went upstairs to the Counting Room, where my Old Fashioned was fabulous). The food? Eh. My Buffalo Fingers ($8) were greasy and the Jalapeno Poppers ($8) were bland. In general, the food menu is great drunk food, when you aren't aware of what you are eating and you crave salty, fatty, fried stuff (like a bowl of bacon, $4. Okay, that is kind of awesome). The shuffle board and the skee ball are pretty rad, but the atmosphere really blows. Definitely bro/ho central, devoid of personality, and super generic. It's like a little bit of Midtown Manhattan in Brooklyn and to me that is a very bad thing. read more

I like whiskey. Actually, no. I LOVE whiskey. Rye, bourbon, scotch. I love it all! I love whiskey on the rocks, neat, with coke, ginger, shaken, stirred. So this place and it's sister establishments are the places for me. The flight is the way to go. For 18 dollars you can sample 3 different whiskey's. It actually comes out cheaper than ordering any other glasses alone. Make sure to ask for the whiskeys not on the menu. They're written by pencil on a little piece of loose leaf paper, but there's quite the selection on that list as well. They also have some of the best yet simplest bar food. A huge basket of bacon and a paper bag filled bag of tater tots is the way to go. read more

I have had some of the most memorable times in my tenure here in Williamsburg at Whiskey Brooklyn. I think the most "liked" picture of me on facebook involved a very involved dance sesh on the tops of the booths (which I learned we weren't allowed to do, so I can't endorse that). A very significant moment happened here for me actually, my first pickleback. In retrospect, it might have been a mistake, because I've come to learn that this is one of the better ones that I've had, if not my favorite. It set the bar way too high. Their food selection is a drunkards dream, bowls o' bacon, tater tots, and most other things that can be fried. And the kitchen is open nice and late. And if all of that weren't enough, they have shuffleboard, skeeball, and that basketball thing that they had at chuck e cheese. I am a huge fan of Whiskey Tavern in Chinatown so I was excited to check this place out. It's much bigger - not sure how crowded it gets - we came by fairly early on a Saturday evening. Stumbled across this place after touring (& drinking at) Brooklyn Brewery. WOW! The bartenders are just the right amount of nice and cool, and THE FOOD IS AWESOME. Yes, I've had a couple beers. That DOES NOT impair my ability to judge awesome food. This place has it on lock down: the perfect blend between bar food and actual quality meals. Try the cheesesteak in a wrap instead of bread. CHANGED MY WORLD. I took the bartender's suggestion and added bacon. NOM. NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM!!!! Crispy and delicious, definitely added to the already amazing taste of the philly wrap! I also had a half of my friend's BLT & A, yes delicious avocado and that sandwich killed it as well. You know what else kills it? THE MUSIC. Okay, I'm an 80s baby hooked on alternative rock, and this place does it for me. Radiohead, 311, etc... But not one genre here folks! Now it's Al Green on the speakers! Just plain good jams here, folks. And who can beat video/arcade games?! As their name would suggest, this place does indeed boast a wide selection of whiskeys. They have a variety of drink specials that are always available such as shot & a beer for $10, 6 beers for the price of 5, and "Whiskey Flights" - thematic combinations of three whiskey shots - ranging from $17 to $22. Weeknights are generally pretty quiet, which means a small group of us can play shuffle board for an extended period of time and hang out with a few beers. They also have a small arcade section in the back with skee ball, basketball, and other games. High scores can win you free drinks! When we asked him for the money back, he started to curse at us then proceeded to called security on us. Without questions asked, security came and threw us out. Ok, so this review is mostly about the FREE shuffleboard that is offered here. The overall vibe of this place on a weeknight was pretty lacking, but did i mention FREE shuffleboard??? I'm sure there is a long wait to get on the table on a weekend, but playing this game brings me back to my college bar where they also offered free shuffle board. I can't imagine anywhere in Manhattan offers such a free game to anyone. The drinks here were also pretty strong, though the beer list is pretty weak. i have to say that i absolutely LOVE this place. I go here with my friends ALL the time and I'm completely addicted to the Spicy backs (spicy pickle juice and a shot of whiskey) FRIED Pickles, bowl of bacon and a bag of tatter tots. Every time I want to go out I want to stop by Whiskey Brooklyn because its just that much fun. The place also has the best bartenders EVER. They are fun, awesome and always looking out for us. Also, they have a bunch of games that you can play while getting drunk and the very infamous stripper pole... Just have to say that I've never come out of Whiskey Brooklyn the same way I came in which is sober. I always think that the pickle juice is getting me sober but NOO I'm wrong. My colleague and I were recommended to visit Whiskey to get some Brooklyn Brewing beers since the brewery had a private event going on. I had the Brooklyn Brown which you can get almost anywhere. The bartender was very friendly. Seems like a great bar for millennials and those young at heart. Single seater bathrooms downstairs with an open trough for hand washing. Williamsburg's best low-ranking frat bar. The beer selection is about as diverse as your average rural college's kegger and the atmosphere is just as pleasant. This is good if dudebros in white button downs and faded denim are your type of guy, or gals who've had a little too much and are likely to make a bad decision you'll both inevitably regret are the ones you want to take home. Not sure what's up with the Friday night door guy but my boy couldn't get in because he was wearing camo shorts. I went out and talked to the guy and he said it was policy. NO CAMO POLICY? Please. I told him I had a big group downstairs spending $$ and that should count for something. But he couldn't do anything. I asked him if I could get inside management to agree to let my friend in if that would work. He said ok. Bartenders were busy so I asked a guy to find the manager for some assistance and I just talked to him and told him the deal. He told me to wait downstairs and he'll go up and handle it; my friend came down a few minutes later. But as soon as he entered the bar I heard the guy tell my friend "At 10pm you're going to have to take off your hat." What the fuck? Didn't want to flip a shit because the Knicks were on but these two dudes definitely have issues. Rest of the bar and tenders are cool though. I will absolutely not be coming back. I wish I could say I went in and had a bad time but two of the security guards refused to let us in because he felt we were too drunk. And you know what? That's their right to say so. But where you lose me is when you get disrespectful and tell us to "go get some food and sober up" like we're not adults in our 30s. Denying us service is one thing, being disrespectful is another. We even went down the block to grab a quick bite to oblige and the same security guard told us we "shouldn't have let our boy skip the line." So which is it? Was my friend too drunk or did he skip the line? We're all adults. If we skipped people in the line, say so. If we're a little too drunk, say so. But don't get in my face, have a power trip and take out your frustrations. That's what hookers and Red Dead Redemption is for. read more

I had one of the best nights of my life partying at Whiskey. First of all it looks like a dive bar, but it's not at all. It's got a great downstairs area, shuffleboard (if you're into that. I am not) and ENOUGH ROOM TO DANCE!!! Which is most important to me at any place that I party. I love to dance and I don't want to do it bumping into the guy next to me or in a crowded corner. The music was an awesome mix of pop, rap (I'm talking Koolio and Biggie), and everything in between the people were great, friendly not too creepy and the bartender was fast event though it was crowded. I didn't even have to get trashed to have a good time. After hours of dancing, I had to call it a night but it was a great one. I never party in Williamsburg because every time I've tried, I've never had a good time (besides at Union Pool) because of the annoying faux pretentious airs that every asshole with long hair and a beard puts on around the Bedford stop, but this changed every thing. I'm definitely going to try out more bars in Williamsburg. read more

The Whiskey Brooklyn is this really cool bar located in Williamsburg. The venue itself is huge and they have arcade games and a photo booth section towards the back, near the restrooms. Do you love pickle backs? Then this is definitely the place for you. Don't know what a pickle back is? They also offer spicy backs, which is the same concept, a whiskey shot followed by a pickle juice shot only this time it's filled with spicy goodness. Want to grab a bite to eat? They offer a variety of bar food for you to get your grub on as you drink a beer and watch a game or two. It does tend to get crowded as the night progresses, but if you're at a table then you really don't have to worry about that. You can enjoy the good music, watch a game, and keep enjoying your pickle backs. Also, security at this place tends to be pretty strict. If they see someone getting a bit rowdy or too pushy then they are quick to escort you out. Tip: You can actually make reservations at this bar and reserve a table for a group. I think this is definitely one of my top 5 fave bars in all of New York City! read more

Great place! Came here the other night for a friend's birthday and it was a nice change of pace. I loved the old school video games and that the bathrooms were clean! Any bar that has a clean restroom at 1AM is great in my book. The drinks are large and not too expensive. They have a great selection of Whiskey, which is not my drink, but was interesting to see. They also have a drink called Grandma Joan's Lemonade, or something to that effect. Well, I enjoyed it very much. Some friends thought that it was too bitter, but I liked it. Also, another plus was the bouncer. SUPER NICE! I've been to so many place that the security guards are jerks, but this guy was super nice. Maybe I listen to too much Hot 97 but when I think of Brooklyn.. I think of Crooklyn. I think of crime, scuzzy people, and run down buildings. Needless to say, I really don't go to the area much... I keep my ass grounded. But a few weeks ago a couple of friends and I ventured out to this place as a possible venue for a birthday party. So I grabbed my rosary beads and off we went. I did see some graffiti coated buildings and some broken down areas but overall the area of Williams-burg wasn't nearly as bad as what I had envisioned. After parallel parking, we are about to walk into this place for the first time and a young kid maybe 21-22 years old bursts out of the front door wobbling back and forth like Leon Spinks...and he then preceded to spew into a nearby garbage can. The bouncer followed him out and supervised the whole thing. At this point, I really wasn't sure what the hell I was walking into. But, luckily the place turned out to be really cool. I didn't participate in the games or the stripper pole, but I did drink a lot. Buckets of beer, Tom Dalys, Snakebites - whiskey drink, pickelback shots... yada yada yada. My friends ate hot dogs, bacon, and chicken wings. Whatever you are looking for...this place has it or a close substitute. It was really crowded but no fights. Friendly people ranging from hipsters to good old boys - everyone having a good time. The DJ was spinning tunes from every generation. Overall I had a very good time. I recommend. read more

A great low key bar in Williamsburg. Theme is that of 80s-90s, retro/8-bit era adorned with many classic arcade games. The decor is lacquered wood finish and lots of flat screens playing your favorite scifi movies. They play variety of tunes ranging from top100 to dubstep to your fav 90s pop. Bartenders are super nice and seem to really enjoy working there as well. Also...having a bar with a shuffleboard is always fun! read more
