I have been waiting for this restaurant to open in Factory at Franklin. Overall I was impressed at the quality of food for the price and value. We really needed a New Orleans restaurant in Franklin. The menu is extensive. We tried the fried shrimp po boy, half muffuletta and wedge salad with blackened shrimp. The wedge was the highlight for me - loved it! Also the bread of both sandwiches was very good. I can't wait to come back for jambalaya and gumbo as well as sit at the beautiful bar so a craft cocktail. I was surprised that you order at the counter and they give you a number for your table but the line went pretty fast. The timing of the sandwiches arriving at the same time could be improved but for their first week of service overall I was still impressed. I will be back! read more

I love this restaurant! Located in the heart of The Factory at Franklin. I dined here today to celebrate my birthday during lunchtime. I had the Jambalaya and ordered an Old Fashion cocktail. The food was delicious and I loved the seating area, that's kind of like an indoor patio. It's a great place for people watching. I like that you get to order and pay as you walk in and don't have to wait for a server to bring you a bill when you're finished with your meal. It helped a lot that I looked at the menu and knew what I wanted to eat before I got there. This restaurant is a great addition to the area and I will be going again soon! read more

I liked the food but most likely won't return. I ordered a side of fried green tomatoes, a bowl of gumbo and a glass of "House" Chardonnay, my bill was $50. The shocker in price came from the house glass of wine. (It was $18 for a 6 oz. pour.) I'll be honest, I love my Chardonnay and would usually order more than one glass, but at $18 a glass I stopped at one. I would highly suggest they find a way to lower that price. I did not find the house wine to be special enough to justify the price. (Especially knowing I can visit another quick service restaurant in The Factory and get a top shelf margarita for $12) The food: The fried green tomatoes were good and the remoulade sauce paired well. They are cooked in more of a batter (as opposed to cornmeal base) and are thicker than I'm used to. The gumbo is good. I did detect a bit of a burnt taste in the roux, but I enjoyed the overall flavor of it. I appreciate that it was not overfilled with rice. I think that will be my only visit but I'm sure they will do well in The Factory. read more

Still working through the earlier times of being open but so excited to come back in and try it again. The drinks were all great (had an old fashion and Sazerac). The Boudin Balls were amazing and a must if you stop in. The Gumbo had a lot of deep flavor and was pretty dang good. The alligator wasn't my favorite, but the po'boy itself was amazing. The four of us thought classic New Orleans - period design, jazz, a good Sazerac or Vieux Carré, etc. Nope, it's an incredibly loud stand-in-line place with no music (or it was so loud nothing could be heard). The gumbo was so-so, fried green tomatoes a 7/10 (completely fallen apart) but the sauce was a 10/10. Hush puppies were heavy. I had a shrimp/oyster Po'boy which was again mediocre (the breading had zero flavor and needed salt but bread was great). The fried platter was good but fries (again) very drab. Big hit of the night - Muffaletto. Soft drinks were a mess. I got a coke, took one sip and returned it ("bag problem") then got a Dr Pepper which was similar. The problem is skimping on the amount of syrup with each serving. Why anyone would stand in line half an hour for this is unexplainable so people must not mind the noise. read more

Great meal with amazing staff. My wife and I were craving some Cajun food so we gave White Alligator a try and we are so glad that we did. We sat at the bar and were very impressed with the drink selection. The win list is fairly short, but full of very good wines. We went with a couple of the house specialty cocktails and loved each of them. We then split the jambalaya, gumbo and fried catfish entree. For two people, this was more than enough food and each were very tasty and full of flavor. We ended the dinner with some warm beignets - amazing!! We will certainly be back! read more

First- I'm pretty stingy with 5 stars. Could upgrade on a future visit. Solid first try and def a place I'll try again. Liked the atmosphere/ service was good to great depending on the person. I had the FGT PoBoy. Good bread-Chewy enough and soft enough. Makes a po boy for me. Yummy. Took some boudin balls home to the hubs. Will have to try them again to give a good review, but would def eat again. Maybe seemed more hush puppy than boudin? Friends had gumbo and said it was great. Another friend had the half muffaletta- easily enough for 2. And I wish I wasn't allergic to beef because the debris fries looked amazing. Friend that ate them said they were. Was greeted kindly by the young man who took my order. The shrimp po-boy tasted really good, just know you are also getting a whole pound of lettuce! The fried green tomatoes were ok, could have used less paprika on top. The sauce served with it didn't really add any flavor. Lunch at the New White Alligator was a success. First the good: My friend had the fried catfish and she said it was extremely fresh and light. I had a lump Crab Orleans salad that was delicious. It was hard to take a good picture because my phone cast a hard shadow on my plate. But it had a lot of yummy crab and the citrus vinaigrette complemented it perfectly. We shared some hush puppies and both really liked the remoulade dipping sauce There is a full bar which was surprisingly busy at noon on a Thursday but we opted for iced tea and coke. The restaurant has a cute atmosphere with lots of low lighting and dark painted background. Now the bad: It was uncomfortably loud but it seems like almost everywhere is now. The typical ice cream chairs aren't horribly uncomfortable, but don't lend themselves to lingering at all. The tea and Coke were served in medium size disposable glasses and no refills are offered. Pretty bad for a $55 lunch for 2 people. Even fast food offers refills. I guess they want to turn over tables quickly. If they would get more comfortable chairs, they would probably sell more alcohol. Also nonalcoholic beverages should be refilled at this price point. I took off a star for comfort and lack of refills. But overall it was definitely worth the trip. We will be back. read more

Recently took a day trip to the Nashville Area, my wife always searches for interesting places to eat on these trips. She figured that I would enjoy The White Alligator because I had lived in Gulfport Ms. Awhile back and made many drives over to New Orleans to eat. The food did not disappoint! My wife and I shared a half Muffuletta and an order of Debris Fries, everything was amazing! The half order of Muffuletta was more than enough for the both of us. You order at the front, they give you a number to put at your table and they bring the food to you at the table. The service was fast, and they checked up with us a couple of times. The restaurant itself has a nice laid back ambiance, they have an area that has seating in the mall (Factory) area that is fenced in, which to me gave it the feel of eating outdoors at a cafe, very nice. We will return the next time we are in the area, I'm looking forward to trying something different. Everything that was brought out to the surrounding tables looked delicious and the portions were large. read more

Family run business with all the pride and care of a family business. Food is 5 stars, limited menu that insures quick preparation from the kitchen. Literally no waiting for your food even during peak times. So why only 4 stars? Beautiful well stocked bar. Been there several times. There is only one bartender, while competent, there is only one bartender. The owner has all the systems down from ordering your food to delivery of your food. Kitchen is totally visible and no food waits to be delivered from under a hot lamp. You get your beverages when you order and make your way to a table. To get a bar drink, you need to find an open space among the bar patrons and wait for the bartender to find you. Just chaos during the peak times. The place works like clockwork except for the bar. Ownership should apply the great creativity they used in creating this wonderful establishment and fix the cocktail order/delivery system. IMHO the bar is a high margin component of the enterprise and needs to be highly profitable which will hold down the prices of the restaurant. read more

Tried the white alligator recently and was very impressed. Got the bbq shrimp po boy, the beignets, and a side of gumbo. The gumbo was the real star. The po boy was very good... it probably could have used a little more meat for the price. The bread was incredible. I would definitely get the exact same po boy again. The restaurant itself is nice... it's a counter service joint, but it does have a full service bar. Seating in both areas can be limited, but there's plenty of seating in and around the factory. read more

Been wanting to try this place but wife was reluctant. Well, she's out of town, so I gave it a shot. Kinda glad she didn't come. If you are looking for real Cajun or New Orleans, not sure this is your spot. Staff was great! Bartender was super attentive. I was excited to order the roast beef po'boy. The one I had in New Orleans was made with nice juicy debris and some nice spicy Chow Chow. Glad I asked. The one here is sliced deli type roast beef, like from Publix. So ordered a different one and a side of gumbo. Gumbo was not as good as others close by. Asked for a side of debris, but was denied. Told I could order the debris fries. Didn't want fries. Just debris. Happy to pay for it, but no deal. Asked for spicy stuff for my sandwich and was given hot sauce I can get anywhere. Drink wise, ordered a Tito's martini. $11, but no blue cheese olives. Not a bad price. Next went with a house Chard and was $18. Seems a bit high for a brand I've never heard of. Anyway, more disappointed than impressed, and not likely to come back. Sure they will do fine in the Factory, but there is certainly better Cajun/New Orleans out there. read more

Due to my diet, I haven't tried too much on the menu but the jambalaya and gumbo are both excellent. A little pricey for the portion size, but delicious nonetheless. Very friendly staff as well. A much needed addition to Franklin. Just opened so there was some confusion on eating and drinking and where to order. The bar is full service so if you want drinks bypass the station upfront . We split the King PoBoy shrimp. Surprised to see the sandwich came with mayo vs the traditional remoulade. Sandwich was good but bread should be toasted as it falls apart. Was a little bland. Hush puppies were excellent and not a bit greasy. Remoulade served with it was a bit odd tasting. But they were great and huge. Good drinks menu with two frozen drinks, beer, wine, and cocktails. The Shrimp Po Boy is good size. Ingredients were tasty and bread was really fresh. Large enough you could probably split it. Downside is it comes with no fries and a side of fries is outrageously priced. Went back a 2nd time and ordered the platter. Super small portion size. Would not get that again.
