The vibe here is my absolute favorite and I love that it feels like a cozy cabin in the woods. It's definitely an easy spot to get cozy at and spend a little more time than you intended. Loved to buy a baseball cap, but my head is 61cm and I must have the velcro closure as the plastic snap hats are just too small & cheap for me. They have a counter bar area strategicly set with no chairs where it's comfortable for four 1/4 to 1/2 oz taste, but you don't get too comfortable. The hostess was pleasant, inviting and we honestly enjoyed reviewing the menu of +10 different whiskeys where we need to pick out 4 of them for the standard flight. They had a cross section of proofs between bourbons and ryes with a premixed old fashioned that was made by aging in maple syrup barrels. My wife went for ryes and i did the bourbons. I started with the 80 proof then navigated toward the highlight of the 115-proof. I was pleasantly impressed how drinkable without the burn going down was the 115-proof as it benefits from a sweeter, corn-forward base + cooler aging that results in better integration and less aggressive burn -- it "drinks easier" than the numbers would suggest. Of course, try what you can and it's great when you can share tastes between 2 people all the choices. For me, I found the cast strength aged 6 years 115 proof to be the best.

The manager was our personal bartender for the entire event and the drinks were on point. I had lemon drops and there were so yummy. I was about to get fish and chips but was steered toward the Cubano pork sandwich with french fries. My wife got a caesar salad with romaine instead of kale and we decided to try the fried pickles too. No drinks other than water as we had plans afterward. The positives is the location, the atmosphere and they had all the pub fare you would expect. The only thing that dampened the pleasure was everything the fries, the sandwich, the salad, and even the sauces tastes quite salty to me. My wife mentioned to me seeing red edges on the romaine in her salad typically meaning not as fresh as it should have been. Definitely a nice place for beer drinking in the bar or outside on the patio during these springtime days. Not sure of the root cause of the over seasoning, but I'll ask for lighter next time.

The menu described it as "drive-in" sauce, but the cook said he didn't know what was in it. Instead of no sauce, he put a bunch of mustard on my burger. I ordered no sauce! I've worked in or for restaurants my entire life so I know better than to ever do something like that to a customer. Ever. The fries were the worst part of the experience. They were so undercooked they were soggy and a little nasty oily from whatever they put on them. They were cut way too thick for how little they cooked them, but with the extra oil and being undercooked, they were pretty darn good rewarmed in my air fryer. I'm not a Brussels sprout fan, but my friend substituted them for the fries for a reasonable $4. She really liked them. The only one of us that didn't have the burger had the king salmon. It looked really good, but my friend said it was tough. The piece he gave to me might as well been from a can. Also, it had way too much acetic acid on it I guess in an attempt to make it less tough. Their selection of beer is terrible, but to be fair whiskey is in the name. The beer was $9 for a Coors Light clone. That's too much for a beer that was flat from a glass that wasn't clean enough and from lines that tasted like they weren't cleaned often enough for the beer to form bubbles.

It turns out that it's their new brunch special, so if you accept the mimosa on the way in, it's $4, where the regular price is $10 -- definitely good to keep in mind if you're visiting during weekend brunch! When it came down to the food, I ordered the fried bologna sandwich while my husband had the tom tom benedict (green and red tomatoes). Both were quite good -- I loved the twist on the ol' bologna sandwich, though I the tom tom bene was prob our fave. Anyhow, I was suprised at how much we liked the food from this tavern, and I'll definitely include it as an option from now on, when we're coming up with places to visit. Highly recommend this place. We did, but we were early -- and he immediately told us it wasn't a problem. He cracked a few jokes, which instantly made us feel welcome and happy to be there. He was incredibly friendly, funny, and set the tone for a fantastic evening. We were shown to our seats but noticed the bar was open, so we chose to sit there instead. From the moment we sat down, we were greeted by one of the friendliest bartenders I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. He asked about our evening, whether we were celebrating anything special, and genuinely made us feel valued. His service and cocktails were top-notch. He took the time to understand what we liked, offered thoughtful recommendations, and every drink was excellent. On top of that, two different servers stopped by to check on us and let us know they were available if we needed anything while the bartender was busy. That level of teamwork and attentiveness really stood out. What started as a quick nightcap turned into a much longer stay because of how welcoming and enjoyable the atmosphere was. The staff truly made the experience. Highly recommend -- and I'm very much looking forward to coming back.
